This was frustrating AF. The MC was so unlikeable and annoying that I honestly should have DNF'ed but I stuck it out to see who the killer would be and just as I suspected....it was extremely underwhelming.

The writing was choppy, the characters were awful, the romance was atrocious, it was honestly just a mess.

I'm going to label this as a "possible" RTC.

A hard working journalist reported the murder of 2 girls in the neighborhood of a small town. Her investigation commenced when she felt a strange connection to them.

My first book my author Holly Kammier, and I was in awe of the main character. Shelby had a few mental health issues, and she was strong enough to rise about the issues and leave her rich family to find her passion. Her determination seeped into every word of the book. She was the driving force which kept me stuck to the story.

Lost Girl, A Shelby Day Novel is a book about following your passions, kicking ass and letting yourself feel things deeply.

This book was different from all others I’ve read before because it featured a young reporter going after her dreams, despite being mentally ill. It’s so important to see positive representation of mentally ill women.

Shelby Day is a Jewish twentysomething suffering from PTSD who comes from a rich family but wants to make it on her own. That's why, she leaves LA and her

This was such a fun, suspenseful, fact-paced read. It reminded me of Veronica Mars. I would recommend Lost Girl, A Shelby Day Novel to anyone who loves a great murder mystery.

Ok, I loved this book!! It was a step out of the YA that I've been reading and right into a thriller!! Now my expectations for thrillers are high, I tend not to pick them up because they're predictable. Nothing more boring than knowing who did what at the half way point and having to read the characters struggle for the rest of the book. There was zero issue with that in Lost Girl! In fact I wasn't able to guess who did it at all! I was so far off and it was wonderful!

I wasn't a huge fan of the

*I recieved this book free for my honest review*

For people who like Natasha Preston or the Stalking Jack the Ripper series then this is a fantastic easy read to satisfy that "murder mystery" vibe you are looking for.

The story flows well and the author does a great job at keeping things moving with no unnecessary filler descriptions to beef up the page count.

The characters are........ slightly annoying. Shelby is all over the place with her emotions and Jack is kind of pushy for where they are.

Lost Girl: A Shelby Day Novel is an enthralling crime thriller that will leave you guessing until the author feels fit to reveal the truth. This page-turner captured my interest from the start and kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. The characters are well developed and the storyline is well written, with danger, suspense, intrigue, and twists and turns.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Being stubborn is one thing but this gutsy girl does not know when to stop. This is an edge-of-your-seat fast-paced, gripping tale that will not let go until the last page. I am hoping for more from this author!

Lost Girl was even more than I hoped for! It kept me guessing until the very end. Kammier is expert in writing tense scenes and keeping her readers involved in the storyline from beginning to end. Highly recommend.

This book was such a fun, page-turning read. The main character is real and gritty (not the typical plain Jane you read about in most YA novels), the love story is romantic but not over-the-top, and the mystery keeps you guessing. To top it off, the writing is beautiful. Doesn't get much better :)

Meet Shelby Day, the Nancy Drew of television news. From the small town setting of Ashland, Oregon, to the shady characters and a cigarette smoking protagonist, I could not put Lost Girl down. I read the entire story in one sitting and am still thinking about it.

Definitely NOT your standard YA novel. This thriller was just that--a thrill. Shelby Day is a complicated and inquisitive protagonist, with plenty to learn herself about life as an adult. Throw in a murder and a love interest and you've got all the makings of a captivating story.
Lacey Impellizeri
A true-crime novel, a romance, and a story of self-discovery all in one. Absorbing and beautifully crafted, Lost Girl channels the narrative momentum of investigative journalist, Shelby Day, as she hunts down the truth behind the mystery of a brutal double homicide. This story so delicately creates a balance between thrilling and compelling. Since I picked it up it has burned in the back of my mind like a lump of hot coal, the writing is so magnetic that I can't pull myself away even after I've ...more

I was lucky enough to receive an advance copy of Lost Girl in exchange for an honest review and I absolutely LOVED it!!! Shelby Day was a unique and relatable protagonist and there were so many twists and turns, I had no idea what to expect next. This was hands down my favorite book of the year so far. I would recommend Lost Girl to anyone who likes a good murder mystery.

I thought this was a fairly solid book and it leans closer to a four star read than three because I did have a good reading experience. Thank you so much to Holly Kammier and NetGalley for the chance to read and review this!

The story was fairly straight forward. It made reading this in a few sittings much easier. There wasn't anything incredibly nuanced about this book which I appreciated. I wanted a light, quick read and that's what I got. I do wish we got a little bit more from Shelby's

This novel was just a mess. I was looking forward to a good YA mystery/thriller but what I got was the messy plot-line of a bad romance movie. For starters, the main character, Shelby Day, is incredibly dislikable. Being pitched as a novel about a strong female investigative reporter I expected to read about a head-strong, intelligent woman, striving for success in a competitive industry. What I got was a paranoid, judgemental and selfish girl who belittle other women for their own strength and ...more

Recieved this as an E-ARC, a big thank you to Xpresso Book Tours for the opportunity. All opinions are my own.

Shelby Day works as a news reporter in a smallish town which is struck with two horrible murders of two young women. Shelby takes it upon herself to solve the murder mystery, but it seems like she's being targeted too..

Kammier's story is engaging enough, it starts to build up some suspense but for me the story got too fast-paced towards the middle part of the book, it built slow with

Lost girl, it’s a book that brought me a mix of feelings! Shelby Day, our protagonist, is a journalist who deeply gets herself involves into a double murder investigation. Throughout the narrative, she tries her best to find the murder, while deal with emotional and family problems. I loved the book, however it seemed starting from the middle of the reading, the events got faster, moment witch demanded an “bigger scenario” to better develop the narrative, mainly when Shelby fallowed a thorny ...more

I felt like this book was a solid 3 stars. There was nothing bad about the book, but nothing about it blew me away either. The main character's reckless choices got kind of old as the book went on and it was hard to feel bad for her when bad things kept happening. The pacing of the book was a little off; the middle third of the book felt pretty drawn out and the ending felt very rushed. The motivations around the two different attacks that happened to Shelby felt weak or missing to me and the ...more

I received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review of Lost Girl. This was a fast paced, emotional read with several twists I didn’t see coming. It leans closer to a 4 than a 3 if I were to just focus on the murder mystery part of the story. I struggled with the heavy focus on the self sabotaging behavior of Shelby and the controlling potential romantic partner Jack. The interplay between these two was fun banter at times but also bored on overbearing and codependent. That is my only ...more
