Evidently secrets are being kept in York. There have been several killings ... all of them have body parts that were removed, and then they were stabbed to death. The killer leaves a message after each killing.

‘God has forgiven you your sins, but He could not rid you of your demons. So I have taken them for you.’

DS Jason Smith is lead investigator and these days he's overworked and sleep deprived. He's also made a horrible mistake ....even worse, while he was out drinking and then going home wit

Just Phenomenal! Another top notch read on my Bookshelf - or should I say, 'Kindle!'
This series goes from strength to strength. I know that I'll always enjoy reading books by this author, but with any book there is always a chance that the next won't live up to the standard of previous one's. This is certainly not the case with these books - I can't find any fault with them.
Smith is getting ready to take his wife and young daughter out for a nice day to the Seaside - just what he needs as much a

The maverick cop DI Jason Smith was back with another murder mystery. This time someone was killing the sinners.

My third or fourth book by author Stewart Giles, the story was a pure adrenaline rush. I loved how the team worked. Sheer dynamism and camaraderie seeped off them. I loved reading everything about the team.

Jason Smith was enigmatic in the way he came to conclusions about the murderer. I liked how his brain could make the connections. His personal life was well shown to give me an idea

This is book number eleven in the brilliant series featuring DS Jason Smith and this one puts the poor man through more than ever before! Smith is an Australian who now works in York alongside a great established team of detectives including his own wife, DC Erica Whitten, DC Yang Chu and DS Bridge. He has had to deal with some pretty nasty cases over the years so it is a wonder he is still sane, let alone has a lovely family and a good relationship with the rest of the team. He definitely likes ...more

D.S.Smith is back
Smith was having a weekend off but getting a call in to a murder, A wooden knife handle sticking through the victims heart. Peter Ashe shows no sign of been killed in a struggle. His wife is staying with her sister and needs to be questioned as they find a few home truths about the victim. As the preliminary examination results show something disturbing. What a way to die. And MORE murders are to follow. This is one of jason smiths best yet. Full of humour , gripping, slap bang

Oooh!!! Another read from Stewart that I couldn’t put down! A man is found murdered with a knife in his chest. It is later discovered that the cause of death was something rather more sinister. DS Jason Smith is on the case when he should have been having the weekend off with his wife and daughter but as ever work comes first. He has a nose for when things are not as they first appear and it takes him a while to convince others until they can see his point of view and what appears obvious. His w ...more

As always, I began Demons with several expectations...High ones at that! Stewart has smashed them all! Another DS Smith book that you can never believe can get any better than the last, but it does! This time someone is killing the sinners and it's Jason Smiths job to catch the culprit! You couldn't walk down a more twistier or darker road than he does in the latest instalment. The story is fast, exhilarating and omg! made me turn the pages sooo fast as I really needed to know what Smith would do ...more

A deeply moving story on so many levels. I loved it. The action never stops. A great opening chapter, Peter Ashe making confession to priest about his infidelity plus some unlawful act, reader is drawn in straightaway. Peter Ashe is then found dead.
Smith, a family man with wife, child and dogs, is back investigating this murder and three others. Its mostly police procedural but explores relationships, infidelity and confession. Smith's own personal life has interesting parallels with those of th

I have been a fan of Stewart's work for what feels like quite a while now. I have read and loved his most recent books, whilst at the same time trying to catch up on his earlier work. I read the synopsis for 'Demons' and it sounded like one hell of a fantastic read. I couldn't wait to get my hands on a copy and see what challenges DS Jason Smith had to face. I thoroughly enjoyed reading 'Demons' but more about that in a bit.
I must admit that I have developed something of a soft spot for DS Jason

Great follow up

This is book 11 in the series so you really need to read a couple of previous books to get a full understanding of things, although it does work as a standalone book if you are willing to learn a lot of back spoilers as Stewart does a good job of covering the back story at the start of the book.

The book starts of very dramatically with a man going to confession and then that evening being murdered and having his penis chopped off. The murderer left a sacrificial dagger and sent th

So this is number eleven in the Smith series and his most complicated case yet!

Smith is meant to be having a relaxing time off with his daughter and wife but that is interrupted when a body turns up. The man has been stabbed with an unusual knife and a body part removed, along with a creepy message: ‘God has forgiven you your sins, but He could not rid you of your demons. So I have taken them for you.’

More bodies turn up killed in a similar fashion but things in his personal life send him off t

“Demons” by Stewart reads briskly, and the main character, Detective Jason Smith is someone I will read more of. The story of confessions and executioners is well-written. Someone is out to punish those who have sinned, and believes it is their duty to cleanse the world of demons living within the sinners. A spate of killings, a murderer with strange trophies picked up from the victim, and a detective on the verge of a breakdown.. Giles weaves them into an absorbing read.

Another great read featuring Jason Smith. The book starts with Smith about to spend a nice weekend with his wife and daughter. He is called into work as there’s been a particularly gruesome murder. Having his weekend off cancelled is the start of where Smith’s life goes from bad to worse. There’s a lot going on in this fast paced read including more grisly murders. Will Smith be able to solve the murders and sort out his life. A good read.

Demons, the latest from Stewart Giles, is engrossing; definitely my favourite so far, in the DS Smith series. Smith messes up royally in Demons creating a second storyline alongside the riveting crime.

Stewart never fails to achieve with his amazing plots and twists, culminating in another page turner. The personal additions of Smiths complex life adds to the story, with it becoming almost as good as finding out who done it! Hurry up and write the next one pkease!

This is the latest release in the Detective Jason Smith series and I did a little squeal of excitement when it landed on my Kindle, after reading the blurb I couldn’t wait to get started on the book – and it was well worth the wait – I thought it was fantastic!!

I thought that the plot for this instalment was brilliant, it was well written and it was set at a great pace too, I loved that something happened in each chapter and there was plenty to keep my ful

DEMONS presents an unusual and confusing crime scene. Revealing the brutality of the crime only makes it more perplexing. You'll be holding your breath over the increasing pressure and tension. The mystery will hold you riveted and confounded until the very end.
