Chocoholics #1

Love and Lists

Rate this book
Love and Lists is the first book in the Chocolate Lovers spinoff - Chocoholics: The foul-mouthed offspring tell their stories.

Twenty-five-year-old Gavin Ellis has always had the love and support of his family ever since he was a little boy and couldn't stop talking about his penis. He's also always had their unsolicited advice and uncanny knack of embarrassing him at all costs. Now that he's an adult and trying to convince the love of his life to love him back, things haven't changed very much from when he was younger.

When Gavin's best friend Tyler suggests he make a to-do list of items that will ensure he wins the girl, Gavin is one-hundred-percent on board: after a few six packs.

After puking in the shrubs, a bad experience with Viagra, a Sex-Ed course gone wrong, and a slew of other mishaps courtesy of his family and friends, Gavin is pretty sure this list will be the death of him.

Sometimes, trying to make someone love you with a list isn't always the best idea. Especially when "Show her your penis" is the first "to-do" item...

4.5 Grow-up stars!!!

description

WARNING: DO NOT READ THIS IN PUBLIC.
If you don’t want to look like the crazy homeless who has laugh-attacks in the middle of the street read this in the privacy of your house.
Unless you want to be the crazy person who laughs alone in public, in that case: Go ahead. Go read this in a full bus or something.

If you’re expecting the cute, penis-obsessed and hilarious little Gavin, forget it. He’s now all grown up and a sexy man. (Still hilarious, tho.)
And working in the family business, Seduction & Snacks (In the seduction part of it!), he is in love with Charlotte (Liz’s older daughter) since he was a little children.
The downfall? She is her best-friend forever and he believes she doesn’t see him as anything more than a friend.

description

So he and his-friend, Tyler, decide to do a list with all the things he has to do in order to make Charlotte notice him, and people, get yourself ready because this is going to be AWESOME!!!
What he doesn’t know is that Charlotte is also in love with him since she was a little child, and all the things that she does are also in order to make him notice her. But there’s the second downfall: Their families are completely bat-shit crazy and always get in the middle.
No really, all of them are COMPLETELY F*CKING CRAZY.

description

One thing, if you expect the adults from Chocolate Lovers to have grown-up and now being responsible and moderate adults…yeah, I’ve got bad news for you.
They didn’t.
They're still crazy, absolutely hilarious and still say the most inconvenient things in the most inconvenient situations. They’re awesome as ever.

And the sons and daughters of all of them (Including Gavin and Charlotte)?
They are even worse than their parents. If you think Tara Sivec couldn’t write funnier characters than the first ones, wait until you meet the second generation. (I’m a little sad we didn’t get to meet Sophia, tho.)

Bottom line? Gavin and Charlotte’s path to forever isn’t going to be easy, but believe me: It’s going to be awesome and you will cry laughing-tears. I love the best-friend-to-lovers kind of story and theirs didn’t disappoint.

description

So, if you’re in need of a good laugh: Go read this book.

4.5 FUNNY stars!

Have you read the Chocolate Lovers series by Tara Sivec? Seduction and Snacks, Futures and Frosting, Troubles and Treats... first things first. If you are wanting a good laugh, you have to read them. Some of the funniest books I’ve ever read. EVER! In the Chocolate Lovers series, we meet little Gavin. Claire and Carter’s five year old bundle of joy. Gavin is one of the very best parts of that series. Seriously the most hilarious kid ever. As an adult, he is just as funny. Gavin is now twenty five years old. He’s working with the family business. This is his story...

 photo f4be93ec-9839-4109-9820-990576398832_zpsc836232a.jpg

Gavin has been in love with his best friend, Charlotte for a long time now. They are close. They talk constantly, spend all their free time together. The problem? Charlotte has a boyfriend. And it’s not Gavin. Gavin only wants to be with Charlotte. To the point that if he can’t have her, he doesn’t want to be with anyone else. He is in love with her, and super attracted to her of course.
I’m like a fucking dog in heat when it comes to her. My poor penis wants to hump her leg and she just wants to be friends. I feel bad for my penis. He’s had a rough life. I love my penis and he’s totally getting the shaft. Ha! See what I did there?

One of the new characters introduced, Gavin’s buddy Tyler has an idea. A list. They will create a list that will get Charlotte to notice Gavin. To want to be with Gavin. The list is pretty comical. Things are constantly back firing. Gavin has kept the fact that he is in love with Charlotte under wraps for sometime. Now Gavin’s parents (Carter and Claire), Charlottes parents (Jim and Liz), and Uncle Drew and Aunt Jenny know. They want to weight in... give some advice. Drew and Jenny are some of my favorite characters. They are just too funny!

Drew-
“Want to know what the ten erogenous zones on a woman are? Number one: vagina. Number two: it doesn’t fucking matter if you’re touching her vagina right! You’re a disgrace. Your mother should have swallowed.”

Jenny-
“I had Chlamydia once. It wasn’t so bad. Antibiotics cleared it right up.”

Then there is Tyler. Tyler is an interesting man to add to the mix. I won’t ever look at My Little Pony the same...

Tyler-
“Maybe it’s stress. I get stress hard-ons sometimes. If The Gap gets really busy and I don’t have time to fold all of my jeans, it can turn into a problem.”

Then there is Charlotte. Charlotte is a comical character as well, but she has her own secret. And her own list.
After all the mishaps, will Gavin ever be able to tell Charlotte how he really feels? Risking their friendship is scary when he doesn’t know if she feels the same way or not...

This was a short read, maybe took me two hours to get through, but I laughed the whole way through it! Tara Sivec’s writing is just so freaking funny! If you’re looking for a great LOL book, definitely pick this one up!

"Love and lists. Just remember, love and lists. Nothing else matters."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

You're also probably wondering how in the hell I can possibly be twenty-five years old when just yesterday I was four. I know, it's a tough pill to swallow. I'm not a foul-mouthed, cute little kid anymore. I'm now a foul-mouthed, cute adult. I take after my parents, so obviously I'm good looking.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

This was pretty much me when I found out Gavin was going to have his own book. It did not disappoint. I loved the Chocolate series so much. And when Gavin was a little kid, he was hilarious as hell. I could not wait to read this. Right from the very beginning, I laughed and didn't stop till the end. Gavin is now twenty-five years old and the Creative Director of Liz's Sex Toy store, which is part of Seduction and Snacks. He is in love with Liz's oldest daughter Charlotte, but the problem is they grew up together and he knows she only sees him as a friend. In comes in his über hilarious best friend, Tyler (whom I loved for his weirdness). Tyler comes up with the idea of making a list of things Gavin should do to make Charlotte fall in love with him, and so commences the funny mission. Little does he know that Charlotte has a plan of her own.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

My penis is like a magnet and she's a hot piece of steel. As soon as she walks into a room, the magnetic pull begins and I feel like I have to hold on tight to something. Otherwise, my penis will drag my body over to her and slam itself up against her, like a dog grunting and humping some poor, unsuspecting person's leg... My poor penis wants to hump her leg and she wants to be friends. I feel bad for my penis. He's had a rough life.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

So while Gavin tries crossing things off his list, his family tries to get involved. Yeah, as in Claire, Carter, Liz, Jim, Drew and Jenny. It. was. so. freaking. funny. You know their advice is going to be really helpful... NOT! They may be all older now, but they are still so immature. I know, shocker! They haven't lost their crazy sense of humour and still shout random verbal farts. It was AWESOME!! Oh, how I missed them all. Poor Gavin just wants Charlotte to notice him as a man and not a friend. But things keep going wrong for him.

There was an incident involving Viagra. (It was so FUNNY!)

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"I'm afraid to touch it. What if it gets worse?"

"Dude, you don't have a gigantor penis. It can't possibly get any bigger. Maybe it's stress. I get stress hard-ons sometimes. If The Gap gets really busy and I don't have time to fold all my jeans, it can turn into a problem."

Sometimes I wonder why we're even friends.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

And ladies... if you are trying to be sexy for your man, mustard will not do. Or any condiment that can be put into a burger. (Well, unless he's into that...) USE chocolate syrup, or caramel, but stay away from the mustard!!! I almost bust my gut from laughing so hard.

I loved all the characters. I really LOVED Tyler. He was such a goober and so funny with his "crush" on Claire. He would always flirt with her and joke about plotting Carter's death so he could be with her. At least I hope he was joking. He was so much fun and kind of reminded me of Drew for all his inappropriate remarks. I'm really hoping he gets a book next. It would be so great!

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"Shut up about my mother."

"No can do. She's going to be mine one day. You should just start calling me dad now," he says nonchalantly.

"I'm going to punch you right in the ball sack if you don't shut up,"I warn him.

"Don't take that tone with me, young man."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"I'm not crazy, right? This means you love me?"

I laugh and shake my head at him. "You idiot. Of course I love you. I loved you even when you were mutilating my Barbies and calling me labia..."

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

Tara Sivec even made car sex really friggin hilarious. It was all cramped in there and not very steamy like it looks like on T.V. I laughed so hard in that scene. Especially when Charlotte started thinking about Children of The Corn because they were in a corn field. It was definitely something to remember.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

"Really, my phone isn't broken," I reiterate.

"Dude, Charlotte is
really good with phones. Ler her touch it," Tyler snorts.

"Gavin, If you don't give me your phone right now, I'm going to reach into your pocket and take it out myself," Charlotte argues.

"I am so turned on right now," Tyler whispers.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

There were SO many scenes that had me gasping for air and wiping tears from eyes. It was that humourous. I also loved that Tara Sivec incorporated the joke about the 'long distance phone calls' into the book. Gavin had totally forgotten about it, and I could not stop chuckling when he realized what it meant. While, Charlotte had no clue. I seriously couldn't put this book down. I REALLY enjoyed it. It is the PERFECT book to read after reading a dark book to lift your spirits. It totally did that for me and I didn't even read a dark book prior. My stomach hurts from laughing so much. I recommend this book to everyone who has a quirky and immature sense of humour like I do. I am so looking forward for what else will be in store for this series. I can't wait to read more about Gavin as well as all of the other 'Chocolate Lovers' children. I know it will be awesome!

4 Laugh out loud Stars

She has no idea that every time I’m within three feet of her my penis perks up like a meerkat when it hears a noise. It’s fucking Meerkat Manor in my pants.

So have you ever sat there and thought to yourself, I wonder how many times the word penis can be used in a book? No? That's just me? Really? Huh. Well I'll bet you're curious about it now. Let me appease your curiosity then. 83.

Remember the mouthy little shit, Gavin, from the Chocolate Lovers series? Well, he's now a grown up mouthy little shit. He's also secretly in love with his best friend, Charolette, who happens to be the daughter of his mother's best friend. There's just a few tiny problems with that. Biggest one being that every time Gaving gets near Charlotte

But not to worry, because he has plenty of help from his family and friends.
There's his mom and her friend, Liz
"You should buy her flowers."
"Or jewelry. Women love getting jewelry."
"I never cared much for jewelry. I was happy if he just remembered to put the toilet seat down."
"True. Put down the toilet seat. Ooooh, make her a mix tape! Those are always fun."
"Nineteen-eighty-five called, they want their idea back."
"Suck my dick."

There was Gavin's best friend, Tyler

I'm pretty sure I'll never look at My Little Pony the same after him.

Then there was my favorite, Drew
Quick, what are the ten erogenous zones on a woman? GO!"
"GAAAAH! Fuck! Um, neck, lips, feet, inner thighs—"
"BZZZZZZZZZZ. WRONG, FUCKER!"
"What? Those were totally right. And I wasn’t done yet," I argue. "Those are wrong. Want to know what the ten erogenous zones on a woman are? Number one: vagina. Number two: it doesn't fucking matter if you’re touching her vagina right!" Uncle Drew shouts. "You are a disgrace. Your mother should have swallowed."

And of course what would it be without Jenny
Gavin, you have a girlfriend?! Oh my gosh that’s so exciting! I have condoms in my purse if you need them. They’re the kind with insecticide so they totally work,"

I laughed like a crazy person throughout the entire book. But while I thought it was cute and funny read, I never really found myself connecting all that much with Gavin and Charlotte. I think maybe the two of them as a couple kind of got lost in the hilarity that was the rest of this book. That's what ultimately made this less than 5 stars for me.

If you're looking for a lighthearted, hilarious read, you know you can never go wrong with a Tara Sivec book.

4.5 Love me some grown up Gavin stars

I totally loved Gavin in Seduction and snacks with his talk about his weiner and some adorable laugh out loud moments I was so so happy to hear that we were getting an Adult Gavin...

I was totally.....

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

So last time we read about Gavin he was a boy, he had a filthy mouth but we all loved him.....

 photo boygif_zps142914b4.gif

Now he's 25.....
 photo whatgif_zps4db8420c.gif

What you say he's no longer a boy but a Man... yup you got that right!!

Ok ok lets move on...

The Story

Gavin is in love with Charlotte they've been best friends with each other since they were kids, but because they are best of friends Gavin worries that Charlotte doesn't want anything else, he thinks she thinks she doesn't want anymore than to be friends, is it too weird to be more?. So with the help of friend new character Tyler they make a list to make Charlotte to look at Gavin differently to look at him as more so they can be together and not be friends but a whole lot more:
 photo loveandlists_zps92526597.jpg
Can I say before we go on that Tyler reminds me a lot of Drew seriously STUPID and SILLY comes to mind but yes FUNNY!!!

So they go on with this list and find ways for Charlotte to notice Gavin and obviously this is Gavin we're talking about so yes you can expect this list to maybe not go as planned...
Meanwhile Charlotte is pining after Gavin and doing exactly the same thing with her very 'Gay' friend so there story unfolds and comes some seriously Laugh out loud moments. Bit of advice people don't read these books when your waiting for your children to come out of school otherwise you may get a few funny looks nope read this at home where you can laugh at your hearts content.

Gavin
 photo Gavin_zps733c669a.jpg
I love Gavin I mean he was that embarrassing child in seduction and snacks that asked questions that were errr let me think about that one!! some questions about his little weiner, and now he's a man he actually has a big dick that how can I put this that he actually likes to play with. But what I love about him is although he is his true funny self he is also sweet and loving and he just wants to love Charlotte he wants to be with her and be her man, he has the best parents and Tara really knows how to write a funny romance that truly made me laugh but fall in love with them as a couple and with Gavin as a man.

Charlotte
 photo charlotte_zpsb502c3d3.jpg
Charlotte is independent and she knows what she wants, she keeps trying to get Gavin to notice her and god bless her whyyy isn't he interested in her? mmmm interesting!! well we know the truth...

These books are hands down the funniest books I've ever read and this book is a good follow on from Seduction and snacks books. I love Gavin and Charlotte but I also loved being back with the gang they're still young at heart.

I'm not going to say anymore just read it....

Enjoy.

"I'm not crazy, right? This means you love me? You idiot. Of course I love you. I loved you even when you were mutilating my Barbie's and calling me labia. I'm pretty sure giving you my virginity should have been clue number one."

And now I’m picturing my penis rising up like a phoenix and repeatedly smacking the table like he’s knocking on a door. Maybe that would impress her. “Hey Charlotte, look what my penis can do!”

Remember the kick ass, sword loving little boy who wasn’t afraid to ask the big questions?

”My name’s Gavin Morgan! Who the hell are you?”

Well, Gavin’s all grown up and in love with his bff and childhood friend, Charlotte. What’s a man-boy to do when he finds himself in love and lust with his very best friend in the entire world? Make a comprehensive list of ways he can get her to fall in love with him, along with relying on the helpful advice of his friends and family.

Drew reaches into the bag he brought with him and begins pulling out various items: a blender, a wheel of Vermont cheddar cheese, and a jock strap are the first to land on my desk.
“Eeeew, that’s…no. No that’s not on the list, nor will it ever be,” I reply with a shudder.
“It should really be on the list Gavin,” Aunt Jenny tells me seriously.
“What the hell does a blender and cheese have to do with my sex life?” I ask, picking up the wheel of cheese from my desk and turning it over in my hands.
Uncle Drew quickly grabs it from me and sets it back down. “All in good time, little asshole. Leave the cheese alone. It needs to stay at room temperature.”

As much as I enjoyed this story, it left me wanting more. More Gavin/Charlotte time spent together. More time with the ‘rents and the rest of the crew. Gavin’s twenty five and Charlotte’s twenty two and they both read like eighteen year olds with absolutely no experience. This would’ve been a great NA novel with a little tweaking. Maybe I was expecting too much because, let’s face, Gavin was a badass at 4. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I wanted a little of that 4 year old badass to find its way to this book. The potential for this book was HUGE and it never quite lived up to my expectations, but I’ll still rush to read any and all books Tara Sivec writes for this series.

I just LOVED catching up with the Chocolate Lover’s gang!!

Gavin has grown up A LOT since the last book in this series. He is now twenty-five years old and is in love with Liz and Jim’s daughter, his best friend, Charolette.

"I'm not a foul-mouthed, cute little kid anymore. I'm now a foul-mouthed, cute adult."

Here’s the thing, Gavin and Charolette came across like teenagers to me. I think eighteen years old or so would have worked better for their inexperience and dialogue. Besides the fact that their story was a bit immature for their age, I did enjoy Tara Sivec’s humor and boy did this book have a lot of funny scenes.

”She'll have the most expensive thing on the menu."

Perhaps, too many funny scenes and not enough depth or story, I just don’t know. I definitely enjoyed the story and the new characters that were added into the mix.

I am excited that there will be more books in this series, because I sure do have a sweet tooth!

If you haven't sampled Tara Sivec's work, here are the other books in the series prior to this one:

Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers, #1) by Tara Sivec Futures and Frosting (Chocolate Lovers, #2) by Tara Sivec Troubles and Treats (Chocolate Lovers, #3) by Tara Sivec Hearts and Llamas (Chocolate Lovers, #3.5) by Tara Sivec

I like it, but it could be much better!

I think that you can read it as a single book, but... this's next part of Chocolate Lovers series. We have here favourite and sweet son of Claire and Carter. Yes it's Gavin story! He is in love with Charlotte ( Liz and Jim older daughter). But they are friends from an early age and are practically family. That is why they are afraid to admit themselves to their feelings. Gavin's best friend - Tyler - come up with a list that must be followed in order to win her heart. How does it work out? You may have guessed, big flop.

Once again, this is a very funny book. Here, nothing has changed. It has some excellent scenes, like that of Viagra. I gave, however a little less stars because:

Here are some inconsistencies. In the book writes that the age difference is 3 years, but after the previous book, Gavin had at least four years old, and Charlotte was not yet even in the plans. He even had 5 years birthday, but about pregnancy there was not even a word.

Second, Gavin has a sister, and in this part there was no more than one sentence about her. Also for other adult children. That's weird. I know that there were a lot of them, but skip them completely it makes story is inconsistent. There is also some repetition. And odd combination of dual pov. The first half of Gavin. The other of Charlotte. It's a little bit chaos. I preferred part of Gavin perspective.

Good thing. We also have here a new character - Tyler, he is hilarious and could be son of Drew and Jenny. He's really good. His jokes are the best. Just look:

"Tyler shouts the names of My Little Ponies when he comes. And he makes horse noises with his lips when he’s going down on me."

It's fun to read about kids favorite characters of previous books. I'm all for it, but I'm counting on more good and consistent story. But it's still a great book.

*****5 AMAZING GUT HOLDING STARS*****

Wow....Ms. Sivec - you did it again!! I didn't stop laughing from the time I opened the book till I was done.  Every page turn had a new and funny situation that just had me rolling on the floor.

This is the story of Gavin and Charlotte - Gavin is Claire and Carter's son and he is madly in love with his best friend.  Charlotte's parents are Liz and Jim and she feels the same way about Gavin.

Do you think they just come out and tell each other how they have always felt?? HELL NO...this is a Tara Sivec book!!

We have the whole crew return along with my favorites...Drew and Jenny....Drew the obscene tee-shirt wearing, sexaholic arrogant bastard along with the airhead Jenny whose use of the incorrect words - have me spitting out water through my nose!!

We meet Tyler in this book who is friends with Gavin and his antics are up there with Drew's - while Charlotte's sister Ava seems to have grown attached sexually to Tyler (I'm thinking they may be the next book)

I just can't say enough about this book - it is so great to have the old crowd back along with their offspring!!

If you are looking for a book to relieve all your stress and get you laughing....this is definitely the book for you!

3.5 silly, fun stars

Soooo...I liked this one. Didn't blow me away though. It was funny but there were times when it just became too silly for my taste. Don't get me wrong, I don't find crude language offensive at all, providing that there should also be substance. Nothing heavy since I know this series doesn't take itself seriously. But I would have loved a little more something, you know, a plot, a story or whatever but sadly, there wasn't.

I did enjoy Gavin and Charlotte and their crazy family though. They are still crazy and still hilarious. And Tyler, Gavin's bestfriend is the bomb. LOL! I liked Gavin but he was such a p*ssy in this book that my love for him just went down a notch. Sorry, dude. Charlotte is okay but never connected with her or understood why Gavin was obsessed with her. But other than that, this was okay.

How to Make Charlotte Bang Me Love Me. And Turn into a Giant Pussy.

I decided to pick this up right away because I was in a book funk, a book funk that felt like it was forever, but in reality it was just a couple of days, still a funk is a funk. In my entire reading experience, there are two fool proof ways to get me out of a funk, one is KA and her merry Alpha Men and the other is to laugh my ass off until I need to change my panties… There really is no other author who has made me laugh my ass off consistently throughout a book than Ms. Sivec, so Love & Lists was the book-funk-getter-outter for me.
“Love and lists. Just remember, love and lists. Nothing else matters.”

Love & Lists was a short read about Gavin, Claire & Carter’s foul mouth son who is in love with Liz and Jim’s daughter, Charlotte. They have been pussyfooting around each other for years, never having the balls to do something about it, so they each come up with their lists, on how to make the other fall in love with each other, add in their crazy parents, Aunt and Uncle’s and their best friends, it’s a recipe for disaster.
Uncle Drew shouts. “You are a disgrace. Your mother should have swallowed.”

I really missed the entire Seduction & Snacks gang, and for the record I am SO damn glad they have not changed one bit, they are all still fucking crazy! Drew and Jenny are still there and completely out there and we get two new members, Tyler, Gavin’s best friend who I swear is somehow has to be related to Drew and Rocco, Charlotte’s flaming-gay-fake-boyfriend. What I love most is there really is nothing sexy about her books, everything is just so awkward and real, it’s hilarious. Looks like there is gonna be more, so I can’t wait!

FIVE CHOCOLATE LOVIN' AMAZINGLY HILARIOUSLY BEAUTIFUL STARS!!

Oh my gosh! Tara Sivec is a literary genius and one of the most hysterical authors I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Gavin and Charlotte's story is just as incredible and hot as Carter and Claire's. I loved every little bit of it! Full review to come after the blog tour.
*****
Please excuse me while I take a break to wipe my eyes because I'm laughing so hard that I can't stop crying. Seriously, y'all, Tara Sivec is a comedic genius and I can't get enough of her characters! In Love and Lists we get to know older, sexier, completely grown up and still as hysterical Gavin Ellis.

Even better, he's in love, but he can't bring himself to admit it to the woman he loves, who just so happens to be one of his best friends, Charlotte. Being the child of Carter and Claire, it's only natural for laugh out loud events to unfold and he tries to woo the girl of his dreams.

"Yes, and you used to stand up in the middle of the tub and say, 'Hey, Charlotte, look at my big wiener!' I hope that's not what your next plan of attack is," ~Claire

"She's probably completely disgusted with me right now. I pulled her hair, puked in her lawn, and now I'm dating a pretend woman with big boobs." ~Gavin

See!! I could go on and on for days about this book, but I want you to read it for yourself so you can experience the magic that Tara brings to the table. And when you're done, report back to me and tell what you thought about a certain kitchen scene. A scene that had me laughing so hysterically that I almost woke my husband up from shaking the bed with my laughs. We also get the pleasure of seeing the whole gang again, Claire, Carter, Jim, Liz, Drew, and crazy ass Jenny. You also get to meet Gavin's hilarious Bronie (awesome!) best friend Tyler and Charlie's spitfire younger sister, Ava.

This was me all throughout the book...

description

description

There were also some super steamy scenes that I loved! Gavin is smokin' in the bedroom and I loved every single second of it!

So what are you waiting for?! Get to one-clicking, but don't blame me when you're abs are sore from copious amounts of laughter!!

Loved this book. Made me laugh so much.

Read it again for the second time and I still loved it and will keep it at 5 star rating. Gavin and Charlotte are both funny. Gavin hasn't changed much from a kid to an adult...he's still preoccupied with his penis.

I absolutely loved it. I couldn't stop laughing. A lot of laugh-out-loud moments.
I'm an adult and I have to worry about inviting my mother to public events for fear she'll tell everyone the story about how I got my first boner to Barney the Dinosaur. Do you have any idea how mortifying that is? A fucking purple dinosaur.

Our boy Gavin, who we met in the first book and who loved talking about his wiener, have grown up. He still talks about his wiener a lot though :-). He, with a help from his best friend, Tyler, makes a list about how to make Her notice him and fall in love with him. It was so much fun to read about him trying to cross things off his list. Every time he tries, it goes disastrously wrong. I liked Tyler, he is such a character.
Ever sinse the day he met my mother - naked - he's been involved with her. For seven years I've had to endure him leering at her, making inappropriate comments, and imagining all the different ways my dad could die so he could console the grieving widow.

***

"Tyler, you are more and more annoying every time I see you," Dad says with a shake of his head.
"Thank you, sir! How's your cholesterol? Can I get you something fried and dipped in butter?" Tyler asks as he takes a seat across from him.

When adults (I'm using this term loosely) found out about his list, they started to give all kinds of wrong and inappropriate advises.
"Quick, what are the ten erogenous zones on a woman? GO!" he shouts.
I run though every article I've read in a magazine or online. "GAAAAH! Fuck! Um, neck, lips, feet, inner thighs - "
"BZZZZZZZZ. WRONG; FUCKER!" Drew interrupts.
"What? Those were totally right. And I wasn't done yet." I argue.
"Those are wrong. Want to know what the ten erogenous zones on a woman are? Number one: vagina. Number two: it doesn't fucking matter if you're touching her vagina right!" Uncle Drew shouts. "You are disgrace. Your mother should have swallowed."

description
Gavin is a really sweet, funny and hard working guy. He took over his mothers company. You would think that being a CEO of a major company would have made him a chick magnet. Nope.
You try being in a bar flirting with a chick and see the look on her face when you tell her you touch rubber penises all day. They think I'm gay. Or a creeper. Like I'm going to just whip a dildo out of my back pocket and chase her around the room with it.

What a koo-koo bunch. Loved it. It reminded me a lot of the movie Meet My Parents :-D.

LOOK!! It's a Chocolate Lovers spinoff - Chocoholics!!

This is Gavin's story! The foul-mouthed offspring tell their stories!

Series: Chocoholics #1
Genre: Romantic Comedy. Friends to Lovers.

This friggin book had me in a fit of giggles the whole way though! I can always count on Tara Sivec to put me in a good "book mood" too, which is why I decided to read this one. Gah, I laughed so hard that I had tears in my eyes. Overall, I LOVED this book. It's light hearted, hilarious, and adds just enough angst to keep the story interesting. If you haven't read a book by Tara Sivec and are a fan out laugh out loud (like embarrassingly loud) romantic comedies than I strongly recommend picking up her books. I would suggest that you start with the Chocolate Lovers series, read then in order, and then move onto this one as the characters from the previous series ARE involved in this one. I feel that you may miss out if you don't read them in order but you can certainly read them however you want! But really, you need to read this series (and the Chocolate Lovers series). I am telling you that if your in a bad mood or in a book slump like I have been in recently that it will all change!!! Highly recommended!

Overall Rating: 5 stars!

If you have been following my blog you know how much I love The Chocolate Lover's Series by Tara Sivec. If you've read my reviews, you know of the scary things that happen to my body while I read her books. You know how Tara's been sneaking into my home and secretly getting material, even before I stalked her and made her  got friendly with her. She also schedules her book releases to my vaginal episodes. More on that in a bit...(or read my review of Seduction and Snacks to start).

Just for a little background, you may want to check out these hysterical recaps of Wicked Book Weekend '13 (most importantly the last two).

You should also know that I messaged Tara after I read the chapter names and already started laughing. The first photo is an Always Maxipad.

Love and Lists Tara SivecLove and Lists Tara Sivec

Love and Lists" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Love and Lists is a spin-off of The Chocolate Lovers Series. But now, 4 year old Gavin is all grown up. Love and Lists can be read as a standalone, but don't. Just trust me on this....read The Chocolate Lovers Series first. If it's been a while, there is no need to brush up, Tara gently and hysterically reminds you of things throughout Love and Lists. The first half of the book is presented as if Gavin is telling us his story.
"You're probably wondering why I'm curious if someone can die from blue balls. You're probably also wondering how in the hell I can possible be twenty-five years old when just yesterday I was four."

Gavin is in charge of product development at Seduction and Snacks, which has gone global, and he is completely in love with Charlotte, Liz and Jim's daughter. The problem? They grew up together, and he's been friend-zoned. He asks his best friend Tyler for help. Tyler is 'Mini Drew' to me, I swear he is Drew's illegitimate child who has the hots for Claire. But I digress. Tyler helps Gavin come up with a list of how to make Charlotte fall in love with Gavin (or bang him).
"My main purpose in life isn't to get in Charlotte's pants. Sure, it's something I dream about. Well, wet dream about. ...but it's not the ultimate goal. I want her to love me. I want her to see me as something other than a friend. I want her to realize that we're soul mates.

Fuck, maybe I am getting my period."

Neither Gavin or Charlotte have a lot of experience, so as Gavin worked his way down the list, it was one hilarious failure after another one. I felt so sorry for him, yet fell more in love with him every moment.
"You used to stand up in the middle of the tub and say. 'Hey, Charlotte, look at my big wiener!' I hope that's not what your next plan of attack is," Mom says with a serious look on her face. Note to self: remove number five from The List."

The biggest issue is that Charlotte has a boyfriend, Rocco.
"Honey, he doesn't have a feminine side, he has a vagina."

And Gavin...well, he really hasn't quite gotten over his obsession with his penis.
"I glance at Tyler standing next to me and notice he's wearing corduroys. Those would feel really good right now if I rubbed my penis against them. All soft and rough at the same time."

The whole gang offers Gavin advice, including Drew and Jenny...because they are actually qualified hahaha. And Gavin learns even more about his parents that he wishes he could unhear, including some stories about 'phone calls'.

For me though, Tyler was a show stealer! From his Bronie status to Siri, he is everything I love in a guy ;-) Siri cracked me up...why? My kid's named me "You Lick My Nipples" on my phone over a year ago, and I never changed it. And my son's phone?

Tara Sivec Love and Lists

Halfway through the book we switch to Charlotte's point of view. As much as I love Gavin, I love Charlotte just as much! It was perfect the way Tara split it and a great way of telling the story. Charlotte was even more inexperienced than Gavin.
Oh fuck, I'm touching his penis. My hand is on his penis. I was so excited I didn't even realize how hard I was squeezing his penis. And thinking about it just makes me squeeze it even harder.
"Ouch!"
So basically, I was choking the life out of this thing and trying to detach it from his body. WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING?!

And then...

SpideyWeb100Av

Between mustard, hairy wildebeests, spiderman, and Children of the Corn (which I had a gif for but it scared me), Charlotte was as much of a mess as Gavin. They were perfect for each other.

Since Tara loves to do her "things I learned" posts, I thought I'd steal her idea.

Yes, Tara and I are now friends, but I have never let that affect my ratings of a book (as you'll see in an upcoming review for another author). But I must admit, now that I know her and I'm reading this book for the first time...Gavin is Tara. It used to be that Tara was Claire because I "met" Claire first. But Gavin is totally the male Tara. Which, if you read yesterday's post, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Love and Lists was everything I could have wished for in a spin off. It was hysterically funny, sweet, silly, real and brought back the entire crazy cast of the original series and then some. I woke my husband from laughing, I had to take screen shots and send them to my him and my son (who wants a credit in this book by the way), and I re-read the whole thing while preparing this review because I loved it that much.

This was not as good as I wanted it to be. It felt like the author was trying to re create Chocolate lovers.

Gavin and Charlotte are Claire and Carter.

Tyler is Drew.

They even introduced a cheeky little 5 year old boy to replace child Gavin.

Also, I got really annoyed, that there is apparently only 3 years between Gavin and Charlotte, yet Gavin had a 5 year birthday in the Chocolate Lovers series, before Liz (Charlotte's Mom) had even become pregnant.

So apparently, Gavin is 25, making Charlotte 22, yet in this very book it states her sister Molly is 19, and there is 5 years between Charlotte and her sister.

Gavin's sister may well have never existed for all the mention she got in this book.

And it states in this book, it is 2013 referring to "Viagragate 2013" yet, in book 3.5 of Chocolate Lovers, when Gavin is 10, Liz and Charlotte refer to a Valentine's day of a few years before stating that Valentine's day they refer to is in 2009, making Hearts and Llamas also set in 2013 ish...

That sort of thing just bugs me, it is lazy writing, and felt like the author concentrated too much on the "humour" that in the end, was too try hard, and a re hash of Seduction and Snacks - which was great read. In the end, it felt too forced, and just not as funny. It had it's moments, but also lacked the romantic feel that Seduction and Snacks had, that actually made me care about the main couple. Charlotte's pov comes to late in this book, for me to get a real feel for her as a character, or have any connection to her at all.

A 2.5 rounded up to 3 stars.

Once again Tara Sivec had me laughing hysterically with this book.

In this story we meet Gavin, Claire and Carter’s hilarious little boy all grown up. He is now twenty-five and is in love with his best friend Charlotte. Charlotte is the daughter of Claire’s best friend Liz and Jim.

Gavin’s best friend Tyler reminded me a lot of his dad’s best friend Drew. Like father like son I guess. Tyler comes up with this great idea to help Gavin get Charlotte to fall in love with him, create a list. It’s pretty funny because as much as Gavin doesn’t want some of the things Tyler writes on the list to happen, his luck seems to find a way to make them.

Some of my favorite laugh out loud moments were when Gavin’s grandfather gave him some “vitamins” and when Tyler is talking to Siri. If you are looking for a funny and sweet romantic comedy this is the book for you!

-- A Romantic Book Affairs Review

Tara Sivec does it again with Love and Lists, the first book in the Chocoholics spinoff series... She made me laugh until I almost peed my pants!

"I'm not a foul-mouthed, cute little kid anymore. I'm now a foul-mouthed, cute adult." - Gavin

Gavin Ellis is all grown up and no longer walking around talking about his peen anymore… much. He’s twenty-five, single, good-looking (he has good genes ala Carter!), and is the Creative Director for one of the largest sex toy stores in the world, Seduction and Snacks, his family’s business. Oh yeah, you heard that right. He’s helps create sexy toys. This is not exactly a job that attracts the ladies when he mentions what he does. That’s not really a big concern of his though. His biggest problem is that he’s in love with his best friend, Charlotte Gilmore, and she has no clue. She’s the oldest daughter of his parents’ best friends, Liz and Jim Gilmore. The girl he’s known since he was an infant and had nakey time with her in the bathtub – not that it has been useful for him as an adult. Gavin has been in love with her for as long as he can remember but has no idea how to tell her, being that he’s been in the ‘friend zone’ with her for so long.

My main purpose in life isn't to get in Charlotte's pants. Sure, it's something I dream about. Well, wet dream about...but it's not the ultimate goal. I want her to love me. I want her to see me as something other than a friend. I want her to realize that we're soul mates. - Gavin

So, now Gavin has reached the point where he can’t take it anymore. He has it crazy BAD for her. So bad that his peen salutes her every time she’s around. And you know he has reached his all-time low when he enlists his crazy best friend Tyler for help. Tyler is a little bit odd… okay he’s VERY odd and nuts. He had me cracking up laughing many, many times. Tyler has a bright idea and decides Gavin needs to make a list, which Tyler has inappropriately named: How to Make Charlotte Bang Me. And Turn into a Giant Pussy (LOL). This list is supposed to make Charlotte swoon and fall madly in love with Gavin. But poor Gavin fumbles and flops up the list and ends up embarrassing and making an ass of himself. Gavin was a hot mess to say the least. The ridiculous length he goes to so he can get the girl had me laughing hysterically. But all of this just made me love Gavin even more. Now that’s what I call true love.

I don't even know when it happened--when he turned from annoying little boy to hot as fuck. It's almost like he went to sleep one night as a little kid and woke up a man--a man with a great body and gorgeous face with a dimple in his cheek that is to die for.” - Charlotte

The interesting part about this whole story is the point of view change up that happens midway through the story. I loved that little twist. It added a different layer to the story. I liked that we get to see what’s going on inside Charlotte’s head and thought her POV was just as funny. She had her own side kick helping her out as well, which had me cracking up because it was quite obvious he was not who he was pretending to be. These two quirky and wacky kids were completely clueless when it came to one another.

Love and Lists had me cackling like a crazy person and smiling until my cheeks hurt. This was such a highly entertaining romp. Charlotte and Gavin are fun-loving, hysterical, and charming together. I adored them. I really enjoyed seeing little flashbacks of Charlotte and Gavin when they were kids and the fact that they remained best friends their whole life felt especially endearing. We get to visit with past characters from the first three books of the Chocolate Lovers series: Drew, Jenny, Claire, Carter, Jim, Liz. None of them have changed a bit. Even though they are in their 40’s now, they are still crude and crazy. This story may be full of raunchy humor and have some moments that are just straight up wrong, but it still has its sweet and tender moments. Sometimes it’s good to read something that is light and funny. Tara Sivec has some of the most original humor. Her writing is snappy and unapologetic. I give kudos to someone who can write about peens and vaginas and sex toys so flippantly. I really think that this is a great beginning to the Chocoholics series. I can’t wait to see what Sivec has me snorting and laughing about next.

This book was a TREAT.

As soon as this book landed on my kindle I abandoned all other reads and responsibilities and jumped straight in. When it comes to this crazy gang of characters I know I am guaranteed a brilliant and fun read. Tara does not disappoint.

I adored the young Gavin we met in Seduction and Snacks, so then getting to know him as an adult was even better. He is still the funny kid we knew and loved.. even at the age of 25. And of course he has his own hilarious tale to tell. He is in love with Charlotte. Charlotte being the daughter of his mum and dad's best friends Liz and Jim. Fun times ahead.
"I'm not a foul-moutherd, cute little kid anymore. I'm now a foul-mouthed, cute adult."

Oh this book was hi-freaking-larious. I have never laughed as much in my reading as I do when I am reading a Chocolate Lovers, or now a Chocoholics book. The one liners, the situations, the characters.. I love it all and find myself with tears in my eyes from laughing SO much.

We are introduced to a new character in this book, Gavin's best friend, Tyler and I L O V E D him. It will be an absolutely travesty if this kid does not get his own book. Gavin, for some crazy reason, enlists the help of Tyler to come up with a plan, or in their case a list of things to do, to help Charlotte realise how much Gavin is in love with her. Oh the things this kid comes up with is priceless. And not only that, but he has a massive crush on Gavin's mum, Claire. Some of their banter had me in hysterics...
"I'm actually not feeling so hot myself Claire, I could use a sponge bath."
"How about I take your temperature with a rectal thermometer the size of my fist?"
"I'm strangely aroused right now."

One of the many things I loved the most about this new book is that it felt like catching up with old friends. All of the characters we loved from the Chocolate Lovers series are back in full swing, and are their same CRAZY selves. And once again two of my favourites had to be Jenny and Drew.. I am oh so very pleased to say, even now years later, with two kids, they are as crazy as ever. It was a massive comfort.
"Uncle Drew is completely inappropriate one hundreds percent of the time, and Aunt Jenny is a few fries short of a Happy Meal."

Sometimes I need a break from the heavy and the serious. I don't want to forever be reading these emotional books that have me reeling, and for those breaks in between this book, and the other 3 in the first series, are absolutely perfect. Tara Sivec's writing and humour is absolutely genius. I enjoy every word of it.

If you're a Seduction and Snacks lover then you're familiar with this crazy group.

I'm not a foul-mouthed cute little kid anymore. I'm a foul-mouth cute adult

Gavin is all grown up now and in love with his parents best friend's daughter, Charlotte. Of course coming from a crazy family he doesn't go by the conventional way and ask her out. Nope! He makes a list to make her fall in love with her.

Some parts of the book was LOL funny. Especially when we are reacquainted with the old gang. A couple new characters were introduced aka Tyler who is Gavin's best friend and reminds me of a mini Drew.

Claire, I need to talk to you about getting on your cell phone plan.

If you've got a few hours to spare and you've read the Seduction and Snacks, I would definitely read this. It was funny and all kinds of loony. X

This book was just Ok for me.

This author can write funny like no ones business, but I wasn't feeling any connection between Gavin and Charlotte. I didn't even get a "best friend" vibe from either of them. No clue why they loved each other because we get limited interactions between them, and the ones we do get have a forced feel to them. These are suppose to be two adults, but they acted like OTT teenagers for the whole book. I am also not a fan of the whole "fake boyfriend/girlfriend to make the other person jealous, it always comes across as cruel to me. Don't even get me started on the grandfather giving Gavin Viagra without telling him, yes it made for a funny scene, but HELLO DANGEROUS. Maybe I am being picky...

Even when they finally get together it is boring. I just didn't feel any spark between these two at all. I also didn't like that he lost his virginity to someone because he thought she did. That bugged me a bit unfortunately. Really the only shining star of this book was Tyler, he was hilarious!

So ya, just an OK read for me. I doubt I'll continue on with the rest of the series.

"Can someone die from a severe case of blue balls?"

description

Ha and that's our beloved Gavin, son of Claire and Carter, from the Chocolate Lover's series. He's Google-ing that phrase because, well, he's suffering from it.

Gavin is in love with his childhood friend, Charlotte. She is Liz and Jim's daughter. Gavin is in a predicament because he wants to act on his, uh, situation, but doesn't know how because he knows Charlotte only sees him as a friend.

description

And in comes Hot Lover Boy Big Penis Man Titty Tickler, aka Tyler. I loved Tyler as Gavin's wingman. Tyler swoops in and takes control of Gavin's unfortunate situation by producing a List of things that will make Charlotte fall in love with Gavin - First on the list? Show her your penis.

Commence: "Operation Make Charlotte Love Me"

❤️ "She'll have the most expensive thing on the menu." - "And she'll have a bottle of wine. I'll have a bottle too. As a matter of fact, buy those people a bottle of wine as well," I tell the waitress, pointing at two women sitting at the table next to us." ❤️

❤️ "And now I’m picturing my penis rising up like a phoenix and repeatedly smacking the table like he’s knocking on a door. Maybe that would impress her. “Hey Charlotte, look what my penis can do!” ❤️

❤️ "Sometimes I get a little nervous too. Here," he says, reaching into the pocket of his jeans and pulling out a bottle of pills.
"Take one of these vitamins.
They're good for brain stimulation and all that shit. Maybe they'll help you strap on a set and use that brain of yours to figure out a way to come clean with Charlotte."
❤️

❤️ "Fuck off, old man. I don't have a small penis. And I know how to please a woman," I fire back. "Really? Quick, what are the ten erogenous zones on a woman? GO!" he shouts. "I love when Drew touches my erroneous zones," Aunt Jenny says with a sigh. Ignoring her, I run through every article I've ever read in a magazine or online. "GAAAAH! Fuck! Um, neck, lips, feet, inner thighs -" "BZZZZZZZZZZ! WRONG, FUCKER!" Drew interrupts." ❤️

My favorite of all the hilarious scenes (and trust me, there's a lot to choose from) is the Spider-Man scene. SO FREAKING HILARIOUS!

Being an awkward person myself, I completely loved how awkward Gavin and Charlotte were with each other.

5/5 HILARIOUS STARS

This is a whole new series based on Claire's and Carter's spawn child, Gavin. Gavin is now 25 years old and has been in love with family friend daughter, Charlotte, for a while now. Gavin and his crazy best friend, Tyler, make a list to try and have Charlotte fall in love with Gavin.

I honestly don't think I've laughed this much while reading a book. I laughed more in this book than her other series. It's just that hilarious!!
There's too many good things that happen in this book, that I can't think of one right this moment caused it's all jumbled in my head.

I love seeing that the old character have not changed, even if 20 years has passed by. I would love to be part of their group!! The new characters are just as amazing.
I really hope she Tara continues this series with other couples. I want to see more of either molly or Gavin's sister. I was sad that she didn't even have any dialogue in here :(

I DO LOVE THIS BOOK, I REGRET NOTHING!!!!!!!
