This can be a very useful tool for kids (and their parents) struggling with OCD. The author is very knowledgeable and breaks down information into bite sized pieces for kids to understand. Having the kids become OCD detectives, and including other kid's stories, makes the reader feel like this disorder can be tackled.

I think this book is marketed correctly. It is targeted at ages 6-11. The language is easy to understand and the author draws many visual pictures, for kids to see in their minds, that are simple to remember. The artwork in the book is colorful and expressive which I think will be highly engaging for kids to look at as well.

Unfortunately for me, my son is 17, I scanned through the book, reading it aloud, and had him think about scenarios that would apply specifically to him. His OCD is in regards to unwanted thoughts only so approximately half the book was not applicable to him. I was able to easily skim over the activities to find ones that could be helpful.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Callisto Publishers/Rockridge Press and was under no obligation to post a review.

I bought this book thinking it would be perfectly for body-focused repetitive behaviors (BFRB), but though some exercises are useful, this workbook is more for kids with OCD more like washing hands often, or checking many times if they closed the fridge. Overall it is a nice book anyway and the illustrations are beautiful.

some CBT focused interventions which I don’t love for OCD but other than that a good resource!
