When Manhattan chef Jake Maxwell, walks into the Rock Bottom Bar and Grill, he’s hit with an overwhelming sense of belonging. It’s not the place that feels like home, but rather the bombshell behind the bar armed with a quick wit and a fresh sharpie.

Ashlynn Hicks is fighting to keep a roof over her family’s head, despite her father’s addictions that threaten to tear it al

What a story! This book was one that really had me hooked and dying to know how things were going to work out. My heart broke for Ashlynn and everything she was forced to put up with in order to take care of her family and keep a roof over their head. Working her butt off every day and not getting anything but attitude from her sister and criticism from her father would be enough to break even the strongest person, yet Ashlynn keeps pushing through day after day.

When Jake finally has enough of h

Samatha Harris is an author that I have enjoyed before I was excited to have another book from her; Bulletproof did not disappoint.

Ash and Jake are both interesting, dynamic characters. He is the “poor little rich boy” trying to find his true place in the world- even though he (thankfully) avoids acting like it. She is a hard working young woman who has more responsibility than she should for her families well being. From the very beginning, I enjoyed the dynamic of these two. They are likeable

This took a little bit of getting into, but when I had it was a fabulous story.

Camden didn't feel right taking over the Maxwell empire when his father died. It was not what he wanted, it got so bad that eventually he walked out. His grandmother had left him a rather rundown but big house in an isolated little town called Merrittville. He remembered coming to visit his grandmother and had good memories and this is where he fled to, he wanted to find out what he wanted to do. He went

Ashlynn has no interest in love or a relationship as supporting her family both financially and emotionally doesn’t leave much room for anything else.

Jake had the career, the wealth and the lifestyle but what he didn’t have was happiness. While considering what direction he wants his future to take he meets Ashlynn and knows that she is what his life has been missing.

Their journey is filled with intrigue, twists and heat and it shows that with the right person by your side you can overcome anyth

Overall I like this book and would give it a 3.5 stars. Its a angsty romance that you will want to keep reading to see what happens. It is a quick read so get to one clicking!

Jake and Ash both have there demons they face and neither will be reluctant to let the other in and when a twist neither was expecting comes around can they survive it and come out stronger in the end?

Ash is a woman who puts up with a lot when it comes to her family. Her father is horrible in my eyes, while her sister is not that much behind him, and their favorite target is Ash. I never understood why she kept working with them, because they were just such colorful metaphor after colorful metaphor. I do account the treatment she puts up with from her family, to have her acting out pretty immature at times. And it's never so ever present as it is when Jake gets to town. He hated his life in M ...more

Jake and Ashlynn have an interesting first meeting. He leaves with a reminder on his forehead of how sassy Ash is. Ash pegs Jake as a good looking man who is in town and looking for a little fun with her before he heads out. Little does she know, Jake has roots in the town and is contemplating his life while he is there. He doesn't want anyone to bother him, so he does a little embellishing in order to keep his privacy. Ash has her own issues, especially when it comes to her father and her littl ...more

WOW!!!!! That's the first word that comes to my mind about this book...I truly believe that this is Samatha's best work....EVER!!!!

He hates his life in Manhattan. He's a multi millionaire! YET he doesn't want the life that was spread out for him. " Jake" didn't want anyone to know who he really was because he wanted to earn his own way and let me say that right there earned him swoon points with me.
She was brought up with nothing. She had to fight to keep the little her and her family had. WH

When Jake Maxwell needs to escape from his family obligations, he heads to the small town where his mom is from to fix up his dead grandmother's house. He soon meets Ash, who is everything he wants in the world. Her family life is awful, and she is guarded, but he's determined to be her boyfriend.

One catch, he failed to mention he is a rich executive from Manhattan.

The chemistry between the two is amazing. You want to one click this one right away!

This is a new to me author and I will be reading more of her works. It was slow going for me to start the book but after a while it really took off and it turned out to be an enjoyable story. Jake needs a break from the demands of his family and obligations ever since his father‘s death. He just doesn’t want to take over so he escapes to his mother’s hometown and his grandmothers house. That’s where he meets Ashlyn. There is an immediate spark between the two but Ash keeps him at a distance bec ...more

Jake needs a break from demands and expectations since his father dies. Taking a break he heads to his deceased grandmothers house.Unclear in his direction he heads to the only bar which happens to be the only place that sells liquor. Here he meets sassy Ash (Ashlyn)

Ash has a lot on her plate, she is barely keeping her head above water. There is an immediate connection to Jake but she keeps him at a distance believing that she can't take on more thing.

But the more Jake is around, Ash sl
