Switchback: A Patrick Flint Novel - a review by Rosemary Kenny

An incredible family thriller adventure that will have you on the edge of your seat and chewing your fingernails down to the elbows with the excitement and tension to be found within Pamela Fagan Hutchins' Switchback, whichis #1 in her A Patrick Flint series - it's sure to be #1 on your mystery thriller adventure bookshelf.I really liked the contrast between 'moody teenager' Trish, who was a real pain in the b*m at the start, but

AUDIO BOOK REVIEW: SWITCHBACK is the first book in the new Patrick Flint series by Pamela Fagan Hutchins, and it's the first book I have heard the author narrate. High marks for both in this edge-of-your-seat story that drops one conflict after another to keep readers trapped inside the pages.

"Wyoming out-wested Texas and then some."

Man vs Man, Woman vs Man, (Wo)Man vs Nature, (Wo)Man vs Self - readers get it all with the picturesque but deadly backdrop of the mountains of Wyoming. As if that

PFH returns to Wyoming with a new character, Dr. Patrick Flint. Yes, there's some tie-in to the Maggie novels, but this is a whole new series and you don't have to have read those to read this - I hate it when you have to read one series before you can start a new one, so I really appreciate it. I received an ARC of the book, in exchange for proofreading services. And I got so engrossed in the story that I kept forgetting to look for flaws, typos, etc.
Well drawn characters, great scenery, and a

A tense, satisfying thriller with suspense that builds with each new chapter. Pamela Fagan Hutchins fans will fall instantly in love with Patrick Flint and his young family as they navigate a camping adventure that turns out to be much more than they bargained for. Pamela layering of several points of view to tell the tale made this one a particularly fun read. Those who know her stuff will be pleased with the life and complexity she breathes into her characters. Her affection for the outdoors ...more

No spoilers in my review, but here's what you need to know. A well-written story of mystery and suspense in a family camping trip gone horribly wrong. Amazing descriptions of the setting and the story, an edge of your seat nail-biter that will keep you swiping your Kindle because you just won't be able to find an appropriate stopping point! Initially, I agreed to proofread the book for errors and inconsistencies, but got so engrossed in the book, I just didn't, so I'm pretty sure that speaks for ...more

I read Switchback in one fell swoop. I could not put it down. The scenario had me tense from the end of the first chapter and kept me up with nervous energy through to the end. The vivid descriptions of people and scenery were so real and I fell in love with the portrayal of the different characters at their best in spite of all their human flaws. The time frame of the book made me realize
once again how different life was before all our modern crutches. I read Ms. PFH's "Maggie" series one

At first I thought it was a bit slow taking off, but every portion set you up for what was to come!! It was totally needed!! Essentially told by 3 of 4 family members (Patrick, Susanne and Daughter Trish) little brother Perry plays an integral part.
As all Pamela Fagan Hutchins novels (What Doesn't Kill You series) Switchback has characters well developed, suspense, and not just strong male characters but female characters which I love.
Once again, Pamela's descriptions of the area, Wyoming, and

I really enjoyed Switchback! This is not the usual genre of books I read and it really was quite refreshing and entertaining. I have read other books by this author and enjoyed them also but this one really hits it out of the ballpark! Lots of things going on in this book, some comical, some not so funny. Grab your own copy and see what I mean. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

This is a gripping story that you wont be able to put down about a typical family in the 1970s.

A camping trip goes very wrong and is told from the whole families perspectives which will have you sitting on the edge of your seat.

While not what I would normally read I am desperately waiting for more.

A good book. I enjoyed it. Even though I was given a copy of this book by the author, it in no way influenced my opinion and this is my honest review.
