Imagine the Fantastic Four as an Urban Fantasy instead of a superhero comic, and you pretty much get The Family Graves. It is a lighthearted story, a bit silly/funny, but that kind of takes away from the seriousness of the story the writers are trying to tell about a psychic vampire destroying whole realities. There is not a proper balance between the serious and the silly.
This book is probably more suited toward a slightly younger audience.
The art is ok, not bad but nothing special.

This story has a lot of fun playing around with some solid comic book tropes: monsters, superheroes, mad scientists, teen angst, family secrets, and crazy technology. It's not just a re-skinning of old stock characters; there's something fondly ordinary about the whole family. It's the kind of story that you can read through in an evening, then when something makes you think of it a month or two later, you can look back and go, "Ah, yeah. That was a good moment."

Tim and Brian do an excellent job of balancing the dangers of their supernatural predicaments with the true love a family has for one another. I can’t wait for more and I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone who’s a fan of the supernatural, or if you’re looking to get your kids into an awesome comic.

The Family Graves is incredibly fun. It’s got wit and camp and good family vibes, as well as sleek art. Overall, very entertaining writing!
