Covert Threat is the fifth book in the Gray Ghosts series by Amy McKinley- and what a gripping instalment this has been. Sometimes in a series, by the fifth book things are getting a bit stale and starting to peter out as the momentum is slowing down, and the story is much the same as the previous book- BUT this is definitely NOT the case here. This series just seems to get better and better the further into it we get. This book is just as gripping, if not more than the other four books in the series. And that can be attributed to Ms. McKinley’s keen imagination and writing skills.
While this could be read as a standalone, I really recommend reading the rest of the series too- in order to get all the backstories for the recurring characters, background information, and other important details- which will really enhance your reading experience of this book. Not to mention the other books are superb stories in their own rights! You really can’t go wrong with Ms. McKinley!
This story has so much going on in it- right from the beginning I was drawn into the action, completely under Ms. McKinley’s spell. Jules and Trev had me following along right beside them as everything unfolded, captivated by this romantic suspense. As expected the story has plenty of action, drama, violence, suspense, mystery, twists, intrigue, danger, gripping details, and emotion. As with the rest of the series, I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through, devouring the pages to discover what was happening, and loving every minute.
Bring on Book Six!!!!

Thank you, Ms. McKinley!

Covert Threat by Amy McKinley a thrilling five-star read. This is number five in the Grey Ghost series and it could be read as stand-alone but honestly, I have read it as a series and loved it as such. This series has just ramped the drama and action up notch by notch. I love that Jules Moretti is such a good character, she is more than just the female lead, she is brains beyond belief and I was reading this one with all the news about an outbreak of a new flu and I was wishing that Jules was real, I am sure there are many people like her, but Jules just had a little extra something. This was a great compliment for the series and number six can’t come soon enough.

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 5) by Amy McKinley is a wicked tale of cat and mouse, life and death and twisty. Amy has done an excellent job of keeping us on the edge of the seat trying to work out what is happening and what is supposed to be an easy job turns into something much more deadly. Is she going insane or is there something much more sinister going on? I love the Gray Ghosts, I mean who doesn’t love a SEAL? And Amy writes a SEAL so, so well.

Jules isn’t sure if she is going insane. With everything going on she doesn’t know who to trust but when her big bad bodyguard is assigned to her she hopes like h*ll that he can keep her safe but that’s not all she hopes.

As the threats escalate Trev does everything he can to keep her safe but she is a hard one to keep out of trouble. Not only that but something is off, something that none of them saw coming.

Amy has given us another excellent book in the series.

Covert Threat is the fifth book in the series Gray Ghost Novels by Amy McKinley. Ms. McKinley is an amazing author who brings her story to life. Her characters in her story are amazing and keep you engaged throughout the entire story. This story has some romance in with the action/mystery all rolled into one book. One reason I enjoy McKinley, as a reader I want to be apart of the story and not on the side lines. This story is about Trev, a former Navy Seal, and Jules a workaholic who needs some protection. Trev is assigned to protect Jules because of threats made against her. Will Trev be able to protect Jules? Will Trev and Jules end up being a couple? Only reading this story will you find out about these details. .

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 5)
By Amy McKinley. Once again the author pulled me right in. I’ll be completely honest I think this one may have been my favorite of the series but hey don’t tell the others. Once again the characters had me sinking right into their story and I didn’t want to leave. It’s packed with suspense and romance, with characters that you can connect with and they have a chemistry that comes off the pages in waves. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. A book I’ll be adding to my read again list for sure. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

McKinley continues to enthrall her readers with the latest in the series. This may have been my favorite to date! Romance and suspense in a fantastic combination. I love McKinley’s writing style and the attention given to all of her characters. The main characters are relatable and very thorough. They get like people I truly knew when I walked away from the book. I was kept guessing and literally found myself holding my breath a few times in anticipation of what might unfold next. Excellent read - pick it up today!

I knew as soon as I received this novel I wouldn't be disappointed and boy was I right! It's all to do with how amazing Amy writes she has such a way with words that it isn't just engrossing but it is also full of emotion you cant help but feel yourself right there along side them in the novel. I have a weakness for a romance with suspense it just add an extra punch to the storyline having all that mystery such a hook filled story! I honestly cant wait to read more from her I loved every second!

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 5)
By: Amy McKinley
5 out of 5 stars

The story Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 5) by Amy McKinley is a romantic suspense book. It pulls you in from the very beginning and doesn’t let you go until the final page. The story has mystery, danger, and romance. I loved reading about the characters of Jules Moretti and Trev Shaw. Jules is a woman who is intelligent, strong, independent, and can be stubborn. She works at an elite research facility and has recently had strange occurrences happen to her. That is when Trev is called in to assist. Trev is working as Jules's bodyguard. He finds that he can’t stop thinking about her and that his heart is starting to fall for her. There is an unknown threat to Jules, and he needs to keep his mind clear to keep her safe. Will he be able to uncover the threat to Jules? Is there a future for Jules and Trev? Read this book to find out. This story had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. As each new situation happens, I found myself wondering what could be happening. I grew to care about Trev and Jules with each chapter that I read, and I was rooting that the threat would be uncovered and also that they would find happiness. I enjoyed that some of the secondary characters have been brought forward from the other books in the series. Don’t miss out on a book that has twists and turns that will keep you guessing. I highly recommend reading it.

Jules is a specialist who is dedicated to her work and is pretty much a workaholic. She’s had a lot of rocky moments over the years, and the rockiest being the recent passing of her mother. She has been no stranger to loss over the years and because of it, she keeps to herself and works hard to keep balance in her life. Her love of science has fueled her compassion to doing the right thing and helping wherever she can. For her, coming up with various healing antidotes, vaccines, and even new ways to fight biowarfare is everything. But when someone decides to knock her around and trigger memories she’s hidden, her world rocks again.

Trev is a military man who loves his career choice. He is dedicated to helping others, protecting them and fighting the good fight in every way he can. After all, once a Seal, always a Seal. For him, being apart of the Grey Ghost team means being with his family. The men and women he works with sharing the same values, protect at all costs. He’s always been the go-to guy for laughter, faithfulness, and loyalty. He learned the hard way that sometimes you have to open up and let others in. For him, being a chameleon of sorts, coming up with various ways to figure a situation out is everything. When he’s asked to take a special assignment, he didn’t expect it to be hers.

Together they have to figure out who wants to disrupt Jules’ life, hunt down a suspect in a possible terrorist scenario, play dodge and weave to figure out who really has it out to destroy many lives and finally, figure out where their attraction is headed. In the end, the twists are quick, the steam palpable and the mystery seems to never stop! I can surely say I had my suspicions on a few of the twists but when it all ended, it was like, holy cow! It was such a good mix of intrigue, intelligence, sexy hot moments and thrilling suspense. This was such a good book for me, I ended up binge-reading it and putting off sleep. I loved Jules and Trev!

Covert Threat is book 5 In The series. I have not read all the books in the series but, I believe you do not have to in order to know what is going on.
This book was great. I found myself staying awake later at night because I didn’t want to put the book down.
Covert Threat was filled with action, suspense and confusion. As a reader I can honestly say the author had me hooked from the very beginning. Who doesn’t love a good book with a hot former navy seal?
Jules is one of the top scientist working on an antidote known to be able to save lives. Everything is going well until
One morning she finds an odd message on her computer at work. She always shuts her computer down when she leaves for the night and no one can get into her office building without proper ID.
When things start happening her boos hires Trev to be With Jules to and from work every day. People start getting injured and possibly even killed and they are framing Jules for it all.
Jules has an old cookbook from her mom that has a letter inside from her mother. Her mom told her to only open the letter if she feels threatened because it is like opening Pandora’s Box. Jules doesn’t know if she should open the letter or leave it where it is.
Jules doesn’t have a lot of memory from her younger years. Her family was in a boating accident where her dad and sister were killed. Luckily Jules and her mom were saved but doe to that accident, Jules doesn’t really remember anything. She’s not sure what they letter holds.
When she finds out who is behind the mysterious things happening, she starts to remember certain things from her childhood. Things are a lot more serious then she thinks. This book was a great read!

Covert Threat is the fifth book in Amy McKinley’s exciting Gray Ghost series. Like the others, it can be read as a standalone but features characters and references events from the previous books.
The Gray Ghost team specialise in difficult missions. They can keep people safe or get them out of tricky situations. The core of the team is former military, and they put their training to good use in dangerous situations. The books are packed with action and tension.
Jules, the protagonist of Covert Threat, realises that she is in trouble when she starts noticing small things out of place. A drawer she doesn’t remember opening. A change to the screensaver on her computer. As things build up, and Jules realises she’s not just imagining it, Trev steps in to protect her and help get to the bottom of things.
I particularly like Jules as a character. Her interest in food and cooking means that McKinley applied her generous attention to detail to descriptions of delicious, nostalgic food (I’m hungry just reading it!). Also, her work as an epidemiologist is really cool and I learnt a lot from reading about it.
For me, this is a five star book. I’d recommend the series to fans of action who like a book with a complex story and characters that you get to know over time. Although you can jump in here, reading the stories in order gives you a chance to meet the characters properly and see their stories unfold (and you’re going to want to read them all eventually!).

Covert Threat is the 5th book in the Gray Ghost series by Amy McKinley. It can be read as a stand alone, but I recommend reading the whole series, as all have been wonderful. The characters only slightly overlapped, and enough details were given that you wouldn't feel like you were missing half the story. I have loved them all so far, and this book did not disappoint. The characters are great, and I loved that the female lead wasn't a total push over, but was a strong, brilliant woman. I liked how their relationship developed slowly and you could feel their connection. It was a perfect mix of action, romance and mystery, with the full picture only being revealed at the end. The pieces gradually fell into place. This story follows Trev and Jules, as they work together to solve a mystery. Jules is being threatened by an unknown, and Trev is hired by her boss to find out who is the threat and to keep Jules safe. She is a genius scientist and her research and developments are vital to her organization. While Trev is being paid to protect her, soon they develop feelings for each other and he wants to keep her safe, even without the money. I don't want to spoil any surprises, so just read the book!

A great read about science and danger. Jules is a research scientist working on some military type drug with her company. But when strange things start to happen and a boat race goes wrong, she realises science is more dangerous than she expected. To protect her, she enlits the help of bodyguard Trev Shaw. Together, they try to work out what is going on as events unravel. Can they find out who is behind it all before it's too late?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Jules standing up for herself but with her fears underneath or Trev as assertive but kind underneath
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the storm at the beginning with its sights and sounds so vivid its as if you're actually there.
I also liked the use of suspense with small details revealed slowly to make you keep reading to find out what happened and whos begin it all. The first person narrative worked well to display Jules thoughts and feelings throughout the novel. The only issue I would raise is that sometimes the scientific terms used were hard to understand what they meant and may cause confusion for some readers. Overall, a great read and I would give it four stars.

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel Book 5) by Amy McKinley
4 of 5 Stars
Covert Threat is book 5 in Amy McKinley’s ‘Gray Ghost’ novels featuring members of the Gray Ghost Team. Workaholic Infectious Disease specialist Jules Moretti works at an elite research facility and following a security breach which puts Jules at risk, former Navy SEAL Trev Shaw is assigned to keep her safe. As Jules continues to work on top secret research projects she starts to have strange ‘mishaps’ and as her safety is put more and more at risk Trev must keep her safe. After a boating incident the two discover that there is more to one another than they initially thought and sparks begin to fly. What began as a simple assignment for Trev turns more dangerous as he falls in love with Jules and wants to discover who the culprit is and whether the danger is personal, or merely a smokescreen for biowarfare.
This is an action packed thriller, mystery and romance. The storyline is fast paced which kept me hooked from page one. I loved the main characters and how Jules and Trev’s relationship developed. The novel can be read as a standalone book, however characters from the previous books are mentioned, and having read and enjoyed this book I am now keen to read the rest of the series.

I received a copy of this book from Goodreads in exchange for a review.
I’ve jumped into the middle of the series instead of starting from the beginning. That being said, I had no troubles figuring out the characters and the overall plot line. This story line was ‘goose-bumpy’ in that the main character, scientist Jules Moretti’s life is in peril. She is also experiencing a series of explainable things happening to her: notes on the bathroom mirror, misplacing things, and conversations that never happened. So when former Navy SEAL Trev Shaw is assigned as her protection detail until her company feels she is safe, there are suddenly two smart, head-strong, and capable people butting heads until they find a way to work side-by-side. And sparks will fly, both in temper and in bed. But the menace is getting ever closer, and it won’t be denied. But can Trev figure out what is going on and who is behind it before Jules dies?
This is the kind of book I have no trouble sitting down and finishing in one go. It captured and held my interest, there were unexpected twists and turns that kept the story line fresh, and the characters were brought to life as the story slowly moves toward a most satisfying conclusion.

Jules works in infectious disease and when strange things start happening around her she goes to her boss about it. He is concerned enough to hire her protection. Trev is the one hired to watch out for her in case the threat is real. Jules doesn't understand why any of this is happening and its driving her crazy. When a friend and co-worker dies it hits closer to home again that there is someone out to get her. As Trev and the team search to find answers they are floored by Jules's missing memories from childhood and wonder if maybe she is responsible. Trev doesn't agree with them and watches over her closer. Jules has had a letter from her mother that she was supposed to open if things got weird for her. When she finally reads it with Trev everything comes rushing back and a lot of secrets are revealed. Can the figure out who the threat is? Will Trev stick with Jules even after everything is done?

This is a great story that will have you on the edge of your seat. The chemistry between them is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Covert Threat is book 5 in the Gray Ghost Series by Amy McKinley. I have read books 1-4 and the prequel and have absolutely loved this series so far and couldn’t wait for Trev to get his own book. I was so looking forward to reading his story and seeing him succumb to a woman’s charms.
Amy McKinley sure knows how to write a suspenseful, romantic thriller. As with all books in this series I was gripped by this story and did not want to put it down. In fact I stayed up until about 4am to finish it as there was no way I was putting this book down.
In Covert Threat Trev Shaw is hired to shadow biochemist, infectious disease specialist Dr Jules Moretti when she comes under threat whilst working on a top-secret project. The pair met previously and Jules was convinced he was a player so wasn’t interested in him. However, as her life becomes more at risk and more strange things happen to her, she spends more time with him and becomes to know the real Trev she then realises that she misjudged him.
I really loved this book. The romance is hot and steamy and the suspense and tension built up by the author is fantastic. Just when you think you might have an idea of what’s going on, then BAM, McKinley throws you a massive curveball.
I would 100% recommend this book to anyone who likes a romantic thriller. In fact, I would recommend this whole series. The Gray Ghost guys are an amazing bunch and I loved getting to see them again in this book. I hope that Amy McKinley will continue with this series and give the rest of the guys a HEA too.

Covert Threat is the 5th book of The Gray Ghost series. This book features scientist Jules Moretti and ex Seal now security specialist Trevor. When her boss hires
Amy McKinley
his company to protect their lead scientist, he thinks this will be an easy job- but things keep happening to Jules with no explanation. Now Tre is convinced more is going on – Is it a threat against Jules research or is it something personal? Read the book and find out! You will be surprised.
I am new to this series but enjoyed this book with all its twist, turns and amazing characters. My favorite character is Jules who was strong, brainy (Pinky and the Brain) but was in touch with her family roots and tradition. Those family traditions are in the form of her Mom’s cookbook. That cookbook and its secrets will open s up a Pandora Box of problems that Tre was not expecting. Nothing that Tre an ex Seal (leading man) can’t handle – even if it has made everything more complicated to protect Jules. This new development leads to an exciting conclusion and Tre and Jules happy ending. Looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

Covert Threat is an intriguing, action packed, romantic suspense story that hooked me from the very first page! Amy McKinley never disappoints! If I see this author’s name, I know I’m going to love the book!

Jules is a scientist who is dedicated to her job. A serious workaholic. Her life consists of work, sleep, repeat, with an occasional outing for a drink with her friend Fran. One day she gets a strange message on her computer along with all sorts of other strange things happening around her.

Trev is a former Navy Seal who is hired to be Jules’ bodyguard. He’s gorgeous, built, smart, funny, and knows how he affects the opposite sex. Which is why he’s shocked that Jules seems to be able to resist his charms! Soon, they find out that Jules is in more trouble than first appeared. Can Trev figure out what’s going on and keep Jules safe all while trying to get her to see him as more than just a bodyguard?

This is book five in the Gray Ghost series but it can be read as a standalone. It contains a little bit of everything and will have your emotions all over the place! I highly recommend this story and all of Amy’s books! 5 stars!

I have been patiently waiting for Trev’s story. This book grabbed you from page one, and it never let go of you. This series has continued to get better and better and the authors writing has come so far from book one. I found that this particular book had so much immense action in it, and adventure that I felt as if I was on a roller coaster. The twists and turns will keep you captivated, in awe, and wondering what is right around the bend. Jules, it’s a beautiful, complex, wonderful character, and watching the interaction between her and Trev play out had my head spinning. While, I was able to figure out the main mystery, it did not take away from the story at all, and made it that much more exciting. If you are looking for a high octane story that has love, mystery, suspense, secrets, and so much more, this is definitely a book you would want to pick up. This book can easily be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the series from the beginning so that you get to know each of the individual main characters it helps tremendously with the amount of connection you continue to feel from book after book.

This book is about Jules, a biochemist who is developing a genetic form of protection against many infectious diseases. An unknown stalker leaves strange and threatening messages which then escalate to lethal attacks. Trev is the security person from the Gray Ghost team who starts to protect her from these threats. A big mystery for readers to discover is what is in the letter Jules' mom left her before she died but told Jules not to read it until strange circumstances required it! This unfortunately did not happen until about 3/4 of the book was finished, which left readers in great suspense. When Jules finally reads the letter, there is an incredibly shocking surprise which explains the mysterious events which have been occurring. It was something I never expected, and I'm sure readers who were not able to expect it either, will enjoy the suspense the book brought into their reading lives. I highly recommend this book!

I have read a few books from this author and I absolutely love her. My favorite genre is military romance and she always exceeds all my expectations. This is the fifth book in the Gray Ghost series. You can read this as a stand-alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited when I got this book. I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not put this book down. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story.

Jules Moretti is a specialist in infectious diseases. She loves her job. Jules is working on a top secret project. She knows what she is doing but something happens to her that makes her need a bodyguard. Jules thinks she knows all about the type of man that Trevor is but she quickly finds out she is dead wrong. She feels an amazing chemistry between her and the hunky bodyguard. Jules doesn’t know but she is getting herself into danger that she can’t even see. Will Trevor be able to save her in time or will the danger take over?

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 5) by Amy McKinley

5-Stars

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 5) by Amy McKinley is an excellent, fast paced, action filled, romance. It has an excellent storyline and plot. The climax was amazing and I love how the author wrapped it up. Jules and Trev are the main characters of this novel. Jules story was shocking and tragic when it was revealed later in the book. I was in tears after finding out how and why she lost her memory following a boating accident at a young age. Jules was amazing and I loved how smart she was. The things she had accomplished with her career were inspiring. Trev was also an inspirational character as well. I love that he taught self-defense classes for women in honor of his mother. Despite his tragic and painful youth, he grew into a strong, educated, and fun protector. I loved this book and I highly recommend it.
