This is the sixth book in the saga and poor Yaya has lost her memory. Plus she is lost in a snow storm. Plus she is being upsides by bad guys. But other than that she is fine.

Good story set in Shanghai during the invasion of the Japanese at the start of WW2

Yaya and Tuduo find themselves separated during the entirety of this volume. Tuduo has recovered while Yaya is figuratively and literally lost. After being dragged to the woods by a wolf, Yaya cannot remember much of anything. Meanwhile, Tuduo forms a working relationship with a very unlikely ally… more of an unwilling temporary partner to be sure.

The despicable scumbag Zhu remains hot on the trail of our two plucky protagonists. It starts to get a bit irksome though how, not unlike Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees, Zhu seems to somehow be in the right place at the right time. Did I mention that I hate this guy? He is one of the most vile villains I have ever read in a kid’s graphic novel. They really push the limits with his behavior and actions.

I didn’t quite enjoy this entry as much as the others. A lot does happen and a lot of it pushes the story forward, but more of a 3.75 for me than a true 4. Can’t put my finger on why, but it’s probably because our main character Yaya is suffering from amnesia of some sort. Never been a fan of following a character going through amnesia. I miss the Yaya we knew and loved from volumes 1-5. Having her in this compromised state for the entire volume muted affairs a bit. Here’s hoping she regains her faculties sooner rather than later.

And also, screw you Zhu! A thousand times over.

WHY? Tuduo, you were right there! Don't doubt yourself just before you could have found Yaya! Now Zhu has her and she doesn't remember who he is or that she needs to get away from him. I'm too stressed. My library doesn't have books 7 - 9 but I've requested them to be ordered. Don't know how long it will take to get them, but I need them now! Still loving the artwork! The story is so engaging and exciting! I really feel for Yaya and Tuduo's struggles.

Reading a bunch of these in a row made me realize I didn’t care about any of these characters, so giving up on the series.
