What does it mean to be haunted by a ghost from the past? A ghostly encounter is about to shake the foundations of Mercy Owens’ logical life.
Cable anchor and TV journalist, Mercy Owens is in search of a reprieve from city life. An escape to a family cottage in Island Falls, Maine seems the perfect solution. Upon her arrival, Mercy notes a light emanating from an island in the middle of Pleasant Lake. Eager to reclaim her childhood adventures, she sets out in a kayak to explore. An unexpected storm and a foreboding fog conspire to strand Mercy on the island. She's grateful to be offered sanctuary by the only resident on the small strip of land, Brenna Stewart. As Mercy gets to know the island’s mysterious resident, everything she thought she understood about love, life, and herself is upended. Mercy is left wondering if she exists in reality or if she is walking in a dream.
Mercy’s time with Brenna is short-lived. She wonders if her life is somehow cursed. Determined to banish the memory of Brenna, Mercy fills her life back in the city with long days and tedious projected. She’s been largely successful. Until Abby Cashman stumbles into Mercy’s studio by accident. Time stops. Abby's presence in Mercy's life conjures memories of a haunted past, and Mercy is forced to confront her ghosts.
Life and death—are they real or only illusions? Mercy is about to learn that the most powerful force on earth endures Beyond Time.
Beyond Time is a romantic short-story with a paranormal flair by best-selling author, JA Armstrong.
What a fantastic story! The author weaves past and present together into a very unique and intriguing story. It is mysterious and romantic. I really love the author's imagination and how she always surprises readers with something new. I highly recommend this book.
‘I want you to believe that love survives more than anything—it continues through everything. Love lives even when we cease to breathe.’
Beyond Time is an amazing female/female paranormal fantasy romance that BLEW MY MIND. As someone fascinated by ‘time’ and the idea that you have some people come into your life who you gradually feel they’ve been in your life or one of your lives before..this WORKED for me. Love the idea of people finding their way back to one another-across distance, across time. Loved this. I did feel the end: literally very end-dragged just a bit..but really good novella!
Incredible story, an everlasting love from the past leaks into the present and into the future. It could be emotional and confusing, also captivating and sweet, the kind of love we always dream to find and live. This has been one of the best love stories I've read recently, one that touch your heart and soul, one that give you hope to search dreams. This is a must, I definitely recommend. Well done JA Armstrong, I enjoyed, love it, and more than everything I hope you could find your forever love, a love Beyond Time.
Can love endure past death? Are we all part of the past? Or are they are part of us? Anna and Benna, Mercy and Abby? Love renewed or just continued in another form. Mercy dreams of a love that she can't identify but longs for. Only to find Abby.
Wow just wow. This story has layers that make you over think life in general. Mercy is pulled to a vision she can't define. Abby is left feeling like something, someone is always missing in her life. The questions these two ask lie in a history neither knows fully. When fate brings them together the many stories of a life not lived unfold. I wonder how many people loved but society refused to let that exist. The over whelming joy from this is a lifetime is never enough and love always finds its home. I am not sure I believe in the past lives stuff. I am willing to embrace I know little about how the world really exists. So I can embrace we have much to learn and even more to merely accept. This story grabbed my heart in many places. A love that transcends time, beautiful.
Beyond Time (Kindle Unlimited) -- JA Armstrong (Prologue + 6 chapters + Epilogue) June 28-29, 2020
This was a relatively quick read, but it was also a profound book. It's an unusual paranormal book about a love that transcends time and place. There are several layers to this story, and the puzzle slowly comes together as the book progresses. The reader only sees Mercy's side, but the blur between dream and reality is uncanny. I think it is good that the book was written so short.
Pieces in the last chapter and (primarily the) epilogue could've been written leaner. Although it was a letter written at the turn of the 20th Century when writing tome letters was the norm.
The book was the second I have read by this author. It was different from the first but mostly well written—great sketches of characters. Good plot development. Not for everyone, though.
Not enough words can describe how beautiful this book was. I didn’t go into expecting much. But I certainly don’t regret picking this book up. A must read book that delves into the beautiful nature of Love and Happiness. Without spoiling the book, I’ll just the author wrote this book with the utmost care and love. The quotes of the characters and the descriptions of Love were absolute perfection to read. I finished this book with a sense of happiness and peace for our characters both past and present. Love really knows no bounds and is ever lasting. Please give this book a try. You might learn to appreciate a thing or two about Love. ❤️
I am a soft hearted person by nature, I read this book in one sitting. One of my favorite types of fiction is love stories with a connection to last lives through ancestry. I hope this author continues to write more books and share her talent with the many appreciative readers in this genre. I highly recommend this short but great read.
4 stars. Such a gorgeous and unique love story. I adore Armstrong’s writing style and I really need to pick up a full length novel by her soon because all of the short stories/novellas that I’ve read have been excellent. This was no exception. The idea of reincarnation was really cool and I loved the romance between Abby and Mercy. It’s lovely. The ending was beautiful and wrapped up everything so well. This was just a little over a hundred pages but packed in so much heart and emotion into it.
Wow! Okay. JA Armstrong took me there. From the Prologue to the Epilogue this story kept me reading and thinking and reading again. Beautiful, well written, suspenseful and I was surprised that the island home in Maine was a place known by Mercy and Abby. It's an engaging story that will leave the reader thoughtful. I enjoyed it.
How can one woman have so much talent , whether it's series or stand alone books this woman's books are all pure gold. This one of the best ghost love stories I have had the pleasure of reading I can't do the story justice so I shall just say
Such a terrific book, I’m always a bit nervous about ghosty books but it was nothing like I expected. It was brilliant, I want to go to the island. You are an exceptional writer, I love all your books with Whiskey Springs being my fav, but this was something else. I was there with them Thank you for being the great author you are.
This is a beautiful atmospheric story that feels very melancholy, with a swoony FF romance.
However, if I'm honest, I felt confused about the paranormal/time travel element, and which it actually was, early on so that kind of affected the overall experience for me as I was pondering that throughout.
I found myself with a lump in my throat with the emotion throughout the book. One can almost feel the longing. Even when the dialogue seem unending and in circular questioning. HEA is so dear.
J A Armstrong has written another great book. The story is good a reading it was brilliant from start the end. So far iv,'e not read one yet that was bad 5 stars and recomended
This story is amazing. The way The author made you feel what the characters were feeling is a beautiful thing. If you are someone who believes in past lives , you must read this story.
There's nothing I love more than curling up with a JA Armstrong book or three. The characters spring to life and transport me to another world, another time. I highly recommend this author!
A truly wonderful love story and short journey through time. A very worthwhile read any time of the year. If you feel sad or lonely, read this and it will lift you up.
This is a wonderful and heartwarming story. It's a very interesting way of looking at love and life. It makes me happy to know that my soulmate will be with me always.
