i go back and forth on graphic novels, as we all know, but this is among the best graphic novel adaptations i've ever read. strong art, compelling storytelling, and a firm grasp of the important stuff. i goof off a lot on this website but in truth it is great that we have this important work in a graphic novel format, so it's as accessible as it can be.

η γνωστή σε όλους, λίγο πολύ, Άννα Φρανκ! Το κόμικ ,πέρα του ότι αποδίδει πολύ πίστα σε κάποια από τα κεφάλαια του το "ημερολόγιο" παρουσιάζει κ μια πιο σφαιρική μάτια της οικογένειας Φρανκ (ξεκινάει από τον Α'ΠΠ ) αλλά και των ιστορικών γεγονότων της εποχής! Το σκίτσο ήταν επίσης πολύ ωραίο.

Ένα συγκλονιστικό βιβλίο για ένα από τα μεγαλύτερα εγκλήματα όλων των εποχών. Μια ιστορία που λίγο-πολύ τη γνωρίζουμε όλοι μέσα από το ημερολόγιο της Anne Frank, σε αυτό το κόμικ απογειώνεται. Οι αδιάφορες λεπτομέρειες από το ημερολόγιο λείπουν, ενώ έχουν προστεθεί πληροφορίες για τη ζωή των Frank πριν τη γέννηση της Anne, αλλά και για την εποχή γενικότερα. Το σχέδιο είναι τόσο εξαιρετικό, ειδικά στο δεύτερο μισό του βιβλίου, που δεν γίνεται να μη σε συγκινήσει.

We visited Amsterdam for a few days over the summer and made it a point to visit the Anne Frank House. It was one of the highlights of our entire trip and we were moved beyond words. Here’s a picture that we took while standing in line (we were lucky enough to be one of the first in line).



I had no idea that there was an Anne Frank biographical novel until we went to the bookshop. All the English copies were out of stock, so we waited till we got back home to place an order.

This book is accurate, well-organized, and chock-full of detailed information. I would highly recommend it combined with another Holocaust graphic novel, another favorite of mine, “Maus”. I honestly wish that both were required reading for all secondary-school students, although I recommend both books for all ages. Both are an absolute pleasure to read, despite the awful and horrific subject matter.

Κάποτε, μια τέτοια προσαρμογή θα ήταν για μένα «μια ακόμα προσαρμογή». Ευτυχώς αυτό ήταν κάποτε και όχι σήμερα. Αυτές οι ιστοριες δεν πρέπει απλά να ακούγονται αλλά να φωνάζονται. Σε όσα πιο πολλά μέσα και τομείς της τέχνης υπάρξουν, τόσο περισσότερο θα ακουστούν και θα υπάρχουν άτομα να τις φωνάζουν.

Όμως, θα ήθελα άλλο σχεδιαστή. Έναν με (φωτο)ρεαλιστικό σχέδιο που θα έδινε πολύ πιο άμεση πνοή στην ιστορία και κατά συνέπεια πιο άμεσο αντίκτυπο στον αναγνώστη. Αυτός ο Ερνι Κολόν σχεδίασε άψυχα και αδύναμα πρόσωπα σε μια άκρως ψυχωμένη, φορτωμένη και δυνατή ιστορία. Δεν παρέδωσε ποτέ κάτι της προκοπής αλλά άχρωμο και δυσκίνητο σχέδιο που φαίνεται ακόμα χειρότερο σε σύγκριση με την υπόθεση και την βαρύτητα της.

"Графічна біографія Анни Франк", не плутати із "Щоденником Анни Франк", який, звісно, став основою для мальопису, але геть йому не дорівнює.

Повноцінна біографія маленької людини, якій так і не дали вирости і бути щасливою. Як і мільйонам інших людей, яких примхою одного тирана прирівняли до туберкульозної палички...

"Біографія Анни Франк" розповідає історію всієї її родини - від знайомства її батьків, через спочатку щасливе життя, через наростання антисемітизму та розгул фашизму, крізь війну, страх, біль, концтабори, зруйновані життя й долі і аж до смерті її батька у серпні 1980 року. Єдиний з восьми осіб, які переховувалися у сховку, хто вижив і доніс світу щоденник Анни, пам'ять про неї.

У книзі також міститься кілька сторінок хронології подій з історії, які вмістилися у ці роки; фотокартки, копії документів та листів.

Автори мальопису Сід Джейкобсон та Ерні Колон створили надзвичайно яскраву історію надзвичайно страшного часу. До речі, обидва присвятили автори присвятили цю роботу своїм дітям, яких, як каже Сід, могла б спіткати та сама доля, що і Анну та її сестру Марґот, якби їм не пощастило народитися у ті самі часи.

Я й досі не знаю, нащо людям супергеройські комікси, коли є ось такі "соціалочкі".

І єдина моя претензія до книги - це вкрай невдало обраний формат. І я навіть згодна була б на м'яку обкладинку, але ж розмір!! Бульбашки із текстом виявилися настільки, гм, заощадливими щодо простору, що прочитати текст у деяких ставало справжнім викликом для очей.

4 з 5 ⭐️ гудрідзу саме з-за отого мурашиного тексту і стронглі рекомендед до колекції усім, хто цікавиться темою Голокосту.

I didn't expect to learn anything new, or even to be touched very deeply by this book (being that I know the subject matter so thoroughly -- having read the diary many times, and otherwise immersed myself in background material for the last 42 years). I was wrong. Somehow, the drawings of the familiar photographs renewed their emotional impact for me. Somehow, the drawings of the photographs of Nazi criminals, and the other instances of historical information and context, made it much more personal and real.

There are images that will definitely stick with me -- the two sisters, Anne & Margot, about ages 2 and 5, in their white singlets with innocent eyes gazing up at their beloved father. In the drawing, the carelessly drooping strap has been restored to Anne's shoulder. So poignant and heart-wrenching--that these adjustments and fixes may be made to images, but that the life itself was so brutally crushed out of two little girls (and countless others). The image of Anne affixing her photos of "film stars" to the wall in her tiny room, palm emphatically flat to the surface, exerting her will.

The book pointed out that the Secret Annex was barely 700 square feet in total, housing 8 people. Anne's room, shared with Mr. Dussel, and Anne's parents' room, shared with Margot, were each 6' wide. Reading those facts caused my blood to freeze -- imagine the sense of being trapped in these tiny spaces with so many others!

A very worthwhile read and I probably will need to own this book, someday.

Η ιδέα φαινομενικά απλή: η βιογραφία της Άννας Φρανκ σε κόμικ. Πιο σύντομο από το ημερολόγιό της, αλλά με περισσότερες ιστορικές πληροφορίες για το «πριν», το «μετά» και το «κατά τη διάρκεια». Το κόμικ με έκανε να αναβιώσω τα ίδια ακριβώς συναισθήματα που είχα και στα 15 μου διαβάζοντας το ημερολόγιο της: βαθιά θλίψη, θαυμασμός και συγκίνηση.

Ας ξεκινήσω από τα «τεχνικά» ζητήματα: το σχέδιο είναι όμορφο και καλαίσθητο. Η μόνη μου «ένσταση» είναι ότι σε μερικά καρέ οι εκφράσεις των προσώπων δεν ήταν ξεκάθαρες, αλλά ευτυχώς καταλάβαινα εύκολα από τα «συμφραζόμενα».

Το ημερολόγιο της Άννας Φρανκ ήταν από τα πρώτα «ενήλικα» βιβλία που διάβασα. Δεν είχε ευτυχές τέλος και αυτό το ήξερα εξ αρχής. Η ιστορία, αν και δυσάρεστη, είναι γνωστή σχεδόν σε όλους:

Η Άννα είναι µια ανέµελη παιδούλα τριών χρόνων όταν το Εθνικοσοσιαλιστικό Κόµµα κερδίζει για τα καλά έδαφος στο γερµανικό κοινοβούλιο και τεσσάρων χρόνων µόλις όταν ο Αδόλφος Χίτλερ χρίζεται καγκελάριος. Ακόµη δεν µπορεί να διαβλέψει τον νέο εφιάλτη που θα ζήσει η ίδια και εκατοµµύρια άλλοι Εβραίοι: τον εφιάλτη µιας χαµένης ζωής, µιας αξιοπρέπειας που κοµµατιάζεται και ποδοπατείται, τον ατέλειωτο τρόµο εξαιτίας της ανθρώπινης αγριότητας, που η Άννα, έφηβη ήδη κι αναγκασµένη να κρύβεται από τους ναζιστές σε ένα µυστικό καταφύγιο, περιγράφει, µέρα µε τη µέρα, στο περίφηµο ηµερολόγιο που θα την κάνει αργότερα διάσηµη, όσο και ο Shoah, ένα εξαιρετικά δυνατό πρόσωπο-σύµβολο.

Η Άννα Φρανκ ενσαρκώνει όλα τα χαρακτηριστικά της έξυπνης έφηβης που ανακαλύπτει σταδιακά τον κόσμο και προσπαθεί να τον ερμηνεύσει. Ανθρωπίστρια έως το κόκαλο, ονειρευόταν να βοηθάει ανθρώπους όταν μεγαλώσει, σε μία εποχή που η λέξη ανθρωπισμός είχε χαθεί απ’ όλα τα λεξικά, τα βιβλία και κυρίως τα μυαλά των ανθρώπων. Δε μπορώ παρά να μη θαυμάσω μία τόσο όμορφη ψυχή. Η Άννα έγινε το πρότυπό μου τότε -άλλωστε στα δεκαπέντε αναζητάς διακαώς πρότυπα- και η αφορμή για να γράψω ένα σύντομο μυθιστόρημα (ανέκδοτο, φυσικά) 200 περίπου σελίδων. Πριν την Άννα, παρ’ όλο που λάτρευα τα βιβλία, νόμιζα πως η συγγραφή εν γένει είναι κάτι που κάνουν «οι μεγάλοι», που πρέπει να το «σπουδάσεις», που θέλει «μέσα». Συνειδητοποιώντας ότι μπορώ να γράψω κι εγώ, απλώς ανοίγοντας το word (ευτυχώς δεν είχαμε ίντερνετ στο σπίτι τότε) και αφήνοντας τη φαντασία μου ελεύθερη, η ζωή μου άλλαξε προς το καλύτερο. Μετά το μυθιστόρημα, ήρθαν στιχάκια ανομοιοκατάληκτα, σύντομες ιστορίες, σκέψεις διάσπαρτες σε δύο, δέκα, εκατό σελίδες. Μια μορφή έκφρασης ηλεκτρονική, διάσπαρτη, χαμένη μέσα σε αρχεία και φακέλους. Δε μου απαγόρευε κανένας να γράφω.

Θυμάμαι να διαβάζω ξανά και ξανά την τελευταία σελίδα στο βιβλίο του ημερολογίου: η Άννα Φρανκ πέθανε σε στρατόπεδο συγκέντρωσης, άρρωστη, εξαθλιωμένη και βασανισμένη. Πέθανε λίγο πριν τελειώσουν όλα. Θα μπορούσε να  γίνει όλα όσα ονειρευόταν, θα μπορούσε να είναι ζωντανή και να πεθάνει στα βαθιά της γεράματα. Το διάβαζα και το ξαναδιάβαζα, με την ελπίδα ότι κάτι θα άλλαζε. Η ιστορία όμως είναι αμείλικτη, δε φέρνει πίσω τους νεκρούς, δεν αλλάζει τα γεγονότα και δεν κάνει σε κανέναν τη χάρη, ούτε καν σε αυτούς που την αμφισβητούν (βλέπε άτομα που πιστεύουν σε θεωρίες συνωμοσίας).

Ακριβώς επειδή η ιστορία της Άννας Φρανκ με σημάδεψε τόσο βαθιά και με έκανε να συνειδητοποιήσω τη βαρβαρότητα του πολέμου, έκτοτε δυσκολεύομαι αφάνταστα να διαβάσω βιβλία που εκτυλίσσονται στον Β’ Παγκόσμιο. Μάλιστα, πριν περίπου ένα χρόνο «κατηγορήθηκα» γιατί χαρακτήρισα το Όλο το φως που δε μπορούμε να δούμε -ένα βιβλίο που λαμβάνει χώρα στον Β’ Παγκόσμιο- «βαρύ».

Δε θα μπορούσα ποτέ να φανταστώ πώς είναι να εκδιώχνεσαι, να χάνεις το σώμα σου και την ψυχή σου βιώνοντας ανελέητους βασανισμούς και στο τέλος να πεθαίνεις χωρίς να σου έχει εξηγήσει κανένας το «γιατί». Και πράγματι, γιατί;  Επειδή ένα -εντελώς τυχαίο- μέρος της ταυτότητάς σου –η καταγωγή σου- θεωρήθηκε μιασματικό. Η Άννα Φρανκ είναι ένα πρόσωπο, αλλά αντιπροσωπεύει πολλά: τα πρόσωπα εκατοντάδων χιλιάδων ανθρώπων που έχασαν αυθαίρετα, βίαια και άδικα το δικαίωμα στη ζωή.

Κρατάω αυτό το κόμικ στη βιβλιοθήκη μου, με την ελπίδα ότι κάποια μέρα θα το διαβάσουν και τα παιδιά μου.

(in case you haven't noticed) i have a thing for graphic novels relating to world war 2.

this particular title is a mixed bag-

good:
color artwork, feast for the eyes
the additional perspective of what was happening during the war as anne wrote. she mentions some things in her diary but wasn't aware of everything (she couldn't be).
additional info about what happened to the residents of the secret annex after they were arrested

bad:
the dialogue. oh god. the authors try to summarize events and personalities by having the characters say trite ridiculous things to each other or themselves.
some of the artwork is better than others.

of course by the end i was in tears, especially reading this excerpt from otto frank's letters:

"I hope Anne's book will have an effect on the rest of your life so that, insofar as it is possible in your own circumstances, you will work for unity and peace.

This book was the graphic interpretation of Anne Frank's life in a Nazi-occupied Amsterdam. It was very insightful as it gave a complete biography of her life, her parents lives, and the continuation of her diary after she died. Having read her actual diary translated in English, I thought this book was a great way to really understand what Anne was going through. The pictures added to the emotions connected to the story as a visual representation of the strife Anne was going through. This book also gave a third-person perspective on Anne's life, so the reader was able to focus on not just her experience in the Annex, but the other seven members as well. This book kept me engaged and overall I really enjoyed it. I especially like how the authors went into detail about Anne's diary being publish, as obviously the diary wouldn't cover that. Overall I really loved this book, it was insightful and full of emotion!

This is a biography of the Frank family taken from various biographical sources, some of which I have read. It also contains a snapshot of what was happening at the time, placing the Franks' lives in context. It was chilling to read about the rise of the Nazi party and the laws they passed. We're already halfway there in the United States today which made Anne's story extra upsetting. It was hard to read about Otto and Edith refusing to send their girls to safety, knowing what was going to happen, then reading about their attempts to find a new home once again was also sad. This bio covers a lot of the same territory as Anne's diary/stories but without the frank discussion on sexuality that gets peoples' knickers in a twist with the graphic diary. (Two teen girls, one young man cooped up in a tiny space under stressful conditions. You tell me what you think they were thinking about! Especially Anne, at 14, who was already boy crazy).

Anne's maturity, thoughtfulness and growth is especially touching and saddening to read knowing she didn't reach her full potential. Anne was not the type to be content to become only a wife and mother. She had big dreams of becoming a writer and a journalist. No doubt she could have accomplished those dreams had she survived.

The best part of this book comes AFTER the hiders were captured. The illustrator doesn't hold back on life in the camps and the author tells the reader point blank what happened to everyone. It's incredibly disturbing to look at images of naked skeletal people but that's the point. It's supposed to be disturbing. Seeing vibrant Anne with her head shaved and body full scabies with her ribs showing painfully is just absolutely heartbreaking. Her death was obviously no surprise, anyone who knows who she is knows how she died, but seeing it depicted on page was so emotional. My niece wouldn't even look at the book because she knew she was going to cry. I think that's a good thing. If the reader is touched by Anne's story, they'll think about that and feel empathy for Anne and the other victims of the Holocaust and hopefully for people in similar situations today.

The illustrations were not my cup of tea. The people didn't look like their photos very much and I couldn't tell who was who all the time. The illustrations are best when they depict what happened after the arrest and also especially moving is the one of Otto with his sleeve rolled up showing his tattoo.

This book should be required reading in upper elementary and middle school grades and then teachers can follow it up with Maus in high school. Holocaust deniers should be forced to read this book as well and look at the illustrations and then be forced to see the actual photos taken during liberation.

Tal como o título nos indica, é uma biografia de Anne Frank, contada aos “quadradinhos”, mas devo dizer muito completa, pois não se foca apenas nos detalhes que já conhecemos no Diário mas dá-nos a conhecer um pouco do passado da vida dos pais, da vida em família ainda em Frankfurt, como também após terem sido descobertos no Anexo e o regresso do pai.
Um livro imperdível!

Η άνοδος του Ναζισμού και τα ρατσιστικά μέτρα που ελήφθησαν εναντίον των Εβραίων αναγκάζουν την οικογένεια Φρανκ να εξοριστεί στην Ολλανδία. Εκεί παρακολουθούμε την καθημερινότητα έτσι όπως διαμορφώνεται πριν τα σύννεφα του πολέμου τους φτάσουν. Η καθοριστική στιγμή που η οικογένεια αποφασίζει να κρυφτεί, τα 2 χρόνια εγκλεισμού και στο τέλος η ανώνυμη προδοσία ζωντανεύουν μπροστά στα μάτια μας και συνεχίζουν αυτό που δεν πρόλαβε να καταγραφτεί στο Ημερολόγιο. Η οικογένεια οδηγείται σε στρατόπεδα συγκέντρωσης όπου η μητέρα και τα δύο κορίτσια χάνουν τη ζωή τους. Η Άννα και η αδερφή της θα πεθάνουν από τύφο στο στρατόπεδο συγκέντρωσης του Bergen-Belsen λίγους μήνες πριν την απελευθέρωση. Το μόνο μέλος της οικογένειας που θα σωθεί είναι ο πατέρας. Είναι αυτός που θα εκδώσει το ημερολόγιο και μέχρι και τη 10ετία του ’80 που πέθανε είχε ως στόχο να γνωστοποιήσει το έργο της Άννας και να αναδείξει με κάθε τρόπο την μεγάλη σημασία του.
Θα αναρωτηθεί κανείς αν μπορείς με πολύχρωμα σκίτσα να μιλήσεις για ένα τόσο φρικτό γεγονός. Κάποιοι θα το θεωρούσαν προσβλητικό. Άλλωστε τα χρώματα που «ταιριάζουν» είναι το άσπρο και το μαύρο, έτσι όπως τα χρησιμοποίησε και ο Spiegelman στο «Maus». Παρόλα αυτά, όπως αναφέρει και ο πατέρας της Άννας, στόχος μέσα από το έργο της είναι η συμφιλίωση των λαών και η σημασία της διεκδίκησης των Ανθρωπίνων Δικαιωμάτων. Οι δημιουργοί του παρόντος έργου θέλησαν να ζωντανέψουν ένα κορίτσι που δεν έχασε το θάρρος & την αισιοδοξία του στη χειρότερη στιγμή της ανθρωπότητας.
Το βιβλίο αποτελεί ένα αρκετά σημαντικό εγχειρίδιο για τη διδακτική τόσο του Ολοκαυτώματος όσο και του Β’ Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου. Τα αντίστοιχα ιστορικού περιεχομένου σκίτσα, οι χάρτες και στο τέλος η επιπλέον βιβλιογραφία αποτελούν ενδεικτικό υλικό για όποιον επιθυμεί να το χρησιμοποιήσει για διδακτικούς σκοπούς.

Anne Frank is no stranger to us. We all know about how she hid with her family and four others in a secret annex in Netherlands during the infamous Holocaust, for two years. Whether or not we have actually read or loved her diary, none of us would deny that she went through a harrowing experience - just as million other Jews, victimized simply because of their faith. But in so many ways, Anne has become a symbol of that period chiefly because she was just fifteen when she died (murdered is what I like to say, even if it was disease that eventually claimed her), and also because she recorded her stay in the annex in her diary, which has already been read by millions.

That said, when I first read and loved Anne Frank's Diary two years back, the most common sentiment I heard expressed among those who didn't rate it highly was that the book felt too "immature". In other words, it read like any fifteen year old's diary - with all the typical squabbles, complaints, teenage infatuations/crushes/desires and worldly wisdoms. It seemed anticlimactic or too flat considering all the hype around it. I know many who tried to read it as any diary and eventually gave up. Most people loved it though, and what particularly struck me about the diary was that it was the manifestation of the dreams and desires of a girl (like any other girl), who never got to experience them, because of a man-made tragedy.

From that perspective, this graphic nonfiction is a really excellent accompaniment to the diary. Many have attested that when reading Anne's diary, it is really crucial to be in Anne's position - trapped for two years in an annex with just a single bathroom and not much privacy; a young girl at the cusp of those years when she is discovering herself, every single day - the age at which any girl or boy wants to experiment with a lot of things, including love and all the desires it invokes. Add another family to that annex, a family you now had to live with for two years, or rather for an unknown amount of time.

In Anne's diary, the events following their capture are chronicled in the Afterword section of the edition I read - who died and how, who survived. This book actually shows the events. Pictures can have a more powerful effect on the reader, and it did so in this case. Did you know that Anne and her sister died just weeks before rescue arrived at their camp? If she had been rescued, her diary might never have seen the light of day. But at least the world would not have missed having such a remarkable woman in its midst.

I felt that this book was really well-done. I read in an interview (whose link I can't find now) that the drawings of the characters, their attires and even the layouts of the annex strongly resemble the original characters and their hideout. Towards the end of the book when everyone is captured, they all look so different from their original selves - malnutrition, disease and fatigue eating out their muscle and body mass quickly. That's something I can never get used to - all those horrific images of the camps and their inmates. How could humans be so callous? I knew before I started, thanks to Ash, that this book is not a duplicate of Anne's diary. Instead, it covers a significant period before and after Anne starts writing her diary. That's really helpful because it puts Anne's diary in context much better than the diary itself does. Suddenly, the events seem much more harrowing, more scary, vivid and dangerous than how Anne says it. And after reading this graphic book, when I recollect some of the entries from Anne's diary, I see them in a much different light.

I've been sitting here for a while and I just don't know where to begin. This is a precious book and it is hard to put into words how important it is and how well done it is. I am thoroughly impressed. It will be a great introduction to Anne Frank for many and will hopefully lead them to want to learn more about her and the injustices that happened during WWII.

A misconception I had was that I thought it was a graphic novel of Anne Frank's diary. It isn't. It is included, but this is a biography of Anne. It starts with her parents and continues all the way until the death of her father. It showcases Anne's life pre-hiding, during hiding, in the concentration camps and as her father makes sure that her legacy lives on. And it is done with primary sources woven in including Anne' diary, letters and interviews. The book even includes photographs of Anne and her family in the back along with a timeline of the Franks and WWII.

Also throughout the biography, the authors periodically pause to give the reader a snapshot of a certain aspect of WWII that pertains to the story. It helps readers who may not have the prior knowledge of the war and Nazi power.

When I first read the DIARY, I desperately wanted to be Anne's friend. When I read it again, in Amsterdam, after only walking past the Annex, I wanted desperately to be her English teacher. She lived a full life within those confining walls, and she left a treasure for the world.

This graphic biography gives us background of the family and its place in the world, and adds enough current events for us to see the two tracks of the story which would collide.

The story is far more than just the DIARY, as it follows the families after their capture, and even gives us a suspect for the betrayal. How ironic that Peter and Anne and Margo died so close to the liberation of the camps.

We lost her, and all the potential she promised. But we have her DIARY which still inspires us all.

De graphic novel, Het Leven Van Anne Frank, werd in samenwerking met het Anne Frank Huis uitgebracht. Sid Jacobson, een Amerikaans auteur die kinderstrips maakt, en Ernie Colón, een stripverhaalkunstenaar uit Puerto Rico, verleenden hun medewerking.

Anne Frank woonde met haar ouders in Duitsland, maar toen haar vader een zaak kon opstarten in Nederland, verhuisde ze naar Amsterdam. Anne is een vrijgevochten jongedame en ze begint haar gevoelens en de gebeurtenissen op te schrijven in dagboeken. Met als droom om ooit een beroemd schrijfster te worden. Tijdens de tweede wereldoorlog komen de Duitsers dichter bij haar dagelijkse leven en daardoor moeten ze zich verbergen. Aangezien ze joods zijn en niet naar een kamp willen verstoppen ze zich in het achterhuis van de zaak van haar vader. Onder hen woonde een apothekersgezin.

Het Leven Van Anne Frank is gebaseerd op haar zelfgeschreven dagboeken, waaruit men originele verwoordingen in deze graphic novel hebben verwerkt. Hier en daar wordt wel nog wat extra informatie toegevoegd aan het verhaal. Dit in functie om de achtergrond van het conflict nog beter te kunnen duiden. Waar nodig krijg je een kaart voorgesteld om verschillende zaken duidelijker te kunnen brengen.

In het volledige boek wordt geen gebruik gemaakt van felle kleuren. Alle tekeningen zijn ingekleurd met zachte kleuren. Dit past dan ook het beste bij het verhaal. Men heeft er ook voor gekozen om bij vele tekeningen enkel de voorgrond te tekenen en kleuren, maar de achtergrond leeg te laten. Enkel het belangrijkste voor het verhaal krijgt aandacht.

De combinatie van dialoog en tekening zorgt ervoor dat men goed begrijpt wat Anne allemaal moest doorstaan. Er wordt zeker niet vergeten om haar karakter zorgvuldig te schetsen, wat haar bezig hield tijdens die verborgen periode.

In zijn huidige staat vormt dit boek een aanwinst in de reeds lange reeks van boeken uit de oorlogsperiode. Door de tekeningen wordt het ook visueel geschetst, maar door originele teksten te gebruiken uit de dagboeken komt de boodschap ook duidelijk binnen.

Esta fue una lectura muy interesante.
Personalmente, pese a que la historia me parece dura y conmovedora, nunca pude leer el Diario de Anna Frank. Lo intenté hace años y no pude pasar de la mitad del libro porque no podía con el estilo de Anna o su actitud (casi siento que voy a ser crucificada por decirlo, pero bueno, es la verdad). Sin embargo, disfrute bastante de esta biografía.
Tiene un lenguaje muy sencillo, casi infantil, pero realmente no me molesto ya que dio otros datos interesantes y un buen contexto histórico para que cualquiera, incluso alguien que no tenga mucha idea de los hechos sucedidos en la Segunda Guerra Mundial, se ubique y pueda entenderlo todo.
Creo que para alguien joven esta es una buena opción, aunque la parte del final puede resultar algo dura (llore, bastante).

Every book or story about Anne Frank manages to break my heart. Every single one. Not only that, they diminish my faith in humanity. Reading about what people had to go through changes a perspective entirely. These aren’t dates in a book, they’re men, women, and children that had to go through this. This book has given me a bigger background into what happened before and after the war. Anne Frank’s diary and the play did an amazing job at describing what went on in the annex, but I learned so much from this graphic novel. Things that I had wondered about before, as well as many things I hadn’t.
