WOLF UNDER FIRE by Paige Tyler is the first book in the STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team series. The book mainly takes place in England with a few scenes elsewhere. In this story, supernatural creatures are known to a few, but not all humans. As with humans, some supernatural beings are criminals and the United States has put together a team of supernatural beings and humans to deal with these criminals domestically as well as internationally. STAT agents Jestina Ridley and former Navy SEAL, ...more

I love Paige Tyler's books, my favourite being S.W.A.T. and I love X-Ops... it looks like STAT is going to be right up there with the others!!

While each series has a similar feel but with a different team, I love that. Wolf Under Fire had the romance, the mystery and the nail biting OMG feel to it that other books have and I was gripped. I think Paige has the best ever werewolves and I love the individual characters that each book portrays.

This is the first paranormal romance I've read. I have to say it was an odd dichotomy of urban fantasy, military adventure, and romance. I liked the world this was set in and the world building quite a bit. What I couldn't get past was these two horndogs in the same new military unit who couldn't keep their focus on the mission and out of their pants. They'd be preparing to go on a dangerous mission against a group of supernatural creatures and start thinking, "I sure would like to lick all that ...more
This one had a hard time keeping my attention, odd because I like the series it was spun off on. It might be me, maybe not, we'll see for sure when I get to the next book. I did like the idea of a team that was in on the supernatural and that tackles going after the bad ones in the world. I even liked the team members and the dynamic they were building. So not sure why this one was hard for me to read. ...more

Jes was on a mission with her teammates when some kind of paranormal creature took out two of her team. She calls for backup and that when Jake and his werewolf teammates come in to help track down the paranormal that killed two of their own.

Jake is a werewolf and once he sees a picture of Jes, he's smitten with her before he joins her team. But once they meet he's a little disappointed in how she reacts to him and his team being werewolves. She doesn't know them, does't trust them or him and p

Having followed Paige Tyler’s SWAT series from the very beginning, going into Tyler’s spinoff with the STAT series feels like a natural leap forward as the new team Alpha Jake Huang jumps into the unknown with his put-together team and a woman who just might be ’The One’ for him. With a wider range of supernatural creatures and a larger emphasis on paranormal activities driving occurrences around the world, this should have been an entertaining ride. That much was seen to

WOLF UNDER FIRE kicks off Paige Tyler’s new STAT (Special Threat Assessment Team) series. It’s very similar to her SWAT series, which is a paranormal romance that features shifters. I really enjoyed that series, so I was glad to see her continue on with that concept in this new series.

I’m not really sure what to say about this book because it is so similar with the other series. There’s plenty of action and amazing thrills in this book, so if you enjoy fast-paced suspense then I think that

Action, adventure and love! Wolf Under Fire (STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team #1) by Paige Tyler is a spin-off of her successful SWAT series which is phenomenal. In this new series the STAT team is a hybrid mix of folks that are aware of the supernatural and when necessary take down dangerous supernatural offenders. This is a terrific team and I look forward to future adventures with them all.

I usually love shifter romances but something about this just meant I struggled to connect with the story, it was ok but just didn’t grip me. They’re meant to be federal agents but are so obsessed with each other you could have taken them out easily they were so unfocused. Jes I just didn’t really like and there wasn’t much chemistry between her and Jake , not for me unfortunately

Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casa for my complimentary e-arc of this book. I really enjoyed Wolf Under Fire by Paige Tyler. The is a supernatural thriller that kept me engaged the whole time. Think Mission Impossible with a supernatural twist. This book releases May 26, 2020.

The novel centers around Jess, a human agent who is part of the Special Threat Assessment Team (STAT). The team's mission is to intervene in situations where supernaturals are behaving badly (most humans are unawar

This was my first read by Paige Tyler and I liked it but I didn't really love it. Don't get me wrong, this is a good book, well worth the time it takes you to read it, I just didn't fall in love with the characters or the plot as I hoped I would. When I read the blurb for this book I was immediately drawn to it and was slightly let down by the end result. It started good but as story progressed I kept losing interest. It did pick back up towards the end though. What lowered the rating from me al ...more

I love books with paranormal romance, but I just couldn’t get into this book. The mythos of these particular werewolves was unconventional and spotty. I mean, sure, I get that having a secret werewolf gene that is activated by some traumatic situation is a cool premise. But be consistent with the amount of trauma needed. Also, the assignations of Alpha, Omega, and Beta seemed lazy.

Then the main characters kept annoying me with how easily they got distracted with thoughts of each other when they

Wolf Under Fire is the first book in Paige Tyler's new STAT series and a spin-off of her SWAT series. My first impression? Awesome! I love Jake and Jestina and the rest of the team. Jeslina is a STAT agent in London handling an investigation that looks like it may involve supernaturals. She ends up,with help from a new team of STAT members of all different types and strengths. Jake the new leader the STAT team called in to help, he’s just trying to get his new pack to all work together. This story was well written and really fun to read. I hope we have more in this series in the near future.

I have been a fan of Paige Tyler for about 3 years now. I have read all of the X-Ops series and am working through the SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series. I hoped at the chance to start reading the new STAT: Special Threat Assessment Team series.

Jestina Ridley has horrible luck. She looses her teammates to an unknown supernatural creature only to be put on a new team, lead by Jake Huang, full of werewolves and supernaturals. Now she must learn to put that fear aside to save a little child who

Wolf Under Fire is the first book in Paige Tyler’s new Special Threat Assessment Team/STAT series. It’s a spin-off of her Special Wolf Alpha Team/SWAT series which I love a lot. The STAT team is an international task force created to address supernatural threats. The best thing is that the team itself is composed of supernatural beings that had never met until now.

Jestina “Jes” Ridley and her original team of humans are assaulted in London while investigating some kidnappings.

Jes has has two run ins with werewolves that have ended in death. She is assigned to a new task force to deal with a MI5 agent that includes werewolves. Jake is an alpha ex Navy Seal. He is everything Jes is afraid of or is he? This is an offshoot of the SWAT series and can be read as a stand alone. It is full of action, intrigue and romance. There are so many interesting characters that Mrs. Tyler can add a host of follow-ups, please especially for

Jake is a tad bit slow on things, even when his woman lays it all out, "...I get it. And I’m okay with it. So stop talking and take me to bed. We have to leave for the mission soon, and I don’t want to waste the rest of the time talking.” Jake stared at her like what she said had completely blown him away." I liked this book, I liked Jake.
I picked this up for one reason only: the hero's name is "Jake Huang". But after only a few page, I had to DNF because it was glaringly obvious that while Jake is a former Navy SEAL and an alpha werewolf, Jake is barely Asian. The quote above is literally the only mention of Jake's ethnicity. Is he a Korean-American werewolf? Chinese-American werewolf? Adopted werewolf? Who the heck knows, because the author couldn't be bothered to go beyond describing him with jet-black hair and dark eyes. By t ...more

Former Navy SEAL turned alpha werewolf Jake Huang was just hired to lead a team for STAT, the Special Threat Assessment Team, a covert government agency assigned to supernatural cases around the world. He meets his new pack, his team that includes other werewolves as well as human agents, and immediately gets sent on his first assignment.

Disclaimer: I am not the target audience for this novel. Romance isn't one of my favorite genres, but I was curious. BookPage recommended it recently as a good read.

High points:
Comparing this novel with the Mercy Thompson series has given me a much stronger handle on the difference between paranormal romance (this) and urban fantasy (Mercy Thompson). The main difference: here the plot felt like a backdrop to introduce the romantic couple and have them interact with a common goal, but the focus w

Here we meet the newly formed Special Threat Assessment Team (STAT), bravely headed by Jake Huang. Jake has recently moved to DC to start a new life and a new job with the twin beta werewolves that he has taken responsibility for. The STAT team is a mixture of werewolves and humans, and nobody really knows each other. Jes is one of the humans of the new STAT team. She is distrustful of the three werewolves that a
Paige Tyler starts this spin-off series with action and emotion. I love her stories because there is lots of action, the women are just as brave and tough as the men and her paranormal elements keep the story unpredictable. I am never bored reading one of her stories. She keeps me on the edge of my seat and the romance is always hot. I like how her paranormal creatures are coming out of the woodwork. We meet some in this story I've never encountered before.

This is like Mission Impossible with shifters. Heavy on the action, light on everything else. Some implausible things happen, but they are still fun and the author did a good job of keeping the action exciting. Jestina, a human and a STAT agent, had her team torn apart by something vicious. Jake, a wolf shifter and a new member of STAT, has been tasked with leading the newly put together team that will help Jestina find out what in the heck is going on. Just like the SWAT series I think I am really going to love this new STAT series. I love me some werewolves! Ms. Tyler knows how to do paranormal romance right. This was an awesome book, that started out action packed and didn't let up until the end.

Jestina Ridley and her team from Special Threat Assessment Team (STAT) were looking into a kidnapping of 14 year old Olivia Phillips out of her bedroom from the eighth floor of where she lived. Everything pointed to a supernatural being involved. As Jestina headed back to her team members, she sees a creature with glowing yellow eyes that have just killed her two teammates, which now cemented the fact that a
