A beautiful and inspiring books about Elizabeth Warren's life from childhood through running for President. It is an uplifting and encouraging story about working hard and following through on one big plan after another. The text is on the dense side, although it is well paced. I recommend this for elementary schoolers. I know I will be pulling it out again during Women's History Month and the coming election cycle this year. ...more

I bought this book for my young nieces because I wanted them to have the opportunity to read about smart female leaders. They loved the book and beautiful illustrations. My 7-year-old niece gravitated toward the parts of the story about Elizabeth Warren wanting to be a teacher, while my 4-year-old nieces focused on her family dog. Me? I thought the book was so gorgeous and so well researched ... I bought an extra copy for my bookshelf!

Many people know about Warren’s career in the Senate and her run for the presidency, but few people probably know about the hard work and determination that got her to that point in the first place. This book starts at the beginning--Warren’s childhood and educational experiences. The reader can see her devotion to her education and how she actually wanted to be a teacher for most of her life. Her family experienced hardship when her father became very ill and could not work, but they all worked ...more

This easy biography focuses on the early life and general work of 2020 presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren. So often when reading biographies made for children it seems like the story gets lost in the character - if that makes sense - where the character is first and the story comes second. This one, however, places the story at the forefront; Thompson makes use of pronouns more than she does Warren's first name, which I think helps the reader connect with the story by seeing themselves (and ...more

This is a surprisingly good book for a children's picture book written at far too high a reading level for young readers, and not too likely to appeal to most older readers who are actually the target audience. It is, of course, actually intended as campaign literature. But it is also a very succinct and well-illustrated personal biography of Elizabeth Warren, and a very well-written book. It could've been a best-seller if slightly altered to fit its intended audience better. Elizabeth Warren is ...more

Hello, friends! Our book today is Elizabeth Warren’s Big, Bold Plans, written by Laurie Ann Thompson and illustrated by Susanna Chapman, an illustrated biography of the popular Senator and once-Presidential hopeful.

Growing up in small-town Oklahoma, young Elizabeth Warren had no designs on politics. As a girl, she exhibited a passion for teaching, and proved herself an ambitious and hardworking

The complimentary biography of Warren shows her as a dreamer and planner from her childhood. From her early devotion to teaching, to her law career, and then dealing with bankruptcy and financial issues, and then politics, the pencil? drawings show her as energetic, driven, and unfazed by obstacles. I had forgotten how brief her political career was, and how long ago she went to college.

Obviously this book would be even more relevant if she had won the nomination, but it's still a biography of
