*I received an early copy from the author. This does not affect my review. This review is voluntary.*

I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this, but as soon as I started, I knew I was in for a treat, and as predicted, I loved it! This doesn't read as a debut, and I'm so excited to see more of Cait Marie's work in the future! I really enjoyed the characters, and there was a nice balance between the two POVs (Ada's and Shane, her brother's) and I really liked how the story and plot unfolds!

Ok. I was hooked. From first page to last I couldn't put it down.

I was given a Advanced Reader copy in exchange for a honest review, but I also preordered it.

The characters felt so real. The setting was clear. The level of description was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend this for everyone.

This book was, …., I’ve just finished it a few minutes ago and I’m speechless. The Lost Legends ruined me, broke me, made me laugh, cry well it did so much with me. It was a real rollercoaster of emotions. I swear! I was hooked from the very first chapter. That writing style. Everything was just so fluent, easy to understand, simple and the worldbuilding was beautiful. I l

Gah, THIS BOOK! How do I talk about this book.

I wasn't sure what I expected going it but it supposed every hope I had for this story. It's a book that is ACTUALLY as good as it sounds. Rare, huh?

Ada and Shane are the children of the king. Their mother died many years ago but not before instilling a belief in Ada about the mythical immortal warriors, the Nihryst. When she stumbles upon nefarious plans in her own palace, she knows she has to get help to keep the kingdoms from descending into war

“This is going to end horribly. Oh, absolutely.”

I was really happy to have received an eArc of The Lost Legends by author Cait Marie. Cait is a member of my online book club TBR & Beyond and I was glad I could support her by reading and reviewing her book.

The Lost Legends is a reimagining of Robin Hood meets Pirates of the Caribbean and an unexpected dash of Tangled. Now that is a recipe for success. Many years ago Loxley and his merry gang known as the Nihryst have been banished to a faraway is

Absolutely brilliant

I loved every second of reading this. There was a constant mixer of action, adventure, and romance. Loveable characters with individual personalities. Health friendships and betrayals of women. Kick butt heroine who's able to cry and kill. I can't wait for the next one. This is definitly up there on my favorite series list.

It was very intriguing, to say the least. I loved all the characters, especially the trio of Shane, Philip, and Adalina. There are several plots in motion, some get resolved in this installment, rest I am looking forward to in the next books! There was not a single dull moment, and oft, I felt I was living with the characters themselves. At one stage, it gave me strong Throne of Glass vibes. I really hope I get to know more about the legendary group of Nihryst in the next books. ...more

WHOA! Just, whoa...

So, for a debut book, this thing is phenomenal (and I’m not just saying that because the author is my emotional support Hufflepuff and I’m slightly biased). I’m in the comedown period from The Cruel Prince and the Grishaverse books, and this is comparable in quality.

I read it so fast. Like, could not put it down. It took me like 8 hours, and that was with taking care of kids and periodically working on a research paper.

It is well written, the character development is superb,

Fairy tales are steeped in folklore. We all know there are elements of truth behind such tales, no matter how small that truth is. We sit and imagine we are the princess’ need saving. Or, at least, their best friend that can reap a few benefits.  We dream on going on a grand adventure like one of our favorite fairy tale character’s.

Princess Adalina got such a chance. She didn’t need saving, oh no. She took it upon herself to d

This book! Wow! This was the fastest read I’ve done in a long, long time. I just couldn’t put it down! I practically devoured it.

The Lost Legends is a YA Tangled X Robin Hood retelling, written in the third person through multiple POVs. The narrative gives little description, leaving a lot up to the imagination of the reader. More of a focus is put on character development and plot.

The characters were very

I'm just going to start with that when I finished this book I was 18 levels of miffed because I didn't have the sequel to pick up right after I finished the last page. This story sucks you right in and you never want to leave. The characterization is done so phenomenally that you feel like you know these people and you feel their hurts and their happiness. The writing is so well done and the story never dulls. You are flipping e

This was a phenomenal read that was enough to keep me going until I had finished it in one day. The author does a great job of explaining and helping you visualize their world. You can close your eyes and really see what each character is going through as well as what they are seeing in the world.
I enjoyed the plot and am eager to see where the next book will take us.

The Lost Legends is one of those books that has everything in it. A princess, an evil king, pirates, a mysterious plague, and an unforgettable love story. This book never left me bored and kept me turning pages, eager to find out what would happen next.

What worked:

This book was simply awesome! Ada is such a strong protagonist who faces down her fears and doubts of others with a refreshing fierceness and vulnerability. Her brother Shane is the crowned prince who is fighting to not only learn about his people, but risks his life over and over to best serve them. Phillip is their best friend and I can't say enough how much I especially love the relationship between Ada and Phillip! There is SO much love betw

Once in a while I wonder what it would be like to be a pirate, encountering wild adventures at sea. You too sometimes? And you like some Robin Hood vibes now and then? Well then I’d like to introduce you to The Lost Legends, book one of The Nihryst.

Meet Ada, a princess who knows how to stand her ground and is just as happy to choose a sword as part of her outfit as a ball gown. You also get to know Shane, her brother and crown prince, and their best friend Philip who has been in the Royal Guard

I absolutely loved it!! I got hooked from the very first page.

The author’s writing style is perfect: simple descriptions that don’t overwhelm you with details but that still give you a clear picture of who the characters are and what’s going on.

The characters’ development and their personalities are phenomenal, it’s impossible not to love them (except for the king and his men). Although I would have liked to meet more of the crew, hopefully we wi

Favorite book of 2020 so far!

I absolutely adored this book! Cait Marie wrote such a wonderful and addicting story that kept me turning page after page. I couldn't get enough of it!

The world and details were very easy to imagine, the characters were entertaining and fun to read, especially Ada and Lee. I really enjoyed the banter between the two. Every scene with them was my favorite.

O.M.G. I freaking adored this book!!!! I seriously read it in one sitting, staying up until 4am to finish it. I could not put it down.

The characters are wonderfully written, and the storyline was well told. Super fun read, and it kept me wanting to know what happened next. My only complaint is that I have to wait sooo long for the next one. :(

Read this. You will enjoy it!

I read the blurb for this one and it sounded very interesting and the author kindly offered me a copy to review.

The story was engaging and mysterious and kept me needing to read more! I loved the concept of it and the twist in the middle I just didn’t see coming! This book is a YA fantasy novel, so the sexy bits are very PG as expected in the YA genre but this did not detract from the story one bit for me as an older (32) reader 👩‍🏫. The uniqueness and pace of the book pulled me through and I c

A New Fantasy Classic Has Arrived!

This story is a richly woven tapestry that draws the reader in and doesn’t let go until the last sentence.

I’ve read many fantasy stories and few have captured me the way this one did. I’m missing the characters already and eagerly awaiting Book 2!

I highly recommend this book to all fantasy and adventure fans. Put it at the top of your reading list!
