In the 1980s, George HW Bush imported cocaine to finance an illegal war in Nicaragua. Governor Bill Clinton’s Arkansas state police provided security for the drug drops. For assisting the CIA, the Clinton Crime Family was awarded the White House. The #clintonbodycount continues to this day, with the deceased including Jeffrey Epstein. This book features harrowing true stories that reveal the insanity of the drug war. A mother receives the worst news about her son. A journalist gets a tip that endangers his life. An unemployed man becomes California’s biggest crack dealer. A DEA agent in Mexico is sacrificed for going after the big players. The lives of Linda Ives, Gary Webb, Freeway Rick Ross and Kiki Camarena are shattered by brutal experiences. Not all of them will survive.
In prison, I read over 1000 books in just under six years, including many literary classics. Books were the lifeblood of my rehabilitation.
As told on National Geographic Channel's Locked-Up/Banged-Up Abroad episode "Raving Arizona," I used a tiny pencil sharpened on a cell door to write the first prison blog, Jon’s Jail Journal. My writing, smuggled out of the jail with the highest rate of death in America, run by Sheriff Joe Arpaio, turned the international media spotlight on the human rights violations, including guards murdering mentally ill inmates, dead rats in the food, lack of medical care...
Raised in a small chemical-manufacturing town in northern England, I was the first from my family to go to university. As a penniless graduate, I took my business degree to Phoenix, and worked my way up to become a stock-market millionaire.
But I also led a double life. An early fan of the Manchester rave scene, I headed an organisation that threw raves and distributed Ecstasy. On May 16th 2002, a SWAT team knocked my door down.
Facing a life sentence, I entered a lengthy legal battle. After two years of being held unsentenced, I was convicted of drug offences. Sentenced to 9½ years, I served almost 6.
I had only read finance books prior to my arrest. While incarcerated, I submerged myself in literature. By studying original texts in psychology and philosophy, I sought to better understand myself and my past behaviour.
Released in December 2007, I continue to campaign against Sheriff Joe Arpaio. I keep my blog, Jon’s Jail Journal, going by posting stories mailed to me by my prison friends.
In July 2008, I won a Koestler award for a short story, which I read to an audience at the Royal Festival Hall.
I presently live near London, and talk to schools across the UK about my jail experience and the consequences of getting involved in drugs and crime.
Excellent book. While we taxpayers work hard, pay our taxes - our "leaders" engage in selling drugs, criminal mafia activities, pedophilia, sex and children trafficking, killing people, selling drugs to its own people and then using those drugs to create coups on other countries. Basically a criminal government....no matter whether democratic or republican. And it's all done on OUR money. So basically we are dumb sheep...or rather slaves who are only used for work and slaughter.
Jaw dropping stories of corruption, murder and conspiracy. Personally I'm not a fan of conspiracy theories and unsubstantiated nonsense and don't entertain reading them, on this occasion there does indeed seam to be a cataloged history of substantial evidence. I'm glad I made an exception on this occasion, well written and believable story which sadly leads me to the conclusion that the most powerful country in the world is a cesspit of corruption run by idiots I thought the Q&A chapter with David Icke was a strange thing to throw in? For me it disrupted the flow, but for the most part easy reading and a worthwhile read
fantastic book that does a great job at exploring both the breadth and depth of the corruption inherent in the War on Drugs at the governmental and international levels. delivered in a easy to read and entertaining way.
Lately, and in a desire to better understand where I am living (the USA) as a legal alien from Europe, I started to read politicians' biographies and historic background on the American Constitution, as well as background about contemporary political history. One of the books I came across is the above: Clinton Bush and CIA Conspiracies: From The Boys on the Tracks to Jeffrey Epstein. What an eye opener, albeit not in a good way. I think most everybody knows how corrupt the Clintons are. However, maybe I am not the only one wh0 never suspected that the Bushes are just as criminal and corrupt, and just as merciless and self-servingly brutal. Naive me.... I had believed that the Bushes were into the oil business, and that it was all they did for business. Probably that's because I am a foreigner and never got to hear anything about these illicit activities around the Bush clan. As the author also states and supports in many places, the press is not objective, neither is TV. Manipulation goes on all the time and people are either too trusting or too lazy to background check everything they are being served there. I am guilty of that, too. Or should I say, was. Two past events put me onto being more suspicious and analyzing things/events for myself, rather than just adopting and swallowing the official versions served: 9/11 and the way Congress handles or rather does not handle the Mexican Immigration situation here in the USA. This book does not deal with those two issues, it deals with another one: drugs and their legal status in the USA. It deals with corruption and politicians making money, millions of dollars, on the basis of their political power and connections and in illegal activities such as drug trafficking. Abuse of public service, disregard for the political office they were entrusted to serve, blatant disregard for all laws of this country, manipulation of the citizens and manipulation of foreign states and politics and on and on. The list is harrowing and hard to exhaust. There are many ordinary people who got involved in those schemes, and the author of this book, Shawn Attwood, was one of them. There is a lot of food for further reading in this book, and I will continue my quest. We all need to find the courage to open our eyes to the political situation here. I think it is dangerous to just keep on snoozing and letting corrupt and power hungry politicians run this country into the ground, with utter disregard for the public office and the country they swore to serve. This is all a sham and needs to be addressed by "we the people". If we do not do this job, we won't have a democracy to call our own in a generation or two! A democratic process and a Constitution are only worth what we-the-people grant it. I did not give this book the fifth star, because I feel that one chapter on the benefits of marijuana as natural medicine, and how many people claim it saved them from almost immediate death of terminal cancer has no place in this book's topic. Read those books and do your own research! It is well worth it, for the future of this country.
Doesn't pass the smell test. What is the smell test? The use of Bill Clinton's name just to sell books to right wing liars & haters. How many times do we have to go over the fact that getting a bj from an intern in the 1990's really is small potatoes next to what the Bush/Harriman/Dulles clan & other rich & well connected families have done. It is ludacris to act like a little known Governor from Arkansas was in league with Bush. They didn't meet until Clinton ran for president in 1992. This is all manufactured lies by propagandist, serial liar & rat f***er Karl Rove. Others like Matt Drudge have admitted to making stories up like the fabled "Clinton has a black child" he created. Murdoch of the NY Post is another smear merchant making tons of money off of his lies about Bill & Hillary Clinton. To that end, he continued to use Bill Clinton's name in regard to Epstein, while protecting the actual collaborators Trump, Prince Albert, & pedophile lawyer Dershowitz. The so-called 26 times he was on the plane is also exaggerated & not backed up by documentation. The Secret Service were with Clinton each time he was on Epstein's plane. People who run foundations need philanthropists like Epstein. Furthermore, it's been said, everyone who was anybody went to Epstein's parties but nobody else was harassed & maligned besides Bill Clinton. I don't know about you, but I find that curious. It's a red flag.
Finally, & not the least point here, is that if/when CIA are doing secret things legal or illegal (like drug running), they don't necessarily need the compliance or permission from a Governor of a state or even a sitting president. The CIA can simply tell the Governor that there is an investigation, sting, or exercise they are doing & to not get involved. Does anybody REALLY think the CIA needs the Governor of a backwards state like Arkansas to sign on to it? Does anybody think the CIA needs or would include a Governor in on their secret plans, activities? Please stop the ignorance.
Instead of ACTUALLY doing research this ex-con lazy smear merchant doesn't bother to verify any of the rumors, conspiracy theories or other outlandish claims. Are there parts of this that are true? Yes, but that's the problem. Then you use some parts of the truth & then combine it with rumors, smears, & urban legends....it makes the whole thing not credible.
**To the people that actually believe this trash: you should seriously consider the source of where the information comes from. If it's not actual documentation....it's propaganda. Attempt to educate yourselves.
I was skeptical of this book before I read it. I’m glad I gave it a chance. To anyone looking to read this book, it is important to keep an open mind and not take anything at face value: do your own research.
This book has credible sources, transcripts, links to YouTube videos, interviews, etc. It starts with an interesting story that pulls you in and leaves you wondering. Each chapter digs deeper, only to tie all the events from previous chapters together.
You go on a wild ride through the eyes of different confessions, court documents, and various events that leave you scratching your head, wanting more. You’ll be on edge through every chapter. This book not only introduces you to the issue at hand but also goes over potential solutions extracted from conversations of official interviews with knowledgeable individuals who are familiar with the organizational squabbles.
I appreciate the author referencing the claims made in this book. It is a very easy read and to the point. I like how the chapters were different but linked together in some way, somehow. Like I said, always do your own research as there are large claims made in this book. It’s important to do that.
Incredibly interesting read whether you believe in conspiracies or not. Some of the facts are indisputable and there’s just too much evidence to show that the CIA were without doubt involved in the cocaine epidemic. With regards to cannibis and hemp it’s shocking what the US gov did for commercial gain!
If you want to understand how America really works then read this book. Sean shares a first hand knowledge and deep understanding of the subject. A page turner.
Interesting book and not at all surprised by any of it. Corruption and cover ups are the centre of this book and after reading it I wonder how they get away with it all? Boggles the mind.
Enjoyed this book but found it recounted a lot of the previous books in the series apart from the part about Jeffrey Epstein which I enjoyed. Worth a read.
