The Last Mystic was a great ending to this series. I struggled a bit to get into it at first, but it's one of those books that only get better the further you get. I thought it was a very satisfying conclusion to the series, although I am left with a bunch of questions about the new situation that arises and how exactly it works and more. That's mostly because it's such a big thing that happens. It had some great twists and turns and I like how everything got resolved.

The Last Mystic starts off strong, with Eli coming back from the dead, and the excitement escalates from there. This is an action-packed, exciting, heartwarming story that shows what people can do when they come together with a common goal.
I love this series and although I am a little sad that this is the end, I'm totally satisfied with the ending—and this series as a whole. This genre is not my typical reading material but Susan writes amazing stories, no matter what genre she currently writin ...more

Okay, so I went back and read everything in the series ALL OVER AGAIN. I mean, The Illusory Prophet released in 2017, which is really long ago... and I really hate when authors take forever to finish a series, but this was... this was worth the wait, I think. Yes, definitely worth the wait. Though, technically you don't really need to do that. There's enough back info in this one to help you remember what happened in the previous three books (assuming you haven't completely wiped them from your

I've waffled on what to say for this book. It's been three years since I read book three, and I really wish I'd had time to go back and read the whole series in preparation for its conclusion. I had a vague recollection of where we left off, which is actually high praise for the series, because I read more than 100 books every year. The Singularity series withstood the stand of time, but the details were hazy.

Out of sheer determination, I read the fourth and final book in the Singularity series. Expect to suspend your disbelief in several ways if you venture this far.
Keep in mind that this is YA genre. So I'm chalking up some of the hokeyness to that.
This series does explore several complex questions about what it means to be human - and whether there is a duality of mind and matter.
My first issue is that the author isn't consistent in any of the books about what constitutes mind and what constitutes ...more

Ah, the treasure hunt.
I'm a dork, I know.
It's just that there are few things as satisfying in the reading world than finding an unknown story that deserves to be told.
The Singularity series was a fun discovery, and Susan Kaye Quinn's awesome concept for speculative fiction definitely deserves a bigger audience. It's an attempt to blend religion and science fiction, and I was surprised to find this marriage of opposites act ...more

The Last Mystic is all that a fan of the Singularity Series could ask for and more. I have loved following along with the protagonist of this series, partly because it feels like the more I've read, the more I've grown alongside Eli. I love the science fiction elements of the Singularity world and for me what makes this world a world worth visiting is that it is a world where stories are told with heart. This view into the future of technology is illuminating; and the way that Singularity’s tech

Eli is back from the dead and Kamali is ready to be the next offering to hopefully bring about the second Singularity. But the more times Eli goes in to get others out and save others from death, he figures out what is meant by him being the bridge, and there is possibly another way to bring about the Second Singularity than just offering up Kamali his girlfriend.

Awe is probably how I would describe how I felt reading this book. I think that this book is particularly strong when it comes to describing Eli's emotion as he learns more about his own capabilities and his connection to the world. I also enjoyed the imagery that was used to describe certain situations, particularly when Eli enters the fugue state. This book is definitely a solid conclusion to The Singularity series. Because it is a conclusion, the stakes, at least to me, didn't feel too high e

I’ve been craving another Singularity Series book, and Susan Kaye Quinn has more than delivered with the stunningly fantastic concluding volume in the series, The Last Mystic (Book 4). Eli is back (back from the dead) and it’s great that he is as everything is heading for a pretty scary ascender “final solution” that only he can really (hopefully) deal with. Can he really be the bridge for all humanity, both legacy or ascender? Read and find out. Long standing questions are finally answered in a

I'm so sad it is all finished! There seemed to be less action and more reflection in this final book of the series, but I was overjoyed to see some of the 'friends' from the short novels (Stories of Singularity) that accompany this series, take their place centre stage.
Eli also has the dilemma of whether Kamali should ascend, and the way that part of the plot was sorted out was a delight. As with much of this series, we have to suspend our belief in the science that we understand, and Eli becomi ...more
