'Don't Go Without Me' contains 3 individual stories: the titular 'Don't Go Without Me,' 'What Is Left,' and 'Con Temor, Con Ternura' (With Fear, With Tenderness).
'Don't Go Without Me': Two lovers sneak out for a night out on the town- a town where spirits and the supernatural exist as a realm within and alongside our world, with humans crossing over frequently. The lovers get separated, and must barter with stories in exchange for clues as to where the other may be. But, unknown to them, each time they gain a morsel of information, they lose something, too...
'What Is Left': A ship that runs on the memories of one of its occupants malfunctions and collapses in on itself in the dead of space. Alive but trapped, an engineer who survives the wreckage finds herself inside the reservoir of memories, stranded alone in a patchwork dream of someone else's life.
'Con Temor, Con Ternura': For years, the residents of a small, ocean-side town have been living in the shadow of the sleeping giant who is prophesised to one day wake up and lay their world to waste. As the foreseen date of their impending doom draws near, the town decides to put on a festival on that very same night, to celebrate their lives and face whatever fate awaits them together.

She's currently working on a graphic novel with award-winning author Mariko Tamaki for First Second called Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me, to be released in 2019. I feel like I can only type in emojis for this review, but I’ll refrain. Jaw-droppingly gorgeous and haunting. This goes for the artwork as well as the short tales within. I was reminded of “Spirited Away”, Jeff Vandermeer’s “Annihilation”, “The Labyrinth”, and let’s say “Black Mirror” as well. Three lusciously written stories about different fantastical, introspective, and dream-like events. 💖

Las ilustraciones son muy bonitas, pero el guion no se queda atrás. Una obra conmovedora sobre el paso del tiempo y los recuerdos que vamos creando.

No te vayas sin mí se compone de tres historias (No te vayas sin mi, Lo que queda y Con temor, con ternura) tres historias muy diferentes pero todas con un toque de ciencia ficción/fantasía.
Las historias se me han quedado algo cortas, tienden las leguaje poético y aun que la ilustración está muy lograda y sin duda le da una aire un tanto fantasioso a la historia lo que es el conjunto se me ha quedado un poco incompleto.
También está el hecho de que tiene un texto un tanto onírico y poético que nunca acaba de ser del todo lo que a mi más me gusta.

One brilliant Saturday, I went to pick up a package from the post office. I read the contents of said package in about one hour, just staring at the wonderful images and taking in the moody, tasty, lovely stories. I had wanted to read one of those three stories ("What is Left") for a long time, and I was impatient for the other two as well. And then...
I loved this book so much I almost can't find suitable adjectives to express my glee. So let's try: each of those stories is a wonderful jewel, polished to perfection, with gorgeous and impressively elaborate drawings which border on Art-Nouveau illustrations at times, other times going the way of a game of panel geometry which serves the storytelling so well it makes you squee! The muted, subdued but eye-candy colour range corresponds perfectly to the narration: a walk on tricky ground with heavy, complex lava flows churning under the surface. There is also the business of rhythm: this book imposes its own movements on you (and it helps that the Kickstarter extra - the making-of zine - comes with a soundtrack for each of those stories), and each word balloon, each panel, each page lands like a precise beat in a piece of music. If, at the end of the book, you don't find yourself dancing in an undulating way, you ... probably don't dance much, I guess? Sorry, I am getting carried away.
Now that I have thrown all pretense of objectivity out of the window, I can say that this is a fabulous book, from the cover to the content and the page grain, and I love it so, so much! I didn't expect those stories to leave me in a hopeful mood, but they did, and I love them even more for that!

Me gustaron mucho las ilustraciones, especialmente las de la segunda historia. Me parece realmente bonita y con un significado súper entrañable.
Quizá la tercera me haya costado un poco más entenderla que las otras dos pero una vez le he dado algunas vueltas tiene un sentido que me parece muy peculiar y reflexivo.
Muy interesante este formato de varias historias ilustradas en uno.

El estilo de Valero-O'Connell, me encantaba en Laura Dean y ha seguido la misma linea.
El único problema es que el formato relato corto, me ha dejado a medias las tres veces.

Tres historias preciosas, rápidas de leer pero que se te quedan ahí clavaditas. Todo super nostálgico y bonito, no tengo pegas ! Excepto que por favor, nadie cuente nada relevante a criaturas que parecen entre hadas y demonios, no puede salir bien.

Colección de tres historias, sin conexión entre sí, que me funcionan mejor en el campo del relato ilustrado que en el cómic: la secuenciación de viñetas entorpece una narración que no llega a resentirse por ello. Valero-O'Connell recupera grandes temas de la fantasía y la ciencia ficción (la puerta al mundo mágico que te hace olvidar tu pasado; la máquina que te sitúa ante tus recuerdos; el gigante dormido) para encauzar relatos hermosos y bastante optimistas. El dibujo, muy evocador, se enfatiza gracias a una edición acorde a su contenido. Si se me permite la maldad, todo lo que los tebeos de Tillie Walden prometían pero me costó horrores encontrar.

Swirly, ethereal artwork in three moving stories about the power of memory and relationships.
I enjoyed this, and there were some incredibly powerful moments. I liked that the three stories were very different, with similar thematic threads. I think this is the first time I've really experienced the graphic novel equivalent of a short story collection, and it was done well.

Este es el cómic más raro que he leído en mucho tiempo, pero qué maravilla más grande. Destaca en todos los aspectos posibles y deja un poso muy fuerte: una mezcla de melancolía y ligera esperanza. Muy potente.

Como siempre me pasa cuando leo cómic o novela gráfica, mi sistema se tiene que adaptar a la ilustración y luego me meto en la historia. Primero siempre me llega la imagen, tanto es así que a veces debo releer lo que ya pasó, y frenarme para no ir volando por la página.
En este caso, hice dos lecturas, la primera, para empaparme de la visual, la segunda para consolidar la narrativa.
Tras la primera lectura, la historia que me dejó más poso fue la tercera. Qué acertado en forma y tiempo me parece el mensaje. Si no habéis escuchado las declaraciones de Víctor Glover desde Artemis, buscadlas, porque tal cual, aquí estamos, en esta 'nave radiante que porta en sus entrañas a todos los que has querido'. Días después, en la relectura, reconfirmé que la tercera es mi favorita 💖 La primera historia no se queda atrás tampoco, y sí, me dio muchas vibes a Chihiro...
Y tú, ¿qué harías cuando se despertara la giganta?

Los cómics de Rosemary Valero-O’Connell son un placer para la vista y en cierto modo también para el alma. La última historia de este cómic es el epítome de esta frase tan ñoña que me ha salido sobre una autora que se mueve en unos dominios donde es fácil caer en la ñoñería, pero ella siempre se libra de hacerlo.

Le graphisme est magnifique ! Rien à redire là-dessus, les tons pastel nous envoûtent. L'auteur nous entraîne dans trois histoires courtes sur le thème du souvenir et des relations humaines dans un monde futuriste très féminin. Elle joue sur le lyrique et l'ambiance psychédélique pour évoquer leur complexité. Malheureusement, je me suis sentie un peu perdu dans sa narration, n'arrivant pas toujours à suivre.

Me dió mucha pena que se acabase, las tres historias tienen universos increíbles y con muchísimo potencial, de los que podrían salir muchísimas más historias. Pero creo que lo que es bonito precisamente es que ha sabido capturar un momento único en cada uno de ellos para poder explicar algo importante y que la única manera de habitarlos sea de esta manera los hace especiales.

Una trilogía de historias ambientadas en un futuro posible que reflexionan sobre el papel de la memoria, los recuerdos y el amor en nuestras vidas, a través de las distintas protagonistas y sus situaciones. Con una paleta de colores pastel y dibujos muy expresivos que logran dar la sensación de estar inmersas en las atmósferas de nostalgia que crea la autora. Me gustó mucho.

Hay comics que no estan hechos para mi. Los que van de ser hipercreativos, irse de la olla o cosas similares que no sabes si es que se ha tomado un tripi la autora o el prota para leer lo que dicen pues como que no. Prefiero los clasicos o los infantiles antes de algo asi

I am a HUGE huge fan of Rosemary Valero-O'Connell; the way she uses color is just my absolute favorite. This was such a great collection of dreamy, dark stories that I can't wait to read over and over.

Me gustó bastante, tanto las ilustraciones como las historias. Si que es verdad que algunas escenas eran tan abstractas y surreales que me despistaba y tenía que volver a leer. Pero me gustaron las 3 (la primera fav con todos los bichitos por ahí)

Les dessins sont géniaux, même s’ils peuvent être chargés et parfois un peu compliqués, mais le style narratif les accompagne super bien. J’ai adoré le contraste entre les couleurs et l’ambiance parfois sombre, voire glauque, et en même temps très tendre.
En résumé, ce sont trois petites histoires indépendantes, très originales, qui se lisent comme une lettre d’amour à notre planète, à notre humanité et à la vie.

Espectacular. El dibujo, impresionante, y el guion de las dos primeras historias, muy bueno. La primera, “No te vayas sin mí”, un gran inicio para abrir boca. La segunda historia, “Lo que queda”, sin duda es la que más me ha gustado, es la más redonda en todos los aspectos. La tercera, “Con temor, con ternura”, es preciosa en color y dibujo, pero no me ha transmitido nada en su guion.
