Technology Intelligence

Rate this book
Technology intelligence is the collection and delivery of information about new technologies to support the decision-making process within an organisation. An effective system will warn your company about technology threats, as well as identify opportunities, in time for you to act on the information. This workbook is the output from research undertaken at the University of Cambridge Centre for Technology Management. It is aimed at companies in which technology plays a significant role. If your company does not have a formal technology intelligence system, this guide can help structure your thinking about how to create one. By introducing a structured approach, the company can make sure relevant information reaches the people who need it. This workbook can be used by anyone in the company who makes decisions about the use, development, or selection of technology, or who is involved in gathering technological information. A more complete portrait of your technology intelligence activities will be created if a broad cross-section of decision makers and technologists answer the questions provided. The book provides conceptual tools for assessing and improving your technology intelligence activities. Each chapter ends with questions that help you assess your technology intelligence system. By working through the questions provided, you will develop an understanding of your companys intelligence needs and activities and identify areas for improvement. The activities in Chapter Four and the company examples throughout the workbook will help generate ideas for how you can gather intelligence.
