This cyborg never expected to become an instant father.

Surge is fascinated with newly manufactured offspring. He has studied them extensively, was one of the few medics present when the very first freeborn cyborg entered the universe.

He’s currently assigned to a battle station with an all-male crew. The probability of tending to an offspring is a dismal 0.0000 percent.

That changes when an unknown ship ventures into the sector they’re protecting.

Nu is an extremely exhausted single mom with a fussy newborn daughter. She has no time or energy for anyone or anything else. That includes a cyborg medic with gentle hands, brilliant blue eyes, and a voice deeper than space.

He claims she’s his female, the one being genetically designed for him. She has heard those types of declarations in the past.

Only a warrior without equal—and some much-needed rest—would prompt this universe-weary mom to believe in romantic love again.

Passion Surge is a short, light, companion story in the Cyborg Space Exploration series and is meant to be read after Doc’s Orders.

It is also a BBW Cyborg SciFi Romance featuring a medic cyborg, an extremely exhausted single mom, and the adorable little reason for her lack of sleep.

Short but sweet!

The Heroes: Surge - since the day he helped bring the first cyborg offspring into the world, he knew he was meant to care for offspring. He knew that was his place in the world and couldn’t get enough information on them. He studied everything he could about newly manufactured offspring and wanted nothing more than to have one of his own. Surge was a medic cyborg, assigned to a battle station and he was responsible for thousands of cyborg warriors. Though there were no females so his chances of doing what he really wants aren’t good.

The heroine: Nu - she is a single mother of an infant named Weilai. She is piloting a one-person ship into the far reaches of the galaxy. She is a first-time mother and is alone with her baby who is quite cranky, so she hasn’t gotten any sleep in days.

The Story: - When the battle station sees the small ship nearing cyborg-controlled space, they hail the ship and as soon as Surge hears Nu’s voice, he knows she is the one being created just for him. He asks Nu for permission to board her ship and scan the baby to make sure nothing is wrong with her.

This was a short book, but it was so cute that all these big tough male cyborgs couldn’t wait to have babies of their own that many of them made these little dolls to give to their future offspring, so they gave a few to Surge so he could give them to Weilai. They all couldn’t wait for Surge to bring the baby on the battle station so they could all hold the baby, they were arguing as to who would get to hold the baby after Surge.

I picked this up as a freebie. It can be read as a standalone. It’s a short quick sci-fi read. Unfortunately it didn’t really peak my interest or wow me. The characters in the storyline had no depth. It’s pretty much instant attraction and jumping into bed. I never really felt any connection between the couple and in their family unit. No growth. No character development. All the characters were flat and one note.

I won't rehash the book description, it tells the reader what to expect - to a certain extent, because in Cynthia Sax's case, there's always more than meets the eye. So, I'll just get down to the nitty-gritty: PASSION SURGE is one cute story! Cute Cynthia Sax-style, not saccharine-sweet but naturally-good sweet.

I'm not particularly a fan of babies in romances, and I loved Nu and her little newborn daughter Weilai. It was such a creative way to show us an entire new side to our favourite cyborgs. To witness those big cyborg warriors entranced by a baby is genuinely heartwarming, and I think we need more of that in these dark times - theirs as well as ours. PASSION SURGE is a short story, but brimming with emotion: I felt Nu's exhaustion, I could visualise the wonder and awe of the cyborgs; this is the sort of feel-good story I can totally live with!

Cynthia Sax is such a generous soul to offer us yet another short story for the holidays! For anyone who still hasn't read Ms. Sax, this is a perfect opportunity to discover her fantastic cyborg world, her excellent storytelling skills, and her brilliant writing, at times so lyrical it makes your heart ache. A newcomer will not feel lost, as the story stands entirely on its own, which is rather mystifying as it is part of a rather large series, but there you go, that's Cynthia Sax for you! Don't forget to read the Author's Note for a taste of the exciting tales that lie ahead.

Sweet and short

Though I generally adore Mrs Sax’s bloody, messy stories, this sweet short was exactly what Medic needed. Nu and Weilai needed Surges knowledge and protection, and he needed someone to call his own, to pull him from his “unexciting” life. Their story was sweet, with little tension and no bloodshed, and helped shine an endearing light on these charming cyborgs.

I'm not crying, you are

Wow Cynthia sure can pack in the emotional damage in such a short story. I shed more tears with this short story than I have with some full length books. Get this free read. I'm sure you'll love it as much as I did.

Such a delight!
I absolutely adore this holiday treat from Ms. Sax!
I love it when these cyborgs find their one and only. Surge has a mission in life that he has been unable to pursue, so far, but he has prepared himself. The very first thing that struck me is learning how many cyborgs prepare for future mates and offspring, and the variety of ways that took form. There wasn’t a moment throughout this short story in which there wasn’t a smile on my face and love in my heart! Oh, BTW, Ms. Sax, I really, really want to see story about Hoarse...

***Passion Surge***

Omg I might have to remove releasing Rage as my top favourite because Passion Surge just top my list. I laughed and cried reading this book. I cried for Hoarse the c model warrior who's making those Ulus dolls in the hope that he will meet his female. That is so sweet and sad at same time. I want his story please Cynthia and Relay also. I will never get tired of reading your cyborgs stories so please keep on writing them. I love all the cyborgs how they spoils and love Weilei our off spring. Aww this is the sweetest book ever.

I really love cyborgs

This was a super enjoyable read I love surge and Nu's story. Young mother in trouble from poor past decisions meets Surge a cyborg who has prayed for a mate and an offspring to love, cherish and protect. When they come together it's too make sure beautiful baby Weilai is healthy and protected they stay together because Nu is Surge's one and only compatible female that he has wait multiple !lifespans to find. I love that Ms.She's cyborgs can't lie and they can recognize thru fated mates from voice alone. They love , cherish and devote everything they are to those they 💘 love. Who in their right mind wouldn't want a cyborg of their own!💖😍💖

Surge

Surge is overwhelmed hearing the voice of his mate. His joy jumped light years at the sound of a baby ctying. All his brethren are waiting to welcome the new family aboard.

Fabulously romantic!

I love the story of Surge and Nu. It is very romantic and not as violent as some cyborg romances can be. I have enjoyed all the books I have read by this author. Each are unique. No cookie cutter writing for this author!

Another winner

I love the cyborg series. I feel the pain if their pasts, hopes for their future, and joy that they've found their HEA. if Sax could publish weekly, that would be fantastic.

The sweetest Cyborg ever

I just love Surge, his desire for a female was always there, but an offspring is even more for him to love. His fellow Cyborgs want so bad to have a female and offspring they’ve researched all about newly manufactured offspring’s wants & needs, whether physical or emotional. I’m hoping I get to read Hoarse and Relay’s stories soon. Short, but the sweetest.

Surge wants nothing more than he wants a baby... except perhaps, to find that one woman destined for him. Nu fled her home to save her family from the repercussions of her child.... fled straight into space.... and Surges’ waiting arms.

Surge is a medic cyborg working on a ship when his ship comes across another ship about to cross into cyborg territory. The female on the ship was trying to quiet a baby but wasn't having an easy time of it. Surge realizes as soon as he see's her that she is his mate and makes plans to help her.

She's been lied to by her baby's father so she isn't quick to trust Surge. So Surge goes about showing her that he means to stay with her and not leave her like the last guy and slowly Nu comes to trust him. Surge is happy to have found Nu and her baby because now she is his mate and he has a daughter to care for. The other cyborg's on his ship are looking for their mates but they may never find them. So when a cyborg does find his female, it's a special occasion.

I loved the other cyborg's, they were so happy for Surge and welcomed Nu and the baby with open arms. It was so touching to see how happy they were around the baby.

While this was a really quick read, just 72 pages, it was a sweet romance that touched my heart.

MAN, I love how devoted these cyborgs are to offspring. They don't care if the children are their children or not, they don't care about the circumstances behind their birth, they only care that they have someone to protect and adore. I'm not even talking about ONE of the cyborgs. ALL OF THEM ADORE CHILDREN. It's sweet and kind of awesome, especially since they were originally created specifically to destroy and yet they all have this deeply ingrained urge to nurture.

All the cyborgs are getting massive *heart eyes* right now. From the grumpiest right on down to the most easygoing.

This time around, Surge not only finds his special someone, but ends up with a newborn daughter as well. Honestly, the guy couldn't be happier. Heck, the entire battle station couldn't be happier. That kiddo is SERIOUSLY going to be the most spoiled child ever with a couple thousand doting uncles raising her.

As for Nu, the circumstances behind why she's struck out on her own with a new baby aren't terrible, by any means. She did what she thought she needed to do to protect her family. She's trying to be the best mother and daughter she can be and the demands of new motherhood are knocking her back. Surge's offer to help is much appreciated and Nu quickly comes to the realization that a cyborg isn't like any other male she's ever known. They don't lie and they protect what is precious to them with everything they're capable of.

And they're capable of a lot.

These cyborgs, man. They're great. It doesn't matter if they're taking out their enemies or changing a diaper, that give it their all.

This is a short story but so worth it. Surge is the medic on the battle station. He is like all the other brethren. They all want a female and if lucky, an offspring. Surges luck has just changed not only does he find his mate but he too has an offspring. I do love our cyborgs. It is such a happy feeling when they find love. Nu has been going through so serious sleep deprivation. With a new baby, I can only imagine how tired she is. There isn’t any battles in this story only a connection between two beings that are looking for that special someone. You just want more and more of these stories. I know we will get them soon.

Short and sweet.

There’s not much to this story. They meet, they bond (mostly off page), and then the HEA. It’s a very quick story with likable characters. The names were a pain but I figured it out eventually. Either way, it was a lovely installment in this cyborg universe. Can’t wait for more.

Enjoy.
