This is unlike anything I have read before and it was FanFreaking tastic! Breaking the 4th wall ??? Vic is a great - strong female lead and I love the snarky attitude. I wish I would have found this series sooner!

The main character in this series is a young woman called Victoria Marmot, who has inherited a house, far from where she was brought up, that apparently belonged to her parents before their sudden deaths wile sailing around the world. Victoria is only seventeen, nearly eighteen, so still at high school, but also multi-lingual and a martial arts expert. She cant believe her parents have left her so suddenly and although she is alone, apart from a distant uncle who only has to check on her once a ...more

Our heroine is a tough, snarky teenager who discovers there is a lot more to the world than she ever new.

This is both a coming of age story as well as a quick ass urban fantasy series. The stories are very well written and easy to read, with a complex and diverse setting that is nicely detailed. The Victoria Marmot collection was a pretty solid series. I averaged 3-4 stars per book. Some were a bit quicker paced and action packed, some were really long and kind of boring. The first few chapters of the first book really sets the tone for the rest of the series and if you don't enjoy the POV and how it is written right off the bat, then this series is going to be slightly difficult to enjoy.

I received a review copy from Hidden Gems, in exchange for an honest review.

This is a crack treated seriously/farce series of book. There are send ups of popular paranormal, urban fantasy and fantasy tropes and series.Along with forth wall breaking,a self aware (not a) Mary Sue heroine, polyamory and turning tropes on their head. This is told in first person.

This is a convoluted series and is best left for the reader to find out.If the above paragraph sounds appealing the then I highly recommend this series. It won't be for everyone though.

Virginia McClain is an author who recently stopped daylighting as a Spanish teacher in Arizona and switched to writing full time in Winnipeg, Manitoba. When she's not writing she can often be found climbing to the top of large rocks, running on trails, backpacking, and generally engaging in any excuse to go play outside. Now that she has moved to the Great White North she will probably add ...more
