She’s an indie operative who only works alone, stealing other super heroes’ powers with a kiss and bringing down the bad guys. Those stolen powers add up to a crazy arsenal, but Temptress isn’t built for super strength and shooting laser beams. Her body is falling apart and a teensy mission slip-up gets her tangled with the Manhattan Ten.
He’s the M10’s leader. The man, the myth, the Mensa-conquering legend. Nothing escapes Thinktank’s calculations… Until a run-in with Temptress leaves him powerless. Superpowers stolen with a kiss can only be returned with a kiss.
Natural enemies can only get closer. And closer. And closer…
It’s love at first fight in the second volume of the Manhattan Ten series.
Temptress was originally book #1 in the Manhattan Ten series; but with the 2019 re-release, the author moved it to be book #2 in the series.
Quick & Dirty: A hilarious look at the true lives of superheros.

The Review:
In Temptress, there is a quirky, fun world where superheroes are the norm. A world where supers are still like everyday people that relax, have hobbies, get married, and subsequently trashed at the bachelor’s party. But if a superhero breaks the law, who is there to stop them? Enter in Temptress, a woman that can steal another’s super powers with a single kiss. Her job is to make sure that the police and other security officers can be on equal terms with a super law breaker. Unfortunately this time, Temptress accidently steals the powers of a man that is innocent; and can’t seem to be able to give them back. Crap, now what?
Jenny Ray aka “Temptress” is just like any other single gal. She is hot and doesn’t mind going out on the town but would rather spend her nights watching the Food Network in her jammies. Too bad duty calls. Since her super power is to take other people’s powers, she is naturally thought of as a villain. Her actual work is helping out the police and working security in the casino she lives in on the Strip in Las Vegas. But over the years, absorbing so many powers has taken its toll on her. She lives alone, works alone, and is forced to attend to her wounds alone. When she takes Thinktank’s powers in self-defense, it forces her to realize that having someone at your back may not be a bad thing after all.
Jason aka “Thinktank” is the leader of the Manhattan 10; a powerful and well known superhero force. He is strong, smart, and a natural leader. When his powers are taken, he finds himself at the mercy of a villainous woman; not a place he has ever been before. Tank’s life up to this point has had very black and white defined lines. After spending time with a woman that he previously viewed as bad, he realizes the mistake in his assumptions. Not only is she smart and sexy, but she keeps him on his toes; not bad for a man that is a mind reader and boasts super intelligence. Does he have the courage to admit his feelings?
While all of this is going on, Temptress and Tank work together to stop what seems to be a new super villain. The bad guy’s name is Drake. Yeah, a dorky name for a villain but that’s okay because his ability is to alter memories. Who cares about a spiffy name when no one is going to remember you anyway? What is his purpose in Sin City and why is he so interested in Temptress? Can the duo stop this man before he has a chance to create more havoc on the unsuspecting masses? Can Tank’s team trust Temptress to be there when they need her?
This whole story is hilarious. The idea of superheroes having normal issues is wonderful. It is smart and funny while maintaining a slightly serious edge to the plot. The whole thing is over-the-top in terms of action and situations; but that is what makes it so great. A great read that keeps you smiling the whole way through. I will definitely be looking out for more of Lola Dodge’s work in the future.
Notable Scene:
“Ruin!” I dodged a plasma blast, and red lightning found the shooter. “I’m going after him. Catch up!”
“Je—” he began, but I teleported before he could finish.
I stumbled into a desk, tipping a pencil jar and a stack of office supplies. The secretary at the monitor screamed. After the octaves downstairs, it was enough to make my ears bleed. I made a grab for her, but teleportation screwed with my center of balance. The swipe carried me in a circle and I tumbled to the ground. The secretary threw her stapler, and it connected with my forehead like the chick was an NFL quarterback.
My vision swirled. More superpowers than God, and I was going to get brought down by a Swingline. Was this really my life?
FTC Advisory: The author graciously provided me with a copy of Temptress. No goody bags, sponsorships, “material connections,” or bribes were exchanged for my review. The only payment received came in the form of hugs and kisses from my little boys.
A fresh and sexy take on superheroes...left me wanting more!
Lola Dodge pens a fantastic and colorful world where the superheroes are celebrities and takes us into their lives when they're not in the spotlight. They date, party and sometimes get in a little trouble that requires the assistance of the lovely Temptress. Jenny aka "Temptress" works as a freelance bounty hunter of sorts in Sin City, using her special ability of stealing a super's powers with a kiss on anyone who breaks the law.
To avoid her cover from being blown while on a mission, she accidentally steals the powers of sexy Thinktank, one of the infamous Manhattan Ten. When Temptress tries to right her wrong, she finds she cannot undo her mistake and give back what she's stolen...no matter how hard she tries. The tables of seduction are soon turned when she realizes she's stuck living with an irresistible, hunky superhero who refuses to leave her side until she returns his powers, Temptress meet temptation!
Jenny "Temptress" Ray is a fun and sassy heroine. Even with her special abilities she's just a regular girl at heart who loves to stay in, watch TV and indulge in sushi. I found myself sympathizing with the loneliness and pain her power has brought her, but admire her strength. Sure, she might use her good looks to her advantage when it comes to work, but she never comes off as the "yeah I know I'm hot" type...I loved her from the first page!
What superhero story is complete without the dashing leading man? Enter Thinktank (real name Jason). He's a powerful superhero with mind reading abilities, a leader and I dare say somewhat of a romantic! Thinktank is well aware of Temptress' reputation and while he tries his best to stay away her charm wins him over, it's great to see this sexy superhero give in to his emotions. He's the perfect alpha, protective but doesn't compromise the heroine's independence, it makes him yummier in my eyes.
The chemistry between Thinktank and Temptress is off the charts and Ms. Dodge does a phenomenal job of incorporating the romance in a subtle, but steamy delivery. Temptress also introduces the rest of the Manhattan Ten in small glimpses, I'm definitely interested in getting to know those charming personalities a little better! With a gripping plot, ongoing action and delightful characters, this is one impressive debut that will keep you turning the pages. If you need help getting out of a romance slump or want to try something new in your reading repertoire, take a chance on the Manhattan Ten!

darn i love this book! Just too bad the series is not about just thoses two peculiar heroes (well one hero and one sexy, devilish, temperamental and f***k powerful girl!). Gosh, i'm totally in love with her. (^◇^)
Kidnapping a super-powered suspected felon from a Vegas bachelor party is another day at the office for Jenny Ray, alias Temptress. With one kiss, any naughty supe’s powers are hers. Except this time she’s caught by her mark’s boss, who’s no ordinary superhero.
It’s Thinktank, leader of the toughest hero crew around. One destroyed men’s room and near-toilet-drowning later, Jenny’s forced to steal an innocent hero’s powers.
For a super brain, Tank’s feeling pretty idiotic. First, he let Jenny close enough to get to him. Second, he’s helpless against the tide of desire that rises in him every time he kisses her. Which he’s doing a lot, since she’s trying to give him back his power—only it’s not working. As he shadows her on her various freelance casino security jobs, he realizes she’s no she-demon—she’s a time bomb. Her acquired powers are shredding her, body and soul.
As they give in to desire, a shadowy figure from Jenny’s past surfaces with a kidnapping plan of his own. Jenny will do anything—even level Las Vegas—to rescue the man she loves. But there may not be anything left of her when the dust settles.
Warning: Contains high-stakes poker, high-end cocktails, and high-flying over Las Vegas skies. Never drink and fly!
My Thoughts:
I really liked this book. It had action, steam and sweetness.
When Jenny first runs into the Manhattan Ten while she's trying her best to apprehend one of them, I couldn't help but wonder how in the hell these guys were considered to be superheroes. They were a hot ass mess. Maybe it was because they were drunk as fuck at a bachelor party, but I wasn't feeling too impressed by any of them. Except for Thinktank. He was the only one not behaving like an asshole. The next thing you know, though, he's dunking Jenny in a toilet. I can't even...
Tank probably shouldn't have dunked Jenny like that because without realizing it, she takes his powers and he's out like a light. Now Jenny has to try to give him his powers back. Only they don't seem to want to go back to him. No matter how many times they try, the powers just won't leave Jenny. Tank is frustrated, but he still wants Jenny. He doesn't want to want her, but he so does. He feel protective of her, too. He takes quite good care of Jenny after she fucks her body up trying to apprehend some supers from one of the casinos. That's when Tank realizes that using all of the those stolen powers isn't such a good thing for Jenny.
It turns out the at least one of the supers from that bust is connected to Jenny's past somehow. When that all comes out, I was rather surprised. It sucks what happened to Jenny back then, but that asshole gets what he deserves. Now, she has Tank to rescue her once she was finally able to give him his powers back. I think these two will be a pretty sweet couple. Plus, there's the psychic sex.
Why are there not more books like this?! Am I blind? Have I missed them all? As soon as I read the blurb I was sold. My two favorite things in one book - superheroes and romance - uh YES PLEASE!
Dodge had me at hello, I write superhero novels *sigh* and what a novel it is. I think my only grump about this book is that it's too short. I've come to realize I'm greedy with books, if I love it I want MORE MORE MORE MORE. Temptress is no exception. Jenny is a wonderful female lead who puts the rights of others before herself - a true superhero even without the powers. But once you add in the powers she is a hero who isn't out for the glory and would much rather spend her time in front of the television in sweats (honey, wouldn't we all?). I love how she is willing to kick ass at a moments notice but isn't superior or mighty about it, she's totally down to earth. Treating superhero life like a normal job and being happy to make a difference where she can.
Enter Thinktank. Ooooooh honey. I see him as a kind of Professor X meets Wolverine. The brawn AND the brains. Hot combo because obviously women love men that can think and rip our clothes off - duh. Thinktank trips into Jenny/Temptresses life by accident and ends up following her around due to power complications. Funnily, Jenny has a reputation as a take no prisoners, more likely to kill you than hug you super. So Tanky believes himself up to be in major trouble. Yet the more time Thinktank spends with Jenny, the more he realizes that she isn't as horrible as everyone's made out and may in fact be the sweetest, kick-ass lady he's met. Their budding relationship made me so comfy and happy I wanted to curl up in a ball and purr. I love sweet romances interlaced with a couple rockin' battles and Lola Dodge delivers one of the best. I love this book so much! I only wish it could be longer so the end didn't arrive so fast. The Manhattan Ten is a series jumping onto my favorites shelf for sure!
I got a free advance readers’ copy in exchange for my honest review.
I could not wait for this book to come out. After reading the first book in the Manhattan Ten series, Ivory, I was hooked.
Temptress is about an independent superhero whose working as a bounty hunter for the police arresting criminals with superpowers. In the midst of arresting one of the M10, Steel, she is sidelined by Thinktank, Tank for short. Temptress' power is stealing other superheroes' powers with a kiss. Needless to say, she gets Tank's powers. The only way to get them back is with another kiss...
I enjoyed this book just as much as the first. The chemistry between Tank and Temptress was undeniable, and I enjoyed the comedy on the side.
This book showcased even more superheroes with quite fascinating powers. I found Chance's powers to be a nice twist. Who knew that could be a superpower?
I liked that the events of this story took place in Las Vegas. I could actually feel as if I could see the numerous slot machines and games. The excitement in the air was almost tangible.
As with the first book in this series, my only regret was how short this book was. I love how much I miss the characters of this series whenever I finish a book. I cannot wait for the other instalment to be released.
Violence: Moderate Sexual Content: Definitely a book for adults Profanity: Multiple uses of the f-word and some swearing Religious Themes: Some mention of hell Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking: Alcohol is present in a lot of this book as well as the use of painkillers
Romance + Superheroes = FREAKING AWESOME!!! I love this series! The romance is spot on and it has just enough action. And no wimpy girls! Seriously. Read this now! :)
I won't lie to you. When I started reading the first chapter about Temptress at the strip club and her getting ready to steal Steel's powers, I was thinking "Oh there is no way I'm going to read a book where the good guys fall for the villain. Come on, this series is just to cute and s3xy to do that to me." I put it down and didn't pick it back up for awhile. I'm so glad I did. NO spoilers, but she isn't the bad got you think she is. Have faith. Temptress is a feisty like pack of Super hero that packs one heck of a kiss. She has an arsenal at her disposal and she isn't afraid to use it to kick some @$$. She is used to working in the shadows and that means working alone, but that's all about to change when she steals a kiss from ThinkTank because he fights dirty when it comes to getting his powers back and her. It's the second book in this steamy, every super hero needs a strong woman type series. It's fun and flirty and it'll put a smile on your face.

This was a fun read. Novellla length story of a superhero, Temptress, who can adsorb other people's powers and uses it to help the police arrest superheros, she can give them the power back if she wants but when she encounters Thinktank, the leader of the Manhattan 10 she finds herself not able to give the power back, at least not at first. Using other people's powers causes her pain and problems but the two of them have to team up to deal with someone from her past who is accumulating power too. It was a fun light read with characters who really sparked and you could see how they were caring for each other and the build of the relationship with forced proximity causing things to move within the relationship.
“Temptress” brings the Manhattan Ten back into action with Thinktank is pitted against the oh so sexy Temptress who steals his powers with a kiss. Their chemistry explodes across the pages of this tale! Can Thinktank keep his powers and work with Temptress? Will Temptress keep her lips and their oh so hot chemistry to herself? Read this short novella and find out. I loved this read and the characters that were created. “Temptress” is the kind of story that draws you in and holds your interest to the last page.

My first time reading a super hero romance! Such a fun adventure with Jenny with her superpower that was exercised with a kiss, and Tank, the super brain and leader of the Manhattan Ten. Lots of fun intrigue as the good supers and villains battle with Jenny in the middle of each combat wielding her power for good. A bit of drama with her missing pieces of her memory that I wished was developed more. Well written and super fun storyline that I enjoyed from start to finish.

I love this series and I am simply googly eyed over these hot super heroes who call themselves the Manhattan Ten! It's the hotter than hot leader of the M-10, Thinktank, who finds an unexpected romantic adventure with the mysterious supernatural known as the Temptress. A fast paced, action packed thriller that was very entertaining! And just think, the fun is not over. Another sweet adventure with another M-10 hero is waiting in the wings! Very nice!

This was such a fun and interesting book with the super 10 and the Temptress. With her taking the powers of supers most thought she was bad but she was works for the good guys. And when a bust goes sideways she ends up taking the powers of more than her target. Tank ends up being a little but more than Temptress was looking for but everything that she never knew she wanted. Fun

4.5 Stars: Another great addition to this series. I really appreciate the darkness in these books. This books also had less steamy parts then the first which was surprising considering the plot. But there was still steam which I enjoyed. I am really liking learning more about this world and seeing the decent people in the M-10 find their people :)

Pure, fun, escapism at it's best!! I usually don't delve into the superhero genre but this book's bright purple cover caught my eye and the description piqued my interest, so I gave it a try and so glad I did. It is a fast paced, action filled read and so very fun. I will definitely look for more books by this author.
My thanks to #netgalley and publisher for letting me read a review copy.
Loved the book, the story was well written, this hole series is entertaining the characters are interesting. Thinktank and the Temptress the super powers that Thinktank had ended up going between the two just from a kiss. Can Thinktank get the powers back.

I’m a sucker for superhero themes (shows, movies, books, whatever!). This one sounded different from what I normally get my hands on in that genre so it definitely grabbed my attention. I really enjoyed the story and absolutely LOVED Jenny and Tank! I can’t wait to get the rest of the books in the series. I highly recommend. **I voluntarily read and reviewed this book
When thinking and kissing leads to a loss of power and lust you have an explosive novella. This is book two of an amazing series. Wide variety and diverse characters you can relate to.

Temptress is the second book in The Manhattan Ten Series. This fun fantasy read has great characters. Temptress and Thinktank have amazing chemistry together. The storyline is well written and entertaining.
I read the first one and it was kind of a let down. The chemistry was no better in this one either. It was okay, but i just did not connect or care for the characters at all. They were extremely boring to me.
I was super excited when Lola Dodge contacted me and asked if I would like to review her recently published novella, Temptress. Her description of the book was something along the lines of, "It's a superhero book, but you don't have to love superheroes. It's geared towards lovers of Paranormal Romance." She had me at "superhero." I was the girl in the comic book store when I was a kid. I read X-Men and Superman (and Archie) like they were going out of style. I think I even collected cards. And as an adult, some of my favorite movies are ones that are adapted from comic books. (No, I still haven't seen the new Batman yet, but hopefully soon! I do have a young son so going to the movies isn't as frequent as it used to be.)
Anyway, Temptress had me excited right from the beginning. In this world, there are tons of superheroes and they're not in hiding. People see them out in the grocery store or in the bar and they know who they are, which superhero they are. And I love how Dodge describes the things the superheroes do in a nonchalant way, as if they're common, everyday things. For example, at one point it says, "I hovered up to the ventilation panel in the ceiling and heaved it open." The word "hovered" is so subtle that I almost missed it completely. But I just love how she just states it, without any explanation as to how she was able to hover. She just hovers, period. And Dodge does this a lot throughout the book.
Also, I just kind of love this plot: Temptress is basically the only superhero still trying to maintain her secret identity, and while other superheroes think she's a villain, she's actually working for the police, as a sort of bounty hunter/supercop because she has the ability to steal other superheroes' powers with a kiss. It's like Stephanie Plum kicked up a notch, although Temptress seems to have a lot more luck with the whole bounty hunter thing than Stephanie Plum does. And I really like how, even though Temptress can steal other heroes' powers, she can't use them as well as the original hero, and they often make her very tired or injured.
I also really enjoyed the humor, especially Temptress's sarcasm. And I could totally see this book being turned into a TV show. I'd watch it for sure! And I'd love to read some more about this world and these characters, so I'd love for this to be a book series as well.
A Bit Misleading...
I do think that the title and the cover, however, are a bit misleading. Sure, the superhero's name is Temptress, and her power seems kind of like seduction because she can steal others' powers with a kiss, so she does wear seductive clothing. But I think the title and the cover put together almost make this book look like an Adult Erotica novel. This can help the book, or it can hinder it. For me, if I just saw the cover, I probably wouldn't read it, simply because I'm not a fan of Erotica. But once I read the synopsis I knew I wanted to read it because it's all about superheroes. And yes, there are some steamy scenes in Temptress, but they're not a huge percentage of the book, and it really falls more under the heading of Adult Paranormal Romance than anything else. And I'm really glad that I read the synopsis because Temptress ended up being a really great read!
Favorite Quotes...
Here are a few of my favorite quotes from Temptress:
"'I can also use it on thermometers and sometimes fish. Very glamorous.'"
"My body shook from pain, exhaustion, and the beginning of shock. I'd pay for all the powers I'd used, but the portal most of all. Good girls weren't supposed to open hell dimensions."
"Damn him for softening me up with a buffet. How could I be mad when there were blueberry waffles?"
"We weren't so much oil and vinegar as a lit match and napalm."
"More superpowers than God, and I was going to get brought down by a Swingline."
Sorry that some of those are very contextual quotes, but I just thought they were so funny, I had to add them!
My rating for Temptress by Lola Dodge: A solid 4 stars. I highly recommend it if you enjoy Paranormal Romance, especially if you love superheroes!
