A Palette for Love and Murder is the second book featuring Detective Oliver Parrott. I did not have the opportunity to read the first book but that had no impact at all on my enjoyment of this novel. Detective Parrott is back at work after his honeymoon and this time he is on the case of stolen paintings by local artist Blake Allmond. Det. Parrott has somehow become the officer who investigates the crime that occurs among the richest residents of the Brandywine Valley. This latest crime is a bit ...more

Saralyn Richard has done it again! Delving into the twists and turns of the lavishly rich, Detective Parrott goes on a hunt for an art thief in the Brandywine Valley. When a murder follows on the heels of his investigation, Parrott treads carefully, trying to balance the obligations of his job and the logistics for the New York based Murder. Parrott’s new wife, Tonya, suffers from PTSD. She stretches the line of duty taut with her need to heal previous traumas. Will she cross the boundaries of ...more

Thoroughly enjoyed Mrs. Richards' second Detective Parrott mystery, A Palette for Love and Murder! Set in the world of artists and art dealers, the plot of this novel keeps the reader engaged from beginning to end as young Detective Parrott helps to solve a murder. I became a fan of Detective Parrott after reading Murder in the One Percent, and grew to appreciate him all the more after reading this novel. Characters are well developed and the plot takes twists which kept me wondering, "Who did ...more

Intelligent Mystery Writing at it’s Best

Clever, Sophisticated Agatha Christie, Keen detailing, Fresh and real Characters. As in her first book, a look into a world few get close to. A treasure quest in a beautiful mansion. Don’t miss this outstanding read. Couldn’t put the book down, already paying for it, and glad I didn’t put the book to bed. I’m looking forward to the next Detective Parrot. And now, turning out the light!

Murder mysteries are not normally my favorite genre, but this book as well as the first in the series, “Murder in the One Percent” were very enjoyable! Just enough suspense to keep them exciting, but not scary or gory. I spent the whole book trying to figure out “whodunnit” - there were several viable options!! I highly recommend this entertaining read!

Another great read!

Love how Ms Richard draws the reader into the various scenarios. Her characters are so realistic as are the situations. I have yet to figure out the culprit from the start or until the end!

Great Mystery!

I was drawn in right from the first chapter. I loved “Murder in the One Percent” and Detective Parrott just keeps me riveted. I really hope this book becomes a movie!

Saralyn Richard does it again.

A Palette for Love and Murder provides both a compelling mystery and an education into the worlds and relationships of the wealthy and the marginalized. Oliver Parrott and wife Tonya return from honeymoon to be thrown into the theft of two paintings by Blake Allmond. But when the artist is found murdered in his New York apartment, the focus shifts to those who lived in and near his Brandywine Valley mansion. Saralyn Richard effectively opens us up to the

It was a good mystery novel. It was kind of slow to get started and some of the phrasing was odd. I enjoyed the characters. Read my full review at Girl Who Reads

The rich is at it again. A well-known painter lost 2 of his paintings moments before his murder jolted a local bird-loving detective from his post-honeymoon life. The painter, along with anyone in his circle, has a past that is neatly buried. This includes his long time girlfriend, Elle. As an artist herself, aligning herself with somebody like Blake Allmond can be a defining path. Sure— but did she go too far this time? Did she kill him?
or has his past finally catched up with him?
