Lost Kings MC #16

Rhythm of the Road

Rate this book
The open road has owned my heart for as long as I can remember.

Until a certain sassy little singer stole it.

Hookups don’t lead to happily ever afters.

A couple nights together. Nothing more.

We made no promises.

Our worlds couldn’t be more opposite.

She’s sweet lyrics and sunshine.

I’m danger and destruction.

She’s miles away, but all I see when I close my eyes.

The rhythm of the road is what I need to settle my mind.

Problem is, it’s taking me straight to her.

"The best nights I have to offer her are around a campfire under the stars."

Rhythm of the Road is the 16th book in the Lost Kings MC Series. You would think I would have had my fill of the LOKI men and their women but the truth is, I can never get enough. We met Logan "Rooster" and Shelby in Swagger and Sass and the spark that ignited between the two is destined to burn! Rhythm of the Road picks up directly after Swagger and Sass and Shelby is on tour as the opening act for a talented country and western singer. Even though she is just the opening act, she has attracted a great deal of attention and her fan base is climbing. Logan is determined to stay connected to his country girl so he hits the road to visit her while she is on tour. Once the two are reunited, nothing and no one is going to keep them apart. Despite the distance, the fans, the club drama, and Shelby's overbearing mother, Logan is set on making Shelby his. Just like every smoking hot alpha MC Male, Rooster will stop at nothing to keep his girl safe and sound in his arms.

description
"Now, I've got nothing but miles of road ahead of me to miss him and only warm memories to keep me company."
Told in multiple POV, Rhythm of the Road is a perfect blend of load and rowdy MC fun and smooth and sassy country twang. Although both Shelby and Logan desire to be together, the difficulties continue to mount against them. Shelby is terrified to give into Logan in fear that she will inadvertently give up her dreams and lose everything she has been working for. And yet, the passion between the two continues to pull them together! Logan and Shelby are opposites and yet together they make a perfect match. As always (when it comes to LOKI men), the passion between these two characters will set your Kindle on fire! Despite the magic that exists between the two, the stakes are high for them to make it to their HEA!
"All I need is you."
Overall, Rhythm of the Road is another delicious read by Autumn Jones Lake. As the arc of the series continues to develop, the LOKI Club becomes more diverse and even more loyal to each other. The LOKI Women certainly know how to keep their men on their toes. This series would appeal to MC Romance Fans who enjoy complex stories with loveable (and lickable) characters who love hard, live in the fast lane, and have vowed to protect the ones they love. In these current times, I cannot help but want to escape into the LOKI world every chance that I get. I am dying for more Logan and Shelby and the next book cannot come out fast enough. My Kindle and I will be ready and waiting!!!

It’s family reunion time, Lost Kings edition.

I honestly don’t know if another series has ever made me feel like I’m catching up with family the way this one does.

Shelby is a great addition to the Lost Kings MC sisterhood. I love all of Autumn’s heroines. She has a gift for writing heroines I can actually care about and empathize with. They’re always strong, smart, women with a hint of vulnerability that I can relate to.

While you could read this book as a standalone or as an intro to the series, it’s better if you’ve read Swagger and Sass, and it’s flocking AMAZING if you’re familiar with the entire Lost Kings MC world.

We first met Shelby in the prequel/novella Swagger and Sassy where she’s the sweet southern girl with a secret (she’s a new to the scene country singer struggling with her newfound “fame.”)
She and Rooster have this instant spark and chemistry and fall head over boots for each other in SAS. But she lives in Texas. He lives in NY. She’s about to go out on the road and he just took over as VP for the downstate NY charter of the Lost Kings MC. They have responsibilities and obligations they can’t ignore.

Swagger left us on an uplifting Happy For Now ending and Rhythm of the Road follows through, picking up a few months later. We know from White Lies, that Rooster and Shelby are still in contact with each other so the way Rhythm opens flows perfectly from where White Lies left off.
Shelby’s on the road on her first big tour. She’s struggling with the demands of such a big responsibility but handles it with a grace and humility I found really refreshing. She’s the farthest thing from a diva. She’s humble but doesn’t let people walk all over her either.

Here I want to detour and say this is one of my favorite things about this author. While her books are romantic fiction, they are grounded in reality. She writes about rock stars but they’re the struggling rock stars trying to make it big, not the already mega-successful ones. She writes about lawyers but the ones wrangling with real career issues. I really love that about her books. It’s tiring to read about “the biggest rock star on the planet” or the billionaire with mommy issues, or the super-successful happy with everything in her life except love career woman. I’m honestly sick to death of those kinds of stories. It’s refreshing to read about normal women struggling with normal things who meet a man who enriches their life and supports them in everything they do—all while knowing how to find a clit without a flashlight and give out multiple orgasms. Loving alpha heroes for the win!

Sidetrack over.

Shelby is flocking awesome. She kicks major ass. But Rooster’s presence in her life makes everything better. He makes her happier and he’s addicted to making her happy. It’s such a beautiful thing when they admit their feelings and decide to try and make it work. We learn more about Shelby and her back story. Some of it is heartbreaking but the way she approaches fame because of it, cemented her in my heart as one of my favorite book girlfriends. She’s also got some interesting quirks to her personality I haven’t seen in a lot of romance heroines, and I really enjoyed them. Her Texasisms (as Rooster calls them) are hilarious. She even gets a side-eye from Alexa at one point which had me giggling out loud.

Rooster is…hot as hell and so great to Shelby. In the club, he’s still trying to prove himself as VP. We feel his struggle to live up to the responsibility Z gave him, because he has a lot of respect and loyalty toward Z for turning his charter around, but also wanting to be there for his girl. I think he handles the competing desires the best he can. Z is a big help there too which made me have even more mad love for Z.

Opposition comes from some surprising places. Both of them have trouble being honest at times. But these were natural struggles that people who are in their positions would have. The mature way they handle each problem was extremely satisfying to me.

Besides loving Rooster and Shelby, we also get to visit and catch up with all of our favorites in the series. I was grinning like an idiot and laughing so hard during their time upstate. Shelby fits in well with the ol’ ladies but it’s also hard on her because she knows she’s not truly part of their circle. And may not ever be able to be while she’s chasing stardom. There is a fabulous scene at the upstate compound that was as funny as it was heartbreaking. The breadcrumbs the author left in that scene felt like a giant hug to her fans. It’s probably one of my new favorites. You’ll know it when you see it.

Also—if you just came off the high of reading the Hollywood Demons trilogy, Mallory and Chaser pop up and I absolutely squealed in delight seeing them on the page. Chaser’s tie-in was especially intriguing and I hope we learn more in future books.

This is a big story. So flocking fabulous, I can’t really get it all into words. We finally get to spend time with Lost Kings chapters outside of New York and outside of National (although Priest’s presence is still looming in the background.) One of the things this author does exceptionally well is introduce characters we need to know more about. Personally, I need at least two books about Dawson Roads ASAP and one or two about Ice and Anya, right after she finishes books for Remy, Griff, Eraser, Dex, Grinder, and Jigsaw. Please and thank you. Also I realize the Hollywood Demons trilogy is complete, and loved the way it ended, however I really need another book with Chaser and Mallory. It needs to be a quadrilogy or quatrilogy—whatever a five-book series is called. There I said it. I absolutely loved catching up with them here and would happily read three more books about this couple.

I’m not going to get into the ending of Rhythm of the Road. This is book #16 in the series. If you don’t know how these books end by now, nothing I can say here will help you. If you started the series with Swagger and Sass and went into Rhythm of the Road, use the time between now and the next book to catch up on the entire Lost Kings MC series and the Hollywood Demons series. You will not regret a single moment!

One final thing I’ll mention that I enjoy about this author are her sex-positive stories and the way she nips any potential other-woman drama in the bud without denigrating the other woman. I’m sick to death of books where “loose” women are portrayed as “other” or in a negative way. That crap doesn’t fly in the Lost Kings MC world and it’s one of my favorite things about this series. Loose women can be bad characters, but they are not bad because they are loose. There is a difference and this author nails it every time.

Overall, 5 party like a flockstar stars.🦩🐓

I am in agony right now because seriously, Lost Kings MC #17 will not come fast enough for me and the way this one ends was so GAH!!!!
When I first read the novella Swagger and Sass, I fell in love with the adorable waitress Shelby and her ability to almost tame the bad boy Rooster from the very first moment they meet. Rooster was her knight in shining chrome at the time, and I knew their insta-love would not be easy to maintain with them being apart. He had his club and she had her music career. This new full length book takes their relationship to the next level. We get to see the rest of the brothers and their ladies and how they interact with Rooster's new love. We also find out about an insidious problem plaguing Shelby on the road and when Rooster and his club get involved, I was hoping for a resolution. Nope, of course not...we will have to wait to find out how it will all play out...but damn, the journey is one hell of a way to get to the final destination.

Not much reading has been happening for me over the last few months but I can never pass on a book by Autumn. She writes such compelling stories with complex, vibrant, and complex characters that any reader wouldn't mind getting lost and forgetting their cares for a few hours.

While Rythm of the Road is the 16th book in the series, you can still pick this up without reading any other book in the series (I do suggest picking up Swagger and Sass (which is free!) a short story that introduces these two characters and how they first meet). It's a great way to be introduced to the Lost King world and trust me one read and you will be hooked!

Rooster and Shelby had an instant connection/chemistry when they first met. They each just wanted a bit of fun but soon learned parting wasn't as easy as they thought. Life on the road for aspiring country star Shelby proves lonely and stressful and her only lifeline are her talks with Rooster. Rooster always thought his club would come first, but the more he gets to know Shelby the more he realizes that he wants more than just the club life.

Rooster stole a piece of my heart in this book. He really was a strong rock and foundation for Shelby. When everyone else forgot about her and left her to fend for herself, Rooster did the little things to make Shelby's life on the road a little less stressful and let her be her best self on the stage.

I also adored how Shelby was written. The vulnerability and fears that she had were so very relatable. The world often puts extra pressure on women and often times feel like we have to be wonder women and take everything on with a smile on our face and often no one to back us up. Shelby's insecurities and doubts are totally understandable for what she has endured and the career she is pursuing. It makes her character so multi-dimensional and interesting as she fights her own demons to grab the life and love she deserves.

Rooster and Shelby's relationship is adorable but also real. life and love are never easy and this rings true for these two. If you enjoy couples who will fight together to claim what they want out of life and love then you will want to pick up this book!

My advice... RATION yourself and read this one slowly... IF you can. (I couldn’t)

Seriously though... and it’s a big call... I think this is Autumn Jones Lake’s best book yet. Her writing and story telling goes from strength to strength.

The twists and turns of the plot keep getting more intricate... and how she manages to weave the stories in and around and back on themselves is evil genius level at this point.

AJL has given us the most amazing cast and crew... a family of characters to love... and hate... and it’s so easy to lose yourself in their world. Highly recommend reading the whole series for the full effect of being emerged in this world.

I adore Rooster’s loyalty to the club and putting his own needs and happiness on the back burner for that end... and his in built need to help... ahhhhh... my heart.

Love love love Shelby’s selflessness, strength and vulnerability all wrapped up in the perfect package.

HOT AF sex scenes, again, and as always... AJL never disappoints in this department.

And again with raising current, real and relevant socio-political issues... I actually think this is the BIG draw card for me and what keeps me really hooked on AJL’s books, setting her apart from every other writer in this genre in my opinion. Writing strong heroines and men who know how to be men... who know how to treat a woman and give her what she needs... is no mean feat. And AJL nails it. Every. Damn. Time.

Standing ovation. Ten stars. Red carpet. Nominations for whatever awards AJL should be up for.

Bravo.

Don't let that number 16 scare you when you see that's where Rhythm of the Road falls in the LOKI series. Autumn Jones Lake doesn't do rinse and repeat words; each book is a new adventure through this outlaw family's world. And what an incredible adventure it is!

I wouldn't say that Rooster and Shelby were an instant favorite LOKI couple of mine. I mean, who are we kidding, there are a lot of them to choose from, but Rhythm of the Road cemented their worthiness. Shelby's sweet southern demeanor will charm you from beginning to end, and Rooster and Jigsaws banter will leave you in stitches. What keeps me in it, though, is the ferocity in which Rooster loves Shelby and the passion between the two. I love how Autumn writes these big, badass alpha heroes, who, for all other purposes, would knock your teeth out if you looked at them wrong. But treat their women with anything but respect? Not happening. They might protect their women but never possess them, which makes her strong-minded heroines that much better.

In a change from Autumn's normal HFN (happy for now) ending, we get a doozy of a cliffhanger. I seriously went back and read the last chapter at least three times. Lots of suspense leading into the final book for Shelby and Rooster. I'm ready, are you?

5 Rooster and Shelby Stars....plus a great big shining star for Jigsaw

I am a long time fan of The Lost Kings. I was hooked from the very first book, Slow Burn and my heart has been lost to these characters and stories ever since. These are books that you pick up and within a paragraph you are back in the LOKI world and it's like meeting up with the best kind of old friends where it doesn't matter how long you've been apart, it's like no time has passed.

I'm a voracious reader of contemporary romance and MC Romance is my favourite. LOKI ticks every single box for me. The camaraderie and loyalty between the men , the loyalty they have for the women in their lives , the twists and turns, the raw emotions and humour make for beautifully crafted stories that stay with you. Autumn Jones Lake writes fantastic books.

This book follows on from Swagger and Sass , which was a short story that set the scene for Shelby, an upcoming Country Music Artist, and Rooster (Logan) who is the Vice President of the Downstate Lost Kings NY charter. I have been itching for this book and it did not disappoint .

“Please kiss me again.”
Instead of a cocky comeback, he edges closer. Tall, he’s so damn tall. Roughly beautiful. Strong. My whole world fills with him. His scent—crisp summer grass, leather with a touch of motor oil. His warmth. His touch.

I love that these books simply ooze passion and romance. They are sexy and hot but there is an air of reverence in which these men hold their women. Be still my heart but these guys are perfectly imperfect Heroes.

I move us in front of the small mirror over the sink. We’re an interesting picture. Beauty about to be devoured by the beast.

The last few books have definitely had a darker feel to them generally and yes, this one ends on a very dramatic cliffhanger BUT the majority of the story had a much lighter and fun feel to it. Rooster is loyal, witty and doesn't take crap from anyone ...and he is falling hard and fast for our heroine. I loved that he absolutely had her back, he doesn't play mind games and what you see is what you get- every gorgeous bit of him.

Shelby is my kind of heroine. She's kind, determined - but not self centred - and she is so likeable. Her 'Texas'isms' are hilarious.

Good Lord, if I sprinkle anymore Southern sweetness into my voice, I'll have to change my name to Sugar.

Everyone tells her what to do in her life except for our Hero who encourages her to just be herself. She is sweet but she's not angelic - I loved it when she encountered the infamous Tawny and her bitchy snide comments....

“Aren’t you a cute little thing,” Tawny says, slowly assessing me after Rooster dashes away. I study her tight red jeans, high-heeled sandals, ample cleavage, and helmet of shellacked red hair, and want to answer, “Well, aren’t you a scary bitch?” But my momma raised me better than that.

The story is well paced and there isn't a huge amount of 'club' activity , compared to some other books in the series, but pay attention because what there is is important and I am sure will have a huge impact in upcoming books. There are small parts of the story featuring Rock ,Wrath , Murphy and Z and I relished it but I wanted more (that's just me being greedy!).

There was something that I loved as much as the main romance and that was the bromance between Rooster and Jigsaw. I ADORE Jigsaw. He and Rooster have been best friends since childhood and that connection they have made me laugh, giggle and cackle. I need Jiggy's story. He's so mischievous and very endearing but don't let that fool you - Jigsaw didn't get that road name from doing puzzles. When he needs to be tough he is your quintessential hardcore biker. And a HUGE flirt.

“Hi, Hope.” Jigsaw braces his hands on the back of her chair and leans over. “You’re looking lovely this evening.”
“Hello, Jigsaw.” She smiles up sweetly at him. “You’re looking suicidal tonight.”
Like he has radar for anyone trying to cop a peek down his wife’s shirt, Rock body checks Jiggy away from his wife.
“Control your RC, Prez,” he growls at Z.
Z snaps his fingers at me. “VP, come get your boy.”

I didn't know this was going to be a cliffhanger ending , and honestly if I had known I would have waited for Lyrics on the Wind to be released before I read ROTR. But that is because I am very impatient and I need to know what happens next straight away =0)

I would recommend reading the other books in the series - I think you would struggle a little to get all the finer points of the sub plots running through the series if you did not read the other novels.

HEA? Nope - big old fat cliffhanger is dangling in the way of the HEA at the moment. Grrrr.
Cheating? No - these two are solid.

Yet another surprise cliffhanger.

I mean seriously how difficult is it to put “cliffhanger” under the blurb?

Again this wasn’t my favourite. I found myself skimming in places which isn’t a good sign.
But the next book is out so it’s straight onto that for me now.

What can I say?....Autumn has once again smashed it!!!

The Lost Kings MC Series is one of my all time favourite reads and it never ever ever, disappoints! Seriously, it takes pure talent and geniusness (is that a word?! 🤷🏻‍♀️) to write so many books in the same world and still leaving you wanting for more!

Rooster and Shelby's story is awesome! There's nothing better than a hard-a** biker bloke falling in love! Unless of course he's a Loki Biker 😘 Man, those guys love hard!!!
Shelby is a sweet country singer who works her butt off, she's had it tough growing up and just wants to better herself, she has an instant connection to Rooster but it's not this insta-love repetitive story, it's a believable attraction and connection, you will want these two to get their hae...but off course nothings ever straight forward in the world of Loki!!!!

I also love that we get to catch up with some of the characters from previous books, I swear those guys are real to me!!!

An excellent book and addition to the series and I'm super excited to read part 2 and then more of the Loki world!!!!

( Just incase your unaware, Swagger and Sass is a prequel to this story so I recommend going and reading it before this!)

Yet another top 5 star read from the amazing Autumn ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rooster is right up there with my fave leading men in MC’s of all time. Funny, smart, sincere and above all honest about his feelings. Shelby is a perfect counterpoint for him, while maintaining her independence as a touring country singer and having a certain amount of vulnerability yet never being a doormat.

The writing is, as always, top notch. This is a relationship book where we see the relationship grow organically through conversations and actions. And the secondary characters, like Rooster’s best friend Jigsaw, get a huge amount of page time and yet never detract from the romance.

The only thing I was disappointed in was that the stalker plot was a little bit weak and now I have to wait 5 months till the next book to find out what happens because of the cliffhanger ending.

Sixteen books in and I still love this series. The only MF series I read that’s an automatic pre-order/one-click.

Another Home Run

It's a family reunion!! That's what AJL has created with The Lost Kings MC series. Meet Shelby and Rooster, another amazing and sizzling hot couple in the LOKI family!! I never get tired of a sexy alpha caveman that are LOKI men. And Rooster is one sexy beast. And, introducing Shelby Morgan, a sassy, witty country singer. Strong and fierce woman and the perfect match for Rooster. This is one hell of a ride!!! You will not be disappointed with book 16.

Rhythm of the Road is book #16 in the Lost Kings MC Series and focuses on Rooster and Shelby.

I don't know which part of the story line I loved more; the romance between Shelby and Rooster or the bromance between Rooster and Jiggy lol. Their bromance is definitely giving Murphy and Teller a run for their money!

Out of all the Lost Kings book, I think this one was by far the funniest! I was laughing my a$$ off two pages in and there were some really great moments and one liners throughout! Being back in the Lost Kings world is always a good time!

Shelby and Rooster's relationship is really starting to blossom, but there are a lot of underlying insecurities. With Shelby on the road touring around the country and Rooster trying keep the Club first while also working to reassure Shelby he's in it for the long haul, things are bound to get complicated.

Shelby is sweet as pie and wants to give her fans her all. But she is also quite the spit fire, she has that Southern Sass and has a jealousy streak running through her. One thing is clear, she is loyal, especially to her mother who, in my opinion, doesn't seem to deserve it.  Rooster is strong, bossy, and likes to be in control. He's a lethal combo of sexy AND smart! I love how attentive and caring he is with Shebly. He's also extremely patient, at least where Shelby is concerned, def not with Jigsaw and his other nutty buddies.

There is still a lot we don't know about Rooster. He seems really gaurded when it comes to his past, and Shelby is too but she has bared more then Rooster so far. I am hoping we get more of Rooster's personal story in the next book. Speaking of the next book, if you don't like cliff hangers you really should start to! Why? Because it means MORE BOOKS!!! Which also means MORE ROCK, Z, Wrath, Teller, Murphy, and the rest of the club 😍😍!! That's a win win for me!! So instead of sulking about it, use it to get psyched and pump yourself up for the next story and what's all to come!!!! I know I can't wait!🎉🎉

Every time I open a Lost King novel, it's a feeling of family. It takes me back to family dinners around a large table! This book just adds to that feeling. I fell in love with Rooster and Shelby in Swagger and Sass, and I couldn't wait for this book. The up state charter will ALWAYS be my favorite, but the downstate guys are starting to grow on me.

This book picks up a few months after the end of Swagger and Sass, and you get to see Rooster and Shelby try to navigate their "relationship". Rooster is adapting to more and more responsibility being the VP of downstate, and you get to see him navigate this with Z and upstates help. He is also falling harder and harder for Shelby, and trying to be everything that she needs. He is one of Autumn's characters that you absolutely fall in love with and declare that he is your favorite of the series (this happens with every main character of the particular book you are reading).

Shelby is an amazing addition to the Lost Kings family, and even though she is a bit more shy than the other female characters, she still fits right in. Some of her Shelbyisms crack me up, and I've worked them into my own vocabulary (Well aren't you tougher than a pine knot). Rooster is the type of man that wants to see Shelby soar and help her in any way that he can, yet she is sassy enough that she knocks him down a few pegs when she feels the need to.

The banter in this book is hilarious, and my husband gave me multiple weird looks as I would randomly start laughing. I never thought that someone could replace Ravage in thinking, "Did he really just say that?" but Jigsaw has taken the cake! I honestly can't wait for his book now (right after Dex, Rock and Teller, Remy, Griff, Vapor and every other character) and to see him brought to his knees by a woman.

If you have read the series up to this point, we all know that Autumn likes to leave us hanging for the next book, and she does not disappoint with this one. It does end in a cliffhanger, but this book is so worth the read and the impatient wait for Lyrics of the Wind, which I have NO DOUBT what so ever Autumn will completely blow us away again.

This author is freaking magical at writing! 😍😍 Rhythm of the road starts off a few moths after Swagger and Sass and it’s like no time has passed! It eases in so naturally and brings back all the feels! I adored Rooster after reading it and he does NOT disappoint in this book! Ugh he’s just so bad ass but sweet at the same time. Not to say they both don’t have any flaws but they are perfection together! Shelby is just a doll but a doll that will kick your ass if you need it! Lol She is just so adorably fierce and sweet! Their journey takes them through some ups and downs and a few surprising turns but just makes your heart so happy for them! As for the rest of the gang, we get to catch up with the, as well which is always an amazing treat! I LOVE seeing them all again and getting tidbits of their lives as time passes! They are like a family to me so I enjoy every bit of it! My only problem with this book is..... that we have to wait for the next one! 😂😂 seriously I am already dying for more! Autumn you have done it again and I am so happy you continue to bless us with these phenomenal characters time and time again!

Rhythm of the Road is everything a great romance story should be.

I don’t know how AJL manages to make each LOKI book unique and original but she truly does. No Lost King is too similar to another.

After 16 (not including novellas or anthologies) she has created this family of people that you can’t wait to see snippets of in each book but that never deters from the main characters.

Ah Rooster & Shelby. I felt their longing, their excitement, their possessiveness, their maturity, & their uncertainty all throughout their story. Truly a heart clenching, butterflies in the tummy inducing, sexy alpha meets sassy southern belle MC romance.

Rooster is demanding and protective in all the right ways. He wants Shelby to shine & achieve everything she’s every wanted. He’s truly a cuddly bearded sexy alpha who is all in for his lady.

Shelby is independent, smart, sassy & incredibly caring. She gives as good as she gets and can hang with the guys but when she’s with Rooster she allows herself to be honest & vulnerable and it’s refreshing. She is easily one of my favorite LOKI heroines.

This story does end on a doozy of a cliff hanger but no worries there’s 15 other LOKI to catch up with (or meet) before their conclusion, Lyrics on the Wind comes out in January 2021.

Autumn knocked it out of the park again. This book was flocking flamazing. I loved how this picked up seamlessly from Rooster and Shelby's HFN ending in Swagger and Sass. The parts with both upstate and downstate LOKI charters felt like a big reunion to me I loved getting to touch base with all my favorites and see where they were. Rooster and Shelby's story is one of my favorites I love how attentive Rooster is to her and even though they have their problems they work through them. Shelby fits right in with the other Old Ladies and even though she's a rising star she's not a diva which I love she felt so real. All of Autumn's characters do. I really enjoyed seeing Chaser and Mallory it put a giant smile on my face I love those two so much I could read 10 more books about them. I really loved and enjoyed RotR so much I can't wait for the next book. Autumn is an amazing storyteller each book is so fantastic.

I have been looking forward to this book after loving them in Swagger and Sass, which is why I found myself surprised by wanting to shake Shelby more than once at the beginning of the book, and don't get me started on her mother...

Jiggy oh Jiggy, I cannot wait till his book comes along and some sassy girl hands him his ass. His inability to hold back or read a room is hilarious but dangerous for his health.

Be careful when reading this captivating book, as I stupidly got lulled into a false sense of security, and enjoying life on the road with them. By the time I got to the last few chapters, I was alternating between nearly throwing my kindle and white knocking it.

Thoroughly enjoyed, it wrung every single emotion out of me. Definitely not to be missed. Look forward to the next as wow.

I loved this book so much! I think that Rooster and Shelby are the closest thing to Rock and Hope in terms of personality (couple-wise) that we've seen in the whole series. Rooster is that same steady protector that Rock was, and Shelby is the sweet and independent woman that Hope was (although a little sassier, which I love!). The level of sweet is so high - Rooster has found the woman he wants, and nothing and nobody (himself included) is going to hurt her. These two together are everything; there were moments I wanted to cry for them, I was so happy. It was pure happenstance that they found each other, but even as I write that, I'm not sure - it seems like it might have been fate after all.

My favorite lines from the book:
"I don't want this to end. Not just this particular moment. Every moment with her."

As always, the writing is perfect from a technical standpoint. From the perspective of telling a story - what's better than perfect, because that's what this is!

This is another Autumn Jones Lake masterpiece, and I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series to finish up Rooster and Shelby's story!

This is one I will definitely be re-reading, and soon! Highly recommended!

The story of the 2 Lost Kings New York Charters continues and we find Downstate's VP Logan (Rooster) coming out to tell his story about Shelby and him. The sex scenes are smoking hot between these two as always from Autumn.
The storyline and the nuances of the characters are what continues to draw you in and I keep coming back and finding stuff I missed first time through. We meet old friends like Z ,Rock etc,and the characters from previous books really come off the page and introduce themselves properly. New characters appear that are unknown in whether we like them or not.
Shelby's tour and music business storyline was insightful in how the musicians are treated and the ups and downs of Shelby and Logan are a fun, emotional rollercoaster of a ride.
Autumn don't stop these stories they have been some of the high points of the last couple of years.
Downside cliffhanger ending and I need to wait till January for the next book....whats a girl to do, start at the beginning again.

Ok... so the first thing I need to say is... if this is your first Autumn Jones Lake book... buy it... but go back and buy the rest of them because you’re missing out!

The second thing I have to say is... have you been living under a rock???

I have found the couple that has replaced Rock and Hope (and Z and Lilly) in my head as best couple ever!

Rooster is just a giant burnt marshmallow (crunchy in the outside, squishy on the inside) and so fiercely protective of his Shelby that, honestly, I’m a little jealous!

Shelby is the girl I want to be best friends with!

Together they make just the sweetest and fiercest couple! God bless anyone who stands in there way.

If you don’t like cliffhangers wait until Lyrics on the Wind releases and read them back to back... because I’m going to be in a state of anxiety until it arrives!

👏🏻😆

I love this authors writing. The banter between characters is very entertaining. Revisiting the characters from other books in the LOKI world is all ways a treat.
Highly recommend.

Not happy

Maybe I missed the fact that this was a cliff hanger but what a total smack the fact. Long drawn out story and then a cliff hanger. Never would have purchased if I would known.

What a story (and a cliffhanger)!! Autumn Jones Lake has done it AGAIN! I have been so excited for Rhythm of the Road to release since Rooster popped up in Z’s books. Then when I read Swagger and Sass (Book 14.5) I wanted more of both Rooster and Shelby (What a great name for a female character…lol😊). This story shows that a long distance relationship is possible when love is real. Not to say it won’t come with ups and downs and boy were there a few in this book. I love the connection that Shelby and Rooster share as well as the possessiveness and protectiveness they have for each other. I can’t want for book two in this duet to release in January. That cliffhanger really left me hanging…” thanks”, Autumn.

If the connection between Rooster and Shelby didn’t seal the deal on the 5-star rating it was the bromance between Rooster and his best friend, Jigsaw. Loved their “to the bone” friendship and Jigsaw’s one-liners had me laughing out loud so many times. My kindle is full of so many highlighted quotes.

I always recommend you read Autumn’s other books in the Lost Kings MC series to get the full story. They are awesome as well. It will help with context and the understanding of who is who in the LOKI MC world. Happy Reading :) #IsItJanuaryYet #KingsForever #ForeverKings #LostKingsMC

I am in love with Rooster!
He's giving my man Murphy a run for his money. Rooster is every bit the scary biker when he needs to be but he's also so freaking sweet! Shelby is awesome and I adore all her country twang and sayings. But mostly I love how she doesn't give a flock about what people think of her and her man. This country music twist added to the MC world is just perfect.
I don't know how Autumn keeps building this world and it never gets old. She continues to do an amazing job at keeping her readers on their toes and adding not only new characters but story lines too. And I should have known better, that she would hook us in good with this one, leaving us on the edge of our seats waiting for the next book to release.

Reading Rhythm of the Road was like the luxury vacation I desperately need but can’t afford to take!
Being back with the Lost Kings is like a hug and family reunion (only with the "fun" side of the family) all wrapped in one! I loved every word! Rooster and Shelby are flocking amazing together! Rooster is smoking hot! Shelby is so sassy but also sweet. Together they're perfect! Absolutely adored every second of Rhythm of the Road.

I have to admit, Jigsaw stole the show a few times. His banter and love of needling Rooster were classic Lost Kings! But he also comes through for his brother when needed. He's 100% down to protect Shelby when things get rough.

Once again, Autumn nails the loving, loyal alpha hero she is so good at!

There are no words

The best storyteller has the name Autumn Jones Lake. Another unbelievable book. This series spans 16 full length novels now and she is still able to keep the stories fresh. Oh how I love to visit her world. Shelby and Rooster are a couple that I can not wait to read more of. I enjoyed hearing from some of her past characters and learning about new characters as well. What is in store for them is something only Autumn can tell us. I only wish she could write as fast as I can read. Keep writing Autumn and I will keep reading.

Cliffhangers

Everyone of this authors book is a cliffhanger. You don’t get to finish a storyline. In my mind it’s ploy to try to force you to buy the next book if you want to finish a storyline. Instead of letting you get caught up in the series and wanting to buy the next book.

So good and can't wait for the next book. This is Rooster and Shelby's book also.
Both Logan, AKA Rooster and Shelby are keeping secrets from each other... never a good way to start a relationship. His is club business and her's is a crazy fan. She's scared but doesn't think it's a real threat. Rooster and Jiggy know there's crazy people in this world. When they step away to handle business who's watching Shelby?
Can't wait to see what happens to her but it'll have to wait until tomorrow.

She hit it out of the park....again.

I loved seeing old characters and the new ones blend together. This may be spoilerish so fair warning........................
It does end on a bit of a cliffhanger. But i've read her books before that ended on a bit of a "omg what happens!?" but she always ties it up nicely in the next book. The hardest part about reading her great stories is the waiting in between for the next one to come out.
Can't wait to see what's in store for Logan and Shelby.
