Turbulent Skies #2

Refined by Fire

Rate this book
Thirty-thousand feet in the air ... and they're all about to die.

Meredith is a world-renowned author and speaker whose books and Bible studies have blessed millions of Christian women.

When she boards Flight 219 headed home from business, she has no idea that her fame, ministry, and dedication mean nothing to the terrorists who will do anything to subdue her plane and silence anyone who dares oppose them.

Refined by Fire is the second novella in the Turbulent Skies series, an unforgettable collection of heart-stopping, nail-biting thrillers about strangers who find themselves fighting for survival on the doomed Flight 219.

When Alana isn't writing, it's likely that she's on the floor wrestling with her kids. Or playing outside with her kids. Or chauffeuring her kids. Or trying some random science experiment with her kids. But she's probably not cooking or cleaning.

Alana is a homeschooling mother of three who loves to write, hates to cook, and enjoys reading a good book almost as much as she enjoys writing one.

Alana won the Women of Faith writing contest for "The Beloved Daughter," her debut inspirational novel. "What, No Sushi?" is Alana's first book in a chapter-book series for kids published by Do Life Right, Inc.

I must admit I had my doubts as to how many decent stories an author could wring out of one particular event. But so far I've read three of them, and they're all good! This one wasn't as exciting to me as the first two, since I already knew how the events on the plane would unfold, but I enjoyed reading Meredith's perspective and seeing the way God used the trauma in her life, along with certain things she was already going through. I also enjoyed the way the story jumped back and forth between events in the airport and on the plane, with some clever little connections/transitions between them. Now I'm looking forward to the next book in the series!

Alana Terry’s book Refined By Fire:
In this book you will read about Meredith and the trouble she is running into to get home. Grandma Lucy Is once again working on the people she meets. Justin and West are scared and Meredith is trying to keep them calm. I had the honor to review this book for the author for a honest review.

A short easy read with another character's experience while flying Flight 219 to Detroit. The story starts in Book 1 - Terror in the Skies. In Book 1, Willow tells her story while she and Kennedy are on Flight 219 highjacked by Bradley, a parent upset with the fact that his children's school was built on contaminated soil. In Book 2, Meredith tells her story of being fired from her top position at Grace Ministries and she too ends up on Flight 219. She befriends Justine and her little boy, West, as they are sitting in the same row of seats. Grandma Lucy takes a bigger part in the eyes of this character, Meredith, and more scripture is used as Grandma prays over the shooter, Bradley, while he has a gun to her forehead. Definitely more terror in this one, but I couldn't quite picture the way things were happening. Alana Terry writes great stories but this is not one of her best.

I love how Alana has taken a plane hijacking and making a whole series out of it! Each book is coming from a different person/perspective. This one is coming from Meredith. Meredith is a renowned author/business owner. She has had some disappointing news before boarding the plane.

This novellas are short and very easy to read. I highly recommend them!

I received this novella from the author for my honest opinion.

Fast paced story from beginning to end. Events fall into place for an unexpected and dangerous airplane flight. Through each moment, Meredith must choose faith over fear. Circumstances and the people around her play a crucial role in the outcome. Great read. I received a complimentary copy of the book. No review was required.

God certainly has a way of getting your attention! These short stories are amazing. I like the authors style with this series. Letting the reader know various characters on this flight and their renewed relationship with Jesus Christ.

This took the story of the doomed flight from the first novella, told over again from the perspective of another passenger. It is an interesting way to tell a story about how lives can be interconnected while in the same scenario, this time of a flight to Detroit.

This gripped me! I’ll admit, I wasn’t sure how Terry would pull off a companion novel to the same story (I’d already read from two different perspectives), but she did!
