How do you deal with a life you don’t want and a future you’re terrified of?

Run.

That’s what I’ve planned to do for years; run from this narrow world I was born into. Run from the friends I love, but who bind me to the roots I want to leave behind.

Run, towards the anonymity I so desperately crave, to a place where no one knows who I am; where no one cares who my family are.

But something happened that changed all of my plans. My best friend, my sister, fell off her pedestal and hit the ground with a crash.

Now I realise I’m not as ready as I thought I was to run from this life and these people.

Maybe I need the roots that I thought were holding me back, that were actually just stopping me from floating away.

I’m a Scion, one of the elite. I was born into this life, but I crave more.

Everything that’s happened in the last year has shown me that I need my roots, but I want to spread my wings too.

College, boys, adulthood, it’s all calling my name and it’s time to figure out who I am.

My name is Emmy Devereaux and I’m so much more than just the daughter of the president of The Doomsday Sinners MC.

Wings and roots is the third book in the scions series. They are all available on kindle unlimited. This is Emmy’s story and the boy who has always been there for her.

Sometimes the people closest to you are the people you don’t always see. Emmy and Griff are best friends. They are the teens of the Doomsday MC. Their lives have never been ordinary even though Emmy wants to know what a mundane life would be like.

Emmy grew up with the club as her family. Now she wants to spread her wings. When it’s time to bite the bullet and choose a college. Emmy realises her priorities have changed. She wants to stay close to her friends. The Doomsday teens decide to stay together and choose a college that accommodates them all.

Emmy has always had her head in a book but when she moves away from her family. She can be just her rather than the daughter of the club. Boys are on her radar but the one who could hold the key to her future is closer than she realises.

This is a sweet romance. Griff is all man but when it comes to Emmy he struggles to get it right. I like this author and this book is a good new addition to the world she’s created.

4 stars out of 5. *I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My favorite book to date by this author

I am loving this spin-off series from Archers Creek, I love MC romance but following the next generation has also been brilliant.

Wings & Roots ticked all my boxes. I love a childhood to adult romance, I love a protective male character and I absolutely adore a coming of age best friends to lovers story.

The Scions as they were known in their High school, children of the Doomsday sinners are ready to fly the nest and move to college, they make a decision to all move to the same college together. These are five characters that have a close bond with each other but none of them are as close to each other as Griff and Emmy who have had a special bond since the age of 8.

I loved the slow-burn in this story although the romantic in me got frustrated and I wanted Griff and Emmy to get together sooner but these were two best friends who were afraid to act on their feelings, Emmy brushed her feelings aside and was excited at the prospect of a new life away from home where no one knew who she was or who her family was, while Griff was reaching the point of boiling especially when Emmy was starting to get interest from the Male students from college, back in their hometown no one dared to approach the daughter of the MC president but college away from home was a whole new ball game and Griff had to make a decision to either confess his love or lose her to someone else.

I didn't want it to end, I was totally engrossed in this story which was brilliantly balanced by the author with just the right amount of angst and interest in the plot to keep me turning the pages.

I cannot wait for more from Gemma Weir, I will be eagerly awaiting her next book.

Wings and Roots is about self-discovery, accepting your roots and in the process, learning to fly. Beautiful!

Told in first person dual pov. Can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend experiencing the dynamics of the close friendships these characters have with one another and their background so I would suggest starting with book one in this series

The third book in the series, this is Emily’s story, the friend that is always there for her family, the one that decided to let go of her dreams just to be close to the ones she loves. Childhood friends that want to become more than that, have to go through a bit of growing up situations before they can realise that they’re meant to be together and find their happy for now at least.
Same great writing and characters from a favourite author.

I dare say Gemma really hates it when she sees my review pop up! I can just imagine her, sitting in her office "oh, god... Its Leanne. What is she going to say this time? Where's the gin..."
Fear not Gemma, this is the season of joy!

So, Griffin.
Griffin, Griffin, Griffin!
He's my man. He's a dreamboat isn't he!? Just, sigh! And he's only 19, yet so bloody perfect! I can't even imagine him as a fully grown man, he'd be too perfect.. And then imagine any boy children he'd raise... Jesus!
I mean, all those kisses. From the little snuggles and forehead ones to THAT one that changed it all to the last ones in the book... SWOON!

I must admit, I didn't quite like Emmy in her own story as much as I thought I would from having met her in the previous books but she's a grower. I found her a bit too wishy washy in all honesty and her character didn't really jump out at me.

As for the story itself, it's all very clichéd and really easy to know what's coming next but do you know what... I love that for these two! The whole of Archers Creek knew how their story would pan out from the moment they met aged 8, so it's only fitting that we saw that too.

And I tell you who else I want to get know better... Van! I'm thinking he might just be the right kind of loveable rogue to give the Sinners and Scions a run for their money!

Everything about this book is perfect, from the way it is effortlessly written, to the flow of the story and the characters within !

I adored Emmy, she is so relatable and questions everything, including her place in the world ! Her friends keep her grounded on her journey of self discovery, but allow her to fly a little on her own !

Griffin, is Alpha male with the softer edge needed to tread carefully with Emmy, she’s been there for him and he got her and watching the push and pull, Will they won’t they I was frustrated at moments and I was happy at others !

This book isn’t about the angst ! It’s about the love and self discovery !

I want to know more about characters we are introduced too and love the continuous story telling of the predominant, reoccurring characters ! I’m hopefully Deke will be next as he brought tears to my eyes in this boom with his love for Emmy x

The third book in the Scion's series and Gemma Weir has outdone herself. I cannot get over how much this authors writing has progressed and developed since she started her writing journey and it really shows in this wonderful instalment to this series.

Wings and Roots was perfect. Emmy is on a journey of self discovery. she thinks she knows what she wants from life, and had everything planned in her head. But then the doubts start to creep in. Emmy, Griff and the other Scion's are all off on their next stage in life. Off to college together.

Emmy is determined to spread her wings and learn more about herself... But sometimes you don't always see what is right on your doorstep.

Griffin is wonderful. He's patient, caring and determined to get Emmy to really see what it right in front of her. I loved the characters and loved how their close bond was explored and developed throughout the story.

The book was a complete emotional rollercoaster which had me hooked from the first to last page!

Loved it!

OMG! Another great book, Emmy and Griffs story is absolutely amazing. The Scions all coming together to go off to college is priceless. Always having each other’s backs is simple what they know and how they handle life. But only Em and Griff are on the outside looking in, so lost on their feelings and missing all the signs that they are totally in love with each other. While one wants to run from her small town life to the other not feeling good enough. The way they have held their feelings in for so long, not knowing if the other is simple imagining the want from the other. To finally being pushed to the brink and having the love reciprocated and the know that as long as they have each other and the Scions nothing else matters. Can’t wait for the next book even if it will be awhile. Gemma you are amazing and thank you for bringing the series into my life. Love every last one of them.

Wings & Roots by Gemma Weir is book 3 in The Scions Series. This is the story of Griffin and Emmy. I have read the previous books which added to my enjoyment of this one but you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so. Griffin and Emmy have grown up together as friends with their family in the Doomsday MC. Griffin is a little older but he knows that he loves Emmy. Emmy is on the verge of a turning point about going to college and what or where to go with her life. Thinking most of the time to leave what she knows behind even though everything is good there but to try a new start But her feelings for Griffin are mixed and unsure what he seems to fell.
This was a sweet young love read with some drama. I am a fan of Ms. Weir's writing so I really wanted to read this book and wasn't disappointed at all.

I had mixed feeling about Emmy throughout this story. By the end I loved her again.

I loved and identified with her during the first two scions. She was almost me to a point. Burying my head in books rather than interacting withe my friends.
I understand that shes a teenager and trying to find her identity. But the constant whining at the start, about leaving her friends and family because shes feeling boxed in, began to irriate.

Griffin, completely in love in with Emmy for years. Yet paraded any and all easy conquests in her face. Then couldnt understand why she didnt know he loved her.

I am glad the way the book ended. I loved how Zeke and Valentine stepped in to wake the couple up. I liked Van, thought he could have woke them up sooner.

I hope Zeke gets his own book soon

Omg. This has to be the best book ever written in this series. I totally love Emmy and Griff.

Two best friends and lines that should never be crossed. However, you can feel the tension between them throughout the story. I love how Griff becomes all caveman when other men come near. His macho stance made me laugh at times. Emmy though is also a force to be reckoned with when pushed. I love her fisty side when it comes out. It shows a side of her that wasn't seen in Nova and Valentines story.

I loved how the group friends stay together in solidarity. Even when one wants to run. They will never let one of them fall.

I can't wait for Zekes story and I will be badgering Gemma until it is given to me.

This next book in the series was another good read - I enjoyed 'catching' up with the previous characters - but this coming change in the relationship status of Griffin and Emmy is explosive, boy do they need to talk - she is so naive, she just doesn't get the subtle hints thrown her way by Griffin, but then Griffin is too chicken to come right out and state his feelings, which are obvious to everyone, but Emmy.

It's fun to see them road trip to visit various schools, and finally pick one to attend together; they do - but Emmy is quite the attraction to a couple of guys, and boy does this send Griffin over the edge. Finally after some drunken mishaps, and a journey home, they have THE conversation, and things are never the same again.................... :)

In the continuing saga of The Scions of the Doomsday sinners Mc, ms. weir has done it again. Gives a great look into the thoughts and feelings of young people and helps to understand them while telling a great story.

She thinks she doesn’t want the life that her future is suppose to be, she runs and then figures out that while she is spreading her wings she has solid roots to always help ground her and help her thru life.
He has loved her since they were children, and doesn’t want to lose her, but he’s to conflicted to tell her his feelings because he’s afraid she’ll leave and not come back.
Together they figure out their future, and admit that they love each other. He lets her spread her wings but is still there as her solid roots to always be there for her and to protect and love her.

This is the 3rd book to appear in the Scions series and focuses on the relationship of Emmy and her best friend Griffin.

With being part of the MC Doomsday sinners their lifes have been made for them but Emmy has struggled and wanted to grow her wings and escape at times, just one thing her friends and especially Griffin are her roots and keep her grounded. Can they manage to keep the Scions as one?

With a real pull in this book of loving and hating Emmy she sweeps you straight back into adoring her, an amazing follow on and connection in the series with the other characters. Must read xx

I absolutely love The Scions series! The books are so relatable and make the reader feel like they are right there with the characters. I love this book because I related with Emmy so much. She wants something so different than what she’s know her whole life. But will it be everything that she’s expected? Such a great story that I loved!

Being the daughter of the President of the Doomsday Sinners is the only life that Emmy has ever know but what she really wants is independence and to be known for who she is and not who her parents are. College is going to be the beginning of a new Emmy, but she will still have her best friend Griff to lean on.

Griff has accepted that friends is all he and Emmy can ever be even though he has loved her for years. When she starts dating it becomes a game changer and neither of their lives will ever be the same.
It was great to watch the relationship between Griff and Emmy unfold and to catch up with the characters we know and love from this series.

Oh. My. Days!

Oh. My. Days! Five huge stars for this book!! I freaking love The Sinners MC and this second generation series has blown my mind, and my heart! Nova and Valentine's story literally broke my heart but she is way stronger than she realises.
With the fall out from that, it brought The Scions so much closer together. Now they are heading to college but Emmy is still uncertain, unsure of herself and what she truly wants.
I don't want to say any more because I don't want to give spoilers, just trust me! You need to read this book!! I can tell you this though, my heart went through the wringer! Tears were shed!

Emmy and Griffin have captured my heart. Their friendship, love and loyalty is felt through every chapter, the emotion seeps through this authors writing so beautifully, so vividly that im in awe.

Wonderful character's that have captured my heart and will forever stay with me. Hope to read more of the Scions in the future.

Wings & Roots is the next book in the Scions series.

This book is about Emmy and how she is looking for a future away from the Sinners MC.

Things do not go to plan after what happened to Nova and the Scions are reluctant to let her move away.

I really enjoyed this book however at times I would put it down and rant in my head about Emmy and what was happening around her. It was very frustrating!!

You get to know all of the characters more in this book and can I say ZEKE was awesome. Valentine is part of the fold and with Nova and Griffin make up the full pack.

The latest instalment in The Scions series.
This time we follow Emmy and her path as she tries to fight against what she’s always known and wants her own identity.
But the Archers kids have other ideas and Griffin makes it perfectly clear.
Complete story that’s an easy, quick read. Little drama or some usual pinnacle moment.
Teen characters are never going to be my favourite but you do forget they are so young. Although Emmy is so wrapped up in her own world at times that shows her age and lack of acknowledgement of her wider world.

Another fantastic story by this amazing story.

In this story we get to know more about Griff and Emmy, the love these two have is amazing. You have to love a friends to lovers story.

The whole story is written beautifully and flows so well, it pulls you in and captivates you within the pages of this book. I loved how it shows Emmys story for self discovery and how she wants to find her place in the world and Griffs alpha male.

Definitely hands down a 5 ⭐️ read and one I will recommend to anyone. I can’t wait for more in the spin of series and learn more about these characters.

Usually books focusing on teens isn’t my thing even though this one has a mc touch this one proves me why I should always give a series a chance. Gemma proves me wrong again. This third book in the series lived up to the first 2 books and reminded me why I love these characters and this author. I found myself cheering for the possible love story. I felt myself on an emotional rollercoaster but was completely satisfied by the end. A extremely well written book in an amazing series.

This is the third book in the Scions Series and is Emmy's story.
I love Emmy! She has to be one of my fave heroines for sure. She's sassy and strong but also unsure and questions herself which I could completely relate too.
Emmy and Griffin's story was pure perfection and one I couldn't get enough of. Gemma Weir hands down outdoes herself with every book she writes and this has to be my favourite so far! It's safe to say I'm super excited to see what's next!!
