Lingerie is the foundation for every woman’s wardrobe, but it’s also where we feel the most pressure to be beautiful—and feel the most shame at falling short of impossible standards. Concerns about our age, body type, family expectations, jobs, and romantic partners crowd into the dressing room with us. The result is a bra that fits other people’s standards instead of our ...more

I really didn’t know what to expect with this book. I’d already read one lingerie book that gave me the lowdown on everything undies, so I was really hoping it wasn’t going to be too similar. Thankfully this was a world away and in such a wonderfully different manner. Natalee Woods’ book is so far from a reference type book there’s no comparison. This one made me laugh and cry multiple times over and I found it hard to put down for long. I basically inhaled it. She just has a way of keeping you ...more

No one supports a woman more than the women that measure her for a bra. Lingerie salesperson Natalee Wood shares with readers snippets of her time with customers from all walks of life that she has helped find the perfect fit. From the widowed father struggling to buy his daughter her first bra to the breast cancer survivor who shares her thoughts on life. Heartfelt and honest, Wood provides giggles and tears.

Would I have discovered this book if not for Netgalley? Probably not, but I am

The title for this memoir has changed since I downloaded it and it was a good change to more accurately fit the text. Within the first few pages I suspected where Natalee worked and as I read on I was 100% sure. She nailed the management, HR, and ambiance. The lingerie department wasn't where I worked so I was anticipating to read about the more intimate side of retail.

This memoir is funny at times and deeply moving at other times as she reflects on the personal relationships she has with her

Boob Job: Confessions of a Professional Bra Fitter tells about the years the author, Natalee Woods, spent working in lingerie departments as a certified bra fitter. Woods shares anecdotes about the customers she assisted (some of whom were more difficult to deal with than others), along with memorable events in her personal life.

What I Liked
It's not surprising that my favorite part of the book was the many stories Woods shared about her work life. Her customer encounters went from humorous to

What a total delight this book is! I enjoyed every minute – I was stuck to it - even got up early to finish it.

Once I realized that I was going to be spending up close and personal time with Natalee and her customers, I began to remember all my own time in those tight places. Body sensitivities, awkwardness, feeling so very conspicuous, and watching myself age in that relentless damn mirror. . . . .she captured all of it. I was impressed with

I could not put this book down! It had me giggling, tears in my eyes and rooting for Natalee through her adventures in the dressing rooms. It was a really easy read and definitely would be a great book to read while relaxing in the tub or on the beach with a glass of wine. Each character that Natalee met helped her in that given time and gave her advice that helped when she needed it the most.

One star feels a little harsh, but I really disliked this book and would not recommend it, so ... one star it is.

I was actually pretty excited to read this book -- I tend to like chatty, slice-of-life memoirs like this. I was curious to know what it's like to be a bra fitter; I assumed it was like any other mind-numbing retail job, but who knows.

Woods writes with the purplest prose, almost to the point where I couldn't understand what was going on. Her writing will wander with the hopes of

Funny, heartwarming and giving tons of support to the everyday person whether in search of the perfect lingerie or a way to heal the heart. 5/5 stars for the most supportive book I've read in awhile and will come back to again and again.

When I took this book, I thought I would read about the everyday situations that come with a bra fitter job. I expected funny episodes, insights into women's feelings about their bodies, the establishment of relations between women.
There was so little of that! And when one of these episodes was described I was surprised to find that the main character made a very cruel description of women's bodies. There is no bonding or empathy among women. There are a distance and a mean streak of the woman

This book was funny at times but at other times it dragged on a bit. I never really wondered what a bra fitter would think before but now that I know, I appreciate good ones a bit more now. I understand that this book was about her personal life too but it seemed to slow the book a bit down. Otherwise, pretty light and fun book.

I received and ARC from NetGalley and of what I read, I found this book to be grating. I thought it was going to be a fun insider's look but the character was unlikable and I felt that her accounts of life were more whiny and woe is me than anything else.

FULL SUPPORT is a memoir written by a former bra fitter (what I assume is) Nordstrom, filled with reflections on womanhood, societal beauty standards, and the lingerie industry. Natalee Woods spent many, many years of her young life sizing women for bras, becoming so proficient at doing so that she could eyeball a woman’s bra size on sight. She met lots of characters in this job who all play a role in this book - a stripper, a psychic, a woman who just underwent a double mastectomy, a demanding ...more

I had high hopes for this book, but unfortunately was a little let down. The stories told from the dressing room were interesting for sure (and have me convinced I need to go for a bra fitting), but it felt like a stretch for the “lessons” to be all tied together. And I feel like the book didn’t have a very nice conclusion. I was waiting for the last chapter to tie things in a bow (because the book was building up to that) and I felt like it just ended.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of Boob Job: Confessions of a Professional Bra Fitter!

As a former Victoria's Secret employee, I related to this book so much. I worked there the summer after my senior year of high school and through my first two years of college breaks. It was hands down the most fun and uncomfortable job I have ever had. The personal customer stories had me laughing and were so heartfelt that it felt as if I was back working at VS. Natalee's tale is full of finding your self

This is a memoir that reads like a novel...I even double checked to make sure it didn't say 'a novel' on the front! It was a nice, 'cozy' read. I guess I never thought too much about such a career, but I could see how some of the stories were 'fitting' to that job... The author also tells of some things going on outside the store, in her personal life....so maybe that's why I was thinking it was somewhat like a novel? Anyway, it was interesting to read how that job works.

I have never read a book by a bra-fitter before, and Boob Job definitely surprised me ... not only with its unique subject matter, but also its bust-a-gut wit and literary style. 5/5

Grateful to NetGalley and Amberjack Publishing for the ARC. Opinions are mine.

Full Support has had a long journey to publication, which is still to come in the next few weeks. It is Natalee Woods’ debut memoir of her 10 years working in a fitting room in the lingerie section of a high end store. If you have ever worked in retail, you know some of what Natalee feels, but her job was much more personal to the women she fitted. We live in a world where 8 out of 10 women are in the wrong size bra, and this candid memoir is for every woman out there as it shows how society ...more

I really enjoyed this book! This was a wonderful story of a woman who worked for several years as an official bra fitter. But her experiences in the fitting room will have you laughing and crying. From the strong encouragement of management to maintain high sales ratios to the myriad of individuals who enter the sacred fitting room, you will ...more

The first thing I noticed about is how easy of a read this was. I read it within a day because the language was easy to read and comprehend.

Upon reading the description of the book, I was intrigued but unsure of its premise actually being interesting. Boob Job: Confessions of a Professional Bra Fitter left me happily surprised. Although it took me a second to warm up to Natalee’s sense of humor, especially considering she calls children “dirt balls” on the very first page… I actually almost stopped reading it after that. But, I stuck with it and it was a fascinating read. I loved getting a glimpse into each customer’s story. Both ...more

If you are looking for a book that stimulates thinking and pondering about life and in particular how women are seen in society - how they are "supposed" to look; dress etc - then this IS the book for you.
Natalee takes you on a trip through the various dressing rooms of her customers - the difficult ones; the easy ones; the sad ones; the insightful ones. Through her words we learn so much more about ourselves as women.

This would not typically have been a genre choice for me, but the description snagged my attention. Kudos to the author for realizing early on that this experience was a story in the making, and keeping notes as her work progressed. .I'm sure Natalee had many slow, quiet days in her younger days working as a certified fitter, but naturally, the unusual and crazy fittings were the ones featured in the book. It did transport me back to some of my own experiences in the fitting room. Local stores ...more

This book follows, loosely, the life of a bra-fitter in various up-market department stores in the States. It touches on her own life, the loss of her mother to cancer and her relationship with her father, interspersed with anecdotes about the women she meets when they come to be fitted for bras. All life is covered - the ugly, the glamorous, the sick and the beaten down.
The result is a thought-provoking and fascinating read, which made me reflect on my own life and feminity. I didn't give it a

Thank you to Amberjack Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I enjoyed the stories the author told from her life as a lingerie saleswoman - her customer encounters were everything from heartwarming to shocking, and her tone was engaging. Although some of her comments on her customer's figures were a bit harsh, I did feel that the respect she treated each person with came through, and the harshness may well have been a coping mechanism. As many others have, I thought this would be a series of stories about people and situations that simply can't be made up from the perspective of a bra fitter. The intimacy and conflicting feelings women have about their breasts and how to best clothe them sets this above the usual retail misery stories.

The author does a great job of describing both the personalities and circumstances in her adventures. Her candor about her feelings is consistent and adds a nice element of reflection about the
