I met Marcus at a crematorium.

5 stars!! This book is yummy, tragic and just what a girl needs!!
Rochelle has seen better days. Actually the day this big, tall, a little scary man walks into her life is one of the worst days ever. But that day was the day her world was flipped upside down.
Marcus doesn’t love. He’s a hit it and quit it kind of guy. But one day this tiny, innocent, pretty girl is laying on the ground and he knows this up and coming journey is going to change life itself.
“..I’m unsure if I will survive Marcus.
His specialty is death.
My chances of survival are slim.”
Wow! I love how this author is gritty yet romantic in a non romantic way. That sure sounded confusing but ladies who are into alpha men understand. I am in love with Marcus!! That dead loving jerk!! I’m so curious about Snow and Blaze, I need more!!
I think the book was written beautifully and from chapter one you are hooked. I think any man in this book would drag you in and never let you go. I also love that the heroin, Rochelle, is not a helpless woman. She can handle her own. Shit she took on Marcus and won!!
If you can’t tell by this review the characters are phenomenal! This is a book you want to read!!

OMG what have I read! SSSOOOO Many feels...………..all good though
The characters in this one seriously embed themselves in your soul. I know in my had I shouldn't like Marcus, he is the complete anti-hero, the brooding, mysterious, a*hole that keeps you at a distance. He wants things his way and that's the end. Rochelle I loved this girl, she was broken when he met her, the feisty girl broken in grief.
As much as I don't want to like Marcus I did. Even though I wanted to junk punch him many many times, when push came to shove and Rochelle needed him he was there, giving her strength. ''
This was definitely a mix of Lovesick and Disbelief which I absolutely loved. This man who finds it hard to relate to the living will do it for Rochelle. She makes him want more if he can just admit it.
Rochelle and Tanika's friendship really imbedded itself in my heart too. Honestly I think this broke me.
It's now been 24 hours since I finished this book and all the emotions have stayed with me. it took a while for my mind to stop racing when I finished it last night and all I want to do is pick it up and re-read it again.

T.L Smith is The Mistress of the Anti-Hero!!!!
My emotions were all over the place while reading Kisses and Lies, I should have expected to be put through the ringer while reading this book, BUT..... I read this story without looking at the blurb which was extremely hard to do since this is one of my favorite authors and I always get lost within the story EACH AND EVERY TIME!!
Marcos..... WOW!! I went from loathing to loving every couple chapters but of course he made he fall in love with his stubborn hot rear!!
Rochelle is damaged just like the rest of us when it comes to losing loved ones, I felt her pain throughout the entire story and I connected with her on a deeper level because of it.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED their connection and the cat and mouse game they played with one another,
and the fireworks when they finally fall into one another is off the charts HOT!
Love the secondary characters as well and I HOPE we will get to see stories about Blaze, Kat and Snow!!

Rochelle was mourning the death of her grandparents when Marcus happened. Marcus is a bad boy with sinister thoughts in his head. He owns a crematory and works there. He loves his job, cutting off human parts and then burning them. Marcus is drawn to death, Rochelle is his salvation, someone who makes him lively. Rochelle knows he is bad news, and he wants her to walk away because he knows will taint her. Both resist each other but they end up together.
Rochelle grows up in a loving family, an out spoken sister, Kat and parents although she is really close to her maternal grandparents. She is fun and sassy. At the beginning I found her immature, most of her conversations ends with exclamation but as the strory proceeds she grew up on me. She can be a little unstable when it comes to the death of her loved ones.
Marcus on the other hand is complete opposite to Rochelle. He grows up with a drug addict mother and taking care of his younger brother Blaze. Blaze is playful compared to Marcus. Both brothers own and run the MC club, but Marcus works most of the time at the crematory and Blaze is the Club President.
I enjoyed this book, it gave all those dark and dangerous feels. In the beginning both of them started using each other, when feelings and fireworks change their stubborn hearts. Their interactions are hot. The "I love you's" come really late at the end of the book, mostly on Marcus's part.
I've heard Kisses and Lies is much tamer than the dark stories this author writes. Super curious on her extend of dark stories. There will be a story for Blaze and Kat and I would love to know more about the mysterious Snow. Can't wait!

5 PRETTY GIRL STARS!! Wow....just wow!! This story was so captivating....Life stopped for my day, except for Marcus and Rochelle aka Pretty Girl. Their story is dark, exciting, lots of feels, sexiness and just off the charts PHENOMENAL. T.L. Smith has done it again with a top read of my year....I know this already, so early in the year.

Omg ! I really don't know where to start with this one as this book was one emotional roller coaster for us!The story was exciting and intense and riveting and the characters just captivated me especially Reap/Marcus he was one seriously dark and dangerous man and a whole lot of mind -ffed.

No matter how messed up Marcus was that man drew you right in and saying he was a bad boy was not nearly enough but, one word sinister comes to mind and whats more women are drawn to him just ask pretty girl.
Rochelle comes from a loving family completely opposite of Marcus but, she in a sea of pain at the moment and Marcus seems to be her salvation but, is anything but, she is drawn to him and perhaps she sees something in him that others don't but, we always crave the things we cannot have.I really loved Rochelle's character she was a whole lot of fun, sexy,funny,tells it like it is kind of girl,sassy and has no filter and with the men she is currently hanging with can get you dead.We loved Marcus's pet name for Rochelle the moment he saw her all broken and lost he started calling her pretty girl which was kind of sweet .
The push and pulled and distance did nothing to the chemistry that Rochelle and Marcus had as their chemistry was explosive and hotter than hell.Marcus was whacked in my book but, when he was with Rochelle he was still a douche but, he was also something else as he could be loving and caring and compassionate and Rochelle was changing him because he was addicted to her not only sexually but, on some small emotional level just by being who she was.Marcus's possessiveness was hotter then hell and their is no doubt if someone tried coming between them there would be dire consequences.
Blaze was another interesting character as he could be sexy and playful and could turn on a dime and be deadly as sin.What a contradiction this man was.Blaze was intriguing and we are going to love getting to know more about him as you could not help but be drawn to the man who could go out of his way to help a girl he barely knows and yet , could hate someone so fiercely.
Overall this dark romance was a gripping read for us and we loved it and we love how unusual it was so much so as Marcus owned and worked a crematorium "yet", he belonged to and MC as well and his brother was the Clubs President and somehow they where partners not your typical biker and it is really unclear what roll Reap is within the club but, with a MC and its members being thrown into the story in any capacity made the story all the more interesting and Snow he caught my interest. lol

If you love Dark Romance this is the perfect book to dive right into the book left me reeling and uneasy but, it had me engrossed into the pages to the bitter end .The more I read this author the more we love her....

Why am I even surprised?
I know I shouldn’t be, but yet here we are.
I’m literally sitting here still completely baffled as to how I fell in love with a first class a-hole.
Yes people, Marcus is an a-hole of EPIC proportions and I am totally in love with the guy.
Marcus left me all kinds of hot and bothered with a side of I want to kill him. I can’t tell you how many times I went from loving him to hating him in a millisecond. He managed (and I have no idea how) to weave his way into my very soul, taking from me, melting my heart…..Then BOOM, within seconds I was hating him for the evil that he is. Whiplash, that’s what I got because man this guy is all kinds of whacked.
Rochelle. All I can say about her is that she is a beautiful woman, damaged and broken from extreme grief and hurt who just so happens to fall hard for a man who’s just plain wrong for her in every single way.
But like me, Rochelle never stood a chance because Marcus…..He’s all kinds of dark and dangerous, mysterious, a man of few words that completely captures your soul.
Kisses and Lies is simply PERFECT peeps. With just the right amount of angst, darkness and obscurity with an edge that will leave you completely stunned, you just can’t look past it. Alluring, seductive, disturbing and simply addictive. As much as Marcus and Rochelle’s story left me emotionally and psychologically drained, I couldn’t get enough, it consuming me until the very last page.
Get on it people, you are going to fall hard, and I mean hard!

when you start this book you find out that he cheated on her, then you start reading before the cheating.
lately, I've been binging T.L.Smith and this is the lowest rating I gave her, it wasn't a bad book, but it wasn't at the same level as the previous ones.
They met the day her grandparents are being cremated, he works there and as soon as she sees him, she wants him.
they start this 'just sex' relationship because she's too good for him and she'll accept anything he gives her.

This book spoke to my soul......
It’s no secret I’m a massive T.L. Smith fan and when I heard about this book I was captivated as to how the book would unfold.
What I got was so so so much more than I ever could have expected....Kisses And Lies very quickly skyrocketed to my most favourite T.L. Smith book. I devoured it, I was Intrigued from the first page and Marcus & Rochelle’s story.
Every element I want to find in a great book I found in Kisses And Lies. TL knows how to evoke emotions in her readers it’s one of the reasons she’s a one click author to many. KAL will tug at allllll of those emotions and then some.
Marcus is hot af, he’s closed off (I mean that comes with the territory of his job), he’s dangerous and knows how to get what he wants.....An unfortunate meeting with good girl Rochelle sets the sexual chemistry and tension throughout this book. Every single piece just as delicious as the next. I love the fight these two have, it make their story so much more captivating.
Can good girl Rochelle tame the dark & dangerous Marcus you’ll have to one click to see. What I will say is, you definitely won’t be disappointed with the ride.
Thoroughly recommended read this one, I wanted to read it again as soon as I finished it.

Rochelle is a good girl tired of being a good girl. Marcus is a good guy with a bad boy's rep who thinks he can't do love, isn't deserving of it. How can these two possibly be a thing? Make a thing work?
Well, they didn't really make it work for most of their story because there's so much push and pull. But honestly, I loved this story. It's delicious and sexy and a bit dark. Not truly dark, but not bright and light by any means. I guess you could call it grey, and angsty and yummy. I love how this dysfunctional couple made it through to the other side, after having fought so hard for each other, for their love.

I was a little weary at the beginning of this book. Because at first you are a little confused as to what and why but as the story builds it all becomes clear as to the direction it will take. This isn't a hearts and flowers love, it's one that is built from death, pain and need.
As the norm with this author it's most definitely not straight forward. It dark, twisted and you are often left wondering, why? Shouting are you stupid? What's wrong with you walk away. But in the end you just know that she will answer them all and give you what you truly want. I mean I can't say much else only that it broke me.
I honestly don't think I will ever forgive her for that scene. It destroyed me. I cried so much. This book is a beautiful broken love story. But my heart didn't break so much for the love story at all but for the friendship, that's what I really cried for. All will become clear in that regard when you read it.
This book is different and unique as always and I often wonder how her mind works. But it works magic for the stories she tells. This book is a great recommend from me. But be warned it will break your heart.

But my heart didn't break so much for the love story at all but for the friendship, that's what I really cried for. All will become clear in that regard when you read it.
This book is different and unique as always and I often wonder how her mind works. But it works magic for the stories she tells. This book is a great recommend from me. But be warned it will break your heart.

I I was given an advance readers copy of this book and have decided to write a voluntary honest review. I absolutely love this authors work I haven't read one book by her I didn't like. I loved how Richelle is full of sass and personality. Marcus on the other hand is the quiet brooding type that you can't help being attracted too. I want to know more about blaze and Kat too.

I'm unsure if I will survive Marcus. His specialty is death. My chances of survival are slim.
La Smith è una di quelle autrici su cui posso sempre contare per avere una buona storia, per avere pane per i miei denti. Kisses and Lies è il suo ultimo lavoro e l'ho trovato un ottimo dark romance.
Rochelle conosce Marcus in un crematorio, quando i suoi adorati nonni sono morti e inizia una sorta di amicizia, sempre se così si possa chiamare, perchè Marcus è abbastanza scontroso e sembra volersi liberare di lei a tutti i costi, ma Rochelle ha bisogno di una distrazione in questo momento e diventa parecchio insistente, così cominciano a vedersi e frequentarsi.
Marcus è un uomo pieno di demoni, un uomo a cui piace la morte, il fatto che sia proprietario di un crematorio e che si sbarazzi dei corpi che la banda di motociclisti del fratello fa fuori già da da pensare, ma inizia lentamente (molto lentamente) a cambiare dal momento che conosce Rochelle, la sua Pretty Girl, nonostante lei sia così buona per questo mondo di ladri. Non ho apprezzato per l'ennesima volta che venisse usato un passato traumatico per colpa dei genitori, insomma, anche basta direi, ne abbiamo fin sopra ai capelli, ma fortunatamente se ne parla poco.
I personaggi mi sono piaciuti entrambi, anche se spesso avrei voluto tirare testate ad entrambi, lui per essere così cafone a volte, e lei perchè a volte faceva davvero scelte stupide. Ci sono vari drammi, come la parte dell'amica di Rochelle che fral'altro mi ha rattristata parecchio, povera ragazza, e c'è anche una parte MC che non mi ha interessata minimamente, questo genere mi annoia a morte. Tutto sommato, un buon dark romance per tenerci compagnia in questi giorni bui di quarantena.

This book! The prologue had me so intrigued I couldn’t wait to carry on reading. I don’t think I put this book down once from start to finish.
I went into this expecting to love Marcus from the start. Yeah that wasn’t happening. He’s cold, standoffish and intense. But somehow he really grew on me. I’m a sucker for an asshole and he definitely lives up to. He screams danger, stay away but that only drew me to him more.
Rochelle was another good character. She’s down and feeling lost, she’s struggling with life. She knows from their first meeting that she needs to walk away but she doesn’t, she keeps going back and for once I understood why. There’s no way I’d walk away from Marcus, you’d have to drag my cold dead body away from him and even then I’d come back and haunt you.
This is another fantastic book by TL smith and one that I think it’s best to go into knowing as little as possible. Just buckle in and enjoy the ride. Also I’m gonna be needing Blazes story ASAP so if you could make that happen Ms Smith I’ll love you forever.

I Don't know why but, I always finish TL books in one day ... 🤷♂️🤐
It's really fun to finish a book a day.
But it sucks ... 😬🤣 Because good books always end too fast.
This is a bit different here.
Because it is made up of lots. What do I mean? There's a little weird story here ... like having sex in a morgue with some bodies on the sides. Creepy, right? But it's also funny. This book was a different and reality book for me with a taste of humor and even a little 'dark'. Such a wonderful combination for such an amazing book.

I had sections that I rolled my eyes because of some clichés. But it didn't make much sense from the story because the reading just flowed and flowed that I suddenly saw 80% and I was already tired.
And I continued the next day. I love TL's books always its books will be filled with a fine story with some good twists!
The end? Wow, he ran out of time too fast and left with the feeling of more. The story is told from first person to side by a look of Rochelle and Marcus separately. So great sub-characters and not just some character. But figures with a spine.
Waiting impatiently for the second book about her sister that it's going to be so perfect! 😈

Kisses and Lies by T.L. Smith is a standalone dark and gritty novel. We meet the main characters Rochelle and Marcus in a graveyard. Rochelle is there mourning the death of close family members which have left her devastated and Marcus is there because he is the owner of the crematorium. Thus, the story begins. Both characters are so uniquely different. Rochelle is one of those characters that you don’t know whether you like them or hate them and that’s mainly due to her incessant downer feelings and emotional dependency on people. But saying that, she is one of those characters that lives with you because she doesn’t realise how strong she is and she goes through an awful lot in this book that might break a saner person.
Marcus on the other hand is just one of those dark characters that you never really get to know fully. Even though we see him through Rochelle’s eyes and his brother, Blaze, there is just something so damaged about him as a person that you wonder if he truly feels emotions. That is what is so wonderful about both of these characters, they certainly don’t fit into a mould.
This story is like a dark soap opera as you delve into the drama which is Marcus and Rochelle, what people will do for love and what happens to people who feel unworthy of that love. There are some scenes in the book which are really hard to read and may be a trigger for some reader and I don’t think you’ll ever be emotionally ready to read some of the characters stories but man, are you intrigued by them.
The relationship that Marcus has with his brother is unique and I’m hoping that Blaze gets his own story (he needs it!). If you like your stories dark, emotionally raw and written in a way that will leave you bleeding and wanting more…then this is the book for you!

Kisses and Lies by T.L. Smith is one those reads you can expect to hold until you’ve finished. It’s one to literally make you cry and feel as though you’re a part of the story. This book destroyed me, and I probably say that about all of T.L.’s books but this one has risen to the top of my list.

I’m finding this hard to write without any spoilers, but my honest opinion is to just pick this book up and devour it! It hooked and slayed me right from the beginning.
Every character, every plot and twist were perfection and beyond my expectation.
This is one I would read over and over and it would each feel like the first time.

Wow! Wow! Wow! This book is EVERYTHING!!! Such a clever dark romance! Marcus Stone is no good. He works at a crematorium. That should of warned Rochelle that he isn’t your typical man. Rochelle meets Marcus on the worst day of her life, with a death in the family. He warned her about himself but she didn’t listen...Maybe she should of. This is one deliciously, dark and dangerous man and I’m all for it! Are you ready for this Twisted story? I don’t know if you are but it’s so worth it! I’m not saying anything else so you can discover this gem for yourself! Told in dual POV

And this is why TL Smith is a favorite author of mine!!! Holy HELL!!! I absolutely LOVED and DEVOURED Kisses and Lies! I could not get enough, and honestly I didn't want the story to end. TL has a way of drawing me into her worlds, and it's just PERFECTION!!!
The characters in Kisses and Lies spoke to me. Marcus, ugh! I tried not to like this brooding, mysterious, jerk, but even as cut off from the world as he wanted to be, he spoke to my heart. I just wanted to hug him. I knew it would take a strong woman to take this anti-hero.
And Rochelle, I ADORED her sooooo much! She's strong, and feisty, and is struggling. I don't want to spoil anything, but she's one hell of a woman.
I think Kisses And Lies is now my favorite TL book!! Well down woman! You continue to amaze me with your complex characters, and unique story lines! A definite must read!

This is a read that took me a little bit to get into but once it grabbed me I was hooked. I found the premise to be so interesting and the story really had so much going on. This book packed in the emotions and lots of highs and lows that kept my attention through the read. While the author did a great job at developing the characters part of me wants to know so much more about them.

If I could give this book 10 stars I would. This has to be the best book from TL Smith that I have read and I’ve pretty much read them all!
Omg Marcus sounds so captivating and intriguing. From the beginning I loved him yet hated him at the same time - probably the same as Rochelle.
From page 1 I was hooked - it was written so well - dark yet full of love and emotion. I could picture the whole story in my head while reading the words on the page. I am hoping there is a second book to continue on from this amazing one!

I devoured this book tonight, and have no words to express how much I absolutely loved it. It was raw, powerful, full of heartbreak, full of love, passion and so much more. These two completely opposite people, broken in different ways, have taken a hold of my mind and I can't stop thinking about them. This is one of the best books I have read from TL Smith yet, amazing 5 plus star read. I loved Marcus and Rochelle, I didn't want this book to end

I went into this book not knowing what to expect but I should never have doubted TL Smith. Yet again she brought an amazing story to life with Kisses and Lies. Marcus and Rochelle’s story is one that will steal your heart and keep you captivated till the end. 10 star read.

Oh wow, the queen of none flowers and romance has done it again!
Dark, gripping, edgy, I freaking loved it!

Marcus reminded me so much of Death in Disbelief from T.L Smith's previous Mafia series and I couldn't get enough of that series either, I am so excited, I want more.
Marcus owns a crematorium, his brother is president of an MC, I am dancing in my pants to get to Blaze's story.
Marcus is dark he shows no emotion, spends his days with dead people and prefers their company to the living.
The man is a mystery, a dark puzzle and you have to really get close to know were the pieces fit and no-one gets close accept his brother.
Rochelle is feisty, a redhead, it really suited her character, she is definitely a woman with backbone, she first meets Marcus when her grandparents die and she's at the crematorium, there's no zinging moment when she meets Marcus, it's pure light being drawn to darkness that lures Rochelle in and the want to get to know Marcus more.
They become each other's obsession.
Kisses and Lies is one rollercoaster of a read, prepare yourself not to get off until you reach the end.

T.L. Smith! She has become a new favorite author of mine. This is the second book of hers I have read and loved it and it is so different from the first book of hers I read.
Kisses and Lies is about Marcus and Rochelle. How they meet is unusual. They meet in the face of death. Rochelle had just lost her grandparents and Marcus is the owner and works at the local crematorium her grandparents are brought to.
She feels this pull towards Marcus that she cannot explain and vice versa. He tries to explain to her that he is death. Death follows him and he proves her right. Marcus tries to ward her off and show her what he likes and does. It bothers her at first but their connection is too strong. Marcus's only family is his brother Blaze and they didn't have a great upbringing. That comes into play a little and why he is the way he is.
There are so many ups and downs. This book is definitely an emotional roller coaster ride and is not for the faint heart. Marcus has his faults but he actually proves himself wrong and it takes him a while to notice it. He is so set in his own ways and is kind of use to being alone, that when Rochelle comes along, she kind of turns his world upside down. He tries to push her away but she wouldn't give up. Eventually, he realized she wasn't going anywhere, that he had to give up the game because she broke through his walls without him even realizing it.
