Etta Foster grew up in Maine and has studied Conservation Biology at Boston University.
Her studies and adventurous spirit led her to meet the love of her life in Lovelock, Nevada. She currently lives there with her rancher husband and their two teen daughters. She delights in writing about women who came also a century before her to find love in the West.
She got her first idea of a story while taking care of the horses with her loving husband. He was the one to push her not only in the actual riding but in the exciting ride of writing as well.
Except writing, she enjoys making wooden handicraft artifacts with the help of her two daughters who by the way, exceed her. Right now her daughters are teaching her how to connect with her readers!
What a lovely story by a wonderful new author that I've recently found. It's a clean inspirational historical romance with some violence due to outlaws, bandits and bullies. The characters had a depth to them and lots of storylines that are woven together nicely with a cohesiveness that I wasn't expecting. There are quite a few twists and turns to the story that had me turning the pages to see what would happen next.
There are vivid descriptions of the land, the homes and businesses as well as the food and animals. I could feel the dirt, the grit, the friendships, family ties and love. I liked that this is Kent and Anna's story but includes her sister, her family and her husband's ranch that we read about in Finding Love Under the Western Sun. It flowed nicely from where we had left off.
The story is once again set in the small town of Ragford, Montana but with reminisces by Kent of the life and family he left behind in Philadelphia and by Anna and Emma of their remaining family in Kansas and what it was like growing up on their small and poor farm. There are definitely getting to know you moments as well as secrets waiting to be told since there are new lives to begin. Anna is a mail-order bride heading west to meet up with her soon to be husband, Kent who is the sheriff of Ragford. The addition of the orphans, Julia and Tommy, was just another layer to the story.
I look forward to reading whatever Ms. Foster pens next since all have been solid 4 star reads. This is her fifth book that I've read since I found her books in July.

What a wonderful read this one was. Yet again the author has done such an amazing job with the characters and plot. Well written and engaging plot and story line that grips you from the start. Wonderful well fleshed out characters that are believeable and a joy to read about. Lots of action and drama throughout that reveals secrets about our characters. Does love find it's way with our couple? Read to find out today. Recommend reading highly.
This is a story that will capture your heart. Anna answered an ad for a mail order bride to avoid marriage to a banker who was older. Instead of taking a train, she decided to take a stagecoach and give the difference to her parents to help them. After at least a week of traveling, bandits attacked the stagecoach flipping it on it's side. The other passenger was killed and Anna knocked unconscious. As she came to, she didn't move letting the robbers think she was dead too.
Kent and his deputy were enroute to meet the stage when he saw the accident and then the robbers fled to the mountains to escape. So Kent rescued Anna taking her to the town doctor to have her checked out not realizing he was caring for his future bride.
The story progresses and they get married. Kent formulates a plan to catch the robbers in action which worries Anna. Will he catch them safely? What secret from the stagecoach accident is Anna keeping from Kent? Kent runs into a young boy in the forest; where did he come from? Agnes, owner of the general store along with her husband, reports being robbed and she's sure it's Indians. What's that all about?
Many questions to be answered. I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.
ONE CHART TOPPING TREAT!!! Magnificent! Etta jumps right over gold and hits platinum, drilling through mayhem, shenanigans and chaos that fuses this jewel together one jagged piece at a time. Mastering the ups and downs, weaving a cocoon so intricately and tight, drawing you deeper into this tangled web until everything else ceases to exist. A barrage of daunting circumstances and a bevy of inadvertent contingencies propel those conflicting emotions to life smoothly. Show stopping action, drama, robbery, hidden secrets, intrigue, mystery, danger and suspense spirals keeping you riveted on a razors edge. Add turmoil and distress along with perplexing situations that propels this bad boy into a tailspin with staggering results. Jumping hoops, hurdling trials and tribulations that tests our characters in ways they never saw coming. The chemistry builds as each layer is peeled back exposing a growing bond and amplifying affections that catapult this jewel to a whole new level. The characters are authentic and realistic with on point personalities and depth that blew this baby wide open and exposed in all it's glory. The scenes are so colorfully described it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Etta, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
My review today is on the Historical Western Romance, Mail Order Bride for his Montana Heart. I really enjoy Etta's books, I am one of her fans. This one is an excellent example of her work. I was thrilled when I got it in the mail. This book is well written, full of heart warming situations, and some intrigue. I know you are going to love it.

This is Anna and Kent's story. Anna is Emma's sister we met in "Finding Love Under The Western Sun". Kent is Logan's best friend (Emma's husband), and they get him to start writing Anna. After several months he asks Anna to marry him and she accepts. She chooses to travel by stagecoach so she can give the left over money to her parents. He takes them home to Anna. When he discovers Anna has been keeping a secret from him, he realizes he doesn't really know his the woman he married. Will Kent be able to overcome his past to save the residents of Ragford, including Julia? This is a wonderful book. It was good to be able to catch up on what was happening with Emma and Logan. If you love clean and wholesome western historical romance, you must read read this book. It is a stand alone, with no cliffhangers.
Anna Stephens is on her way to Ragford Wyoming to be a mail order bride to Kent Wilcox who is the town sheriff and a good friend to her sister Emma and Logan, her sister's husband. The stage she is on is attacked by outlaws and the driver and other passenger are killed. The sheriff comes to try to stop the outlaws but they got away and Anna has a head and ankle injury. They had planned to marry as soon as she got to town but waited for Anna to get better from her injuries. While waiting for Anna to heal, Kent decides to to catch the outlaws. Will he catch them? Does he get hurt? What about their wedding? There is a lot of action, prejudice, accusations, dishonesty and love as the townspeople struggle with the hardships of every day life in the wild west. This was a very good storyline and I recommend it to everyone who likes westerns. I gave it 5 stars.
Anna's traveled west to meet and marry Kent, the sheriff of a small town. Anna is following the path of her sister Emma, who left their Kansas farm for a mail-order marriage in Ragford, Montana. Although Anna and Kent have never met each of them are ready to have a life together and both are secretly hoping that eventually, the marriage will result in love. The wedding is supposed to take place as soon as she arrives in Ragford, but when bandits attack the stagecoach, the wedding is delayed. Matters become more complicated when two orphans are brought to town.
This is a sweet romance but the dialogue is a little stilted at times. It's a good storyline with lovable characters and I enjoyed reading it. Etta Foster writes lovely western romances and I can always count on her for an enjoyable afternoon of reading.
This was a great book. The story of heartache, love and violence all rolled into one. The stage coach attack and the death of the driver and a passenger and the other passenger injured. The outlaws tried to rob the stage only to meet with gun fire from the Sheriff and his deputies. They took of leaving behind a bag of gold that Anna would hide only to forget about it and then when found have a hard time explaining how she had it and said nothing. The fact that the Sheriff and his new bride ended up with 2 children who had no family and then they have other problems only to discover that they had to learn to trust each other and they would be ok. This was a Free read and very interesting . This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill
I love mail order bride stories. Women in those days had very few options. The chances of a successful match were good in times when men were manly men, capable of many talents. Women were raised to cook well, clean well, keep satisfactory homes and bear children for their husbands. No porn in these clean stories. "Being in the family way" was as close as they got to discussing pregnancy. No blasphemy either. People were God-fearing. Two strangers met, came to an agreement and kept their marriage vows. Women ran from their parent's homes to avoid being force to marry men far older than themselves. Girls were denied an education and frequently could not read or write. A good husband was just what they needed to survive, to obtain status and to be provided for. A really romantic marriage to a complete stranger was delightful.
I loved this story of the two main characters that were different from childhood to meeting. Anna was from a living but very poor family and Kent came from a wealthy eastern family who left it all to become a Sheriff of a small town out west. Anna’s sister had moved to Montana as a mail order bride and was very happy, Anna’s sister Emma and her husband encouraged Kent to write Anna and he eventually asked her to marry him. She accepted and the stagecoach was robbed and she was hurt just before his town. They eventually married but each had a secret. His was his background and hers was hiding a bag of gold in their house she picked up from the stage Robert. They found two children who needed a home, there was a horrible troublemaker in the town and the excitement began. A must read for total enjoyment.
I received an ARC of this book from the author, Etta Foster, and this is my voluntary and honest review. I loved this book that was exciting from beginning to end including the extended epilogue. Anna left Kansas by stagecoach to marry Kent who was the sheriff of a small town in Montana. They had been introduced by Emma, Anna ' s sister, who lived in the same town as the sheriff. Shortly after the wedding, an orphaned sister and brother were rescued by Kent and Anna and became part of their family. There were some anxious moments while they all learned to cope with each other but love won. I highly recommend this book if you enjoy a good clean romance.
This is a fabulous mail order bride story set in the beautiful Montana countryside. Kent is the sheriff in this Montana town. Anna is his mail order bride. Kent is busy trying to capture outlaws, keep his town safe, getting to know his bride, and calming ornery shop keepers. Anna is excited to come west and marry her sheriff, be with her sister Emma and her husband Logan, and explore the beautiful mountain area. Can Anna and Kent find true love with each other? When two orphans are found what will happen to them? Can they weather life's challenges? Find out in this beautiful book! I highly recommend this book. Happy Reading!
Great book .Can't wait to read more Emma married a Rancher Logan from Montana then they talked the Sheriff Kent who is Logan's friend into writing Emma's sister Anna into writing each other. Anna comes to Montana to marry Kent. Oh but the troubles they have. We can't forget the 2 orphaned children that they take in. Can they find love as a couple and a family. Please get the book and read it for yourself. It is wonderful. I receive complimentary books for review from publishers, publicists, and/or authors. I am not required to write positive reviews. Forgiveness comes with love, and Anna was sure that her sheriff husband would never forgive her for keeping the money she found. The funny part is he never told her he covered up the fact of her finding the money when he returned the money to the bank. Finding and keeping two orphan children also put a lot of stress on their new marriage. Watching these two work through the problems of strangers coming together as a mail order bride brought a smile to my heart. These two both hoped for love in the marriage, but feel they will never find it with all the mistakes that they are making. Story is well written and the characters are lovable and compelling.
I really loved this book. It’s about Sheriff Kent and his mail order bride Anna! The previous book was about Anna’s sister. It was good to see the sisters reunited! His book had plenty of action as Anna’s stagecoach was robbed and the sheriff went off to capture the bandits. The drama was when the sheriff found two orphans living in a shack and brought them back to his new bride! I really liked the interactions between the immediate family and the extended family! I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in this series!
A nice, clean, sweet read about forgiveness and redemption. Action packed at times and slow in other parts. Very heart wrenching reading about the stagecoach robbery, however I was nervous about Anna’s actions. I was hoping little Tommy and his sister would find their way into Anna’s and Kent’s hearts. Kent’s actions made for very tense moments. I’m glad that Kent and Anna were able to work out their, at times, tense relationship and especially their feelings toward the two children. A very satisfying HEA. I can easily recommend reading this western mail order bride story.
An intriguing story, that pulls you in and keeps you reading! Kent Wilcox is Sherriff of Ragford, Montana, and is awaiting the arrival of his mail order bride. Anna Stephens is heading to Ragford, by stagecoach, to save money. Their wedding is arranged, immediately upon her arrival to town, and it isn’t long before their secrets begin to surface. A lot happens from the beginning to the end of the book, and it is amazing how things work out! A very good book, and I am sure you will be glad you read it!
Anna has a couple reasons to become a mail order bride. 1 her sister did it and she has a wonderful marriage. 2. the much older banker in town wants to court her but he only wants a mom for his kids since his wife died. Kent sends for Anna. Her sister has married his friend and they have a good marriage. But life is crazy for the new couple and in between all the challenges, they both regretfully don't tell each other things that they should have. This is a well told story of misunderstanding and the courage to tell the truth.
I thought this story was heartwarming, heartfelt and wonderful read. I enjoyed the characters Kent and Anna. This story kept my interest throughout the story. It is well written and has a good storyline. It has a bit if everything in this story drama, suspence, trails and tribulations. I read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.
I enjoyed this story about a mail-order bride romance even though it became more focused on orphan siblings that became part of their family very early in their marriage. Many great principles of living in ways that honor God made the story dear to me. Great guidance, forgiveness, and making restitution were woven beautifully throughout the story. It was very nice.
This book reminded me of Jeanette Oke!? That is about the highest honor I can give to a book of this genre. Anna’s sister Emma moved west, as a mail order bride. Now, she wants Anna to move west to marry Kent, the sheriff of their small town. When tragedy strikes their hometown and Anna’s husband, Kent, feels betrayed; will he find it in his heart to hear her words of wisdom? Can they ever move forward in their relationship? You will enjoy this tale of family and reconciliation.
A sweet story of Kent and Anna. Anna nearly didn't make it to Kent when the stage coach was robbed. When they finally got married, within weeks their life took another huge turn. It seemed they were destined to have their ups and downs with some very scary times included but can they get things squared away and move forward with their lives?
Exciting journey of Anna to meet her future husband. Outlaws attack the stagecoach she is on and she is injured. She wakes up to man she is there to marry standing over her trying to assess how badly she is hurt. She doesn’t get to tell him who she is until She wakes up again. Very entertaining read about their marriage and some things that happen along the way.
Enjoyable story, could not put it down till finish. Every chapter keeps your interest. Starts out when a mail order bride heads to Montana by stagecoach and there is a Robert. Her sister had introduce her intended by them corresponding. The sheriff is who she intends to marry. This is an action filled story and fast moving. Highly recommend this wholesome book to anyone who likes mail order brides stories.
This was a great mail order bride story. Kent was the sheriff in this small town. His friend Logan married a girl through this mail order brides . Logan talked Kent into writing to Anna, his new wife’s sister. Well, it only gets better and more complicated. Very interesting, you will enjoy this
This was a very well written book by Etta Foster and I really enjoyed reading it. A young woman, a sheriff, marriage, finding a young boy and his sister, a family, a little girl severely ill, severe epidemic, shots that cost a fortune, will the live or die?? If any of this intrigued you buy the book and enjoy reading it to find out what happens. Enjoy
A fine story with many interesting twists. Anna is a real pioneer woman, taking everything that life trows at her in her stride. Kent is a rare man with a high sense of integrity and a deep seated wish to improve the lives of others. The background of the story is very realistic. My only complaint is that the writing style did not contribute to a fluent reading.
Etta's books never disappoint. Though, she is new in her writing career, she has always had a flair for storytelling. Anna and Kent have lots to learn about love, honesty, and forgiveness but they do learn in Etta's storyline. I would gladly recommend all of her books including this one to anyone interested in a good read.
Anna is writhing to Kent, a sheriff in Montana. She has been forced into an engagement with a baker that she does not want to marry. After several months Kent asks her to marry him. She leaves for Montana and the marry soon after she arrives. You have to read this great book to find out happens next.
