Published in 2017 and based on research by Accenture, this book is perhaps more relevant than when first published. Also known as 4th generation manufacturing this work is about how to realize the benefits of digital transformation in the plant line. Partly a textbook on how to transform a legacy factory and partly a well articulated vision of the changes needed to thrive in the world as it changes.

What the book highlights, without using the current idiom, is the way Web3, or next version of the Internet, is impacting all of us. The outcome based economy, IIoT, empowered employees, and smart and connected systems are all part of this revolution now embodied by terms such as user control, decentralization, blockchain, and collaborative economy.


Just as architect Christopher Alexander changed the software development world through his book, A Pattern Language, I expect this book to have an enormous impact on Web3 development.
