The Supernatural Vampire Fae Chronicles #1

Bloody Rosary Academy: Year One

Rate this book
Hail Mary, Full of Grace, let your powers grant me safe haven.

Blessed is the blood that courses through my veins, from the womb of my Fae Mother and the seed of my Vampire Father.

Holy Mary, protect me, for I have two sides from which to choose. One of holy matrimony, which represents all that is perfection and grace, and one of darkness and bloodshed, wherein the pulsing desire for power outweighs the need for tranquility and equilibrium.

Let me make the right choice, for I am bound to both, but can only become one.

Please, do not forsake me.

I pray that this choice to attend Bloody Rosary Academy will unlock the secrets within the very beads of thy rosary.

I offer my body, rare blood, and magic powers to discover my true birthright and find the perpetrator behind my parents’ demise and my subsequent orphanage.

Shelter me at the hour of their death and let me the final victor.

Now, and for the next four years.

Amen.

Bloody Rosary Academy is a Reverse Harem Paranormal Romance. If you’re fans of Vampire Diaries, Twilight, and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, this is one sizzling story you don’t want to miss.

This book had so much potential. It could’ve done wonders. Sadly, it all just fell flat.
The first thing I noticed was the speaking . It didn’t feel like two people were talking but more like they were spouting speeches at each other. I mean come on, when one dialogue takes a whole darn page, what else would you think? You know how people say it should be more showing than telling? Well this book was telling alright. Telling telling and more telling.
Another thing was the, um creativeness?, of the girls.
Willy Wonka rock candy rod?? Lollipop?? What even- This screamed twelve year old little girls who didn’t want to outright say the word dick and so came up with some ‘secret word’. It’s very disturbing coming from two 18 year olds. Very disturbing indeed.
Needless to say I didn’t enjoy the book. It wasn’t completely horrific, there were moments I liked, however, the bad far outweighed the good. Thus the 2 star rating.
As i mentioned before, had potential, but didn’t live up to it. Major disappointment.

Love this new academy series! Definitely not a typical academy series. Lucinda is an orphan that was raised by a Catholic church. A place full of corruption and abuse. Luckily she can defend herself since she's part Fae part Vampire. She has a best friend Pearl who is a wolf shifter. Luci is counting down the days till she turns 18. Then she will receive her parents inheritance and she can leave the church, and take Pearl with her. Her parents left her a lot of money and 2 thrones. They were King and Queen. Luci doesn't remember a lot before she came to the church though. Things don't go as planned on her birthday though. She's given a tiera and a cape along with a letter her parents left for her. It states that people will try and kill her and she needs to go to Bloody Rosary Academy, whatever that is. Luckily she meets a man Alexander and he leads her and Pearl there after Luci heals him. He was hurt trying to protect her from the corrupt church Bishop. Along the way people try and kill her. Then they run into Kane Mortica and Tobias Hart. The princes of a vampire coven and far lands. Her father told her to trust those last names in his letter so she does. They get her to the academy safetly and there her new life starts. After healing her she learns they were her best friends growing up. They all move into a mansion on the academy property after getting invited to the academy and that's when the training and searching for info starts.

Highly recommended

Lucinda ain’t had it easy, she and pearl entered the same church in the Vatican as orphans only a few days apart, they spent eight year surviving the evils hidden behind these church doors, with the help of they’re sassy personalities keeping us entertained.

On her 18 birthday she, pearl and with the surprise appearance of prince Tobias and prince Kane, the 4 must survive the threats that are trying to stop Lucinda reaching her destiny. If you like females kicking us you’ll love this!!

After a quick year at bloody rosary academy, they meet special people, create lasting bonds and build their friendships, they must under go their own awakening ceremonies and that sets us up for the biggest twist, with the events of Lucinda ceremony I honestly cannot wait for year two another great RH ladies.

DNF @ 28%

Issues that ultimately lead to a DNF:
1) lackluster romantic interests
—— would have kept reading to see how that turned out ( character growth/more interesting later), if not for other issues
2) too much ‘tell’ not enough ‘show’
——— Soooo much explaining of things instead. People talking and talking.... explaining and more explaining....
3) not much happened.
—- at 28% basically nothing had happened. See number 2.
4) while it had a good premise and some cool potential details, it ultimately felt boring because so little happened. I had to make myself read until I finally gave up.
5) main character felt a little ‘preachy’ given her age and just in general. I’m not a fan of people who get on a soap box often in the very beginning of a book.
6) couple pretty major typos. I’m usually pretty forging when it comes to this, but a main character was literally called ‘Kae’ instead of ‘Kane’. Which is extremely distracting because a bunch of characters were in the process of being introduced, so of course I went back to figure out who the hell Kae was. Kae is a typo. He doesn’t exist. *sigh* I feel like this could have easily been caught by having just one person proof read.

I gave two stars instead of one star because of the potential this book had. I am disappointed because this book could have been pretty good, if someone took a machete to all the longgggg explaining and conversations. I thought about continuing reading to find out if it did get awesome. Surely there couldn’t be anymore information to dump after a while? Ultimately, I gave up. Guess I’ll never know.

I am at a loss of words, completely mesmerized. I am so happy to have stumbled upon this gem of a book. I am quite literally speechless, so much so that I have to concentrate on my sentences to make sure they're coherent.

I highly doubt that I could capture the beauty this book has presented itself to be, but this review would hopefully make a dent to capture this masterpiece.

A. Complete. Masterpiece. I don't even know where to begin.

When I picked up this book, I assumed it to be one of those half assed academy type books that I tend to enjoy, but this was not it. I've literally just finished reading the book so perhaps my emotions are clouding my critical judgement, but this is literally the best thing I've read this year. And I've read a lot.

As I followed Luci along her journey, I truly was captivated from the start. She's at what I believe everyone experiences in their life. The pit, that point in your life when you're just stuck, you're at your lowest. And to think she's been experiencing that since she was 10 mesmerizes me. I am so happy that in that darkness she found a friend who eased that situation for her.

Then I read on as she traveled on and she fucking persevered. And she did it. She made and kept dear friends along the way, some of which she got to know on intimate levels, and I was living for it. That was one of the best love triangles I've ever read since the whole Clockwork series by Cassandra Clare. I am at a point that I cannot fathom how someone was able to create such a beautiful world with such beautiful characters. Personally, this blew my standards of what I thought was amazing.

I don't say this much but usually books that cause such passion in me and hold such meaning are deserving more than just a 5. And I don't say that lightly but this was definitely one of those.

I am absolutely enamoured with this book. The plot was so original, so refreshing and conducted and written in a spectacular way that left me quite literally breathless. The characters are nothing like I expected them to turn out to be, absolutely nothing. My expectations were blown away and I have only praise for this book, nothing more.

These characters are ones who have so much character and personality it felt like I was watching the story unfold with real life people whose thoughts were displayed on a banner. I have not read absolutely anything like them.

I almost died when they started truly getting to know each other because these were passionate, deep thoughts and conversations. It was real. I am so for the instal love because it's supernatural creatures and there's the whole deal about them, but I think this was one of the few books that truly captured their love, so much so it seemed so real. I felt like some of these conversations were thoughts that the author herself had with herself at times. I know it isn't a great comparison for most of us because I've yet to meet someone with the burden of a throne, but had I been in their places I definitely would've been thinking along the same lines. This part was honestly one of the things that stood out to me most. I forgot I was reading and it felt like I was watching this story unfold from my very eyes.

And the love that they have for each other, is so pure and unquestionable I don't know what to make of it. The ending and secrets that were revealed along the way only makes it better and somehow, someway, even more precious than that of which it was before that.

I find myself truly passionate about this book, and it's been awhile since something could get me this riled up. I honestly feel like pacing the floor until the next book comes. This one took my breath away and that's so cliche but when you've felt it, you just know.

I've ranted a bit, so I will now commerce the silentl pleading and wallowing in misery for the next book to come asap or try getting an ARC somehow because I cannot wait to see what's going to happen. I'm ready for whatever Avery Song will bring. Not really, but give it to me anyway. She has set the bar higher than I did myself and she's completely outdone herself. I can only imagine in ecstasy what the next book will hold.

Please read this. If this review couldn't convince you, do it for a favour to yourself. Please read this- that's all I can beg of you.

Bloody Rosary Academy is book one in Avery Song’s new reverse harem academy series with a feisty vampire fae hybrid who is coming into her own and ready to kick butt in the process. Orphaned at the age of 10, Lucinda Delphine is “entrusted” to the care of the church until she reaches the age of 18. Her life is not what it should have been with her being protected, watched over, and treated with care. Instead, the church shows it’s darker side to her and those who are “entrusted” to their care. Lucinda is a spunky character though who thanks to her unique abilities refuses to fall victim to their vices. When she turns 18 though her life changes and she learns about the Bloody Rosary Academy and the history behind her parents and that a price is on her head.
Bloody Rosary Academy grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept me page-turning throughout. I couldn’t get enough of this book. Overall, I love Lucinda’s character. I like that she has a lot of sass and spunk without a ton of attitude to go with it. Her best friend Pearl is an absolute delight as well. The story is fast-paced and engaging and hooks you in as you get a glimpse at the things that these two girls have had to deal with during their years at the church. The author teases us with a bit of backstory behind both girls and I absolutely eat it up. I’m thrilled to say that in some areas the author doesn’t fall into the trap of predictability, which I was concerned would happen with one scene with Pearl. My radar kept saying “this won’t end well for her,” but thankfully, everything works out fine overall. Piece by piece things come to light, but justice being served is what I loved most about this book. The character development reminds me a bit of this author’s other reverse harem academy books, along with other certain situations, but I still say that this book is pretty entertaining.
The things that I really didn’t care for about this book were…Lucinda getting her way in certain situations. Those scenes and situations were just a little too predictable and just a little too smooth for me. I guess I wanted some controversy or at least a hard “no” to be put in place. I mean…she wants a later school start time and the Headmaster automatically says “Okay, classes won’t start at 8; they’ll start at 10 because you asked.” I know that Lucinda hasn’t had the best past eight years of her life, but I feel that now that it’s out that she’s royalty that things are just happening too conveniently for her.
All in all, I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. The author has hooked me in with this series and these characters and I can’t wait to see what happens next. If you’ve read other books by this author then I recommend that you pick this one up. I’m sure that you’ll enjoy it.

Bloody Rosary Academy

Lucinda Delphine is a Vampire/Fae hybrid that was orphaned at a young age. Because she had no other living relatives she was forced to live at the Vatican, somewhere that would protect and shelter her until she was old enough to take over her legacy.

For not only is she a hybrid, but she is also of royal blood. Lucinda was so looking forward to her freedom and taking over her parents legacy at the next birthday, and leaving the wickedness behind, but as she was getting ready to leave the church, she found out that there was a bounty on her, whoever killed her would receive the reward.

With the help of two sexy and talented men Lucinda makes it to her next biggest challenge, an Academy that her parents attended when they were her age, and that they wrote in their will that they wanted Lucinda to go to, before she took over her kingdoms.

Join Lucinda, her bff and her sexy men as she fights all those who are trying to take her inheritance and believe her weak. Lucinda is the true protector of her kingdoms and she will gladly face all challengers for her right to rule!

Another fantastic new series by a wonderfully talented and exciting author Avery Song!

This book feels a little different then Avery Song's normal RH novels, but in a good way. It flows very differently and definitely has a darker beginning, but Avery very rarely shies away from harsh subjects.

Serena is a character without a past as she can't remember anything that happened before she was 10. She faces many hardships and creates a lasting bond before she hits 18 and must embark in her journey. As she comes to Bloody Rosary Academy she is trying to define herself and find out more about her past and her connections with others that she doesn't remember. Serena is definitely a character some can connect with and I really love her spunk. Though I have to say my favorite character would have to be pearl. I think the interactions between Serena and her men are just getting started and I can't wait to see where they go.

While there are still many questions to be anwsered and the ending cliffhanged on an amazing note, it definitely was a great book. This book definitely continues the trend of Avery Song putting out amazing novels that make you just want to keep reading. If you haven't tried this book yet I definitely suggest that you do, it won't be one you regret.

This book captivates you from the start. With the usual creative style of this amazing author. We see a new style of book come to life it's not just your average vampire, fae, shifter book. This book brings about a new version of things with a powerful hybrid of both vampire and fae in the form of Lucinda.
With the help of Pearl her wolf shifter hybrid best friend we see her have to fight to leave the church that raised her. With the added presence of Tobias and Kane along the journey we see the story open up into something amazing.
The bonds between Lucinda, Tobias and Kane are amazingly written and have you feeling everything they feel and battle through all the twists and turns they are all thrown into.
To end this book after Lucinda's awakening to a great ending leaving you needing more. Totally can't wait to know more.

Bloody Rosary Academy: Year One by Avery Song and Veronica Agnus is a story worth reading. Definitely a great academy series. But what I like best about it is the fact that while it’s a book about an academy it has such an original storyline that really makes the reader think and wonder and imagine what it would be like if it was you in Lucinda’s place, what choices would you make if you were her. This storyline is like a quest where in which Lucinda finds out about who she is and what she is capable of by going through various trials and tribulations. She slowly starts to find herself and those people she can trust and count on.

This storyline is one that grabs you by the throat and is very compelling. It was very easy to get hooked into the story from the beginning. I can’t wait for the next one to come out so I can see Lucinda and her men kick ass.

Avery Song is very good at grabbing my attention as soon as I start reading her books and this new series is no different. Bloody Rosary Academy starts of with a bang...it is dark and gritty and as soon as you start to learn about Lucinda and her BFF Pearl you are completely engrossed in their story and what they need to go through. Lucinda is completely bada$$ and I loved her character from the very beginning and it is a great relationship with Pearl that makes this book even more special. The book was fast paced and as soon as it started it was full of drama and action. We get to meet all the characters and become invested in what they are going through! There were some bits of the book that I was not completely happy with and hope that there is more details and explaination in the next book! This is a good start to a new series by the talented Avery Song and I look forward to reading what happens next!

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

Whoa just whoa!!! Avery has created one fantastic world this time!! Luci is a vampire/fae hybrid that has been raised in one messed up Catholic church. Upon her eighteenth birthday she gets to leave with her BFF Pearl a wolf shifter. Problem is that lots of peeps want to kill her making it necessary to fight to leave. A note from her dead parents tell her about the Academy which will change her life forever. A fantastic beginning that sets things up wonderfully for future installments. A total must read. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

How can I possibly not adore a book that slips in a genius Narnia comment?!?! I absolutely LOVED this book and the main character Luci!!! She's one fierce, big hearted, wickedly funny, badass female!!! She'll have to learn many lessons, and truths revealed.... Suffer through many trials, but eventually will be led to those that are her true allies! I cannot wait to see what path they all forge together! This was an epic start to this new series! I've no doubt the following books will be equally filled with adventure, mayhem, and badassery at the core!!! I cannot wait to see the epicness that Luci will grow to be. After all, she's already pretty darned awesome!!

A wild ride. Gimme more.

While I started off with more than a little reservation - I’ve been burned by so many Academy books - I was so excited to find such an interesting story. Luci and Pearly are ride or die besties, and after reaching their majority, leave the church grounds only to find that Luci is being hunted. This leads to the arrival of new characters, opens up a great underlying thread, and lets Luci discover what happened during those missing years.

Unfortunately now I’ve got to wait for book 2 to be published to see what happens after that great final scene.

Lucinda is definitely not your average orphan, half vampire and half fae. At 18, Luci can leave the corrupted orphanage she's been in for eight years. Little does she know she's in for one heck of a birthday. With her best friend, Pearl leaving too they run into trouble right away. This is where she meets her leading men, Kane and Tobias. Throughout her first year at B.R.A. she has flashbacks to her life before becoming an orphan but has a hard time figuring out what really happened. Until the end.
Also I do enjoy that her bestie also meets her own special man! It's one for the books, very unique and creative.

This book was so creative, original, and interesting. It creates this cool combo of religion and myth while having amazing, intriguing characters and a plot fill of mystery, steamy romance, and action. Lucinda is so awesome. She's a fighter through and through. She's surrounded by incredibly different people and they do compliment each other so well. As the crew grows, learns, and becomes closer their dynamic becomes such a fun dialogue to read. It was a wild ride from start to finish and I can't wait for what comes next!

Absolutely loved this story. This book sucked me in, I couldn't put it down it was enthralling. Lucinda is such a confident and kickass character, she is one of those characters that stay with you for ages. The guys are entertaining and her best friend is a great character.

I must admit I don't remember the rosary prayers like that but it fit into this story perfectly. I'm eagerly awaiting the next book in the series and hopeful it will be coming out soon as I can't wait to see where this will go.

Holy crap! When this book first started I wasn’t sure if I would like it. I’m not catholic, but it felt like it could easily become about religion and disrespectful. But let me tell you...this was amazing! Lucinda and Pearl deal with many trials before meeting their mates and learning more about themselves, each other and what they can do. So much happens for Luci in this first year and I love how much she has self confidence, self worth and is kind to those that deserve it. You all need to read and review this so we can get book 2 faster!

Wow, another great new series by this author. I liked that this one was a bit different in that the MC grew up with her memories from her early life missing, and she gets bits and pieces back throughout the book. I liked the guys in this book, at first one of them seemed kinda like a whiney loser, but he redeemed himself and by the end I really favored him more. And the end?!! Was not expecting that, and I do not want to wait long to find out what happens next!! If you like academy, vampires and fae than this book is for you!!

Interesting take on Catholicism and the paranormal

I want to start off with saying that I am not religious and was worried this would be to religious for me. It’s obviously mentioned but the main focus is not Catholicism but instead twists it to fit this paranormal world which I found fascinating. The MC is fascinating in her bada** abilities and also innocence. The characters are fleshed out and has the doses of all good fantasy books. Avery Songs books are often a hit or miss with me and I am not familiar with Veronica. But obviously this story was a major hit for me

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4.5/5

I like that the Bloody Rosary Academy was obviously included in the book, but not the main focus. I was hoping Luci would have more than just 2 men (which I think is necessary for a harem anyways) & it appears that Isaac will be the third. I wonder if there will eventually be a fourth? I suppose we will have to wait and see. I am a faithful Avery Song reader and will read anything and everything she puts out. I love when she collaborates with Veronica Agnus. Great start to the series!

Yes, a thousand times yes! Luci is amazing, I mean it, she’s kick ass and take names amazing. This story is equally amazing and I seriously want more ASAP! Just her character alone makes me want more, but throw in the fact that I have never read anything with a main character being Vampire and Fae, and she’s also a princess....to two thrones. Drop the mic 🎤
I know!!! You seriously have to read this now, go on, go download it. I’m ok with you coming to tell me I’m right.

Luci the vampire fae hybrid learns more about who she truly is and what her destiny is in this unique academy setting. With the help of her bestie Pearl and two sexy men who both want her, Luci and company embark on this journey together to grow stronger in order face whatever is going to be thrown at them. In typical Avery Song fashion there is a cliff hanger that leaves you wanting more. This was a great first book in the series and I am eager to see what next awaits Luci and company.

Avery's writing continues to lure me in. As I started this book, I was unsure of how I felt about it. as the guys, Luci and Pearl developed; that was it I'm in hook line an sinker. Sometimes knowing one's self and remaining true to an internal feeling is hard enough, but but to do it without a sense of identity is harder. knowing that there is more than just good and evil. I cant wait to see what Luci brings down on this world!

Avery and Veronica have created one heck of a story! I absolutely loved every single second of this book. Lucinda has become one of my favorite characters and I just love her friendship with Pearl. Also, both Tobias and Kane are perfect for Lucinda! I'm intrigued by Isaac and Isaiah and can not wait to read more about them.

Based on the name, I was a little worried what I was about to dive into. BUT of course Avery wouldn’t steer me wrong! This world was epic and it brought me through so many emotions that I didn’t know what to say for certain parts. Strength, courage, friendship, love and sacrifice. This story brought to life so much grace and I am completely in love!!!
