A ray of hope for caregivers of Alzheimer's patients Alzheimer's afflicts millions of people around the world, as well as the family members who care for them. Alzheimer's ― Finding the A Communication Guide for Those Who Care offers practical help for both the sufferer and their caregivers by easing paths of communication as the disease progresses. Faltering speech and language processing is often at the root of common behavioral changes that cause conflict; by showing you what to expect and how to work around the changes, this book provides a lifeline that can help make your time together more fulfilling on both sides.
I'm not reading this book straight through, cover to cover. Rather, I pick it up as needed and am using it as a guide and a resource for dealing with a dear relative who is in the middle stages of Alzheimer's disease. The book is clear, concise, and thorough. My questions are answered and it is preparing me to deal with this horrible disease, all the while treating my relative with the utmost care and concern, and honoring the dignity of her wonderful person; despite our current (and future) frustrations, her memory loss, depression, and weight loss. This book was loaned to me by our parish nurse. It is easy to understand and written in a non-medical style for ease of reading by the non-medical public. I recommend it for anyone dealing with this horrible, horrible disease.
