Every person who is a company officer or looking to promote to the position of company officer should read this book!

Over 10 chapters and 140 pages, Jarrod Sergi lays out practical steps toward becoming the company officer and leader that your firehouse crew deserves. With moral integrity, setting standards, and being consistent in holding people to those standards, we as firefighters can improve our firehouses, our organizations, and the fire service as a whole. Sergi provides a practical approach to doing so.

This is the perfect primer for people looking to become leaders in their organizations. I would honestly say that the strategies he shares could cross over into the private sector as well. The template he provides could even be applied to our families, within the walls of our homes.

Terrific leadership book with actionable advice and real world examples that look at the realities of leading a fire company. The authors voice comes through clearly and authentically. I especially enjoyed the chapter discussing his approach for the “not-so-east conversations”. In addition to learning about his leadership perspective I also learned the author drinks quite a bit of coffee.
