Ugh Sam just knows how to slay me with her words!
This is by far my favorite book, or series since this is book 2, of S.S. Richards so far. I have loved every single book of hers and she just keeps getting better and better.
This is book 2 of the series and boyyyyy is it a good conclusion! I loved everything about Elena and Maksim. Their story is so different and how they met and just everything, aahhh I just loved it all!!
I don’t have more to say cuz you need to read it to find out all the juicy details! Just know that you will NOT be disappointed.

That ending was perfect!! After all that Elena had been through, I’m glad to see her realize she deserves her HEA. There were times I had an idea of what was happening and I just wanted to shake her and tell her to get out of her own head and speak to Maksim but then I remember that there can’t be a great ending without the conflict. I really liked how Maksim wasn’t afraid to share his feelings and how hard he was willing to fight for Elena, especially after how hardened he was in book 1. This time it was Elena that needed to learn she deserved love and light in her life.

What an incredible conclusion to the Beasts In The Dark duet! S.S. Richards did an amazing job of writing the intense story between Maksim and Elena. This book was more of an internal struggle for both characters and how they battle their demons. I really enjoyed reading this book and duet.

We get the conclusion to Elena and Maksim’s story. This duet by S. Richards was dark and intense. This book was a lot more subdued than the first one but still just as thrilling. It was more heartfelt as you watch the pair deal with issues out of their control. In the end they find their way back to each other and get their hea.

Elena and Maksim's story grasped me from the very beginning in Book 1 At His Mercy. In His To Keep picked up right where book 1 left off continued to grasp me into their world.
The story continues to be very dark and intense. I felt every emotion the characters felt that's how strong this author's writing is.
Story is well written, with angst, twists, turns and secrets.

“His To Keep” de S.S. Richards es el segundo y último libro perteneciente a la serie “Beasts In The Dark”. Es un romance dark con muchísima intriga en la que los personajes tendrán que hacer frente a sus problemas individuales.
Venganza es la palabra que no se puede quitar de la cabeza Elena Romano, por ello a su vuelta a los brazos de Maksim Pavlov no se dejara acobardar, ni mucho menos la dejen fuera de los planes que Maksim tiene contra su tío. Pero no todo irá como lo planeado y Elena se verá otra vez atrapada y siendo el títere de su tío, pasando por momentos horribles. Mientras Maksim hará todo y usará todos los medios para volver a recuperarla.
El libro anterior me había dejado dudas sin resolver, y gracias a este ya está todo en orden. Ambos libros son muy parecidos en contenido y suspense, con un orden y tiempos para solucionar los problemas de cada protagonista.
En cuando a Elena estuvo valiente, brava y con las mismas ganas de vengar a su tío, al igual que el primer libro. Alejarse de Maksim fue muy duro, y con la vuelta y la venganza todo se complica. Me esperaba este giro dramático, aunque no de tal magnitud, pero fue fantástico.
Ahora bien, mi relación con Maksim fue un amor odio impresionante, aunque no odio en todo el sentido de la palabra, ya que es imposible odiarlo. Su completa terquedad respecto a Elena cuando salió del cautiverio, me hizo ver lo demasiado desesperado que estaba por recuperarla igual con demasiado ímpetu. Pero es que al mismo tiempo lo comprendía e incluso lloré en demasiados momentos de impotencia, en que ambos protagonistas no daban el paso de dejar todo atrás y olvidar el horror. Aun así, Maksim estuvo perfecto dándole un poco de espacio y encontrando una solución.
"Así que dime", continúo. "Díme cuánto tiempo más necesitas... Quiero saberlo porque ya no puedo soportar estar lejos de ti. Cuando te alejaron de mí, no quería otra cosa que encontrarte y ayudarte a superarlo todo.”
Sinceramente ambos libros han sido todo lo q buscaba en una historia dark como esta, completa y con unos personajes que te hacen sufrir con ellos, pero también buscar un amor como el que ambos tienen. Y ya deseando leer lo próximo de S.S. Richards q estoy segurísima q no me decepcionará

"His To Keep" by S.S. Richards is the second and final book in the "Beasts In The Dark" series. It' s a dark romance with a lot of intrigues in which the characters will have to face their problems.
Revenge is the word that Elena Romano can't get out of her head, so when she returns to Maksim Pavlov's arms she won't be intimidated, not even out of the plans Maksim has against her uncle. But not everything will go as planned. Elena will be trapped again, and be her uncle's puppet, going through horrible times. While Maksim will do everything and use every means to get her back.
The previous book had left me with unresolved doubts, and thanks to this one, everything is now in order. Both books are very similar in content and suspense, with order and timing to solve the problems of each protagonist.
As for Elena, she was brave, courageous, and equally eager to avenge her uncle, just like the first book. Getting away from Maksim was very hard, with the return and the revenge, everything gets complicated. I was expecting this dramatic turn, although not of such magnitude, it was fantastic.
Now, my relationship with Maksim was an impressive love-hate, although not hate in the full sense of the word, as it is impossible to hate him. His complete stubbornness towards Elena when she came out of captivity, made me see how desperate he was to get her back. But at the same time, I understood and even cried in too many moments of impotence, when both protagonists didn't take the step to leave everything behind and forget the horror. Still, Maksim was perfect at giving her some space and finding a solution.
“So tell me,” I continue. “Tell me how much more time do you need? I want to know because I can’t take being far away from you anymore. When you were taken away from me, I wanted nothing but to find you and help you get through it all.
Sincerely, both books have been everything I was looking for in a dark story like this one, complete and with characters that make you suffer with them but also looking for a love like the one they both have. And already wishing to read the next S.S. Richards that I am sure will not disappoint me.

His to Keep is book two in the Beats in the Dark series by S.S. Richards and it picks up where the first one left off with Elena and Maksim being brought back together. As we know though in a dark, mafia romance that this book is not going t be plain sailing and Elena ends up in the hands of her and Maksim’s enemy only to face torture both mentally and physically.
This story is really different in the fact that it shows you Elena’s capture, rescue and trying to come back to who she was whilst Maksim kind of has to sit on the side-lines and watch her fracture. As with the first book there are some steamy scenes (not really until later on in the book though and we’re caught as readers in this heartbreak as we watch two people who love each other completely fall apart! The book certainly leaves you guessing on what is going to happen and there are scenes that some readers might find disturbing.
The flashbacks that Elena had really added to the story as did the vulnerability of Maksim who is doing everything he can to bring the Elena he knows back! S. S. Richards is definitely a writer who I will keep writing as her books keep me on the edge of my seat, have just enough darkness and edginess to keep you guessing and have wonderfully written characters.
If you like your books dark, gritty, steamy and exciting then this is the book for you, although I would recommend that you read book 1 to being with so you know who all the players are!

I finished this book today and I’m speechless.
S. S. Richards knows how to go dark and make you feel what her characters endure! This second book shoves you right back in where we left off and you’d better hold on to your seat.

Loved the story. Had a few nail biting areas where i was holding my breath so afraid for her.
Would have loved a little bit more meat with the epilogue.

This is the sequel to At His Mercy, which I reviewed in January. At the end of that novel, Elena comes back to Maksim and resolves to take down her uncle with him. In this novel, she is quickly taken captive by her uncle and is held in a secret place where he keeps all of the slaves he is training for sex trafficking. Meanwhile, Maksim is doing everything he can to find her. Although separated, the two of them use the love they have for each other as motivation to get through it. Secrets are revealed about Elena from both her and Maksim's point of view, which made it really interesting to see how they react.
Up until this point, I was fully invested in the story, but I had a few issues with Maksim after he finds Elena. He wants them to go back to the love and intimacy they found with each other by the end of the first book, but I hated how he went about it. There are a few times he grabs Elena and turns her to face him, which I did not like at all. She literally just got out of a sex trafficking prison where she was beaten and drugged. I felt like Maksim should have been more sensitive to that and been more cautious with Elena. To me, she was really struggling, and he didn't want to help her. And it wasn't even like he was trying different things and failing, he just didn't want to acknowledge what she went through. He was trying to force her back into normalcy. He does give her space at one point and finds the one person who can really help Elena, which I liked, but after that, the book quickly comes to an end. Within five minutes, Elena talks to this person and then turns to Maksim and they're immediately okay again. It felt rushed to me. I needed one or two more chapters of Elena and Maksim finding their rhythm again.

This author nailed it with a unique story line and characters that sizzled throughout this book with chemistry that was off the charts. Their connection ran much deeper than just sexual with both characters needing to find their way through a history of darkness before they could find the light. Well written, captivating and is easily a book I could read again. I have definitely put this author on my go-to list for future releases. Well done!
