After not even receiving an interview for a job that I really should have been a shoo-in for, I decided to suck up my pride and consult the library for some job searching and job application resources. After months of job searching and very little result, I think it was time to take some action. I was wary, most career related books seem to me like they would be preachy, a little cheesy and mostly non-applicable to my situation.

Fearless Resumes quickly dispelled that presumption, it is quick to read and a tremendously helpful little guide to rewriting and shaping your resume to highlight your unique skills and achievements. I really like the concept of the "power proposition", which sounds pretty buzzwordy but actually helps to streamline your skills and employment history into a strong paragraph to sell yourself.

Having completely reworked my resume for the first time in years, it already, thanks to this book, feels a lot more powerful and more indicative of my skills and strengths. Lots of working examples and practical activities make Fearless Resumes a useful guide for anyone looking to revamp their CV.

Fearless Resumes is very useful as a resource to write a basic resume. Marky Stein presents clear instructions to focus energy on capturing the attention of employers - "rivet the reader" - and to keep distractions out of the resume. The samples were well-written and representative of several industries and career levels. Even though I eventually worked with a career consultant to fine-tune my own resume, I am glad that I borrowed this book and then purchased it to keep it in my own library for years to come.
