For Danyelle Fitzgerald, it all began with a car crash. She ran into Ian Fogg and her life is changed in unexpected ways. Personalities clash, but there is an underlying attraction that draws readers into a wonderful mystery suspense thriller wrapped in romance. I always enjoy this author's books and know other readers will as well.

Blinded By The Light is full of mystery and suspense that will keep the pages turning and keep you up long into the night reading. Once I started reading Blinded By The Light I couldn’t stop as I had to know what would happen next.

Danyelle Fitzgerald’s mind is somewhere else and she is not paying attention to her driving when she runs into the back of Ian Fogg’s car. Ian doesn’t want to call the police or contact insurance companies either. Ian is full of secrets.

Danyelle’s heart doesn’t pay any attention to how secretive Ian happens to be. She doesn’t stop to think too deeply about why he is so secretive before starting a relationship with him. Love doesn’t stop for anyone. Danyelle wants to know all about Ian as does anybody falling in love. But she also thinks Ian deserves his privacy.

But the question is what is Ian hiding? Has he done something so horrible that he has to hide it? What a scary thought for Danyelle. Maybe he is hiding out from some bad people. So many unanswered questions. These questions had me racing to the end to find the answers. The answers will probably shock you as they did me.

I highly recommend picking up a copy of Blinded By The Light today!

"Blinded by the Light" by R.M. Demeester is a book that has elements of mystery, suspense and romance. The book is unfolded through the protagonist, Danyelle Fitzgerald whose path crashes into Ian Fogg, who is mysterious and charming. The book started slow for me but I was interested to know about the lead characters. However, I found it hard to like Danyelle whose narrative was slightly repetitive. The overbearing nature of Danyelle's mother and the bashfulness of Kayla, Danyelle's close friend was expressed well. The character of Ian Fogg was mysterious and captivating and the tense moments of his secret being revealed were good. The ending was satisfactory and captured the tone of loving someone at a cost.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5 Stars)
Format: Audiobook
Narrator: Sharon Robbins
Review Summary: A sweet, clean, and slow-burn romance that, while not my personal cup of tea, will delight listeners looking for a low-spice, gentle listen.
Review
Blinded by the Light by R. M. Demeester is the first book I have experienced from this author. To be completely transparent, it was quite a challenge for me to connect with the story initially. It is hard to say whether the disconnect stemmed from the narrator, Sharon Robbins, or the pacing of the storyline itself, but the book starts off at a very slow pace.
I struggled to connect with the main female character, Danyelle Fitzgerald (Danny). She initially comes across as a bit whiny and overly focused on maintaining her "good girl" status, sometimes seeming a bit naive. However, my feelings shifted by the end, and I ended up somewhat liking her character arc. It becomes clear that Danny is caught between a desire to please everyone around her and a deep-seated need to make her own mistakes and learn from them.
The main male character, Ian, also takes some time to warm up to. I wasn’t sure about him at first, but as the story progressed, I found myself drawn to his character and eager to uncover his secrets. The romance itself is very sweet, clean, and a classic slow-burn. Watching Ian and Danny find their way to each other is genuinely heartwarming.
There are a few elements that left me with questions, particularly concerning the supporting characters. The plot leaves some gaps about what certain people did or said—especially Danny’s so-called best friend, Kayla. Additionally, Danny’s mother was a bit much, and I found myself rolling my eyes every time she appeared on the "page," though I was grateful her screen time was limited.
The mystery and suspense elements are very light; the primary suspense comes from simply wanting to unravel Ian's secrets. Due to the repetitive nature of the narrative and the extremely slow pacing, the rating is four stars.
Final Recommendation
While this specific style is not entirely for my personal taste, I think there is a dedicated audience that will love this gentle, low-angst dynamic. I would highly recommend this audiobook to listeners who enjoy romance without the spice.

Ahhhhh this is one of those stories I loved and I wish I could just talk about all of the plot points I love. This is probably my new favorite romance story. The protagonists have so much chemistry, it had me grinning from ear to ear for a good chunk of the book. I found the characters relatable to myself and my relationship as a whole in a lot of ways. It was nice to sew Danyelle grow as a person.

While I predicted nearly every single one of the plot points and twists, it didn’t cause me to enjoy the story any less. This is the second R.M. Demeester novel I’ve reviewed that I was able to predict nearly every plot point,m in all fairness this is the exact type of story I’d write if I ever wrote any of my ideas down. This also might be a contributing factor as to why I enjoy it so much.

Some of the characters are utterly insufferable, such as Danyelle’s mother. I’ve known people who are just like, if not worse than every unlikeable character in this story, which just made them more believable.

After trying to think of any major criticisms, I really can’t think of any. (Minor spoiler) There is a moment where Danyelle and Ian make a big deal out of saying I love you. But I swear there was a moment earlier in the story where one of them said that.

Much like with the story itself, I only have good things to say about the narration. I did recall the narrator saying “aunt” as “ant” and “ont” (however you would spell out both pronunciations of that word without looking up a dictionary) which I found a bit odd.

This book was really good. The relationship better Danny and Ian developed slowly. Danny seemed to be pretty forward and upfront. But Ian felt off. It always seemed liked he was hiding something. There was gods reason too. Danny never saw it coming even though deep inside she knew something was off too. But she just kept but pushing it off. I honestly didn’t see it coming.
As for the narration, it was just okay. I struggled with it because it sounded really hollow. I almost gave up a few times. And honestly, a book like t this really needs dual narration. Sometimes one person can’t pull off both main character roles. And this was that time.

I was super excited when I decided to start this book because the blurb sounded interesting and the reviews were raving. However, when I started this book the story was slow. I decided to keep on reading anyway because I hate not finishing, but it kept dragging and my mind would wonder. The storyline was not keeping my attention.

There really wasn’t a huge climatic peak to the story, but the part I’m assuming was the big reveal was a bit of a let down. And the end....it just made me sad because it could’ve been a better story all around and there were so many grammatical errors, it really needed editing.

R.M. write an interesting story.
With an slow beginning, the intensity raise with every page, and you expect on every page to something to happen.
The characters are complex, and make you love some of them and hate others.
Danyelle and Ian are lovable - even that both of them have some weird moments - Dany with daydreaming and living in her head, and Ian with sudden mood changes, almost bipolar. But their relationship made both of them evolve for the better.
But Dany’a mother and best friend are really dislikeable.
An interesting read.

I listened to the audiobook of this novel and I found the overall plot endearing although a bit unrealistic. It begins with a chance encounter that immediately had quiet mysterious undertones. The characters were interesting and kept me interested. What I absolutely loved about this book is the slow, gradual character development that blossoms before the reader’s eyes as we get to see who these characters are, especially Ian. This built anticipation and kept me listening. My one complaint was the narration as I felt that it really detracted from the listening experience. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review of this book.

I have really been enjoying RM Demeester's books in the "The Girl Once Known" series.

This book, which according to Goodreads, was first published in 2019, is rough. Really rough. I struggled to get through it. Thankfully, the narration was reasonable and I could listen easily.

The descriptions of the characters bordered on sexists and very rude. The dialouge was repetitive. Some of the descriptions of the FMC body felt like body shaming.

I am assuming that this was one of her first books, because it feels very sophmoric and banal...like it was YA Fiction written for adults.

One incident can change your whole life. When Danyelle gets into a minor fender bender, it’s just the beginning of her whole world being turned upside down.

R.M. Demeester does a great job of incorporating unexpected plot twists. I enjoyed experiencing this story.

Sharon Robbins performance added to my enjoyment. She did a great job of portraying the characters and bringing the story to life.

This book I title Sex, Lies and Blinded by Love.
A standalone book written by a fellow Canadian... it has all types of twists and turns and it is appropriately all resolved at the end of the book.
Strong character development, giving you the full on roller-coaster ride of emotions, relationships, sometimes repetitive dialogue but overall well done.

It started off slow and got better. I knew something was up with Ian because he was so secretive about his life. No real big twists or climatic ending. Definitely shows what some people will do for love. Characters were good and overall plot was decent. Just not much meat to the story in general. Both Ian's and Danyelle's mothers were obnoxious.

Such a suspenseful and well written story. It's packed with romance and mystery that grabbed and held my attention. Story was on the slow side compared to what I usually read but the pace didn't disrupt the flow. The ending however...I so was hoping for a little more. It just didn't do the story it's justice in my opinion. The narrator did a great job with the narration of the story.

I was excited to dive into this “quick read” and became incredibly bored, felt that the story was going nowhere and the FMC was repetitive in her feelings. I should’ve finished this faster than I did; however, the misuse of punctuation and past/present/future tense mishaps had me confused. There are a ton of grammatical errors, and I legit couldn’t wait to get to the end. No suspense, no spice, barely a plot. Disappointing overall.

The book is good overall. It wasn’t my favorite read, but I did enjoy it.

I listened to the audio version and the narrator did a good job. It is a fast listen!!

An unlikely plot with a scatter-brained female protagonist who overthinks just about everything but very seldom makes a good decision. The male protagonist is just about as inane. I was given a free copy of this audiobook and I'm voluntarily submitting this review. I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth but this one reads like YA with 26 & 30 year old characters.

Danyelle Is so freaked out about her pregnancy scare that she gets into a fender bender while trying to calm down. And so, Danyelle meets Ian, and romance is in the air. This story contains lots of lies, a cover-up, family drama, and romance, ending in a HEA.

Danyelle and Ian meet by accident, quite literally. An exchange of numbers leads to coffee, which leads to more. While Dany is open about who she is, Ian is closed off and seems to be hiding something. That is the mystery. The story was a bit slow in the beginning and seemed repetitive at times, but it does pick up.

I had high expectations about this book, but I was disappointed. It was a slow read that didn't have any excitement. The plot was predictable and while some of the characters were likeable, they didn't leave a memorable story. I have read other stories by this author that I raved about.
