Normally I really enjoy Sheila Roberts' books, especially those written for the holidays but this time? Not so much. The same types of characters were gathered together - two best friends, a doctor and his incredibly annoying daughter, a few older women and TADA! A rom-com. However, THIS particular story was set on a petri dish, no, I mean a cruise ship for the holidays. Seriously, how many people have been infected with COVID on a cruise ship and how long did those ships have to sail around lik ...more

Sounds like a great premise for a book—some people who do not have plans for Christmas sign up for a European river cruise. I was hoping for a cute Christmas romance, but here’s the problem—there isn’t a likable character in this obnoxious, entitled, unfunny bunch. And the lack of likable characters is a fiction deal-breaker for me. Thanks to Edelweiss and the publisher for this ARC.

A heartwarming Christmas story that will make you laugh and cry. A very hard book to put down and I loved every minute of it and was so sorry it ended.
Very well written with amazing characters that draw you into the story.
A must read for the Christmas season!

Oh sigh. If you are missing travel, this one will make you miss it more. Catherine's a widow, her kids are off on their own, and she's been diagnosed with cancer. But, she takes a chance and joins a river cruise for Christmas, opening her up to a new group of friends. Each person- Sophie, Rudy, Kurt, Athena, and so on- has their own 3rd person POV and each has a quirk. But they all form a. sort of family for the holiday. Thanks to the publisher for the ARC. This is a perfect read to relax- and t ...more

I enjoyed reading this book. I loved the cast of characters and how they all seemed to become a good group of friends. I have to say I did not like Athena but as the story went along and you understood her feelings she was not a bad person. I loved Trevor and that he owned a chocolate shop was an added bonus. As for Catherine I felt bad for her that her kids were not involved with her much. Even after they found out about her being sick it just seemed like she was an afterthought. I would love t ...more

I requested this book, because I have read other works by Sheila Roberts and have enjoyed them all. She does a wonderful job of making you feel like you are a part of the story and the characters stay with you. Christmas and traveling are my favorite, so I was excited to get my hands on this book! Sheila Roberts makes you feel like you are on the cruise right along with the characters. It is the perfect escape from the real world. When I finished the book, it made me want to check and see if thi ...more

Christmas is coming up and it's the first one since 60ish Catherine's husband passed away. She's going to be alone because her two adult children have made plans with their families and neither bothered to include their mother. Plus Catherine recently learned that she has cancer and will be starting chemo in the new year. When her friend, Denise, asks her to go on a week long boat cruise in Germany because another friend had cancelled at the last minute, she goes for it.

One Charmed Christmas by Sheila Roberts is a heartwarming Christmas story. Our main character is Catherine Pine who is a widow and has been diagnosed with cancer. She has already had extensive surgery to remove the cancer, but Catherine will be having chemotherapy and radiation treatments in the new year. The prior Christmas was dismal because it was the first one without her husband, so Catherine is looking forward to celebrating the holidays with her two children and their families. Sheila Roberts new holiday journey begins with introductions to several characters that are struggling to improve their lives. We begin with Catherine Pine, a widowed mother of two adult children. Both are married. They spend little time with their mother. Oh yes, there are calls and texts but not much time is spent with her. The two have their own families, busy with work and enjoying time off. Catherine approaches her second holiday without

Reading a Sheila Roberts’ Christmas book is an annual tradition that began for me after reading my first one; like the old Lay’s Potato Chip advertisement ... “Betcha can’t eat just one!”
ONE CHARMED CHRISTMAS, Sheila Roberts’ latest book, is a stand-alone romance novel and it hits the mark on every level. Ms Roberts’ name on the cover is reason enough for me to grab it, but the cover on ONE CHARMED CHRISTMAS is ... well ... charming! It sets the reader up for a delightful, festive, fun, and roma

I love reading Christmas stories and this one was one of the best I have read in quite a while. I have never been on a cruise before but after reading this book I think I would like to try one now.

Sheila Roberts knows how to write a book with the most wonderful characters and places. I felt like I was living this book while reading it, and that doesn’t happen very often to me.

I truly can’t praise this book enough! I don’t like to give away spoilers but if yo

This was such a fun holiday book! It follows several people as they take a Yultide cruise through the rivers of Germany, as they eat, sightsee, and fall in love. It's such a unique setting and the author really makes you feel like you're there with them. I especially liked that the characters ranged in age from their 20s to 60s, as so many romances focus on younger people. It was a refreshing change to have older characters included. I also loved that there was an emphasis on getting to know the ...more

What a fantastic getaway! I felt like a was on a river cruise along with the characters! This story is such a delightful escape from real life! I enjoyed getting to know the characters, "seeing" the scenery of the German cities, visiting the Christmas marketplaces and immersing myself in fabulous food and drinks by proxy.

I love the book cover and it definitely sets the mood of the book. Charms are a part of the story and the title is perfect for this book!

I enjoyed this book so much and want to

I had the pleasure of receiving an advanced reader copy and really enjoyed this story! This wonderful tale takes us on a cruise, with several characters, all within different stages of their lives, dealing with up’s and down’s and just making that choice to get away for the pre-holiday’s and spend some time in a new setting. What they find at the end of their journey is something they really never expected.

So many interesting characters, had some cozy feels and could visualize this playing in m

I really enjoyed this holiday read centered around Christmas. Catherine is a widow and learns her kids have made plans for Christmas, that don’t include her. Denise, her best friend, invites her on a Christmas cruise. Sierra booked the cruise for her husband, Mark, and her, but he says he can’t get away from work. Sierra asks her sister, Sophie, to go with her. I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say this is a delightful read that had me laughing in parts, crying in others, and cheering at th ...more

One Charmed Christmas is a sweet tale of several travelers that find themselves together on a German cruise right before Christmas. The story is shared mostly through Catherine, a widow who finds her kids too busy to spend time with her during this festive season. She is scooped up by her friend, Denise, for an adventure of a lifetime.

It truly is a serendipitous event that leaves you wondering what would've happened if any one of them stayed home, but you're glad they didn't! I especially loved

Sheila Roberts what can I say, she warms my heart with every book she writes. This one in particular was really an interesting read. I don’t wanna spoil anybody’s reading enjoyment, but if you’ve ever wanted to be on the Rhine River this is the book to read. Catherine lost her husband, and she accepts an offer from her friend over Christmas.
I know if I say much more I’ll give away some of the twists and turns in the book. You just need to pick it up and read it it’s well worth your time. Sheila

Sign me up for the next Christmas river cruise! I thoroughly enjoyed One Charmed Christmas set on a river cruise through Europe visiting different holiday markets. Multiple romantic arcs take you through the various ups and downs of brand new relationships, the touch of sadness when love is gone, and the resiliency and hope to enjoy what's still to come. I'd happily travel more with any of this full cast of characters.

Thanks to Fresh Fiction and NetGalley for the advanced copy of this novel.

This book takes place on a cruise ship. It was so fun to read. You felt like you were there experiencing the places and adventures with the characters. There is a little romance mixed in with the trip and everyday life that was brought along the way that they learn to deal and grow with. Catherine meets Rudy and they make a perfect match but his daughter tries to protect her dad. Sophie and her sister take the trip and meet brothers Trevor and Kyle who are on the trip chaperoning a German class. ...more

A Cruise for Christmas!

A lovely Christmas read. Friends helping friends. Meeting new friends, exploring new romance, breakups, health issues, and moving on.

You can relate to each character and what they are feeling and doing. For some of them starting over wasn't easy but making new friends on a cruise in Germany helped.

You will want to read this lovely story and then book a cruise! Once again Sheila Roberts thank you for a lovely read!

Thank you to Net Galley for an advanced copy of this book. What a lovely holiday read!!
