Love on Main is an anthology of 10 short stories which explore the many ways love can be lost and found. The characters range from high school teens to business-owning adults, some finding first loves, others recovering from previous relationships. No two stories are the same, but all come to a similar conclusion: with two people falling in love on Main Street.
Leanne lives in New Jersey with her husband of twenty-five years and their three wonderful children. When Leanne is not cheering her children on in their activities, she can be found running, watching Philadelphia 76ers basketball, and spoiling her two beloved dogs. Favorite locations include the Jersey shore, Martha's Vineyard, and any place that sells books or coffee, preferably both! A passionate student, Leanne's dream life would include going back to college and majoring in everything.
Leanne is a graduate of Lafayette College and The Dickinson School of Law. A former attorney, Leanne is now lucky enough to write full-time!
I have a complicated relationship with short stories. I either love them or I’m indifferent to them. Despite my mixed feelings, I’m constantly trying to read more. I very much believe it’s about finding the right ones, and I’m always on the lookout for more I’ll enjoy.
With Love on Main, we have ten short stories I enjoyed. I admit to enjoying some more than others, but all had me happy to power through the story. With young adult and adult love to be found, there’s a variety of stories to be experienced within this collection.
Intertextual Relations was a sweet young adult romance. Even though I worked out where things were going with this one, I really enjoyed watching the way things developed. It was super sweet and made a great start to the book.
Chasing the Story was a fun introduction to what promises to be an interesting young adult series. The romance was super sweet, and the lingering elements have left me with high hopes of what the series will offer.
Culture Clash on Main was a young adult story with a powerful message. It gave a great story and sent a wonderful message with ease, sucking you in and leaving you invested in all that played out.
The Storm of the Decade was an adult story that took a favourite trope and made it into a quick and powerful story. I fell for the characters and had so much fun finding out all the details.
Silver for Gold was a young adult story that packed a serious punch. I adored the main characters with this one and loved all the elements that were handled, there was so much included in this one and it hit all the right spots.
Star-Crossed Lovers and Other Strangers was a young adult story that was more adult in nature. It handled several topics throughout, and I was surprised by how invested in the characters I became even though it did not have the same intense feelings between the characters as some of the other stories.
The Valentine’s Eve Not-a-Date Photo Scavenger Hunt was an adorable adult story. I enjoyed the not-a-date events and found myself smiling at the way certain elements played out.
Sunflowers and Lavender was another sweet young adult romance. I fell quickly for this one and could not get enough of our leading characters – once I started, it hooked me completely.
Jane & Austen’s was an adult story that packed a punch. There was more to it than I’d initially anticipated, and I loved seeing how things developed between our characters.
Love-Locked on the Roberto Clemente Bridge was an adult story that had a story within it. I was hooked on both the romance between our main characters and the side story that we got to see developing. It made for the perfect ending to the book.
All in all, Love on Main is well worth the read if you’re looking for a collection of wonderful romance stories.
I absolutely enjoyed this wonderful LOVE FILLED anthology! So many great stories by some seriously talented authors. Yes, I am included in that list. LOL!
Intertextual Relations by Brandy Woods Snow. This is my favorite YA romance author and not just because we are BFF's. She is one great writer. In this short little tale, we spend some time at a school dance with Ryleigh Anne Royce who, is waiting for her ex whom she believes has been texting her. I absolutely loved watching this story play out and like one reviewer pointed out, this is the modern day YOU GOT MAIL! I can't gush about this story enough!
Chasing the Story: The adventures of Victoria Miller by C. Vonzale Lewis. Yes, that is me and I wrote this fun little YA romance. This story was so far out of my comfort zone I can't even tell you how many drafts I wrote. But I will say I am very pleased with the end result and can't wait to bring you more of Victoria's adventures. She is one gutsy gal!
Culture Clash on Main by Shaila Patel. Who DOESN'T like a fish out of water story! I can't even tell you how much I enjoyed the chemistry between Michael and Shreya. This was the best meet-cute I have read about in a while! LOVED IT!
The Storm of the Decade by Prerna Pickett. OMG!!! I absolutely loved Ollie and I wouldn't mind Prerna writing about him again. She can even include Priya! This story was so adorable it made me smile. AGAIN, OLLIE!!!!
Silver for Gold by Patty Blount. Now this story hit some heavy topics and did an excellent job of pulling you into the story and falling in love with Ethan and Alli. I was so emotionally invested that I forgot it was a short story!!
Star-Crossed Lovers and Other Strangers by Deborah Maroulis. I have to admit, I shed a few tears with this one. Another one of those stories that grabs you by the heart and doesn't let go. Tristan is such a sweetheart. His name says it all! The ending really put a smile on my face. Favorite line: "Never stop offering me your arm. I might take it one day." COME ON!!! LOVE!!!
The Valentine's Eve Not-a-Date Photo Scavenger Hunt by Faydra Stratton. I so wanted it to be a date. And guess what (spoiler) This story really caught my attention. There was so much inner turmoil going on with Paige Bellamy. But what smoothed it out was the budding attraction between her and Nicholas (Cole). It was such a joy to watch them and, yes, I did wish that Adriana and Justin would (spoiler).
Sunflowers and Lavender by Melanie Hooyenga. I absolutely love witty narrators and Emmy is just my kind of character! And Lucas, oh my, what a wonderful guy! This story was so much fun I wish it was longer.
Jane & Austens by Jess Moore. As I've told Jess, this is the start of a cozy mystery series if I ever read one. She may try to fight me on this, but I WILL NOT GIVE UP! Everything about this story is amazing. The setting, the bookstore, the couple. Oh, the couple. Jane and Austen. That should tell you ALL you need to know about how wonderful and swoon-worthy the couple were. LOVED IT!
Love -Locked on the Roberto Clemente Bridge by Leanne Treese. I could make this about myself and tell you this author holds a special place in my heart having been the first author I signed at Filles Vertes Publishing, but I won't do that! Instead I will tell you just how much I FREAKING LOVED this story!! Sienna was my type of character. Her grit and determination and her moments of levity really stood out in this heart-warming story. And Nate was hands down the best! A big kid at heart, I loved watching their romance bloom on the page. This too could have been a novel. Seriously needed to be a novel.
So, yeah, I loved the stories. And, I really loved the cover as well. Jena R Collins can design like nobodies business. :)
I am so lucky to have my story featured in this anthology along side such talented writers. Every story is full of swoon, angst, surprises, and of course romance! If you want to read something that puts a smile on your face, then pick up Love on Main!
LOVE ON MAIN is all about romance. Ten excellent stories that depict situations leading to people falling in love on the street. A street named Main, that is. The shorts are quite enjoyable and fun, and, as the synopsis says, they aren’t the same.
Overall, LOVE ON MAIN’s ten heart-lifting, unique romance short stories will entertain you to no end.
Highly enjoyable and easily devoured, much like a box of chocolates!
I had the pleasure of reading this anthology, which is YA-Adult, and focuses on two things, Main St, USA and LOVE!
Although each story is unique with different characters, they are all about finding love. The journey in all of them isn't easy, and some go against everything their upbringing has taught them.
I really did enjoy this anthology, I think my favorite out of the entire collection was Intertextual Relations by Brandy Woods Snow. It was a cute story about a girl who had a texting relationship with a boy she didn't know. They were to meet at prom, but the girl's ex kept getting in the way. It was short, sweet, quirky, and all 'round a great story!
If you're a fan of anthologies or quick reads all about love, snag your copy!
This turned out to be just the palate cleanser I needed after all the nerves caused by my last suspense read. I've enjoyed the different takes on a Main Street theme and the mix of YA and Adult romance stories is cool. (Chill, it's all very PG.) I've got one more story to go--Not including my own, because I've read through that one PLENTY! And I already know there's no way I'll be able to pick a favorite!
Love this adorable book of short stories about couples finding Love on Main! They are perfect, bite-size stories for those who love romance. Kind of like chocolates .....
If you’re looking for romance, this collection by multi-talented authors has it all. Some with action/adventure, some sweet & slow, all of them with the feels! I loved them and the variety they brought to the anthology, making the read incredible especially as I’d been craving some good romances. Highly recommend!
I love an anthology of short stories with a basic theme. This one was about romance found on Main Street. Each story was thoroughly enjoyable and romantic. Of course I had my favorite ones, but they were all well written and memorable. I feel these stories will stay with me for a while.
I love too that I have discovered some new authors that I’d like to read more of. These are some really talented writers of romance. I’d highly recommend this anthology to anyone who enjoys romance. You won’t regret it!!
The word is Romance in this excellently written short story collection by various authors. All the stories are different, each comes with an unexpected twist. Themes include navigating painful relationships with old boyfriends; cultural misunderstandings and biases that hinder love; young women and men taking on adult roles for the first time; parental expectations gone awry, and small-town relationships. Lots of conflict and decisions that involve risks for both parties. Plus the added bonus of art exhibits, treasure hunts, and a bookstore that needs reviving!
As a general rule, I don't read a lot of short stories, it has to be said but this one came my way and I thought: "why not?".
This is a sweet, PG collection of romantic stories with each one being different. Most of them feature young love but a couple had an older pair of star-crossed loves. They were all well written, just the right length (I have read some anthologies where the story seems to get abruptly cut off - that didn't happen here) and even though it appears that most are written with YA in mind, I am actually a grandmother but I didn't find them too young for me.
4.5 stars from me.
With thanks to Filles Vertes Publishing for letting me read the ARC, all opinions are entirely my own.
I really enjoyed this book of short stories! They were easy to read and get lost in. They were even easier to become more absorbed and wanting more when each ended. Some authors are known to me others not. Will be looking into more from each of these writers that is for sure!
Okay, have to admit my obvious bias as I have a story in this collection, but this a very fun mix of sweet romance short stories with sooooo many smile-inducing first kisses.
If you like chai, murals, sneaking out, photography, bookstores, proms, scavenger hunts, small towns, snowy nights, summer fun, Valentines... so really anything -- then this collection is for you.
Love on Main is a great collection of short love stories. I had started reading because I knew I loved one author, Shaila Patel <3 , and ended the book with many more. And now my TBR is even crazier because now I HAVE to read their books too! To my new loves, Austin, Ollie, and Michael, I will never forget you.
Great collection of 10 sweet short stories in both young adult and new adult, all centered around Main Street, USA. Every story features great writing and unique stories. They are quick reads that are perfect for a lunch break or while waiting for an appointment. Every story in this anthology caught my interest quickly and came to a satisfying conclusion. All are sweet and range from low to medium angst, no over the top drama. Highly recommended anthology! Great for finding new authors to love. I was given the opportunity to read a copy of this book.
