Trying to keep this one pretty short I think, I have too much I want to talk about anyway. This is a series I can't recommend to anyone at all, it has too many issues that I think will rub the majority of people the wrong way. However, if you can get past some glaring issues/characteristics/tropes of the series there is a lot of great storytelling hidden under the surface. The power/magic system is one of the best if not the best I’ve encountered in any media. The way Kamachi mixes mythology, religion, history, and real world science into his story is just really well done. The series has some great character writing, with Accelerator and Mikoto having excellent character arcs throughout. Going to leave it there probably, everyone should read Volume 3 though, the sisters arc is one of the best stories ever put to paper. Also Mikoto is the goat, no better female character in anything.

So, after three and a half years of reading this series on and off, I’ve finally finished it. Well, the first part, Old Testament, at least.

Man, this series is a rollercoaster. It has some low lows, but when it’s good, it’s really good. I think overall, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Even the worst volumes have information that enhances the world-building and makes the better arcs shine even more.

I’m going to take a break before I tackle New Testament mainly because light novel prose is ass and it makes me feel like I’m losing brain cells when I read too many on the run. I am looking forward to seeing what happens though.

So yeah, good shit.

Personally, Fiamma and stuff has never been interesting to me, so seeing his (kinda) sad ending didn't really do much for me even though it was kinda surprising to see it end like that with Aleister. On the other hand, I have been enjoying all the dirt Hamazura and them continue to dig up about Academy City and how everything is starting to change their view about the esper powers itself and how this dreamlike chance they've given to all these children to possibly utilise it is more than it seems. Considering how accepting most people have been towards the esper powers, it's interesting to see more of the skepticism towards Academy City after Misaka and Accelerator's experiences.

I don't know what to say; it was an interesting read. I guess there was so much going on that it was a little hard to keep up, but it had a good ending. I can't wait to get to season 2.
