New romance and dangers abound in this companion to the crowd-pleasing Wicked Fox.

As Vicious Spirits begins, Miyoung and Jihoon are picking up the pieces of their broken lives following the deaths of Miyoung's mother, Yena, and Jihoon's grandmother. With the support of their friend Somin, and their frenemy, Junu, they might just have a shot at normalcy. But Miyoung is gett

Thank you all so much for reading VICIOUS SPIRITS, the companion novel and sequel to WICKED FOX! It was so fun to continue the story of Miyoung and Jihoon AND to explore more about Somin and Junu (who always held a special place in my heart when I was writing WICKED FOX).

Content Warnings in the novel for: grief, discussions of death

Whhaaaatttttttt?! I liked wicked fox, but...

I L O V E D Vicious Spirits !!!!

I really don’t want this series to be over, even though I will admit that was a PERRRRRFFFECT ending! Couldn’t ask for more 😊

I feel like I need to calm down, haha. I cried my eyes out at the end and just ah! What a GREAT book! This one focused more on Junu and Somin and I SHIP THEM SO HARD! Learning about Junu’s past was also so fascinating (I mean, he IS a chonggak dokkaebi— “handsome goblin”,

An exciting continuation of Wicked Fox featuring my favorite Dokkaebi & a certain feisty heroine 💖

With this book I had no clue how I was going to feel about it. I thought the first book in the series was good but there were a few things that I disliked in it. But, I was still interested in reading this and this is something that I loved. It was great getting to be in this world again and getting to see even more. I also really liked that this wasn’t in the POV of Miyoung and Jihoon, but centered on Junu and Somin. I absolutely adored Junu, getting to see his backstory and watching his charac ...more

Yes. For totally superficial reasons. I am going to read this series because of this cover. The first one is better but the reader in me cannot take it anymore.

this was SO fantastic, I cannot get over how amazing it is to return to the magic of the WICKED FOX world. this time centering Junu and Somin (but still getting to see Miyoung and Jihoon!) we get all sorts of magical drama as well as a hate-to-love romance and characters from WICKED FOX.

I love this series so much and I'd highly recommend. mayhaps I will reread WICKED FOX 😍

Just found out that this is The Big Book Box book of the month and it was published yesterday and I will get it within 2 months whereas usually in India a lot of books like this that aren't by Indian authors or aren't too popular come down to a reasonable price after as much as 6 months of publication if at all.
I haven't read the first book but if it means I get to read one with this heavenly cover, *opens a new tab, types Amazon* let's get it!

Wicked Fox had such beautiful folklore and I couldn't resist seeing what Vicious Spirits had in store for the reader. I really loved what Cho did with this sequel. The writing style and atmosphere stays true throughout the entire book. I connected with the characters more in this novel and the back stories were perfection. My favorite part is the lore and there is much more in this one. I found myself Googling left and right to learn more.

The novel picks up a little bit after where Wicked Fox e

It makes me so happy when the sequel is just as good as the first book! I love these characters, the found family, the setting - it's all just amazing. This is one of those fantasy series that deserves a huge fandom.

This was quite an interesting sequel to Wicked Fox which both wrapped the story nicely and elaborated on the relationships and the characters' backstories. I think the pacing was off though and some chapters definitely got repetitive.

This was one of my most anticipated releases of 2020 and it did NOT disappoint. Where the first book centred on Miyoung and Jihoon, this book focuses on Somin and Junu. Both are secondary characters in Wicked Fox, but they become protagonists in this book and I loved seeing their character development.

Character development was one of the strongest aspects of this novel, as we see Somin grow into her role as a protector, and Junu stop running from his responsibil

I went in expecting an amazing book and I got an amazing book. This book honestly surprised me. I loved Wicked Fox so much but I didn’t expect to enjoy Junu's and Somin's perspectives so much.

This book explored more darker themes but it was just as fun as Wicked Fox. This book moves so quickly so I would definitely recommend this to anyone that wants a quick book to read.

Junu and Somin were developed so well and I really enjoyed delving into their lives and seeing their perspective on the whole

After reading Wicked Fox last year, I couldn’t wait to read Vicious Spirits! And I really enjoyed this one. The love/hate relationship between Somin and Junu was so enjoyable. I liked seeing how their relationship developed over time and how they each continually challenged the other. Plus I loved the glimpses we get of Miyoung and Jihoon. And there’s ghosts. The plot was a bit slow at times but it worked because we got to learn so much more about this world and its supernatural inhabitants. Eve ...more

This was a lovely sequel to a book I never really expected to like as much as I ended up doing. This one was just like Wicked Fox, fun with interesting characters and amazing mythology. The one downside was the new romance for me, which moved quite fast, but in the end I really liked the characters it revolved around so it was fine.

Thanks to PenguinTeen for giving me a free digital copy via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Lingering between a 3.5 and a 4 star rating. I definitely didn't love this as much as I did Wicked Fox, and I'm not quite sure if it's because I went into this book without re-reading the sequel, which is something I like to do when a new book in a series comes out of if it's the last book in the series. I mean, I read my review of the first book and remembered the general premise so I didn't h

A huge thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Penguin Young Readers Group for sending me an E-ARC for an honest review!

This book was one of my most anticipated reads of 2020, and I was so excited to read this book. I absolutely loved WICKED FOX, and I was super excited to see what Kat Cho was going to do with the world and the characters.

A heartbreaking and captivating story that follows Junu and Somin the main characters of the book! I loved GUMIHO it was one of my favourite YA books of last Year - a terrific merged retelling story and magical urban life that Cho has written which has blown everyone's mind! Okay I really really loved this sequel. It had more adventure and higher takes than the first. In this book, we follow Miyoung, Jihoon, Somin, and Junu face the aftermath of their actions in the Wicked Fox, with Miyoung getting sicker by the day and spirits from the beyond haunting them at every turn.

One thing I really liked about this book, is that it didn't primarily focus on Miyooung and Jihoon, the focus was

First off cover is gorgeous and I liked this book better than first one.
I liked additional perspective of Junu and Somin, but we still get plenty of Miyooung and Jihoon.

Romace between Junu and Somin is so pure, story wraps up nicely but I wouldn't mind reading about this universe.

This entire book has my heart! This was such a rollercoaster and the entire time reading this I had to stop and take note of all of the Kdrama references scattered throughout the book. When I read Wicked Fox, there was something about Somin and Junu's characters that I loved so much. Somin was the strong protective friend and Junu (my fave) was the cheeky goblin that tried to get along with everyone. So, I was beyond exc

ARC provided by the publisher through NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

Vicious Spirits is an amazing follow up to Wicked Fox. I am officially a person who buys all Kat Cho books.

Vicious Spirits focuses on Somin and Junu, expanding their narratives began in Wicked Fox, but ever fear we still get tons of Miyoung and Jihoon, including their POV's throughout. The book has the same fantastic structure, interspersing myth, and backstory with the main thrust of the narration, and the same focus on c

As with any tragedy, it came about because he loved.

What a pleasant surprise.
Earlier this year I read Gumiho and while I quite liked it, it still left me wanting for more. And wow, the second book delivered.

Don’t get me wrong, I liked Miyoung and Jihoon as the main characters in the first book but in my opinion these two very just a little bit too dramatic and angsty. ( Nevertheless I liked how their story continued in this book. Poor Jihoon though. He rea

Vicious Spirits is the second book in the Gumiho world, following Wicked Fox. I was so excited to get more of this world, and it didn’t disappoint. This book is labeled as a companion novel, so I was surprised that it was a continuation of the storyline from Wicked Fox. I’m actually really glad the storyline continued though, because I loved the characters from the first book.

In Vicious Spirits, Miyoung and Jihoon are facing the terrible loss of family members. Somin and Junu are desperately try

OMG I loved this book! Vicious Spirits reminded me so much of my favourite Kdrama Goblin that I ended up rewatching the drama whilst I was reading this book. I didn't want this series to end so I ended up reading this book so slowly that it almost took me a month to finish it. I'm so sad to have finished this book but I loved reading it!

This book follows the characters of Somin and Junu, who were side characters in Wicked Fox. Miyoung and Jihoon are still a massive part of the story, but we get

Kat Cho used to hide books under the bathroom sink and then sneak in there to read after bedtime. Her parents pretended not to know. This helped when she decided to write a dinosaur time-travel novel at the tender age of nine. Sadly, that book was not published. She currently lives and works in NYC and spends her free time trying to figure out what kind of puppy to adopt.
