Learning to Quit: How to Stop Smoking and Live Free of Nicotine Addiction by Suzanne Harris and Paul Brunetta is not just another book instructing the reader on how to set themselves free from their smoking habit.
On the contrary it is a complete narrative and involved study that not only informs the reader about cigarette smoking and its negative repercussions, but offers practical tips and skills to the nicotine addicted individual on how to set themselves free.

Often easier said than done, quitting smoking can be one of the more daunting experiences that someone can face in life and while there is an abundance of guides on the market, it may seem like when you have read one, you read them all. Learning to quit smoking and other nicotine products can be daunting. Especially since it is a strong addiction that has been scientifically proven to alter your brain to rewire you to crave the nicotine. Hopefully, by purchasing this book you are at a stage where you truly want to quit. It can be hard, but it is not impossible. I quit smoking myself years ago before there were many self-help books about it, and I got this one for my father. He has been smoking almost 31 years and has been off c

This was given to me as a gift by a friend who liked it. Pretty good. Actually gave me useful advice without making me feel any guilt and overwhelm. They also give you links to resources to download for free on the Learning to Quit website - like a survey to test the strength of your nicotine addiction and a sample quit plan. I followed the book's advice and got a prescription to help with cravings. They say meds might not be right for everyone, but they sure helped me.

I'm so grateful for this book. My sister and I read it at the same time. We asked each other the questions and used the plan to actually quit smoking.

I gave this to my auntie after my sister and I read it. She's read it on my kindle a couple of times now. I think she really likes the personal stories because they feel a bit gossipy. But, she says it also helps her feel better about when she smokes again and needs to start all over. It's so hard to quit. This book has been helpful for me, my sis AND Auntie.

Refreshing to read a book that doesn't try to embarrass or scare you about smoking. Down-to-earth stories from real people. I got a lot out of this book.

This would have been a better help book if the majority of it was not filled with stories about individuals who quit smoking and their stories. I really believe this should have been filled with more ways to quit smoking than with how others found their power to quit and why.
And there really isn't much new information or encouragement about quitting. The health information might make you think twice about the real dangers of smoking, but I did not feel a real prod to quit, only my own reasons f ...more
