Another Hit By J.B.J.!!

Ah, yes y'all!! Reading this book was definitely a good time!! I don't think I can express how much I love every book that Jenny B Jones writes! Her books just put me in a good mood!

Royally In Trouble continues the adventure from the last book. Paisley, an ex pop star, is now running Enchanted Events with her delightfully snarky friend Henry. They are heading up Sugar Creek's Renaissance Faire. Paisley is hoping it will be a hit event to add to her portfolio. But when one of the cast members is murdered, Paisley knows her plans for running a smooth event has seriously derailed...

When Beau, her super-hot neighbor who she has complicated feelings for, is named as the prime suspect. Paisley pulls out all the stops and enlists the help of her sassy ex-CIA grandmother and her aunt/partner-in-crime, to help her clear Beau's name.

Paisley feels like she has her life on spinning plates by trying to keep the Ren. Faire alive, avoiding her fam's matchmaking schemes, all while trying to solve the case before it's too late.

I think this book seals it for me for being one of my favorite cozy mystery series I have read. I really liked that the whole book was set at a Renaissance fair, I've always wanted to go to one! It was fun to see the behind-the-scenes p.o.v. as the whodunit plot unfolds.
Paisley is a character you can't help but want to be BFFs with. I identified with her some of the struggles she dealt with comparing herself to others and learning to love and appreciate her own strengths. I also found myself laughing at some of the hilarious things she would say and the funny/dangerous scenarios she would find herself in, along with her gun-toting grandma and aunt! I loved every minute of their crazy hijinks. Paisley, Sylvie, and Frannie are definitely #sqaudgoals!

I appreciate that the author took her time with the relationship between Beau and Paisley. You have a real sense of friendship between the two them, but the romantic tension sizzles right off of the page, Ya'll! This is a clean romance, but I nearly swallowed my gum during some of the kissing scenes! [Fans self]

J.BJ. does a great job of mixing sweet hometown charm with a Sleepy Hollow-esque mystery feel. There were plenty of twists, turns and drama to keep you guessing and engaged. Every character shines in a way that brings the story to life.

All I know is... (sings) I want more!

Lol! I can't wait for the next book!

Super Cute!

This is my type of cozy mystery!

Small-town charm
Mystery that keeps me guessing
Likable and realistic heroine
Swoony leading man
Endearing and quirky supporting characters
Witty dialog that gives me a chuckle

Sure, I would have liked out leading man to have a bit more page time with our heroine, but the time he does show up...swoon! These two have Chemistry! I also liked that even though its been ages since I've read the first book, I could dive right into this one and not miss a thing. I love when books in series can stand well on their own.

I don't read a lot of mystery, and haven't read too many cozy mysteries. If they were all like this I would though. While the focus is more on our heroine, Paisley and the mystery she is thrown into, there are some nice side stories going on to keep things well-rounded. I thought it was well written, have a nice pace, lots of funny dialogue and a mystery that kept me guessing until the end. Highly recommend this series.

Content
Romance: Clean, swoony kisses
Language: None
Violence: Mild - murder mystery, a couple attacks - nothing graphic

This is a solid 3.5 (in between the "I liked it" and the "I really liked it") mostly because I'm discovering I'm not a huge fan of romantic feelings between hero and heroine being so drawn out (I knew this was going to be the case when they didn't get together at the end of book 1) but I think the addition of new potential (and viable-at least for Paisley) love interests and the "misunderstandings" just feels silly and at times a bit annoying. As to the plot, this little murder mystery had lots of suspects and twists and turns to keep any reading sleuth turning pages. Always, the CIA grannies make every chapter interesting and I loved their fun jokes and sarcasm. This was a fun read, not my favorite, but one I'd still recommend to anyone looking for a fun, clean, read.

How is it I forget just how much fun it is to read a Jenny B. Jones book until I read another one? The lady has such talent for making me laugh! I admit I was a bit concerned that having not read the first book of the series I wouldn't get as caught up into the story right away. I should never have doubted! Ms. Jones is amazing, y'all. :)

From the crazy-awesome chemistry between our main couple to every unforgettable side character, there is pretty much something for everyone here. At least for those who love a good laugh! And a good mystery. Kudos to Ms. Jones for keeping me hooked on trying to figure out whodunnit! I am becoming a bigger fan of these cozy mysteries that are getting more popular these days and this is an excellent addition to the genre.

Oh, and the ex-CIA grandmother? And the book club? And witty banter everyone's got going on? Seriously. How does Ms. Jones do it? Every time I stopped giggling and got serious, there I'd go all over again! Have I mentioned this book is just a lot of fun? I loved Paisley! I loved getting inside her head and completely understood all the crazy going on in there. She's a woman after my own heart! I just got all the worry and doubt she had to push through. But what's so amazing about her is that she pushes through no matter how hard it is! She's determined to keep moving forward and figure out this life she's been given. And the Renaissance Faire she's heading up is just the icing on the cake!

Okay, so all I've done is gush a bunch of exclamation points. Sorry folks, but that's pretty much all I've got today. I just really loved this little story! Even if mystery or romance isn't really your thing, I feel very confident that Ms. Jones is able to change your mind. Trust me. It's a ride worth taking, my friends! :)

*I received a free copy of this book as part of Jenny’s advanced readers, but all thoughts and opinions are mine.*

What has always been my favorite aspect of Jenny’s books, is in flawless form here—her humor. Jones was one of the first authors I found truly hilarious and is still one whom I can expect to make me laugh out loud.

Royally In Trouble, aside from being another in her collection of well-done comedies, is also a great story of family. Between the relatable, sarcastic Paisley Sutton, her is-she-cooky-or-just-unassumingly-wise grandmother, Sylvie, and you-never-know-what’s-coming Aunt Frannie, the family dynamics are heartwarming and up to par with what you'd expect from a family tree that also grew Mad Maxine.

Now, I can't have a proper review of this book without mentioning the romance—mostly because I think Sylvie Sutton would be quite disappointed in me since it is the most important aspect of Sexy Book Club.
If you haven't been introduced to the ladies’ reading group, however, here’s a snippet from one of their meetings in Royally In Trouble:

“Okay, let’s talk about our novel.” Sylvie held up a tattered paperback. “At Paisley’s request, this time we read two books—our beloved romance novel and” —her glossed lip curled in distaste—“Paisley’s classical suggestion, A Tale of Two Cities. Thoughts on the classic?”
“Boring!”
“Depressing!”
“It made me want to eat carbs!”
“Zero hanky-panky.”
Sylvie regarded me with that I told you so incline of her fashionably styled blonde head. Tonight she displayed a new angled bob, with part of her hair extra short and sassy. “Let it be noted that we will continue to be Sexy Book Club. Not Sexy and Scholarly Book Club.”
“I just thought we might like some variety,” I said.
“We do like variety.” Frannie powered up her e-reader. “Last month our hero was an amnesiac duke sweeping the stables, and this month it’s a pirate who sails the seven seas completely shirtless.”
“Something for everyone,” Sylvie said. “Now, moving on to the book that we all actually read. We shall now discuss . . . She Walked the Plank for His Booty.”
Good heavens.
“How this thing hasn’t won a Pulitzer is beyond me,” Frannie said.
“Agreed.” Sylvie nodded her head. “It’s a perfect treatise on conducting oneself diplomatically when under siege and in wartime conditions. Plus, three cheers for the kissing scene on the poop deck.”
Frannie lifted her tent-revival hands to heaven. “Amen! Men today should embrace more swashbuckling.”

While the relationship between Paisley and Beau may not have included swashbuckling, it was by far, a well-done romance. (To be honest, it actually beats Katie and Charlie for me.)
There’s a compatibility and grounded spark between Beau and Paisley that hooks your heart and has you championing them, right along with Sylvie, Frannie, and Paisley’s cousin Emma.

The mystery itself was well planned, with plenty of viable suspects and plot twists to keep you guessing.
I could keep telling you about all the things I loved in this book. But if you’ve made it this far, I hope I’ve said something to make you want to buy a copy for yourself and fall in love with the world of ren faires, sassy event planners, and a wild ride of adventurous—and laugh-out-loud hilarious—cozy crime solving. Royally In Trouble will certainly go on my shelf of favorites by Mrs.Jones, and I can't wait to see what mysteries Paisley and her “four pack” of a crime-solving team will uncover next in Sugar Creek.

I’ll start by saying I really, really loved this book and the way Jenny B Jones writes about small town America. Haven’t read a book by Ms. Jones I didn’t like. Love her whit and sarcasm.

With the sass of a seasoned professional and the habit of being in the wrong place Paisley and Beau are part of another murder investigation.

With fun, witty characters that make you laugh out loud and reread parts, with yep that’s what she said moments.
In this cozy mystery we are back again in the town of Sugar Creek, Arkansas as it hosts a Renaissance Faire. Another dead body has turned up. Will the owner of Enchanted Events, Paisley Sutton along with her Grandma Sylvie and her Grandma’s CIA retired partner Frannie, live to have another meeting of the Sexy Book Club.

Caution: drinking sweet tea while reading. Book has enough sarcasm and humor that will have you spraying sweet tea and laughing hysterically.

Can’t wait for book three; but Jenny B Jones books are always worth the wait.

In Royally in Trouble, Jenny B. Jones has crafted a smart, bright and hilarious mystery with a touching romance. It is thoroughly enjoyable.
Many times I find these cozy type mysteries are too cutesy for me. But this one I could not put down. It is a story Paisley Sutton, a previous girl band pop singer who is sarcastic and quick-witted. She is an event planner currently involved in the Sugar Creek Renaissance Faire. Her grandmother, Sylvie and her aunt Frannie are recently retired CIA operatives who are still actively sleuthing at every opportunity. They also host the Sexy Book Club. When Paisley’s old friend Beau becomes the prime suspect in a murder, you can guess who steps in to solve the crime. All this combines to provide laugh out loud moments and a mystery that I didn’t figure out until the end.
My favorite line in the book (that was not humorous) “Beau hesitated, a pause so full of unspoken words, I wanted to reach out and pop it so the thoughts would fall out and we’d have to speak each one.”
And then there were too many humorous ones to note, but this one from a book club meeting, “Now, moving on to the book that we all actually read. We shall now discuss… She Walked the Plank for His Booty.” “ Good heavens.”
If you enjoy a truly well written story with a great deal of humor, read this book. I had not read the first in this series, but I will definitely go read it now and also anything else this author writes.
I was given a free copy by the author but the opinion is entirely my own.

I'm excited to talk about this book today because Jenny B. Jones is one of my favorite authors! I've read every one of her books (multiple times!) and really enjoyed them. This one was no different!

I really enjoyed the first book in the series, Engaged in Trouble, so I was excited to read the second book!

This book has it all. Mystery. Humor. Sass. Romance. And even a little bit of suspense!

Every single character (yes, even all the minor ones) in Ms. Jones's books are so well developed and interesting. I never once got confused over who was who. Paige is really fun and likable. I wish I knew a real life Beau! And don't even get me started on grandma Sylvie and Frannie! There were numerous times I was laughing about their antics!

Plot-wise this book had me from the very beginning. This was one of those books I didn't want to finish because I didn't want it to be over, but I also didn't want to put down because I had to know what was going to happen next!

I had a different suspect in mind, so I was a bit surprised at who the killer ended up being. While I was a little disappointed it wasn't who I thought it was going to be, I was still pleased with the outcome.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and I highly recommend buying the first book, Engaged in Trouble as well as Royally in Trouble. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for a review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Nothing says “read me” like a mystery with a Renaissance faire, an ex-CIA grandmother, and Jenny B. Jones’ name on the front cover. Although it should probably also come with a health warning that advises against drinking while reading it—and that goes for any beverage, not just the alcoholic kind. Because the possibility of snorting a giggle through your nose at the precise time you take a sip is an ever-present danger.

For example, you need to beware of:

(a) random incidental characters like prepper Sarge McShane, who has, among other things, a self-published book entitled Beef Jerky for the Lactose Intolerant.
(b) Paisley’s deadpan humour: “As tempting as naked pole-vaulting into the fountain on the square.”
(c) random mentions of outrageously-titled books being read by Sylvie’s book club, such as The Valiant Viscount Weds a Vivacious Vegan.
(d) any time Sylvie and Frannie are in a scene: “I’ll be as discreet as the panty lines on my thong bikini.” Lol. NOT!
(e) soooooo many other random moments of humour!

If there was going to be a trailer made for this book, this is how it would play out:

Umbrellas in hand, Sylvie, Frannie, and I got out and walked to the front door in a single file line, an army of resolute lady power. We were problem solvers. Truth seekers. Women who pursued justice.
"I just stepped in gum." I stopped my swagger long enough to check out the bottom of my heel. "Shoot."

There almost didn’t need to be a mystery to make this a worthwhile read! But mystery there was, and it kept me guessing until the end, switching theories quicker than Sylvie and Frannie could disarm a security system with a Tic-Tac. (Don’t ask—trade secret).

And that Beau Hudson. *le sigh* Forget Sylvie’s ridiculous Sexy Book Club heroes. Beau will do me just fine. I mean, Paisley. He’ll do Paisley just fine. That’s what I meant to say. Honest.

More please!

Ms. Jones does it again with Royally in Trouble! This book is the second book in this series. You can read this without reading the previous book, but it would be beneficial to read the first book before this one (just in understanding the characters better). This book is funny at times, romantic at times, suspenseful at times. Paisley is a has been rock star who is back at home in Sugar Creek as a business owner of Enchanted Events. This time a murder has occurred and Paisley’s friend Beau is getting the blame. Paisley doesn’t want everyone to think that Beau killed his uncle so she does a little investigating to clear his name. Paisley often finds herself in the biggest messes. Besides the murder, will Paisley realize how she feels about someone and will you see any romantic sparks? Be sure to read this book to learn more about Paisley’s love life. I love Ms. Jones’s books. The secondary characters in this book are amazing! They are so entertaining and usually comical at times. I highly recommend this book and her other books as well! If you enjoy mysteries and some laughter this book is for you!

Jenny B. Jones creates a sassy heroine with Paisley Sutton, and her grandmother, Sylvie is just as much a hoot!

One of the things I've grown to love about Jenny B. Jones is the genuine laugh out loud humor she creates in her books.

While I read the first book in the series, this book can be read as a stand alone, but you'll want to read the first one.

The whodunit part of the book is similar to other cozy mystery's. Nothing gory, and lots of humor.

This is not a Christian fiction cozy mystery. There is no inspirational thread woven through the book. It is however, clean. No foul language or anything remotely distasteful. I'm a grandmother with grandkids from ages 14-3 and I'd be fine leaving this within their reach.

Bottom Line: This is a book full of humor, sass, and whodunit complications revolving around event planning and a Renaissance faire. There are also 80's references. A clean read that is safe for pre-teen on up.
Highly recommended!!!

Paisley Sutton is back with the rest of the memorable Sugar Creek residents. When a man is murdered, and the renaissance faire Paisley and her staff are in charge of, she refuses to believe the main suspect is guilty. Beau may be many things, but he is not a killer.

This cozy mystery had me laughing. A gun-toting, ex-CIA grandmother and aunt who host a sexy book club (and have plenty to say about said books) and speak their crazy, gotta-love-em minds provide plenty of fodder. There’s also some blood pumping-pulse pounding action, and a mystery that kept me guessing until the final curtain call.

And then there’s Beau. Oh, this guy who kissed Paisley like he meant it and who says things that leave her (and us readers) swooning is one to hang on to.

Jenny B. Jones’ second installment in the Enchanted Events series is even better than the first. I’m looking forward to more time in Sugar Creek with this crew!

The story continues in the great style started in book one, Engaged in Trouble. (You need to go back and read this book first if you are new to the series!) Royally in Trouble is about Enchanted Events branching out beyond wedding planning. As they start doing a variety of Event planning, putting together a Ren-faire is new, and promises to be a huge feather in the cap of the business. A multi-week event with thousands of visitors! Hate to mention it, but another murder needing Paisley and family to solve. Many red herring and stunning conclusion coupled with great characters make this another winner! You won't want to miss this event!! And more to read after this one. Loved it!!!

I love me some JBJ! With lots of sass, humor, romance, and 80's references, your smile never quite fully fades before the next one forms. Royally In Trouble didn't disappoint.
The line that made me laugh out loud..."Ever since you moved back to Sugar Creek, you and Beau have been circling each other like you were about to break into power ballads."

I loved everything about the first in this series from the meddlesome, slightly crazy CIA grannies to the small town feel that emanates from the story. So how could Jones possibly improve on what I already loved so much? Add a Renaissance Faire of course! Tights, gowns, jesters, a doom and gloom psychic and a mysterious murder quickly have Paisley’s world turned upside down and me laughing out loud.
My favorite part of this series continues to be Slyvie and Frannie. These ladies are a hoot and so much fun to read. I’d love to hear more about their crazy spy adventures in the future. The titles for Sexy Book Club were amazingly outrageous and I had such a fun time imagining the covers for each book.
I was hoping that Paisley and Beau’s romance would have progressed a little from the first book, but boy do they continue to throw off sparks.
This book is a clean, humorous mystery that I would absolutely recommend for anyone wanting a fun read.

It's been a long time since I've sat down and thoroughly enjoyed a book.

There are books that I've loved reading, either because they touched my heart deeply or because they sucked me in and wouldn't let go. I've read books that I've rated 4-stars and 5, books that I'd recommend for myriad reasons, and books that I liked so much I'll likely read them again and again.

Don't get me wrong--Royally in Trouble was all of the above, but I just flat-out enjoyed the heck out of it. I read the first book in the series, Engaged in Trouble, right before I read this one, so it was really DOUBLE the enjoyment. Truly. These were the kind of books you read and catch yourself smiling and then when you finish, you breathe in this huge breath of fresh air and tell yourself, "That was a really, really fun book. I LOVED that!"

Royally in Trouble had all of the wit & sarcasm I've come to look forward to in Jenny B. Jones books, making it not just fun, but funny. I particularly enjoyed the characterization of the series' heroine, Paisley. She's quirky, has some baggage and is very Stephanie Plum-like in her way of finding herself at the wrong place at the wrong time (although, while a long-time fan of Evanovich's Plum, I find Jones' Paisley to be way more likeable. #justsayin)

Don't even get me started on Sylvie and Frannie--they're hysterical.

What's more, the mystery in Royally in Trouble kept me guessing and re-guessing, with just enough twists and turns that I remained heavily invested and thoroughly interested. And the underlying romance between Paisley and Beau is charming and at times, downright swoony--especially given the driving force behind Paisley's relentless and undeterrable effort to solve the murder was to clear Beau's name.

All that to say--you won't regret the time spent reading this book.
I'm already geared up for the next one!

'Basically I was the Sugar Creek Angel of Death'.

A Jenny B. Jones book is one of my most favorite ways to spend a day or two. She is such a hoot. I love her wit, her turn of phrase, her...well, basically everything about her writing. I never miss one of her books. And she does romance very well, too.

Paisley Sutton, owner of Enchanted Events, a business thrust upon her by a deceased aunt in the last book, and one she has decided she actually enjoys running, is back at it again. Enchanted Events is hired to help with a Renaissance Faire when one of the leading players turns up dead. On purpose. Well, now Paisley and her grandmother and aunt, Sylvie and Frannie, just have to solve the crime because the Sugar Creek police force is so inadequate. The only thing is, when Paisley tries to solve crimes, she usually manages to nearly die herself. A bit disconcerting. As is her maybe relationship with her hunk of a neighbor, Beau Hudson. Will that situation ever be settled? Or defined?

This book was a delightful couple days spend reading it. I'm sad it is over, but looking for the next in the series. Highly recommended.

It is a brilliant tactic to add the first chapter or two to the end of the previous book in a series as that generally leads to the purchase of the next book immediately. At least, that is what happened with this one.

I liked the fact that Paisley decided to stay in town and to take on a partner in her wedding planning business. The leap of faith to move onto more than weddings was smart and paying off, at least until a murder happens and this time Beau is on the ropes. Sorta. Bad blood with the relative who is murdered is enough to have the police put him on the suspect list, but Paisley knows that there is no way he would cross that line.

Again, the story engaged me and it most likely had a lot to do with the crazy grandma and aunt, ex-CIA and always up for shenanigans. Like the first story, Paisley has no business playing detective, but there is no stopping her, especially when she has her trusty sidekicks there to prod her into it if needed. If it were not Beau, she may have tried to stay out of it, but then again. Another fun read, and of course, I had to buy the next one immediately too.

Royally in Trouble is the kind of book that gets you, dare I say, royally in trouble for getting so lost in the story that you read well past the end of your designated lunch break at work...

From beginning to end, Jenny B. Jones keeps the reader on the edge of their seat as they try to anticipate the next turn in this lively mystery. Jones balances the weightiness of a murder investigation and the tenderness of a love story with her characteristic charm.

The story follows Paisley Sutton and she attempts to solve the murder of the owner of the new Renaissance Faire that has come to Sugar Creek. When not snooping around the Renaissance Faire, Paisley avoids her feelings for the ever dashing, yet devastatingly aloof Beau Hudson. The plot thickens to include clues gathered at the Sexy Book Club, a near-death experience involving a speeding car, and meddling aunts who won’t stay out of Paisley’s love life. We won’t even talk about Paisley’s new boyfriend or the reappearance of Beau’s ex-girlfriend.

If you like a mystery that doesn’t go a stereotypical direction, this book will not disappoint you.

If you like a love story that drives you nuts with the number of times you want to yell JUST TELL HIM HOW YOU FEEL ALREADY, this book is for you.

If you like laughing while you read, this book should be on the top of your “to-read” pile.

Finally, if you’re looking for a book that can produce gems like, “The more you look for the sky to be falling, the more you’re gonna find evidence you need an umbrella,” this book will have you highlighting good descriptions and witty quotes to your heart’s content.

As a long-time Jenny B Jones fan, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. However, I must admit that I spent at least the first half of the book wishing I had a character list to reference. I found myself struggling with the many active characters in the book—though this may be more a problem with my attention than the writing of the book. The other thing that caused me to dock a star from a full five-star review was the way that Emma Sutton, heroine of A Sugar Creek Christmas, seemed to be forced into this book. I love Emma as a character, but she sort of fell flat against the larger-than-life personalities of Sylvie, Frannie, and Paisley. She ended up being an unnecessary fourth leg to a stool that stood just fine with three legs.

I give Royally in Trouble 4 stars.

With her signature sass, wit, and pop references, this is another hit from Jenny B. Jones. Paisley has to solve another murder mystery while trying to run a Renaissance faire, balancing diva clients, period costumes, knife-jugglers, her handsome will-they-or-won’t-they neighbor, and, of course, her crazy former-CIA grandma. I enjoyed trying to figure out who the killer was (I was wrong!) and I was dying to know where things would end up between Paisley and Beau.

Jenny B. Jones is one of my must-read authors, and her latest release did not disappoint! It was entertaining, unexpected, and fun. It solved all the big questions while staying away from being predictable. I’m looking forward to book #3!

Royally in Trouble is a stand-alone, but I’d definitely recommend reading the first Enchanted Events book (Engaged in Trouble) for context and some back story.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts are my own.

What fun! More craziness in Sugar Creek! Will Paisley ever have a normal day without another murder? Now, what would life be without her crazy, quirky Grandma Sylvie and “Aunt” Frannie? These two sweet ex-CIA ladies help in ways that might not be helpful or safe! But even still, they bring the little town of Sugar Creek to life!
Whenever I read a Jenny B. Jones book, I know I’ll enjoy it. I’ll be entertained with humor, quirkiness, bits of suspense, drama, and sweet romance. Her books always have characters who are so unusual and a bit eccentric. I love all the crazy dialogue and word choices. I could so relate to many of the things the characters say!
This book also has some swoon-worthy moments and the relationship between Beau and Paisley just keeps getting better and better. Of course, Paisley’s sidekicks don’t help too much! HA!
I highly recommend you pick this book up for a fun, delightful book that’s easy to read.

My gosh I don’t even know where to begin! Jones definitely knows how to write a mystery full of intrigue and MAJOR surprises! I did NOT see that ending coming and I can’t wait for more Beau and Paisley!

What I love about Jones’ books is her ability to create relatable, funny characters that you would want in your life! I mean come on who doesn’t want a sassy, overbearing grandma like Sylvia? Her and Frannie are amazing! I also love the family aspects of her books! You not only have your blood family but also friends who have become family! It just goes to show that family could be anything as long as they love and support you!

I’m really loving the fact that with each book Beau and Paisley are getting closer and I’m hoping for an Enchanted wedding featuring Paisley!!

*I received a free copy of this book as part of Jenny’s advanced readers, but all thoughts and opinions are mine.*

I absolutely loved this book!! I haven’t read “Engaged in Trouble” which is the first book in the series and so was a little concerned that it might be confusing in places, but I needn’t have worried - this book is great as a book in its own right (although I have now put Engaged in Trouble on my Christmas wish list, because - who wouldn’t after reading this one?!)

Paisley and Beau capture your interest immediately and the older members of the family are hilarious. It’s lovely. Nothing in it to offend, keeps interest all the way through, plenty of humour and a killer - something for everyone! Buy it - you won’t regret it! Xx

I’m really loving this series! I’ve never heard of a “cozy mystery” before but I’m hooked.
This is book two in a series about Paisley. She is a washed up pop star returning to her small town, Sugar Creek, to take over an events business. Sugar Creek reminds me very much of Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls. Lots of fun and eccentric characters that you grow to love. Mix that with Paisley (who has the best lines and inner monologue) and Beau (who is totally swoon worthy) then throw in a little murder mystery, and you’ve got a super entertaining story! Lucky for me, the third book is already out so I’m definitely going to go read that next because I think I already miss all the characters! :-)

I've been eagerly waiting for this book and it did not disappoint. I loved revisiting Sugar Creek and following Paisley and her CIA retirees through their latest murder investigation shenanigans. One thing I love about Jenny's writing is how her sense of humor shines through her characters. No one knows better how to write a comedic murder mystery than Jenny. I also enjoyed the continuing hot and cold interactions between Paisley and Beau. It's never a dull moment of subtext between those two. The only bad thing about this book is that I finished it and now have to wait for the next installment.

Jenny B Jones knocks it out of the park... again! Royally in Trouble is an amazing read full of mystery, murder and laugh out loud (again and again) moments. I loved reading more of Paisley and Beau’s love story. They are so real and relatable, which I appreciate. Don’t get me started on Sylvie and Aunt Frannie... I laugh just thinking about their antics. I CANNOT wait to read Fanatically in Trouble!!! Royally was totally worth the wait; I didn’t want this fun book to end. Bravo, Jenny! PS, no cliff hangers are present in this book. Jenny has written a very satisfying end that will make you sigh in satisfaction. :)
