The question is, should I have read it first?

Fantasyland - OR - The Rising? - Did I prefer one over the other? Did it work better reading or listening first? Should it have been one couple per instalment or journey to the end as a team?

It’s not a question of if I liked one over the other storyline/character-wise, more about how it was presented. While I absolutely love listening to audiobooks, I feel you somewhat lose the impact of a truly good story while listening. A slight distraction can hav

5 Fabulous ⭐️ for the series!

Simply the best fantasy romance series I’ve read so far, this year 😘.

So, when I started read book #1, I didn’t even realise this series about those kingdoms across the ocean which mentioned for a few times in Fantasyland series. I’ve never thought she would write a series about them, not until a few chapters in book #1 when we met Frey and 26yo Viktor. Yup, that’s right, Frey and Finnie’s son is an adult now and ready to be in charge one of his grandma’s territory, a
4+ "Love and Sacrifice" Stars!

This was good! A lot of swooney romance a little action. A bit of gibby, gibby this and that. These books are looong. You know KA. Overall though, this series was awesome. Oh and my most favorite barbarian savage Dax Lahn makes a brief but quite memorable appearance that made me squeee!!! Lol! For fans of Kristen Ashley's Fantasyland series I recommend this series. Happy reading!

For some reason I can't find the ebook version on my gr, that's an issue for another day....for now my problem is the fucked up ending of this book. Teddy did some shit but for crying out loud he didn't deserve this!!! WTF! And for the other three to end up married is a disgrace! Every secondary romance in this series had tragedy but he'd already been through so much he deserved a HEA dammit.

The series was ok at best....full review sometime

And so it ends! Overall, I enjoyed this installment. There’s a lot to delve into, so I’ll be back later when I’m thinking more clearly

I had mixed feelings regarding this fantasyland spin-off. For the most part, I’ve enjoyed it, and all in all, this was a good ending. However, I've had some issues with the M/M, MMF, and brutality depicted throughout each installment. Also, there were many characters' storylines to keep track of; the main story somewhat became muddled. Regardless, I liked the four main couples and their journey towards love. ...more

I. AM. BROKEN 🥺 KA why you gotta do us dirty like that 😭😭😭 I loved this book! I will admit I was a bit underwhelmed with the battle and I was a little deflated for the last 2 chapters of the book due to this! Aside from those 2 things! I can't complain about anything! The character growth/progression was on point but I was most impressed by TeDre or Teddy, Serena and Silence' growth, it was so rewarding to see how much they developed throughout all 4 books and I was so glad to be able to experie ...more

I'm in the minority, but overall this series was disappointing. I don't regret picking it up, or slugging through 4 books to get a conclusion, but I won't be rereading.

For me the 3rd & 4th books were the best, probably because I finally figured out all the players and connections. I'd recommend picking up the glossary from KA's website before starting the series - It would have helped immensely if I had it from the beginning.

3.5 Stars - Book 4

Check out my review for the first book, The beginning of Everything in the series since the below reviews don't rehash stuff I've already mentioned or go into details about the story. More just random thoughts. I listened to these when they came out, earlier this year but didn't get around to posting reviews.

Overall: 2.5 stars
Narration: 4 stars
Story: 2.5 stars

Sigh can't believe how small the actual 'big' battle was ??? All that talk and built up etc and we get a very small amount of it. Not to m

Definitely a captivating series. It just barely qualifies as adventure but still a captivating series. After waiting so long for the great evil to rise and threaten the earth we get an exciting battle with magic, dragons, and zombies. Then its over cause romantic stuff has to happen. Urgh!! I really felt done with the four couples and their nauseatingly sweet lovey doveyness. I would rather cut on the romance and have a full on war against the forces of evil. Not a tiny little battle. And!!! *Mi ...more

Amazing, epic journey.
I struggled through the first bit of book 1 and then I was GONE - lost in the story.
Books 2 and 3, I devoured.
Book 4 took me from release date until this weekend to finish. I savoured this slowly. Quite honestly, I was a little frustrated in the beginning so took a breather and then savoured the rest by reading a bit a few times a week.
A beautiful ending and the absolute BEST epilogues.
SO much crying. So many happy tears, too.

4.5 for this one too.
So close to a 5 star but not quite.

I loved it and was sorry to see the end.
It alludes to a new series that will be connected to this one and Fantasyland!
That makes me very, VERY happy! 😊😀😄

It was a great adventure.
Could have been better, but it was satisfying.
Kristen Ashley is now on my list of fav authors. Although I was introduced to her while trying to find my "big listen" reads for a book club, an oh what a suprise it was when I picked the first in this series.

The Rising, the 4th in this series was just truly amazing. The heros and heroines and other host minor characters were outstanding. The development of some of the characters were written well over the series and you can see the growth in this 4th book. The suspense leading up to the big cl

Amazing set of books. These might be her best stories to date for me. I love fantasy books, and Kristen these made me run the gambit of emotions. I loved loved loved the path to redemption for Teddy. There is beauty and tragedy in his journey. Through all the books I have tried to pick a favorite Hero. I simply cant. That is good story telling. THIS should become a major film, it would be stupendous! Im in awe...

I really enjoyed this series overall but unusually I wasn't sad to come to the end. I think that's because I read all four back to back but I also think (I can't believe I'm going to say this about a KA) the books were too long!!

One of the things I love about KA is that you get a lot of her for a few quid but in this case I feel maybe the main characters became established too soon and a lot of the story then rested on the secondary characters and I LOVED them but I then felt like I wa

OOOOOOOOOOOOH LORD give me a bit this book offing killed me

Took me a while but I finally got to this review, because this series deserves a review for each installment!

This book. MY GOD THIS BOOK.
It was everything, it made me cry and laugh and smile and just. Ugh so many emotions for a fictional world with fictional people.

This series was such a rollercoaster of emotions so if you like a less graphic game of thrones mixed with fantasyland vibes with cultural differences, prejudice and sexism con

Enjoyed the finale. And, let’s face it, any author who can make tears stream down my face while reading deserves those stars! Also, I love the extended epligues that Ms. Ashley gifts us with. The reader is always able to close the book with all ends tied up and a contented smile on their face.

This was the culmination of a whole lot of story telling so it is long and in depth and there’s a lot going on. However it closes up so many storylines and gives us little kernels for what could be the future. There’s war and death and love and life and while these books aren’t for the faint of heart they are one interesting tale.
I am blown away and I don’t know why I am so surprised. I’ve read and re-read the Fantasyland series and this takes place in the same world. I don’t know why it didn’t resonate with me then, and maybe it did and I just don’t recall, but this series, I am astounded by Kristen Ashley’s ability to build these worlds. To write stories about lands that don’t exist. To write magic. It is no secret she is one of my favorites, probably my favorite in the M/F world. She’s a Queen to me. I just love her. ...more

THIS.IS.AMAZING! What a ride! This really exceeded my expectations. I love the Fantasyland series hard and was doubtful this one was going to be as good. Well, it’s better! I am in love with this world, as usual, the wiring sucks you in from the start and haven’t let go not even now that I’m finished. And so many characters to love. I’m glad I waited for all the audios to be available, didn’t stop listening. I really hope this two series get their own and very well deserved TV shows. Great job, ...more

Utter perfection! Weirdly I felt it was a soft Focus game of thrones! I was a tiny bit disappointed And how the characters from previous series were used. At times it felt like there was no need for them to be there and they weren’t moving certain things along. ??

I don’t want to say very much more because I don’t want any spoilers but I Gave this five stars because it was, as I said , perfection.

I saw some negative comments here to say that she brought her harder erotica writing to her fantasy s

All my love (and tears) is/are for Teddy
In my opinion, fantasy is where K.A. truly shines as an author. This was a really cool world, amazing characters, but I wish it were shorter. I struggled getting to the end of the series. It wasn’t that I didn’t enjoy what I was reading, but I felt like the plot could have been tightened. It felt like I kept reading the same, same, same until something big happened. Rinse and repeat until the end. That being said, I think readers of the series will be happy with the endings each of the character ...more
Skimmmmmmmed so many battles and needless descriptions to force what could have been a 3 part series into the 4th book. All the main couples had already hooked up and who gives a shit about this Beast-dude.
Yet, my fav couple Serena/Chu get more time, Teddy’s story made this Reader sob buckets of painful tears, and no one writes better for that emotional punch than Ashley.
Not a fan of Ashley’s commitment to squeezing in MMF - though as with the romance here, it makes sense.

I've given up on this audible.
Even though I've listened to the previous books I wasn't invested enough to dredge through this last one.
I will try again when we get the book.
