During her second year at Cursed Academy, Giselle has three goals: 1.) Stop her friends from turning into monsters. 2.) Make sure she doesn't turn dark. 3.) Get out of Cursed Academy. When Giselle returns for her second year at Cursed Academy, it doesn't take long for things to go south. Sure, she's on the verge of slowing down her friends' transformations into monsters, as well as slowing down her own horrific changes. But that doesn't matter when her best friends, Maria and Mikey, take a curse meant for her--a curse that could ruin their lives. Unless Giselle steals a rare herb from the Underworld. And there's only one person who can get her there: Wendy, her arch enemy. After Giselle took her crush, Ronin, how hard can it be to convince her? And how hard can it be to get around someone who's determined to keep Wendy and Giselle at each other's throats?
Holly Hook is the author of the Destroyers Series, which consists of five young adult books about teens who are walking disasters...literally. She is also the author of the Rita Morse series, a young adult fantasy series still in progress, and After These Messages, a short ya comedy. Currently she is writing Twisted, a spin-off of the Destroyers Series due out in December. When not writing, she enjoys reading books for teens, especially ya fantasy and paranormal series with a unique twist.
Cursed Academy (Year Two)[A Teen Supernatural Academy Romance] by Holly Hook is a wonderful story to read. This is book number two in this wonderful series and I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves readign about paranormal stories.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book
We got two trips where Giselle actually did something and the characters got to grow a little. I still feel like Giselle is not developing. She has a little more backbone, she faced Hades and didn't pee herself.
Anyway, this second year was not that bad. I liked Ronin less of all, he really didn't do much. That thing with Cerberus seemed like Giselle was throwing him a bone so he could stay happy for a little while. He was sad because he felt useless.
The author is paving the way to the cool campus. I'm tired of waiting now, I want the story to be over.
Upper society versus lower, the alignment of the two Academies. The lines of who’s good and whose bad are still blurred, but year two delivers unexpected alliances and tons of self sacrificing. Written for a YA audience, this provides a clean read for adults as well . The is a charm about watching maturity and morals slowly take shape with these characters. I am still hoping the seemingly impossible goal does happen. All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
Dnf at about 12%. Liked the world building of the series, even though the writing could be better. However, using the Roman name of a demigod when the entire series is based on Greek mythology is sloppy.
This book starts with the group being in Colton Corners for the summer break. After realizing Achlys needed to have acces to the Underworld in order to use the water from the river Lethe, the gang starts exploring. After all, they need to get the Asphodil flowers that only grow in the Underworld to prevent Giselle, Maria & Mikey from maturing. On top of that mission, they still need to find a way to get the mark off so Giselle can go to Olympian Academy so she won’t go dark. Time is slowly running out. Her powers are increasing and she is not in the right place to mature and have an outcome that doesn’t involve utter Chaos and Destruction. They will need to convince enemies and avoid or trick immortals in order to continue their mission.
Giselle is back for her second year at Cursed Academy. Her and her friends have found the entrance to the Underworld, so now they need Wendy's help, Giselle's nemesis. They follow Wendy and end up having someone attacked them magically. Mikey and Maria end up receiving a curse that was meant for Giselle. Neither of them can't leave the campus without maturing. The question is - What can they do to stop the maturing???
I really enjoyed this book and I am loving the series!! I don't want to give away too much because so much happened in their second year of Cursed Academy. I am definitely looking forward to Year Three and what is next for Giselle and her friends, and Wendy.
You want YA academy angst? You want magic? You want something a ridiculously twisted tale that’s still both easy to follow and totally fun? Then you deserve Holly Hook’s Cursed Academy (Year Two). This Is teen supernatural academy romance at its finest. Well written and with wonderfully crafted characters. It’s really just that simple. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
Giselle start her second year at Cursed Academy and still trying not to turn to her dark side and help her friends from turning into monsters as well as trying to get out of this academy.
To help her friends get rid of a cursed meant for her, she must get an herb that can only be found in the Underworld and will need the help of her ennemy, Wendy. But are they able to work together?
Really loved the third book in this serie. Can't wait for the next one.
This series is one of my favorites out there. I love Giselle and Ronin and all their friends. Even starting to understand Wendy better. Poor Giselle trying her hardest and everything she can to keep the darkness as bay so she doesnt hurt anyone. I love how even if she has a bad idea Ronin is still there to support her as are her friends and shes the same with them. Really can not wait for the next one. Need to know whats going to happen!
I absolutely love this series! Everything you could ever want in a ya series is in these pages. This book continues Giselle's adventures as a budding immortal who is trying to be good rather than one of the "monsters." Full of action and even more Greek mythology thrown in to keep you wanting more. The next book can't come soon enough!
I started out having my doubts about this series, but I'm glad I've kept reading. Each book has gotten better and more interesting. This one is by far the best yet. I truly have started to fall in love with these characters.
