Anthony S. Park is a professional executor, attorney, and best-selling author of “How to Invest for Retirement.”
As an attorney, Anthony has advised hundreds of families on their personal finances. But more importantly, as a professional executor, he’s seen what fared well (and what didn’t) at the end, upon death.
He writes to share all that he’s learned from this unique perspective about money, personal finance, and business.
Anthony lives in New York with his wife and kids, bikes everywhere, and plays soccer every week (rain or shine).
It’s a short book, so it’s worth the read. There wasn’t much I didn’t know, and I would have liked to see the promotion campaign, but overall it organized all the “need to knows” nicely
I am familiar with at least one other book by this author, his book about choosing an executor. That book was well written and well organized, and so I was expecting the same from this book. Fortunately, I was not disappointed. If you work for a corporation, this will help you develop both your long and short game for garnering promotions and raises. The book is very logically laid out. First, he talks about the importance of promotions and getting raises without promotion. He then has a couple of chapters about doing well at your job and getting noticed for what you do so that your boss may be more apt to give you a promotion. A few chapters follow about how to prepare for and do “the ask.” He ends the book on what to do afterward. He's also liberally sprinkled a variety of tips throughout the book which may or may not relate directly to getting a promotion but can be helpful in your career, like using metrics in the major accomplishment section of your resume. The writing is clear, which is always appreciated in a nonfiction book. His books are so well written and organized that I look forward to reading more by him to see what other wisdom he has to share.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
When this advanced review copy of How to Get Promoted: Simple Steps to Better Title and Better Pay by Anthony S. Parks popped up in my inbox, I was thrilled because I knew that I was in for a well written and very informative read. Having had the honor of reviewing several other books written by Mr. Parks, I know him to be an author who walks the walk and he talks the talk and I begun reading this work expecting nothing less.
After reading and reviewing his books How Probate Works: A Guide for Executors, Heirs and Families and How To Hire an Executor: For Your Love One’s Estate or Your Will, I didn’t think he could make his writing any clearer or easier understood but he did just that in How to Get Promoted: Simple Steps to Better Title and Better Pay. Parks not only breaks what can be a complicated process, a process which varies from corporation to corporation, down into simple steps, he leads you through those steps one by one. This is a book that every HR person should provide the recent hire along with his or her employee’s handbook.
