Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this arc.

A short but very sweet intro / novella to the Sunshine Valley series. Not much character development in 92 pages, but characters were nicely sketched. The story itself might have been a little hokey and re-heated, but so is Christmas most of the time. (Oh Lord, do I sound old and tired?) But it is a very nice way to start off the season.

It's that time of year!

You know the time I'm talking about. The time when you want to bust out all your Christmas decor. The time where you want to curl up with a cup of hot cocoa and watch a Hallmark movie. Or you could just curl up with Melinda Curtis' new novella. It's guaranteed to make you feel that Christmas magic too.

With it being a short story,

A delightful, well-written novella, with Melinda Curtis’ signature wit and humor! With well-developed characters, a Scrooge sexy bespectacled hero and a wonderful, lovable heroine, “The Christmas Wish”, by Melinda Curtis (Forever Yours), is a romantic and funny read, although dealing with quite serious issues.
I loved Everett and the fact he’s an older hero. He’s so sexy, adjusting his glasses, protecting his “hardened heart”

I loved this story. It got me into the Christmas spirit. Everyone is calling Everett Scrooge. It is his job to help the city become more fiscally solvent. If he can't find some way to get the city into the black, he will have to lay off some people at Christmas time. He is into enforcing the rules and laws and not everyone is happy about it. Rosalie is a new business owner and everything she tries to do to promote her business, Scrooge shoots it down. What can she do? Everett has had a tough ...more

The Christmas Wish by Melinda Curtis is part of the Sunshine Valley series novella, which takes place in Sunshine Valley, Colorado. This book is a love story between Everett, the city new town manager, who everyone calls Scrooge and Rosalie who recently opened a pet shop. Both have been married before. There is a lot of Christmas spirit, and it is nice to watch the couple as well as the town come together. If you are looking for a short sweet romance, give this one a try.

I am brand new to this series, but this was a nice introduction! ..even if the ending was more than a little eyeroll-y and overly cutesy (I, too, am a Scrooge).

THE CHRISTMAS WISH is a quick introduction to Ms. Curtis’ new series, Sunshine Valley, and while it may be novella length it certainly packs a festive, emotional story into a shorter length full of everything that I love about Christmas Romance. Rosalie and Everett seem like opposite sides of the North Pole when they first encounter each other. Rosalie is getting her new pet shop up and running – Everett has been hired to, well, fix the financial problems of the town

I couldn't wait to read The Christmas Wish by Curtis. I will admit she's a new author for me and when I saw she had out a Christmas novella I knew I had to try it. I just loved the cute cover! Make you want to join in and enjoy the holidays!

This is such a cute start to her Sunshine Valley series. Right away you started to understand the town and the people in it. You wanted to know more about everyone. Right away

Somehow my review posted to another of Ms. Curtis' books. I'll just re-post here.

Good holiday read

This story moved fairly quickly but was a sweet holiday read, at least for me. Rosalie Easley Reyes is a new business owner and she has a dog named Remy. Everett Bollinger is the new Town Manager (not from the area) and eventually has a sidekick named Tink. Rosalie is a young widow who has just started a new business. Read it for yourself because her family and friends get involved and makes her

This is the Widows Club at their best meddling and match making to their finest. This time they’re trying to hook up Rosalie Reyes who just came back into town and Everett Bollinger who was a bit of a stick in the mud as they ladies say.
Rosalie Reyes owns a pet store, Sunshine Pets and is doing her best with her dog Remy a Saint Bernard to get the word out about her store.

With the kick-off novella to her brand new Sunshine Valley series, Melinda Curtis delights us all with THE CHRISTMAS WISH. He's sort of the town's enemy ... and she's sort of falling for him!

Rosalie is a sweetly fierce character. She is finally taking a chance on herself and has started up that pet store she's been dreaming of for so long, but she's not about to stand around and watch this big-wig guy in a suit try to run roughshod on her friends, family and town.

The Christmas Wish by Melinda Curtis is a Christmas story with Sunshine Valley Widows Club, secretly know as the Sunshine Valley Matchmakers Club at work to find Rosalie Reyes a match. Of course, this is without her asking or taking into account her choice. Everett Bollinger the new town manager would not be her first or last choice. Early on she called him a killjoy, especially during the holiday season.

This book was seriously the cutest story, and it will put you into the Christmas Spirit for sure. I like how the author took to broken people and made them feel very much like real people looking for love. I loved all the characters of Sun Valley it truly felt like coming home, they truly felt like I was catching up with friends. I loved Yolanda and Kimmy oh my those two killed me. I hope that Kimmy's story comes out soon I would love to see what antics she's going to get herself in. Remi and ...more

I absolutely loved this novella. It is a heartwarming romance happening during the Christmas season. It includes charming pets, an adorable little one, a group of widowed ladies - that try to be matchmakers and Santa! A perfect combination for a light-hearted read (with a touch of a serious subjects included). The two main characters find love for a second time and in the process find peace for their past.

This is a super cute Christmas novella that definitely gets you into the holiday spirit. It's a great introduction to the Sunshine Valley series and I can't wait to read more about this small town. For such a short story it has very well developed characters and I loved learning about their backstories. I just wish that it was a bit longer so that we could've had more of a build up of Rosalie and Everett's relationship. This was my first Melinda Curtis novel and I'm definitely interested in

“The Christmas Wish” by Melinda Curtis introduces us to Sunshine Valley and the Widows Club (aka Matchmakers Club).

Rosalie Reyes needs to get the word out about her pet store, Sunshine Pets. But everything she tries to do for publicity, town manager, Everett Bollinger nixes.
Everett moved to Sunshine Valley to balance the town’s budget and, possibly, lay off some of the workers if he can’t find a way for the town to make money.

A sweet Christmas Novella with so much emotions both happy and sad.
Rosalie is a widow who runs a store named Sunshine Pets. She loves it and she loves her dog Remy.
But things are a little tense when the new town manger Everett Bollinger comes to Sunshine, Colorado. Attempting to work their matchmaking capabilities, the winner of a poker game that the Sunshine Valley Widows Club played has secretly chosen widowed Rosalie Reyes to find love again. This will not be easy, as the gentleman, Everett Bollinger, is thought of as Scrooge, and Rosalie Reyes is still in mourning over the loss of her husband. Sweet short Christmas story

A delightful small little Christmas story with lots of charm and great characters. Obviously, not much character development in a short story, but they were great to discover and not flat. Still a learning curve for both main characters, especially Scrooge. :)
The dogs were a great addition to the characters and helped to warm everything up even more. Some side characters were present and added enough to the story to keep the story running and stay interesting. The

he Sunshine Valley widows love to make matches. The lucky recipients of their match making are Rosalie and Everett. They seem an unlikely couple at first, he being in charge of tightening the budget strings on their towns coffers. Including Christmas. Including jobs.

But there are decisions and hurt feelings to deal with and so how they deal with things makes for an interesting read. The book is of novella length and very fun to read. I loved the dogs in the story. I'm glad this will be a series

Rosalie was a widow that the board of the Sunshine Valley widows club decided need to find love. Sunshine Valley knew these women picked a person every Christmas to try and find love for them.

The target along with Rosalie was a divorced man named Everett. He was in town to get the town’s finances back under control. The towns people called him Scrooge.

One of the reasons I enjoyed this book so much was because the hero was a curmudgeon who didn't want to celebrate Christmas so the town called him "Mr. Scrooge"!!!! Then, he slowly starts to change because of the persistence of a cheerful, animal lover named Rosalie! Their interactions are fun to read and it was a fun story line! I look forward to this new series by Melinda Curtis. Already I like the fun, small town in Colorado! The Matchmaking Widows are especially fun! I definitely recommend ...more
