Too quick, like so many holiday stories, but I smiled a lot while reading it, so it's a win. It's more like the beginning of a meet-cute romance than a real relationship story, but what's here is well done.
Short story is tricky – I think. Sometimes author can maximize the length and make an impact, sometimes they don’t. Unfortunately, I think this one doesn’t really offer something more in the span of 20 or so pages. You read the blurb of this one, and that’s the story. Luce has a bad break-up, his ex then drove a car through his garage and makes a big hole, and Luce needs it fix before the family coming over.

This is a short, sweet little sexy story, that deals with stupid exes and hot next door neighbors. When Luce gets a hole in his home, from his stupid drunk ex, he was at a loss on what to do because no one could help him and he was hosting Christmas. With a book this short, it's difficult to really get into the romance of it all, but this one had so much instant attraction, I fell for it.
Both MC's were sweet and outgoing, communicating their pasts and desires quickly, then skipping to the relationship.
Would I have loved a longer story? Yes. Absolutely. I enjoyed all of the characters enough that to see a full length book would have been nice.
Would I recommend it? Yeah, I really would. It was quick, straight to the point, and the ending was ...more

Ok, so after meeting Sam Burns at GRL in 2018, she appeared a shy, but 'I know what I like and you're not going to persuade me into doing what you want' type of person. She is so all that, and she is very passionate in her writing.

3.5 Stars ~ I specifically chose this story to read because as soon as I read the description, I knew this would bring back memories. You see, many years ago my family and I were hanging out in our kitchen working on finishing up the Thanksgiving dishes when we heard a thud. So I get that this is a Christmas shorty but goodness that went by so fast that I felt like I had whiplash. Started out promising enough. Luce's alcoholic ex drove a car into Luce's garage and house leaving a gaping hole a week before Christmas. Desperate to find someone to fix it and that someone is his next door neighbor's son. It was very enjoyable read but too short to be perfect. Still it left me with a smile and that's all I can ask for a holiday story.
