This is a simple but beautiful story of a military child working to keep communications open with her deployed dad. We read this at an FRG Meeting to our kids then created our own wishing trees, complete with yellow ribbon messages. This is a short picture book that provides a great idea to help older children (though you could do it with younger children if an adult writes for them) cope with the deployment of a parent. I think the idea of a wishing tree is so good, I'm going to do one for myself.
