Read this the first time in 1996 or 1997 when I was a seminary student attending a workshop with the author. The book offered helpful perspective--some of which I didn't fully appreciate because I was interning with a large metropolitan church at the time. I reread this 1o years later when I was in a different setting. The material was helpful, practical, and true. I reread the original edition again in 2025. Curiously, many of the principles/issues Walrath raised 30 years ago still apply, even though technology and younger/ entrepreneurial church planters have found ways to narrow the gap between larger, suburban churches and smaller, rural churches.
