Paislee Grimes thought she had it all figured out—solve a huge historical mystery, secure the mayor’s recommendation, and ride the success of her forensics project straight to the college of her dreams.
If only cracking the case on all these murders and grave robberies wouldn’t take up so much of her time…
As the leaves begin to fall in small-town Connecticut and application deadlines creep closer, Paislee must put her project aside to focus on solving the crimes of a killer who’s dead set on carving a date into Paislee’s own Halloween night.
Everyone is a suspect, and nothing seems set in stone. For anyone else, the burden might be too much to carry, but Paislee has no choice.
If she can’t find the killer soon, the future she’s spent so long weaving will be destroyed—and Paislee will be just another skeleton.
I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and any opinions expressed herein are my own.
This is the third book in the Bones and Drones series. It is not a standalone book and it does have a bit of a cliffhanger ending. [I am assuming that the series is going to continue?] You have to read/listen to the first two book in the series to have any understanding as to the events occurring in this book. It is best if you actually read all of the books in a row as each one picks up soon or immediately after the last one ended. While the author provides a bit of a recap, it is really not enough to fully understand the previous events from the other books.
This book mostly is a wrap/solving of the mystery of the from the first two books. Paislee is coming more into her own and a bit of a romance is brewing. Overall, it was an enjoyable wrap up.
The narrator, Carrie Coello, is the same for all three books in the series and did a fine job.
I enjoyed this book but you really have to have read or listened to the first two books in the series to have any hope of knowing what was going on, I have listened to both books and I still had to stop and think who people were because the author doesn't really go into back ground history in this book. I still enjoyed it and it was good to finally solve one mystery. Don't expect the books to have endings because the killer isn't always caught and continues where the last book left off. The characters are interesting and there is enough to keep you listening until the end and beyond. Nobody does Halloween like this town and the author has a good imagination and lots of fun with it and the situations the characters find themselves in. I can't wait to listen to the next book to find out what happens next. Paislee is still on the hunt for the town's founding Father despite there being a killer in town and she is the one he is sending threatening messages to. She has to put a name to the skeleton head she carries around in her back pack because every body deserves to be called by there real name and he has been know as John Doe for long enough. She also has finally been given permission to go back to school to finish off the year but her bodyguard needs to attend the classes too. But before they get there the graveyard is vandalized and a body is found in one of the disturbed graves. Will the town have to close the pumpkin lighting ceremony this year just to keep everyone safe? With college dead lines fast approaching Paislee and her Boyfriend Gabe will have to pull out all the stops to unmask a killer on the one night a year when everyone wears a mask. I liked the narrator she has a very distinct voice that she uses well.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request, and have voluntarily left this review. Paislee's life is just getting crazier and more complicated. Now she's under police protection, what else could go wrong. Someone is robbing her beloved grave yards, and burying new bodies. She knows she's so close to solving everything, but the answer is just out of her grasp. Chaos and humor is the result in this delightful mystery that is filled with unique and interesting characters. Well worth the listen.
I’m a big fan of this series. Paisley and Gage are extremely enjoyable characters to read about and I love their relationship! All the characters are unique in their own way, and that’s what I love about this series. Such an enjoyable end (I think) to the series. I’m sad to think it’s over, but I am intrigued about the slight cliffhanger left! I definitely recommend this series. It’s a great read, with some fun characters
I loved this book! I have enjoyed every second of this series. I thought it was just these three books but this one left off on kind of a cliffhanger.. So I am guessing/ hoping there is more!
I will write a full review when I am not trying to get my baby to sleep in his crib. It's a nightmare.
Although the previous episodes had murders and poison that imitated death, this is the "all will be revealed" episode. That's not to say the other episodes could be missed, as this is a story of a real life scenarios, that certain things happen, causing the next sequence of events to occur. So the whole series is the complete picture revealed. So who is the murderer? You'll have to read the author's rendition to find out! Super Cool!
