I thought the first one was pretty good and I was intrigued by Mephisto and Erin was the sort of flawed MC I often like reading about.
However, this book was a bit meh really.
Whilst the over arching plot sort of progressed, I feel like most of the book was just meandering about around a plot line I wasn't really invested in.
Meanwhile there is no real character development or progression really, and certainly not between Erin and Mephisto.
The abrupt ending annoyed me, too.i may or may not pick up the next one.
However, this book was a bit meh really.

Can’t stand MC
I don’t get Erin. Stubborn and selfish, all her wrongs are fine because it’s her, her friends, her life, her secrets, but no one less is allowed to hide things. She asks favor after favor but doesn’t reciprocate. All these big strong men are drawn to her for her snarky attitude? Can’t do it anymore.

I absolutely loved this second book in this series. The plot was fast moving, tense, full of action with a touch of romance and the characters were so intriguing too.
Erin Jensen is Raven Cursed, but may now possibly be more than that! She uses death magic in a very unique way - her magic is not active like those of other witches and the only way she can use magic is to take that of others, putting them close to death whilst doing so. If she does not return their magic quickly enough, they die! However, she has two options to get hold of her own magic, permanently...
Whilst trying one option out, her witch friend tries a spell, but inadvertently releases a very powerful being - one intent on getting his revenge big time! This being causes chaos in the world of the supernaturals and feeling guilty and scared for Cory, Erin has no other choice but to help right this wrong. Working with both Asher and Mephisto, she is desperate to come up with a way to stop him, but he is not going down very easily at all and seems to be one step ahead of them all every time.
A few secrets about Erin's past are also revealed and she now has something else to try and deal with!
I loved Erin - she is flawed, desperate, yet determined and loyal to her core. She will do anything to protect those she loves even if it means putting herself in harm's way! Her attractions to both Asher and Mephisto are tempting, but with Mephisto she's not sure if it is him she is attracted to or just his magic! Although she is desperate for her own magic, she does have a conscience and knows that causing someone's death by taking their magic is not acceptable - she's an addict of sorts, but completely understands the consequences of her actions! I really do hope that she will find her own magic in some way that doesn't have serious repercussions.
The ending was brilliant and completely unexpected. I can't wait to read the next book now to see how what happened leads into something else happening!

I absolutely love this book! Great character development. I love seeing how much Erin has grown as our MC and I love that many of the other characters remain ignigmatic but intriguing.
They have moments of selflessness that have you rooting for them and in the next chapter cursing them out because they are so selfish or secretive. Overall you can really see the tense dynamics in a world were secrets and power keep you safe and and in control.
This book is filled with surprising twists & turns putting this series in the coveted hard-to-put-down category.
This book has a different spin on the usual witch, wearwolf and other assorted paranormals. We are still waiting to really see what many of the characters can not only do... But who and what everyone actually is. I love the suspense and drama of trying to figure it out.
Erin isn’t perfect and she struggles a great deal with the nature of her a abilities she (and her kind) are greatly feared in the magical community because of things her people did in the past. Erin is very relatable and you see her struggle almost daily with what is right and what she needs.
There's so much I really enjoyed about this book! I am team Mephisto, he is fascinating endearing and so secretive. But Mephisto is a intensly fasinating character. I just need to know more about him and what he really want's. His true intentions and motivations are still deeply hidden.
I am surprised to say Asher is growing on me as I see the true weight of being Alpha and the lengths he is willing to go to save his pack.
The ending had me THUNDERSTRUCK holy nail-biting cliffhangers!!! I was like WHAT NOOO I need more pages.... I am literally dying in anticipation for book three.
I really highly encourage you to get this book you will not be disappointed it is THE bag of Chips, the Whole Enchilada and a Side of Amazing that just can't be ignored!!!

Erin is still struggling with her problem with her magic. It seems to be hard to control that urge to take magic from others. She is trying to lift the curse of her magic, when Asher gets her the book.
She might not have the offer for Mephisto any longer.
When she gets together with Corey and Madison to go over the book, Corey decides to try a spell. The spell unleashes something, but they don't know what.
When working on a job for Victoria, she comes across the person that Corey accidently released. He is really strong, he is after the Fae and using the shifters to attack.
Erin is avoiding the possibility that her parents are not really her parents. The person that could be scares her of the possibilities of her true magic.
With Erin trying not to take magic from others, dealing the fall out from the spell Corey did, her feelings and deal with Mephisto.
This book is really good, it starts off with a bang and keeps going. There is so many different things going in this book. Love the tension between Mesphisto and Erin. Would love to see that go further. I can't believe the way thins ended, I really can't wait for the next book.

Received as an ARC. All I will say before it’s released is that it is a must read!!! This book is as captivating as the first! Erin grows in this book. Mephisto as always takes your breathe away and you hang on his every word. This book has all the thrills and adventure that any book by McKenzie has. You won’t be able to put it down. This book is a must read as is this whole series. Read it. You will be glad that you did.

It so refreshing to read a book about something different, Erin’s magic is so unique it makes Raven Cursed series a breath of fresh air. I love the story, I love the characters and I love how unpredictable the whole book is. All the characters captured my heart or my hatred which is exactly what you need in an excellent book. And this is an excellent book that I would highly recommend.. I can’t wait for the next one

Magic at its best!
I loved the first book but this one is even better! Wow! The development of every character, their skills and abilities and their personalities is superb! Beautifully written and every word evokes images..... This is a wonderful book! Please ensure you read them in order!

Silverfall, like it’s predecessor, was a knock out! Full of intensity and unique story building.
McKenzie Hunter has mastered this genre and every world is a pleasure to visit.

Even better than the first book!
I loved this book! Amazing story with a badass main character. I love Erin and her struggle, you really see her developing and changing throughout this book. Oh and let's not forget Asher and Mephisto! I cannot wait for book 3!

Thoroughly enjoyed
Well, after all reading this second book in the Raven Cursed series I'm well and truly hooked. This is an excellent follow on from book one and draws you further into the world and characters. I cannot wait for book three to be released.

Raven Cursed Series *Books 1-5

Overall:
I LOVED this series and couldn’t put it down. The story arc is complex in a way that kept me engaged and appreciating the author’s writing. The story is nonstop and the action keeps coming at you . The sub plots in-between the main story arc are well thought out and detailed. The banter is witty, funny, and entertaining.
There are some spicy moments but it’s not over done. I love a super steamy romantic fantasy these books didn’t get steamy until the end. That being said while having some steam these books were not a super smutty romantic fantasy BUT…the story and writing were so good that it didn’t matter and was well worth the read. It still has all the things I want in a romance while not sacrificing the story to give it to me.
The world has a mix of so many of the magical beings you want in a fantasy book.
I couldn’t put it down and wanted to cry when I got to the end of book 5 and couldn’t go on to book 6.
But I did pre-order it and I did pick another series by Mckenzie Hunter to read next because I liked this series and the way it was written so much.
Likes:
- I liked the characters.
The Characters are steeped in mystery for a lot of the story. Yet I was still drawn to a lot of the characters by actions without the mystery being revealed. I found the characters were complex and the personalities were well built.
-The author challenged my vocabulary and I left each book feeling smarter because of it ! But what can I say I’m a word nerd. Lol
-Once the steamy tension gets started it’s pulled so tight you can feel it.
-I always love a strong female lead which you get from this book. However our lead while strong is still very flawed which makes her feel more real to me.
-The complexity of the story!
Sometimes I need an easy read sometimes a complicated one. This book manages to be complex while being easy to read. That’s not an easy thing to do. The authors writing in my opinion is very fluid and easy to navigate while keeping the complexity of the story the entire time.
-Plot within a plot.
Sometimes big book series’s can get dragged out and cause me to lose interest. While the main story arc is dragged out and I was wanting that big reveal the author managed to keep all the sub plots so entertaining that I enjoyed the ride while the drag of the main story was happening . This is another thing that I don’t personally find often in a-lot of books.
Dislikes: (Not really dislikes in this case)
-Not a dis like but more something that I thought I should point out to potential readers.The main story arc does seem to take a long time to get through HOWEVER…. Between the witty banter and well written sub plots the author kept me entertained so much I found myself not minding it.

Erin has got her hands on the book she believes will give her magic permanently, without harming others. But when they are going through the book, Cory uses a spell so he can try to see the Veil. Now, a new threat has been let loose from the Veil and is taking control of shifters to use as pawns in its games against the Fae king and queen. Erin feels responsible and decides she must help Asher get rid of the threat, but can they do that without consequences they couldn’t even imagine?
Erin is one of those characters you aren’t sure how to feel about at times. She does what’s right but she’s still a little on the immature side. But there has been definite growth since the last book. She actually feels guilty for her part in releasing Ian the damage he’s done. Her inherent need for magic hasn’t gone away and it likely won’t, but she’s working on controlling it. Asher, of course is a big part of this book since he’s trying to keep his shifters safe. Mephisto is also a MC and Erin knows she can turn to him for help with rare magical objects. He also starts to hint that there is more to him than we’ve been led to believe.
This is another fast paced book with surprises around lots of corners. Erin is constantly putting out fires and trying to keep Cory and his secrets safe. She’s also finally dealing with her own family and secrets, which we get more back story on but I’m still anxious to learn more. And that ending! How can Mephistopheles say that and just end the book there!?!? I will definitely be starting the next audiobook soon.

Captivating
Wow! I've read all of McKenzie's books, it was actually one of other series that got me reading urban fantasy, & paranormal, and I'm yet to find another author in this genre that can draw me in make me feel like I'm actually there, in the middle of once again has become an epic story. So reading the first book in this series (Fireborne) i was worried that I wouldn't get that same pull I've had with her other books, I'm good with admitting i couldn't of been more wrong, The story drew me in from the first chapter & by the end of the book I not only wanted more but I NEEDED more! So just when you think things can't get better, she releases Silverfall 😁, the character development is amazing changing my perceptions of some from the first book, giving me a whole new spin on an amazing story, definitely left wanting more & very eagerly awaiting book 3. I don't want to give the story away but seriously cannot recommend enough, there may be a small cliffhanger at the end, not enough to drive you mad, just enough to leave you wanting more. Well done on another captivating book McKenzie 👏, loved it 😊

I do not know what to say about this series other then I love it! I was not sure if I was going to enjoy the MC but she is pretty awesome. I like how the author is balancing her need/addiction for magic with her learning to have a conscience. I did not understand why it was so hard for her to understand right and wrong on this; but the author again has done a great job of bringing you on her journey and answering this question. This is a cool take on urban fantasy. The action is strong and rapid fire. The slow burn romance is right up my aisle. The character all have a purpose a whether as enemies, friendenemies or friends. They are fairly fleshed out without giving their stories completely away. So much more to learn and hopefully to continue this series well beyond the book coming out may 31. I am so pumped about the next installment because so many questions are going to be answered.

That’s it?!?!
On one hand I’m not surprised about how the last scene ended and played out. The first book was kinda similar in the fact that it dropped a bombshell and then fades to black, the “sneak peak” of the next book doesn’t do much to make me regret almost dropping my phone from the stupid announcement. On the other hand, as a fan of the series and a reader in general, I deserve more. It’s a tired trope that Hunter relies heavily on in the majority of her series. But fair warning it gets old...fast. Similar things happened in her Legacy series and I was left with more questions than answers and not quite satisfied about the characters arcs and where the author took everyone.
It is my genuine hope none of that happens here.

So angry I could not finish the book
I read the first book and wasn't impressed but tired to give the female lead a chance. Unfortunately, she got worse in this book. She is addicted to magic and will harm people to get it. She tries to take it from people without their permission. Thankfully, a few of them are able to stop her from doing it. She is in denial about her addiction and has a lack of respect or care for anyone but her sister or BF Cory. The way she acts completely set me off. The hipricrital selfish nature she has made me unable to finish this book. I only made it 63 % of they way. Right after she received someone's magic, she agreed to give it back and then thought of ways to keep it. She tries to negotiate and begs to keep it when the person shows up to take the magic back. So inconclusive if you like a person who is an addict, will do anything to get what they want. Then this book is for you.

She did it again. I was pulled into the McKenzie Hunter's world again. This time we have Erin's story. There was so much going on in this story that I really had to slow down and reread something over to be able to take it all in, but oh boy, Deception, mystery, intrigue, and even some fun. I totally loved watching Erin and Asher spare back and forth. You can tell by their banter that they being really good friends I think. I mean, so that has to mean something, right? She discover her family secrets? I couldn't put this book down once I started reading it. We see characters develop more from previous book. If you've followed McKenzie Hunter series, This is one you don't want to miss!! And the epilogue Cliffhanger???? Well, you didn't think I was gonna spoil that did you? LOL Get the book!!! That's all I have to say!!

Wow! You want intrigue and adventure? This book is a MUST READ! Erin is smokin' with the drama between and her two love interest! Who does she choose? Asher is major yummy as the Alpha of the shifter pack. He may not have power she can take, but he oozes danger and charisma. Then we have Mephisto. What and who is he? When Erin draws in his magic, she is almost unstoppable! The heat between the two is positively undeniable. But will he ever open up enough so she truly knows him? Will her bestie, Cory, ever find his niche and true love? McKenzie Hunter is definitely the queen of cliffhangers and character intrigue and development. Once you start reading, you REALLY cannot stop until that last word is read! This book is packed with everything, adventure, drama, love, the whole package! I can't wait for more <3

The Enigmatic Magic Continues
This is the second instalment of the Raven Cursed series. If, like me, you were completely taken with book one (Fireborne) and were waiting with anticipation for this second book, I can promise you won’t be disappointed. McKenzie Hunter has outdone herself with this book. It’s packed with action, intrigue and well developed characters.
Erin’s inner monologue gives us a fantastic insight into who she is and at times provides an element of comedy. She remains one of McKenzie’s most relatable female characters and is definitely one of my favourites. Despite great character development and more insight into his magic, Mephisto‘s background and history remains a mystery. We see the introduction of a powerful new villain, who tests the magic of everyone, from shifter to fae and all the enigmatic individuals in between.

The second book in this series has us following along with Erin as she is beginning to discover that things are not what they seem. For starters, her parents are not her parents. That is kind of a big thing. Without going into spoilers, I'm not going to say what other HUGE things she discovers, but I will say that things are getting interesting.
Yes, we still have Mephisto. Is he good or not so good? Just when I think I can trust him....darn it, he does something to make me doubt him.
What about Asher? I think I'm more pre-disposed to like him because he is a charming and friendly guy. But...he's a shifter and even more importantly, he is an Alpha. So...no. I do not know who to trust and guess what? Erin has no clue either.
Things are getting interesting.

Very good paranormal book that Rivals some of the well know authors
I usually like 1or 2 sex scenes in any book I read. I feel there's more of a intimate connections since I mostly read romances but again there are none in this book just a little sexual tension. The story and connections are so good I'm okay with that for now. Erin is trying to get her own magic without killing any one or stealing it. Erin and her bbf Cory mess around with a rare magic book that releases a dark Fae from the veil . The dark fae is out for revenge against Erin's friends the shifters and her clients the Fae king and queen. She must find away to put the darker Fae back in the veil without releasing her mother and dying

Holy Cliffhangers
Ah McKenzie, what did you do to me? I started reading this book and could not put it down.
Erin is doing whatever she can think of to figure out a way to fix/use her powers and not have someone dead as a result. Enter the yummy Asher who helps her out with a spellbook that is the stuff of legends. Of course things go wrong. Then we have the mysterious Mephisto. What exactly is he wanting from Erin, and what does she want from him?
This book will draw you in and not let you go until you get to the last page, and then you are left wanting more... needing more. I can't wait

Absolutely love this series and the world that McKenzie Hunter has created. This is not a fly by the seat of your pants magic world where you feel as if it's copy and pasted from every other urban fantasy realm. No, in this series you get grit, depth and phenomenal world building. You feel truly invested in the characters, Erin & Mephisto especially as you are left with the ever burning question of will they have a HEA??? There's definite heat and charisma between other possible love interests (I won't spoil any more) but in the end you know who you're going to end up rooting for. Or at least I did! I can't wait to see the next in this series when book 5 comes out!!

Better than the first book, but still annoying 2.5⭐
Erin is the punching bag\underdog\whipping boy on both sides if the veil. I mean, she is a loser in the very LITERAL sense of the word. The girl can't catch a break! She is constantly beat up and broken down. Every time something "good" happens, another person turns around and treats her like garbage. Its so disheartening!
Also, the whole Goddess thing is a joke. She is an easily broken human woman that is brave, but not particularly good at anything accept getting herself in trouble.
Its just frustrating, and it ends on a cliffhanger AGAIN!

So much happens in this book! Asher plays a bigger part in this book. When Cory's curiosity gets the best of him & he unleashes a prisoner from the Veil. Ian is a fae that can control shifters & fly. Oh, and did I mention that iron does not affect him? He has a grudge against Asher & the fae king & queen. Erin risks everything to help right Cory's wrong because she feels partly responsible. And she has to keep the secret that Madison was there too. She finally confronts her parents at Mephisto's urging. And learns what she suspected all along. Poor Erin is so lost by the end of this book. She has so many questions.

While the heroine sometimes verges on into the "almost too annoying for her own good" category she does.just about ride the line for me. I do like both of the love interests and there is enough push and pull to make it both interesting and believable in the confines of the story. We get some additional found family in this book too, which is nice. The action is a bit less in this one as compared with the first book, but we are still moving the plot along and getting a tiny bit more backstory. Overall pretty fast paced though. So if you like a slow burn urban fantasy like Patricia Briggs' Mercedes Thompson series than I would definitely recommend this series. It's on KU too.
